We currently do this manually using a spreadsheet and its time consuming.

If not, give it a glance! This man speaks out some - for many of us probably uncomfortable - truths about SAPs recent past and future strategies, problems and challanges. What I - with this post - would like to get is your opinion on the questions risen in the article and the answer given there.
Was the introduction of Java really that big mistake and a wasting of resources that would better have been invested in the further development of ABAP. Do we now have a state where we must live with a Java engine, which would never prompt only one Java Developer to spend a thought about migrating his/her applications to it, and a half-baken ABAP engine, which still lacks many essential features, too.
Is ABAP the language of SAPs future on which the "premium application platform for nearly everyone" is to be built on in future, the vital medium which will enable the "full-featured, message queue-based Enterprise Service Bus" SAP needs to push its ESOA strategy.
Was the introduction of Java "the horror of customers"? Are there - beside the ERP - just "niche places" for BW, SEM and APO and will the major developments "happen mainly on the ABAP side"?
This - together with some other relevant news regarding the dull sale of SAPs Portal, the poor performance of MDM a.s.o. - leaves some serious questions open to me which I would really like to discuss with you guys. Just google for "agassi mdm portal" and you' ll get some interesting stuff from - unfortunatly mainly german - media like wiwo, computerzeitung a.s.o. which supply some perfect input for our talk.

I don' t know how SAP sector looks like in US, but in Austria every CIO I know seems to shy at implementing any Java based SAP technology because of lacking professional consultant support or Basis/Development Know How within his/her organizsation. Even SAP itself often seems not to be able to provide reliable consulting, support or even information on their new product line.
So what' s the use of all these new Java based stuff - the real use for customers? Have any features been implemented in Java that couldn' t be realized in ABAP? Object Orientation, Web Services, Web Dynpro - what else do you need to provide Service Oriented Architecture but a set of clean interfaces to your business logic - a.k.a. BAPIs.
Customers are struggling to get their Java servers running, to get a Java infrastructure set up, to get the new SAP Java products modified to suit their needs a.s.o.
SAP' s struggling to get their new servers installed in customers IT landscapes, to huckster their new Java products like ESS/MSS a.s.o., to get companies/consultants buy their Java focused classroom trainings a.s.o.
Consultants like myself, who got into SAP branche luckily via the Java track realize that there' s no real steady demand for their skill set and are finally overhappy to get their BC400/401 paid so they can start working into real projects and not just internal demo applications, prototypes a.s.o.
Is this the great innovation Mr. Agassi brought to his customers, company and the people earning their living with his products by introducing this marvellous, open, standard based programming environment?

Not able to select lineitems in planner monitor,SAP GRC10 PC

We have created plans and we can able to see created plans in planner monitor under assessment planning in NWBC
we can able to select the plan name and send to recipient by using Notify button up to this everything is fine
but when we want to send more than one plans to recipients,not able to select the line items.
any idea to resolve this.

Even if you can choose multiple lines by pressing ctrl key, Notification is
allowed for one plan at once. So, it won't allow you to do so.

Updating the Leave Information (dates selected) from MSOutlook to SAP ESS

I had a scenario where I need to use Microsoft Outlook as an interface and the leave information selected in outlook calender should be updated to SAP ESS. Does Any one worked on similar kind of scenarios ? I would like to know if any API is available to interface between MS Outlook and SAP. If not is there any 3rd part integration technologies available ? Helpful answers will be Appriciated in the SDN way

Thanks for your reply. I am looking for a Java API using which i can read the calender information in outlook (dates selected and saved by the user). If I can get this dates information i could think of updating the same dates (leave info) to SAP ESS usingn JCO Client java program.

SAP Liquidity planner on release 604

Hello,
I am preparing for implementation of SAP Liquidity planner. For preparation and investigation I use the book "Cash accounting and cash flow planning with SAP liquidity planner" and SAP notes.
It is stated there, that manual entries should be made to table TRWPR. Does this approach is still the same with release 604? Should the implementation be started as stated?

