Learning SAP BW authorizations structure and hierarchy  -  concepts

Hello Experts,
I need a good document for learning Authorizations structuring and hierarchy in SAP BIW 3.5 . I am giving authorizations in BIW but do not hv conceptual nd fundamentalistic knowledge of SAP BW authorizations and its structure . Plz send a good document for learning BW authorizations .............................it may be an excerpt frm FU&FU guide. My Email Id is [email protected]
A short but complete SAP BW fundamentalistic , concepts and structure & hierarchy covering document is appreciated.
Requested to revert at earliest as this is very urgent.
Points guaranteed.

Hi maheshwari ,
Use these steps for authorizations,
1.before going to authorizations u have to decide on which Infoobject u have to apply authorizations.
EX: SD--- Sales Org, MM -> palnt ,purorg,FI> companycode.
first u ahve to decide which area & on which Infoobject.
2.goto that Infoobject --> change there check the checkbox Authorization relavent object cahechbox
2.after that U Have to goto RSSM there u have to create authorization object
Ex: Zxxx ( XXX is Infoobject Name ).
3. In the same transaction Screen u have Infocube selection radio Button check that then select on which cube(cube means under that cube all Quaries) u have to make authorization for that perticuler Infoobject.
4.next goto PFCG create role & save it
5.goto Authorization tab in that selct edit authorization it will give automatiaclly authorization Templates in that u have to select only S_RS_RREPU & press Enter.
6. Select manual pushbutton it will ask authorisation object enter ur authorization object what u have created ( zxxx) .
7.click generate +enter
8. goto user tab Enter userId+enter + click on usercomparision+ enter
9.save the role.
FOR HIRARCHIES:
1. goto RSSM There u have one rediobutton called authorization hierarchy ( this radio button is very below the RSSM screen)
2. there u have to select Hierachy on which u have to apply authorization.
Thanks,
kiran

  • File structure and hierarchy in Aperture.

    Hi, everyone.
I am trying to import folders with images into Aperture and, much to my surprise, have found that this process is everyting but intuitive and straightforward.
My library (outside of Aperture) is made up of folders each corresponding to a day and location. These folders are labeled using the data and location as part of their name.
As I try to import these folders into Aperture I can't seem to import them into a single folder or project as sub-folders or sub-domains of that project. I have tried to create a project and them import the folders into it but Aperture won't import them into that project and doesn't allow me to drag and drop it either once it has been imported. I also tried to create albums and folders but haven't been successful.
How does this file structure in Aperture work in terms of hierarchy ? It certainly isn't structured the way the Finder is or any other file system I have seen to date. Creating folders, organizing them and bringing any type of data into these folders should be a simple process but in Aperture it doesn't seem to be.
Am I doing something wrong or is Aperture trying to re-invent the wheel ?
Is there any tutorial I can watch or read on how to work with Aperture's file structure and import folders and folders into it ?
    Thank you in advance.

Regarding your specific problem I suggest treating each existing dated folder of image files as a single Project in Aperture. In Aperture a Project is a specific time-based concept that may or may not jive with what you previously considered a project. For instance I may have in my mind that shooting all the highest peaks in every state is a "project," but that would be inappropriate as an Aperture Project. Instead each peak might be a Project, but the pix of all the peaks would be pointed to as an Album.
The way I look at it conceptually:
Aperture is a database (DB), and each image file lives in one Project.
Albums are just collections of Pointers that point to individual image files living in one or more Projects. Since they just contain pointers, albums can be created or deleted at will without affecting image files. Very powerful. And Albums of pointers take up almost zero space, so they are fast and do not make the Library size grow.
Keywords can be applied to every image separately or in batches. Keywords are hugely powerful and largely obviate the need for folders. Not that we should never use folders, just that we should use folders only when useful organizationally - - after first determining that using keywords and albums is not a better approach.
As one example imagine the keyword "flowers."  Every image of a 100,000 images Library that has some flowers in it has the keyword flowers. Then say we want to put flowers in an ad, or as background for a show of some kind, or to print pix for a party, or even just to look for an image for some other reason. We can find every flower image in a 100k-image database in 2 seconds, and in another few seconds create an Album called "Flowers" that points to all of those individual images.
Similarly all family pix can have a keyword "family" and all work pix can have a key word "work." Each individual pic may have any number of keywords. Such pic characteristics (work, family, flowers, etc.) should not be organized via folders.
So by using keywords and albums we can have instant access to every image everywhere, very cool. And keywords and albums essentially take up no space in the database.
Another approach is to use a folder "Family" for family pix, a folder "Flowers" for flowers pix and another folder "Work" for work pix. IMO such folders usage is a very poor approach to using an images database (probably stemming from old paper or film work practices). Note that one cannot put an image with family in a field of flowers at a work picnic in all three folders; but it is instant with keywords.

