Leave Approval Error via UWL

Goodday,
I am getting an error clicking on the task in UWL for leave request approval. The leave request is available in the manager's UWL. However, when teh manager clicks the workitem, we get the following dump:-

However, when we tried the 'leave request: approval' iview, we are able to see teh request and approve it. The error is only approving via UWL. Any idea on this?

please find the following solution .it will definitely work .
If you leave configuration is done.
There was an incorrect data in your system. To do these please follow following process.
delete this request using
PTARQ> Delete documents (RPTARQDBDEl)
Please read the report documentation before
deleting the request but it should be safe as it is
a development system.
Please delete this with the above information or delete all
the records for the approver.
After this,, there will be some incorrect workitem in approver inbox.
You need to clear that also by Tcode - SWWL.

My employee applied leaves on 06.01.2012 for the dates 24.12.2011 as a CL & 25.12.2011 as Optional holiday. But the problem is after approveing his HOD it shows in portal for the date 25.12.2011 its Status-APPROVED but come to 24.12.2011 it shows ERROR in portal why? Please guide me

Did you check the log for error leave request in the backend?
Go to SE38.
Give program name as RPTARQDBVIEW and execute it.
In the selection screen give your employee number and also the date when he has applied.
Then output of the report will show the status of leave request he applied.
Select the one which is in ERROR state, then click on workflow log button.
Then check in the log for the exact error.
I need to know what is the error you are getting in the backend to provide the solution.

Leave approval text changes are not displayed in UWL

I have made some changes to text label of leave approval application using ctrl+right click(done in role->workset->page->iview) in content admin but it not reflecting in UWL(when calling leave approval application in UWL).any idea pls.

aah i think the problem is at the uwl xml config file, which controls which iview is opening for a specific task id.
please enable the support info, at this u can see which xml file is used and you can change the directory/iview which is called by opneing the "leave approval":
1. Log on to the portal
2. Navigate to the following path: system administration > system
configuration
3. In detailed navigation click on the UWL & Workflow folder
to expand out
4. Then click on the Universal Worklist Administration link
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page:
Optional Universal Worklist Service Configuration
Open the Tray for the Optional UWL Service Configuration
Click on the button to open the tray for the optional UWL service
configuration
6. Scroll down again
7. Go into edit mode
8. Display Support Information: Set the parameter to true
9. Save

I'm Using Standard Workflow WS0040077 for Leave Approval . I Activated the Event Linkage in SWEL .Did General Task in Agent Assignment . But when i run transaction PA30 . i get this error in SAP Inbox.

Have you checked the workflow config in SWU3? It sounds like there may be a problem with the LOCAL RFC destination used by workflow. Click the 'Start Verification Workflow' button in SWU3 as a health check.
Also, are you testing this in the right client?

UWL ESS Leave Approval Workitem link

Hello,
I am trying to launch a ESS Leave Approval UWL Work item via URL from an external application. Can anyone help me what is url to use... I am using UWL apis to get the details of the workitems but not able to create the exact url to launch the work item directly.

Hello,
Please check the SWFVISU to check for the corresponding task the parameters and the application name. Also you can the XML of the UWL for the corresponding task , the relevant url.

Error while employee accessing the rejected leave request workitem in UWL

I am getting this following error while employee accessing his rejected leave request workitem in UWL.
Leave application is working properly to place the leave request and to approve the request, But am getting this below error when employee try to open the rejected leave request workitem through UWL.
Application error occurred during request processing.

Leave approver UWL - Multiple entry

Hi Expert,
We have configured the UWL to display the Leave Request. Lets say there is 2 entries pending for approver to approve. He/she would received 2 entries in UWL. This is fine. When he/she click the leave request in UWL, system would launch the Leaver approver application.
However, the Leave approver application would display all entires pending for he/she to approved. User need to select the row and approve one by one which is very confusing to them. Many user complaint that he/she supposed to approver leave request for one person (i.e cause he click the entry for particular leave request), how come system would display also the leave request for another person. Also, it was very often for them to forget to approve all entries.
It this a bug or by desing? Any insight?

FIORI Leave Approval Scenario Definition Error

I have implemented a leave approval before. That was working fine. Now I'm implementing another leave approval on a different server (embedded deployment also). I followed the same configurations for scenario definition and system alias. But I'm still having this error.

Are you implementing old UI? Please use new one..
Important Note: Please use new UI with new SAP Fiori launchpad
Only Approve Requests app uses scenario definition customizing. Other approval apps read workitems from backend application tables.

Fiori Leave Approval App - Scenario Defenition Error

When I execute the Leave approval service in browser I get the below error, maintained the scenario definition settings as per the installation guide, my service pack level is Fiori SP03, so all the relevant, mandatory notes are applied.
Could you suggest anything else that I have missed out. attached the screenshot in scenario defn.
Check the URL parameters and the scenario definition. To check the scenario definition, go to customizing for SAP NetWeaver Gateway and choose SAP NetWeaver -> Gateway Service Enablement -> Content -> Task Gateway Service -> Scenario Definition.

The scenario ID should be LEAVEREQUESTAPPROVAL. Please double check the installation guide.