The report to post Leave RPTARQPOST

Dear HR Guru,
We have schduled the report RPTARQPOST to post the approved leave request into SAP HR infotype 2001 .
This job is scheduled in frequency of 30 mins. we are facing a problem, currently it takes lot of time for execution . Is there any transaction other than this where we can check for errors are problem it is causing. I am aware of PTARQ transaction which is related to each employee, so we cannot use that.
I tried checking these tables PTREQ_HEADER, PTREQ_HEADER , PTREQ_ITEMS and PTREQ_ATTABSDATA. Its not that feasible to check also.
currently the job is scheduled withou display of log. when we tried with display log the job fails...
Let me have your suggestion on this.

Run RPTARQERR report to find requests errors (also you can approve/reject it from here).
You can stop and delete any request process (bad or not) with RPTARQDEL.

Forwarding document (not work item) from specific SAP workflow to Outlook

Hi,
We are looking for ways to forward the email notification of leave approval from SAP inbox to MS Outlook.
One way I know of is to create Auto forwarding in SAP inbox, however this would forward all documents received regardless of the work flow.
Would appreciate it if any one out there could share your experience.

Use program RSWUWFML2. You can get pretty fancy with it to setup wrapper text. I have used it a lot so feel free to ping me with any questions.
What is important to know is normal 'email' forwarding will not send workflow items. I use this every 15 minutes to forward to Outlook and get the users into the Portal to manage the workflow.

Leave Regularization_ESS portal_HR work flow inbox_ Error

Hi,
When an employee applies for leave through the SAP ESS portal, the leave request flows to the Immediate Superior for approval.
However, the Time Admin fails to receive the leave request (after approval of Immediate superior) in the HR workflow inbox although the ID is maintained as Time Admin in SAP.
I have also checked the Administrator group & the feature PINCH. Both have been maintained correctly.
Request to pls help with this issue.

The issue is only occurring for the ZIP file extention . we are able to open the document in other files extentions from UWL inbox(portal).
We have checked few more threads in SDN & got some link mentiioing the Tcode :- DC20 and DC30 (related to file extension) . As explained in the Tcode DC20 and DC30 . the file extention entries has to be maintained.
We have made the entry of ZIP file in the DC20 & DC30 but still we are getting the same error. I think we are missing some entries to fill.
It would be great if you can suggest regarding this issue...
Is this is the cause of the issue ?

Liquidity Planner - assignment logic!

unfortunately I have several problems with the liquidity planner in SAP R/3. From my point of view i`ve done the whole customizing (default-settings, N:M, partially ..., assignment to the liquidity positions, settings for the online update, ...). Everything works fine but I am not able to reproduce the logic of the assignment programm. There are a lot of complex FI-documents which have several clearing documents and it`s almost impossible to check if the assignment programs (1st step: FI assignment / 2nd step: bill-assignment) is working in an acceptable way. Sometimes it looks like that the assignment-program allocate the values in a special way (also if there is an 1:1-assignment between the information-lines and the actual-lines (banc account, ...)).
My questions:
Which experience do you have made with this kind of functionality?
How is your approach to make the assignment (which user-exits do you use, is it necessary to use enquiries, ...)?
Do you know any reports which might be helpful to analyse the assignment logic (I`ve found the program "RFLQ_REXCHAIN2 -> this one is nice for one position but in case of complex documents it`s also not really helpful)?
Do you have any documentation which is more helpful than the oss-notes?
I would be really grateful for a feedback. Thx in advance.

Leave encashments

Dear seniors,
Is it possible to give leave encashments in SAP HR? If yes, then how?
for example:- an employee has 30 Casual leaves & he has used only 25 of them & now acc to company policy, the employee shud be given payment for these 5 remaining leaves at the end of year.
is there any infotype which is storing this information? if yes, then how wud the salary be processed in this case?

In ESS leaves, ITS version, SAP 4.6c .. how to let the department secretary to apply or extend his leave of behalf of their department employee if he is away and to able to access his/ her Portal? They are not having PA30 and not able to do in PA71 or any HR leave transaction, is there any way if the employee not able to access his portal ..