  • SAP Netweaver Portal - Folder structure and report publishing strategy

    Hi gurus,
I'm working on a project in which we are publishing BW reports in SAP Netweaver Portal (prior to this, we were using SAP Bex Browser) organizing it by Department (workset, 2nd lvl of navigation), Business Processes (workset, 3rd lvl of navigation) and "iview types" (transactions, queries, dashboards and so on). On 1st level we have a workset simply called "Reports".
For each PFCG role we have on BW (ABAP Server), we created a portal role and defined which of the higher navigation tiers is visible to users (delta-linking the top level navigation worksets to the portal role and setting visible accordingly) and then we assigned Portal roles to the appropriated Group (PFCG role) so all users that have access to certain PFCG role can have access to the corresponding Portal role.
    For example:
In BW (ABAP) we have a PFCG Role: Sales PMR Analysis - Administrator, which grants access to Sales Infoproviders, queries and data for PMR analysis. The user that have access to it, should be able to see:
    |Reports|
    |Sales Administration|
    v PMR Analysis
      > Web Queries
      > Transactions
      > Dashboards
      > Workbooks
In Portal we create a workset that has: "Reports" and under it, all Departments (Sales Administration, Financial, Services, Human Resources and so on) set as "not visible". We create a Portal role called PMR Analysis and add the Report/Departments workset, set Sales Administration as visible and add worksets/folders named PMR Analysis, Web queries, Transactions, etc, and all the corresponding iviews under it.
If we assign this new Portal role to the Group of the corresponding PFCG role, the user will see exactly as the example from above.
Pros: The users have a clean view of the reports he/she has access.
Cons: The users doesn't have a clear view of what is available in BW so he can request access. There might be some useful report lost in on of the hundreds of BW roles that he doesn't know it exist.
One of the options would be to grant visibility to ALL departments, business processes and iviews in Portal and let PFCG security roles control user access, but that might be confusing to have an overwhelming amount of links, making it hard to find what the user needs, specially during first access. Not to mention possible security breaches.
So, I'd like to know how other consultants are defining this kind of folder structure and report publishing strategy in Portal. Ideally we would like to be able to have:
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
I'd appreciate if you guys can share your experience on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Leandro

Cons: The users doesn't have a clear view of what is available in BW so he can request access. There might be some useful report lost in on of the hundreds of BW roles that he doesn't know it exist
This is not a refutation: your BW developers/consultants should be able to write reports, which points you in case of insufficent backend rights. EP is not designed to be familiar with ABAP security concept and cant take any influence at it.
One of the options would be to grant visibility to ALL departments, business processes and iviews in Portal and let PFCG security roles control user access, but that might be confusing to have an overwhelming amount of links, making it hard to find what the user needs, specially during first access. Yes, bad idea.
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
As you already wrote on your own, this would be not good
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
This is not covered by SAP, if you wanna provide that, develop it on your own.
    cheers

  • I have 3.4 years of ABAP experience. Planning to learn SAP BI and Move to BI. Kindly Suggest

    Hi Experts,
I have been working for almost 3 and half years on SAP ABAP. Now i am planning to Learn SAP BI/BW and move my carrier to SAP BI/BW Completely.
What would be the opportunities and carrier growth in the coming years for this combination. Please suggest.
I have read all the previous posts which were posted a year back about the same combination. But please suggest according to the present trend.
I will definitely consider your each and every suggestion of you as a priority one to my carrier growth.
    Thanks and Regards,
    V Shankar

