Leave switches in "Server" mode or Not
I have multiple switches at different locations ( 16 ) I was hoping someone could explain wheather to leave "All" switches in vtp server mode. I have not created any vlans and I don't think that I will at this present time. So the question is, will there be any problems if ALL switches are left in "Server" mode???
Hi AJ69,
Are you trunking between the switches? Cisco does not recommend either leaving them in Server/Client or Transparent mode but many enterprises prefer transparent mode for the following reasons:
This practice encourages good change control, as the requirement to modify a VLAN on a switch or trunk port has to be considered one switch at a time.
VTP transparent mode limits the risk of an administrator error, such as deleting a VLAN accidentally, and thus impacting the entire domain.
VLANs can be pruned from trunks down to switches that do not have ports in the VLAN. This results in frame flooding that is more bandwidth efficient. Manual pruning also has a reduced spanning-tree diameter. A per switch VLAN configuration also encourages this practice.
There is no risk from a new switch being introduced into the network with a higher VTP revision number and over-writing the entire domain's VLAN configuration.
You can find more information on the following website:

Two switches in server mode do not advertise their vlan info. with each other
Hello All,
I have some queries regarding the VTP advertisement as below.
Scenario.....
I have taken two switches named as switch-A and Switch-B connected with each other with port f0/1.I have defined f0/1 as trunk on both the switches.
Then i created the Vlan 2,3,4 on switch-A ,Switch-A configurations revision number got changed from 0 to 3.But when i look up the same on switch-B the revision number is 0 and the vlan that was created on Switch-A is not replicated to Switch-B.
Both Switch-A and Switch-B has default VTP domain configured i.e Null
Both the Switches are in Server mode.
On both the Switches domain password set to null.
Why the vlan is not getting advertise from Switch-A to Switch-B?.According to the vtp configuration they both belong to the same vtp domain i.e null.
So they should advertise the vlan information with each other.
Your suggestion will be appreciated on this.Awaiting for your reply
Thanks,

I have tried by changing the vtp domain name instead of null and it is working fine in that scenario. But my question is why not is works when the vtp domain is set to null on both the switches.

The switch of operating mode does not occur
Hello
I wander what could be the reason teh system does not switch to operating mode "night". It is an database server.
The profiles are consistent. However the switch does not occursHi,
Did you define the timetable for the operation modes ?

Jco Connection works on Single server mode, but not over network?
Hello,
Error - com.sap.dictionary.runtime.DdException: 'XXXXXX' not properly defined! Unable to create Metadata connection for Dictionary Provider. Either the logical System Name 'XXXXXX' has not been properly defined in the System Landscape Directory, or you are not using a MsgServerDestination (AppServerDestinations are not permitted for Metadata connections
This is the error at one of the remote machines. The JCo Connection works on the J2EE host system (while testing and pinging under the Single Server mode.)
I believe this error will be rectified if I upgrade to SPS7, but we have certain other considerations that restrict us from doing that.
Could someone please point out the exact location thats responsible for this if possible and maybe I could just upgrade that part and clear this?
ThanksHi,
you should consider three things if your java instance is on network.
1. SLD ( check if java instance is listed on SLD and test the connection from portal to SLD.
2. You need an entry in the services files of both the Java and ABAP servers as such:
sapms<SID> 3600/tcp
Remember to always have a blank line at the bottom of the services file!
3. try to add the certificate in portal.
if you can provide with the exact error message it would be easy to help.
Kind regards,
vamsi. -
In a vtp domain how many server mode switches can be
dear sir,
in a vtp domain how many server mode switches should be.
what role transpranent mode vtp domain and were we are using it.Hi Mukhtar,
You can have all the switches in server mode in your network but it is always recommended to have atleast 1 and better to have 2 in your network.
One is required because VTP server is the only switch from where you can modify, add or delete vlan and it will be propogated to all client switch but 2 is recommended to have redundancy incase your one VTP server goes down you will be having another ot take care of your network.
Talking about VTP mode transparent, this mode will allow you to create, delete and modify any vlans but will not participate in any VTP messages and it will also not propogate its VLAN information to anyone in the network.
Also if you want to go for extended range of vlan which is above 1005 you have to configure your siwtch in VTP transparent mode only.
To know more about VTP have a look at this link

HTH, if yes please rate the post.