Launch Leave Approver Application without using UWL

Hi
Feedback from initial UAT has been that the users find the UWL awkward to use and the leave approval process has too many steps. They would be happier if they could get to their list of leave applications requiring approval directly ie avoiding the UWL.
Is this possible? In portal content it is possible to open the Leave Approver iview directly and previewing the iview appears to be OK. However when I add this link into the Navigation in our custom MSS role and access through MSS the same iview appears to be blank.
Is it possible to access this application directly?

Just as an update we have managed to do this avoinding the UWL and it appears to work fine. Just created a new page with the leaver request approver iview on it. My initial problems with the link from the portal were down to my home page configuration and nothing to do with the fact that you need to use the UWL.
We do intend to use the UWL in the future when more functionality is incorporated, it just seemed overkill for one wrkflow application.

Custom Leave approval task problem

Dear All,
I have a problem with my custom leave approval webdynpro task.
Actually I was using standard task , TS12300097 for leave approval. It was working fine from SAP worklist from portal. If someone tries to approve from SAP R/3 it was providing an information like, this cannot be executed from SAP R/3.
I had a requirement to add certain custom fields information to the task description, so I copied and created a new task similar to that and added the containers and filled the description to that. Then i cofigured the new task in SWFVISU also. It working fine from enterprise portal sap worklist.
But some tries to approve from SAP Inbox in R/3 the workflow results in error. Its not providing the same information which was coming earlier with standard task.
The error is as follow :
Work item 000000885207: Object CL_PT_REQ_WF_ATTRIBS method DUMMY cannot be executed

We are changing our Leave Request workflow, and I also came across this problem while testing.
In our situation, the problem is that we changed the approval task. We used to have it as a call to report RPTARQAPP, but then changed back to the standard method of calling CL_PT_REQ_WF_ATTRIBS DUMMY.
For us, it is only the old work items that go into error if the user tries to execute them in R/3. If the workflow is then re-started, the item is once again available and can be processed in the UWL. New work items come back with the pop-up message "The request cannot be started from the Business Workplace", like in the standard workflow.
I think we will just add some encouraging wording to the task so that people will (hopefully) not attempt to execute the work items in R/3, like this:
Please log on to ESS to approve this Leave Request through the Universal Worklist (UWL).
It is not possible to complete this work item from within R/3, DO NOT execute this work item here.
Once you have processed the request in ESS, this work item will automatically be completed.

Error in UWL while opening workitem

I have implemented a ESS package, have 2 standard workflows Claims and Leave.
I am getting error in UWL while opening workitem (advance claim) in inbox, error is as below:

What has happened?

UWL connection is fine as workflow is getting trigered and i can see work item in manager's inbox. I have created a dedicated template system for UWL with Web AS as ECC host:port number and Web AS path as /sap/bc/bsp/sap.
And maintained other connector and ITS properties and all connection test successully passed.
As we have only one sever so while creating system using load balacing template, was not able to identify message server name which is to maintained in case load balancing system.
Please help me finding out where can be the issue.

When registering the system in UWL, specify a WebDynpro Launch System. That should resolve the issue.
WebDynpro Launch System -- create a system of type WAS and mention the WAS host name and WAS path.

In addition to checking if employee is active etc,, you need to check that the user is connected to an employee. This happens in Infotype 0105 subtype 0001. The easiest way to check this may be via SE16N. Check table PA0105 and the usernam in field USRID.
BTW - the eror you describe will also happen if the user tries to access own data in portal.
The most usual error is the missing of IT0105 in my experience.

Leave Approval in MSS Displays Only Header

Hi all,
I have a problem with leave approval in MSS using the MSS Add-On. I checked all the backend configurations and they seem OK. I modified the UWL config file following the SAP note (which by the way said the config file should have been updated when installing MSS Add-On - but that didn't happen!).
When I click on the leave request in UWL, a new screen opened and after a few seconds a blank header appears in the screen and nothing else. When I previewed the leave approval in portal content, it works.
I've searched for notes on this but nothing. Can anyone help?

solution is simple.
1. Raise an oss message and SAP would ask you to apply patch update from note 1720040.
I am not too sure if this would solve the problem.
Second option is
1. go to your uwl xml and in your default xml paste following code for task 21500003.

and UPLOAD THE com.sap.pct.erp.mss.addon.xml
Please make sure you upload the xml and not the zip. Please don't upload zip as that causes issues.
Please don't rename the zip to xml etc. upload the changed com.sap.pct.erp.mss.addon.xml.
After above it will work. in case there are issues please respond on this message.

Standard Work flow for Leave approval in HR module

My query is there any standard work flow available in HR module for Leave approval and Over time approval. We have negative time management and with out ESS and MSS.
Pl suggest if any one has used this earlier with out ESS or EP

I can think of the following but not without enhancement for the workflow part.
- Since you are not using ESS, you (leave admin) may create the absence record directly in IT2001 (in LOCK mode).
- In the user exit of 2001 you may trigger your Workflow process (i.e. call the function module to trigger WF here) depending on the LCCK status. You have to explore if standard WF can be used to your requirement.
- Upon approval, you can UNLOCK the absence.
- In the event that UNLOCK is unsuccessful, trigger WF to your Leave Admin for him to update via PA30.
Standard SAP Workflow
- Only 1 level approval
- Using Chief Position
IF your workflow requirement deviates, then you have to also customize workflow, does not matter whether you are using ESS or not.
Finally test and retest to make sure all possible events are covered.
OT is the same, except that you need to use 2007 vs 2002