    HI V
if you already know it's better opportunities then it sounds like you have already answered your question
if you are not familiar with the concept of big data or HANA I recommend you enter those terms in your search engine or look at SCN Front page and start reading
as far as how to retrain and transition that will really depend on your current employment situation. What would be a great combination is a mix of ABAP with HANA. Without going into further detail I think you will gain more insight by your own research

  • Authorization Structure/Concept

    Hi All,
While designing an authorization structure/concept for a new system, from experiences can i ask if it is best to use any of the following methods, or some different approach?
    1. Many varying sized Single Roles and few Composite Roles, where the Composite Role is usually directly related the 'Business Job Title', so in theory a user should be assigned 1 (maybe more in some cases) Composite Role.
    2. No Composite Roles, and ONLY medium to varying sized Single Roles, in which case many of these are assigned to each user.
I think in most scenarios it may be a mixture of the two, but i have experience of the second and it does work but manageability becomes an issue due to complexity. So the Composite Role structure should reduce the complexity and give future flexibility however this requires more time up front.
I know this is brief but i have left it slightly open for comments/opinions, thanks in advance for any information.

    Hi Ashley,
i suggest you to go with approach "1", i.e, creating composite roles and assigning to users. but i suggest you to have a clear picture of, what roles should come under wht composite role and to which group of users you have assign them.
prepare an list of of all single roles and composite roles (which group them).

  • Question about  SAP's predefined authorization roles and responsibilities

    Hi,
Is  there  a document (like a best practice document) that talks about what are the SAPu2019s predefined roles to be assigned to different responsibilities(like Basis, ABAP Developer, ABAP Developer for HR etc, Functional Configuration etc)?. If anybody have seen this document, please send the URL for that.
I am seeing SAP AUTHORIZATION SYSTEM and SAP AUTHORIZATION MADE EASY books in the market.
But these books talk  about authorization concept up to 46C only( I might be wrong).
Please advise about any latest book on SAP Authorization that talks about NW(ABAP + JAVA)  also.
    Thanks.

  • Integrate the Org structure and employees SAP HR system to CRM via ALE

    Hi All,
We want to integrate the organization structure and employees from mySAP HR system to mySAP CRM system. We are also aware that the same can be achieved through ALE Interface between both these systems.
In addition to the HR Organization Structure from HR system, can we also bring over the Sales Organization Structure from R/3 using transaction CRMC_R3_ORG_GENERATE?
    1) Can someone , please let us the possible challenges which might occur when we download HR Org structure from SAP HR to SAP CRM.?
    2) What is the implication of maintaining an HR org structure and CRM Sales Org structure within the SAP CRM 52 system?
    3) Any _precautions) should we take before doing the download via ALE??
Please get back, suitable points will be awarded.
    Regards
    Ritvij

    Hi Ritvij,
Couple of things that spring to mind are:
    1) When you do the initial data load (PFAL) try to ensure that no one is amending the Org structure as Objects can be locked and therefore not transferred. (on one of our test loads the top level was locked and therfore all subsequent levels were just transfered and we didn't have a top level)
    2) Keep the 'forms of address' in CRM the same as the R/3 ones
    3) Keep the same Employee and Org Unit IDs but prefix with (for exmaple) EM and OU in CRM. (Through the HR integration config in CRM). This may also (apparantley) aid you if set up something like an Employee interaction centre in the future.
I will update when other stuff springs to mind.
    Cheers

  • Possible to combine Value and Hierarchy Authorizations?

    Hello Experts!
Could anyone please tell me something about the interaction between value and hierarchy authorizations for the same info object?
I created an authorization for an info object which makes use of both in some queries. But if you activate a hierarchy in query designer, the value authorizations seem not to work anymore. Instead the hierarchy authorizations restrict the analysis result. I get datasets in the result without having the corresponding value authorizations.
Is there a way to ONLY use value authorizations which also work if you activate a hierarchy on an info object???
    Thanks in advance.....
    Bye,
    Joerg

No you can't. GRE is only designed to carry routing protocols and multicast traffic over VPNs.
It is also bad design practise to design a network that carry's L2 vlan's over a WAN or internet link.
You have to ask yourself why you would want to carry VLANs over VPNs?
    Hope this helps.