Unable to capture message from BAPI_REQUIREMENTS_CHANGE in production

Hi,
I have written code for uploading PIRu2019s as per demand planner in SAP R/3.
For this i have used BAPI_REQUIREMENTS_CREATE and BAPI_REQUIREMENTS_CHANGE.
As the command COMMIT WORK is entered within the BAPI, i have not used TRANSACTION_COMMIT bapi.
It was tested in Development server & working fine in Production server.
But recently (after 2 months), messages captured from return table of BAPI_REQUIREMENTS_CHANGE, is not coming.
If any one has faced similar problem, they can guide me to resolve this issue.

How Can I deploy a .WDA file into MSS

Hi Everybody,
We have a problem with leave issue and SAP has provided a new EAR file i.e. sap.commssato.ear.
They said that we need to take a back up of existing mss~ato before we deploy this new .EAR file. But when we checked in the portal server, we can see only a .WDA file, but not an .EAR file. Now, i don't know how to deploy a .wda file using SDM. If some thing goes wrong with the new file(.ear file supplied by SAP), we have to re deploy the old file. I learnt that we can only deploy EAR, SCA and SDA file files to the server using SDM. Please explain me what should i do now.

NW 7.3 + iView from remote source wizard + R3 Web Dynpro ABAP, not working

Hi,
I think this forum is my last resort.
I'm running NetWeaver 7.3 Enterprise Portal and also have an existing ECC6 on backend.
Our ABAP Programmer has built some WD4A application on ECC, I'd like to made them available
on EP as ABAP WebDynpro iView.
From the document, I know the way to create ABAP WD iView is different since 7.3. I have to use "iView from remote source" to do it.
On EP side, I have made an system alias (test ok) for ECC, assigned permission, provide mapping id/pwd, and test.
On ABAP side, all webdynpro app are activated (T-code sicf, /sap/bc/webdynpro, /sap/public/bc/webdynpro...). I can even test WAS by bringing up browser and access some sample ABAP webdynpro .
However, I cannot success on "iView from remote source" wizard and it always show me "Nothing found. Check your search Criteria.".   Eventhough I use "*" as search criteria.
Anyone has the similar situation ? I even doubt that it is a placeholder of a feature , not working for now. Anyone made it work on NW 7.3 ?

My System Alias for ECC:

I also assign a group to have "read" and "user" permission to this system
Also assign Alias to the system.
I also create a user belong to the group, assign his system mapping an ECC user ID & PWD to it.
I tested the System alias, it is working (both WEB AS test, and R3 test)
Then I try to create an iView on EP, under a PCD folder , new->iview->iview from remote source. A wizard show up. Then I can select the ECC alias just created, and provide * as application search criteria, and then select "WEB DYNPRO ABAP" as the application type. Then "GO"
as I mentioned, it always show "Nothing Found. Check your search crieteria"
But I'm sure the web dynpro applications are activated on R3.

I feel confident about the backend R3 system because I can use the WAS URL to access the sample WD4A application, for example, I can bring up the wd4a application ui in my browser. It is purely browser and R3 stuff, no EP involved.

I have done all kind of test on the system object (alias):
1. In EP System Administration -> Landscape Configuration, I select the system object, click "Test Connection", It shows me a Check mark, and the detail message is SOE_DEV_600 connection
2. Edit the System object, then click on "Connection Tests" page, I see two lines there, check both and click test, here is the result:

The test consists of the following steps:
1. Check the validity of the system ID in the system object
2. Check if the system can be retrieved
3. Check if the system object has a valid system alias
4. Check if an SAP system is defined in the system object
5. Validate the following parameters: Web AS protocol; Web AS hostname
6. Checks if the host name of the server can be resolved.
7. Pings the Web AS Ping service (works only if the service is activated on the Web AS, and only on ABAP Web AS)
8. Check HTTP/S connectivity to the defined back-end application
Results
1. The system ID is valid
2. System retrieved successfully
3. Retrieval of the default alias was successful
4. The system object represents an SAP system
5. The following parameters are valid: ICM Protocol (http) ICM Host Name (soeprdev.mydomain.com:8000)
6. The host name (soeprdev.mydomain.com) was resolved successfully
7. The Web AS ping service http://soeprdev.mydomain.com:8000/sap/bc/ping was pinged successfully
