Learning SAP BI step by step

Hi all,
I'm trying to find on help.sap.com, also on google some step by step wikis to learn SAP BI.
From the cube definition, collect data (from and outside SAP systems), query definition (on bex), etc.
And I can't find anything that is trully good.
Does anyone know where to find these documents?
Thanks!

you could start here:

  • SAP XI Step by Step Learning Documnets

    Hi Friends,
I want to learn SAP XI so please suggest me good documents. So i could easily understand and gave me proper guidance to start step by step XI learning phase.
    Thanks
    Amit

    HI Amit
First try to understand XML because in XI all processing is done in XML. Next step is understanding the architecture of XI. How msgs are getting processed, what happens at runtime?
Then you can explore the rich features of XI from SDN. There are a lot of docs which are really good and also weblogs. SDN TV provides some hands on kind of experience.
Finally the forum. You can post any doubts in here and be assured to get experts comments.
This is how I am trying to learn the concepts of XI.
Following are the links to weblogs which will help to develop the basic scenarios.

SAP 4.7 IDEAS AND EE VERSIONS I AM NOT THAT MUCH PROFICIENT IN INSTALLING  I HOPE U R GUIDLINES CAN MAKE ME CLEAR IN INSTALLING I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS RATHER THAN THIS TO ANSWER
1.IS THE ISTALLATION PROCESS OF ALL SAP VERSIONS ARE SAME?
2.WHAT IS AN OBJECT IN SAP?
3.WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COMPOSITE ROLE AND A DERIVED ROLE?
YOU CAN SEND ANSWERS TO MY MAIL ID:<b>[email protected]</b>
THANK YOU TO ALL  IN ADVANCE

    Hey Rajesh,
    answers:
    1) Yes, the installations procedures is almost the same for all SAP versions, however its advisible to use follow the installation guides which comes with the DVD or is also available in SAP marketplace..
    2) Object is SAP is almost everything in Sap.
    object could be anything like
    TABLES
    PROGRAMS
    VIEW
    FUNTTION MODULES
    DOMAIN
    DATA ELEMENT
    STRUCTURE
    and so on
3)Composite role is the combination of two or more roles(be it 2 or more  single roles or combination of two or more composite roles or permutation of single and composite role).. whereas derived roles can inherit all authorization objects from the parent role and can have its own authorization objects as well..
    Hope this clears your doubts.
    Revert for any clarifications..
    Please reward for usefull post.

How to do basic LO extraction for SAP-R3-BW
    1. Go to transaction code RSA3 and see if any data is available related to your DataSource. If data is there in RSA3 then go to transaction code LBWG (Delete Setup data) and delete the data by entering the application name.
    2. Go to transaction SBIW --> Settings for Application Specific Datasource --> Logistics --> Managing extract structures --> Initialization --> Filling the Setup table --> Application specific setup of statistical data --> perform setup (relevant application)
    3. In OLI*** (for example OLI7BW for Statistical setup for old documents : Orders) give the name of the run and execute. Now all the available records from R/3 will be loaded to setup tables.
    4. Go to transaction RSA3 and check the data.
    5. Go to transaction LBWE and make sure the update mode for the corresponding DataSource is serialized V3 update.
    6. Go to BW system and create infopackage and under the update tab select the initialize delta process. And schedule the package. Now all the data available in the setup tables are now loaded into the data target.
7.Now for the delta records go to LBWE in R/3 and change the update mode for the corresponding DataSource to Direct/Queue delta. By doing this record will bypass SM13 and directly go to RSA7. Go to transaction code RSA7 there you can see green light # Once the new records are added immediately you can see the record in RSA7.
8.Go to BW system and create a new infopackage for delta loads. Double click on new infopackage. Under update tab you can see the delta update radio button.
9.Now you can go to your data target and see the delta record.
find your scenario and find what data sources do you need on R3 side and ensure they are active as well:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/37/5fb13cd0500255e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
find your scenario -> data sources -> go to R3 -> sbiw and activate required data source
    replicate data sources in BW:
RSA1 -> source systems -> right click on your source system -> replicate
    then activate your BC:
service.sap.com/bi -> BI Business Content -> General Information -> SAP BW Business Content - Activation
and execute infopackage (it should be delivered with BC)

  • Step by Step method to create a process chain in SAP BI

    HI There,
I'm new to SAP BI, can anyone pleas explain me why we need to use Process Chains in a simpler way?
Also it would be great if someone can give me step by step description for creating process chain. I've seen couple of PDF files but they confusing me more then clearing my doubts. Appreciate your time and thanks in advance.

    Hi Vandana,
1.Go to RSPC tcode ->(F5) create ->It will ask for process chain name ->then it will ask for start variant
2.If you have no start variant pre created then create new one (at right side there will be a paper symbol for that ).Every process chain has one and only one start variant that is to set scheduling option etc .When you will create a new one you will go to a screen where you have scheduling option .
3.a) Direct scheduling ->to start execution immediately
       b) start using meta chain or API ->chains which run at specific time (day ,month etc or after some specific event ). save your settings and go back .click check symbol for final creation of start variant.
4.Now at left screen you  have chain symbol (process types) .when you will click on that you will have all the process lists .
5.You can select process as per your requirement and connect different processes together. Each process is a different event (ex : load DTP ,Infopackage ,ABAP program ,AND ,Interrupt ).You cna do detailed study for that .
6.After adding all processes activate (ctrl+F3) and execute .
7.After that you can check logs (shift+F1) .you can see todays log ,yesterday and today etc .For details of every process execution right click on process and see display variant .
Hope this will be helpful for basic startup.you can further read thoroughly on each process .
    Regards,
    Jaya

  • How to setup an IC Matching application in SAP BPC step by step query...

Hi there, I have a query...
I downloaded the "How to... Setup an Intercompany Matching Application in SAP BPC" pdf file. Then i read it and eventually followed the step by step solution but as I do it, i was stucked with the step number 71. It's because the result of what i did was not the way it should look like. I mean, the result is different from the picture that is being shown in the file. As a matter of fact, i've encountered 2 messeges ff:
    error 1
    [http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2743/4464421462_15711a509d_o.jpg]
    error 2
    [http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4020/4464421410_ac8a3efb5c_o.jpg]
what should I do? Is there anything that I did wrong?
This is the 71st step anyway,
    [http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4055/4463657105_d217f23a71_o.jpg]
I actually tried both members, but i received same errors...
Thanks for help, folks! God bless!

    Hi Will,
Thanks for reply... Actually, I've tried that before(putting comma after the flag "all," presuming the 71st step shows that I should have 3 members in the memberset under the ICDatasrc dimension. But it also did not work.
Nope, step 71 did not tell us to use piping and consequently expanding the col key range.
    Thanks...