  • Trying to learn Structure and/or Array

OK here goes my best attempt at an explanation... I been
through some tutorial on Structures and Arrays and have an ok idea
of what to do with them. But all the tutorials I went through had
the variable amounts hard coded in, but I want it to come from a
    database query(s).
I want to get a mileage total per month per riderId
    tablename: mileageLog
    table fields: ridierId, rideDate, rideDistance
First I want to query a DB and get all the riderId numbers
(grouped so I only have one for each). This is no problem.
    <cfquery name="riderIds" datasource="DevKevin">
    SELECT riderId
    FROM mileageLog
    GROUP BY riderId
    </cfquery>
Now using each riderId, I want to put the results into a
structure and/or array so that I can then turn around and sort as
    desired.
I think I need to use a loop - one for each riderId.
Inside each loop, I would need a second loop running 12 times
    (once for each month)
The inner loop would run a query like...
    <cfquery name="mileageByMonth" datasource="DevKevin">
    SELECT sum(rideDistance) AS monthTotal
    FROM mileageLog
    WHERE riderId=
    ???? from above somehow
    AND year(rideDate)=#nowYear#
    AND month(rideDate)=#
    ???? loop through 12 months#
    </cfquery>
    I'm so lost

    Column 1 = the riderID
Columns 2-13 = the monthly totals
    column 14 = a yearly total
I also want to be able to sort by any column
Now it becomes complicated. I'm going to assume that you want
the current year, not the last 12 months. That means you don't
necessarily want 14 columns. I also assume that Access's month()
function returns a number like 4, and not a string like April. I
don't use Access so I don't actually know.
Step 1 - Use query of queries and valuelist to get a list of
distinct month numbers. I'll call this variable abc.
Step 2 - Build another list of the month names for each of
those numbers. The function is MonthAsString. I'll call this
variable months. Then build a third list, the same length, with the
word integer as each element. I'll call this variable xyz.
Step 3 - Create a new query. This will have your data in a
    cross tab format for later.
    xTab = QueryNew("Rider,#months#,total",
    "varchar,#xyz#,integer");
Step 4 - Loop through your original query and use if/else
logic to populate the xTab query.
Final Step - Use a flash grid to display your xTab query.
That will enable you to sort on any column.

  • Help in learning SAP BW

I am having Datawarehousing concepts and I want to learn SAP BW.
Can you please guide me how should i start my learning (reading / practice handson) ,
It will be great if you can send me study material (with screen shot).
What is the best way to practice handon? I have my own PC.How can i get SAP BW installed in it?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Rohith Kumar ,
To learn BW , u should know about DATA SOURCE , INFO CUBE , PSA, EXTRACT STRUCTURE , TRANSFER STRUCTURE etc.
Now my suggesstion try to learn BI ( BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE ) which is advance to BW.
The following websites contain PDF & PPT docs on BI/BW which will gain u confidence in it:
What is a BW datasource? What is meant by maintaining a datasource?
A BW datasource is a structure which is created in the source system and replicated to the BW system. Maintaining a datasource in a source system is doing any changes related to the datasource. It could be adding/deleting fields or checking the flags in the datasource like the hide and selection flag. Also, if the datasource is provided in the LO Cockpit, changes can be made there too depending on how the extraction of data is ...

An InfoCube describes a self-contained dataset (from the reporting view), for example, for a business-oriented area. This dataset can be evaluated with the BEx query. An InfoCube is a set of relational tables that are created in accordance with the star schema: a large fact table in the center, with several dimension tables surrounding it.
In its esence, Infocube is a data container. Data containers are used as a basis for analysis and reporting processes in SAP BW. Infocubes in SAP BW serve exactly this purpose. Infocubes in SAP consist of Key figures and characteristics. You can find some detailed information on key figures here. Simply speaking, infocube is any repository which contains data. Moving on to the types of infocubes. In SAP BW, there are basically two classes of infocubes. These are:
Basic Infocubes - These are also called as physical infocubes.
Remote Infocubes - These are also called as virtual infocubes.
The basic difference between the above two types of infocubes is that basic infocubes are physically stored in the same SAP BW system as their meta data description. Remote infocubes are stored on a third party custom SAP BW. Both the above types of BW infocubes consist of key figures and characteristics. These characteristics in turn are divided into 16 dimensions. More on that in another post.

    Extract Structure
In the extract structure, data from a DataSource is staged in the source system. The extract structure contains the amount of fields that are offered by an extractor in the source system for the data loading process. You can edit and enhance DataSource extract structures in the source system. To do this, in the BW Administrator Workbench choose Goto à Modeling à Source Systems à Your Source System à Context Menu (right mouse click) à Customizing Extractors à Subsequent Processing of DataSources.
    Transfer Structure
The transfer structure is the structure in which the data is transported from the source system into the SAP Business Information Warehouse. It provides a selection of the extract structure fields for the source system.
    Use
The transfer structure provides BW with all the source system information available for a business process.
An InfoSource in BW requires at least one DataSource for data extraction. DataSource data that logically belongs together is staged in an extract structure in an SAP source system.
In the transfer structure maintenance, you determine which extract structure fields are transferred to the BW. When you activate the transfer rules in BW, an identical transfer structure for BW is created in the source system from the extractor structure.
This data is transferred 1:1 from the transfer structure of the source system into the BW transfer structure, and is then transferred into the BW communication structure using the transfer rules.
A transfer structure always refers to a DataSource from a source system and an InfoSource in BW.
You get to the maintenance of the transfer structure using the InfoSource tree of the Administrator Workbench. The context menu of the source system belonging to an InfoSource provides you with the maintenance marker using the function Maintain Transfer Rules.
This website gives all definitions of Info object, infocube, infosource, datasource, commn structure, extract structure ..etc..

    SAP Business Information Warehouse
SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) is the name of the Business Intelligence, analytical, reporting and Data Warehousing (DW) solution which is one of the major enterprise software applications produced by SAP AG. It was originally named SAP BIW, (Business Information Warehouse), but is now known as "SAP NetWeaver BI".
SAP BW consists among other things of components for data management (Data Warehousing Workbench), extensive data modeling capabilities, an embedded analytical engine, a suite of rich front-end analytical tools refererred to as Business Explorer (BEx), and operational tools used for importing the most current transactional data into the system. It may be helpful to consider layers that make up the structure of SAP's BI solution:
Extraction, Transformation and Load (ETL) layer - responsible for extracting data from a specific source, applying transformation rules, and loading it into SAP BW system.
Data warehouse area - responsible for storing the information in various types of structures, including multidimensional structures called InfoCubes.
Reporting - responsible for accessing the information in data warehouse area and presenting it in a user-friendly manner to the analyst or business user.
Planning - Provides capabilities for the user to run simulations and perform tasks such as budget calculations.
SAP's BI application is a very pervasively employed data warehouse / analytical enterprise software solution, often utilized heavily by companies that essentially run their business on SAP operational systems such as SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP ERP, traditionally known as SAP R/3). SAP's BI solution contains a large number of predefined "extractors", a very significant amount of pre-defined business content in the form of InfoCubes, master data (i.e. objects representing the entity for "Customer", or "Material"), authorization roles, query views and reports all delivered in the software by SAP. Some of the significant benefits of this approach include the ability to leverage SAP's substantial business knowledge from many years of developing extremely sophisticated software systems for the world's largest companies, typically shortening project development cycles in the process. The pre-defined business content can be modified to meet an organization's specific requirements, while at the same time taking advantage of general aspects of these delivered data models and reports that are somewhat foundational and have broad application in business, government, and education.
SAP BW is now part of a suite of SAP applications called SAP NetWeaver. Other components of SAP NetWeaver include SAP Enterprise Portal (EP, called SAP NetWeaver Portal as of Release 7.0), Web Application Server (WAS), SAP Process Integration (PI, or previously XI, i.e. eXchange Infrastructure) and Master Data Management (MDM).
The 7.0 version of SAP BW was released in June 2006 as part of the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (aka 2004s). This new release includes many new features, such as next-generation reporting and analytical features, major data warehousing enhancements, and possibility to use innovative techology for query performance optimization called "BI Accelerator". BI Accelerator (or BIa) comes as an external applicance, i.e. complete hardware with pre-installed software. BIa requires separate licence fee.
From SAP NetWeaver 7.0 on, the term SAP BW is obsolete, and instead it is referred simply as "SAP NetWeaver BI" - i.e. "SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI".
According to SAP, more than 12,000 installations of SAP's BI solution exist.
SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) is SAP´s Data Warehouse solution. It has been specially developed to allow you to gather and analyze all kinds of statistical information in the best possible way.
The SAP Business Information Warehouse (SAP BW) is a core element of mySAP.com. SAP BW is an enterprise-wide information hub that enables data analysis from R/3 and other business application, including external data sources such as databases and the Internet. SAP BW also offers easy integration with other mySAP solutions, such as mySAP Supply Chain
Management (mySAP SCM), mySAP Strategic Enterprise Management (mySAP SEM), and mySAP Customer Relationship Management (mySAP CRM).
SAP BW is a comprehensive end-to-end data warehouse solution with optimized structures for reporting and analysis. To help knowledge workers quickly mine an enterpriseu2019s business data, SAP BW is equipped with preconfigured information models and reports, as well as automatic data extraction and loading methods.
With an easy-to-use Microsoft Excel-based user interface, you can create, format, and analyze reports, and publish those reports to the web. Built for high performance, SAP BW resides on its own dedicated server. Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) and reporting activities are therefore separated, and system performance is not compromised.
COMPONENTS & TOOLS OF SAP NetWeaver:SAP NetWeaver BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE
Timely access to relevant information has always been critical to business success. Now, with the widespread use of the Internet, wired and wireless data collection technologies such as RFID, and the subsequent increase in new data sources, it's even more important.
SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP NetWeaver BI) paints a complete picture of your business to satisfy the diverse needs of end users, IT professionals, and senior management. It brings together a powerful business intelligence infrastructure, a comprehensive set of tools, planning and simulation capabilities, and data-warehousing functionality u2013 delivered through enterprise portal technology.
With SAP NetWeaver BI, you can integrate data from across the enterprise and beyond, and then transform it into practical, timely information to drive sound decision-making, targeted action, and solid business results. It supports:
Data warehousing u2013 Data warehouse management; business modeling; and extraction, transformation, and loading enable you to build data warehouses, model information architecture according to business structure, and manage data from multiple sources.
Business intelligence u2013 Online analytical processing, data mining, and alerts provide a foundation for accessing and presenting data, searching for patterns, and identifying exceptions.
Business planning u2013 A BI planning framework with secure workflow capabilities supports Microsoft Excel or Web-based planning and budgeting based on consolidated corporate data for bottom-up or top-down planning.
Business insights u2013 Query design, reporting and analysis, and Web application design allow you to create analysis reports, support decisions at every level, and present business intelligence applications on the Web.
Measurement and management u2013 Business-content management, metadata management, and collaborative business intelligence monitor progress, provide reporting templates, ensure consistent data, and help decision-makers work together.
Open hub services u2013 Open hub services features enable the delivery of high-quality, audited enterprise information through Web services to applications. Bulk data exchange, change data capture (CDC), and modeling features streamline deployment and enable cost-effective operations.
Information broadcasting u2013 Information broadcasting features support the distribution of mass information to large audiences in a personalized and secure manner. You can broadcast information as an offline document or live report through personalized e-mail or the Internet, according to a schedule or based on key events.
Accelerated business intelligence u2013 Based on compressions, parallel in-memory processing, and search technologies, the SAP NetWeaver BI Accelerator functionality improves the performance of queries, reduces administration tasks, and shortens batch processes. Developed as an appliance on Intel processors, the accelerator provides consistently fast response times, even as data volumes, number of users, and analytics increase.

  • No Knowledge of ABAP, Can I learn SAP NETWEAVER XI ?

    Dear Friends,
I do not have any experience or knowledge about ABAP.
Can I learn XI or I MUST definitely learn ABAP first before I proceed to learn XI.
Some people at various institutes told me to learn CA- Cross Applications and that would be enough.
    Please post your suggestions......
    Thanks and regards,
    Raj

    HI Raj
    Welcome to XI...
If you have any programming knowledge with oops concepts then it is enough to learn XI.
If you know CA then it will be an added advantage...