Missing "Switch to advanced mode"
I'm missing the Advanced tab in PowerPivot, and the option to switch on advanced mode is not there either. I've checked and downloaded the right version (32-bit), so there shouldn't be any problems. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
I'm using the 10.50.4000.0.
That's an old version of Power Pivot, build 10.50 = SQL Server 2008 R2. The advanced tab was irst introduced in PP SQL Server 2012 = build 11.00, as in my screenshot; see
What's New in PowerPivot SQL Server 2012.
You can download the new version for Excel 2010 here:

Java jvm server mode memory leak out of memory crash
Hi,
I am using java version "1.6.0_13" on a windows 2003 server.
I am running apache-tomcat-6.0.18 PermSize:256M HEAP:1G
If tomcat is started with java with client mode vm, the site works very well!
Requests are processed without problems and memory heap will stabilize on 500M.
I like to use the server mode. If I start the tomcat with server mode, then
the web application work better (30% faster), but memory heap will increase
increase more than the 500M about the 1G and then the tomcat process crash.
Questions:
A) Is normal that memory will increase? If client mode need 500M then 1G for
server mode is not enought? Should I increase the heap? How much?
B) Is a know problem? Is server option for windows not good supported?
I have double checked the problem. If I return to the client mode then the
tomcat will run without problem (excluding some software change problems)
No use of native code (JNI).
C) How to track better what happens in server mode? If there is a bug or is normal?
Please help me. Thanks in advance.this problem may arise if u r using a windows 95 series of OS. after starting the dos window, go to that windows properties and increase the memory allocations to maximum, dont let it be at auto. I think this should help u

according to the docs i should be able to switch between connected and disconnected mode at any time
However!
When I try to switch to connected mode I get this error
"SOA is not set. SOA must be set before switching to Connected Mode. (35519)"
anyone know where do I set the SOA ? anyone know what the SOA is ?SOA = Sun Online Account which is now your MOS (My Oracle Support) ID/password. Go to Administration->Edit Authentications, and you should see a place to enter your MOS user and password.
Then you should be able to switch to connected mode. Note there is also a HTTP Proxy configuration option there under Administration if you need to set that. -
Not able to get Shared Server Mode to work in XE
The server is an HP Dual CPU Xeon, 4 GB RAM. 120GB HD.
Oracle XE reports the following:
SGA 768 Target, 768MB Current.
PGA 256MB Target, 55MB current (when there are a small number of client connections)
The application and database work properly with a small number of connections, but
memory usage goes way up on PGA when I start to add more connections.
I have tried to set up the Oracle server in "Shared Server Mode" , but it appears
that I was unsuccessful.
From what I can tell, the oracle listener does not seem to be fowarding the incoming requests to the shared server dispatchers, but
instead it is deciding to kick off a dedicated server process to handle each client request.
In other words, it is working in dedicated server mode.
I am stumped as to what needs to be done next. From what
I can tell from reading documentation this should be working.
Please advice as to what else I can do to get things working.
Here is additional information:
The parameter SHARED_SERVERS is equal to 4.
parameter dispatchers=(PROTOCOL=TCP) (SERVICE=XEXDB)
max_shared_servers, max_dispatchers, shared_server_sessions have no values.

XSLTC not working in -server mode of JVM
I am translating one of my request xml to response xml using SinglePropertyAvailabilityRQ.xsl. I am using XSLTC technique of transformation. This works perfectly when I am running it normal JVM mode. But when I run this in -server mode of JVM it gives Stylesheet compilation error. Attaching my program and request xml and xsl used for transformation. The transform(Node node, String xslFile) method does the actual transformation and TemplateObjectFactory class maintains compiled Templates.

MY new Ipod Nano does not hold a charge. I use it mostly as a watch, perhaps look at it 5 or 6 times in 8 hours, and leave it in sleep mode the rest of the time. I drains to the red line in less than 2 days. My husband's nano will last a week this way. I thought it drained because of looking at photos, so I quit looking at them and it made no difference. Am I doing something incorrectly to cause this short battery life?
You are still under warranty if your iPod is "new." Take full advantage of it by either calling iPod tech support, Apple Care if you have it or take it in to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

How to check whether weblogic server is in DEBUG mode or not
Hi
I want to check in my OSB proxy whether weblogic server is in Debug mode or not?
IF abv thing is not possible ,
I have check whether server is in development mode or production mode from my OSB proxy service?
I m not able to find any doc on this??Please let me know how it can be done?
ThanksThere isnt any other way except for doing a Java Callout. In the callout method you can access the Domain/Server MBean for the information that you seek. Based on the callout result you can go ahead with the logic in your PS..
Here is a sample Java Code to get the Server Log Level and ascertain whether the server is in Production Mode or not.
package com.dell.mbean;

import java.net.MalformedURLException;
import java.util.Hashtable;

h.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, username);
h.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, password);
h.put(JMXConnectorFactory.PROTOCOL_PROVIDER_PACKAGES,"weblogic.management.remote");
h.put("jmx.remote.x.request.waiting.timeout", new Long(10000));

Can not switch from organizer mode to editor mode in adobe premiere elements 12.
After successfully installing and registering my new adobe premiere elements 12 and had created the organizer, I still can't switch from organizer mode to editor mode to edit a file (photo).
Alfredo Agorilla
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on? Have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update via a project's Help Menu/Update? If not, please do so.
You wrote
I still can't switch from organizer mode to editor mode to edit a file (photo).
Just how are you trying to do that...
a. Are you in the Elements Organizer 12 workspace, right clicking the photo's thumbnail, and selecting Edit with Premiere Elements Editor
or
b. Something else.
Is there an error message that results when you try to switch "from organizer mode to editor mode" and cannot?
When you mention "....to edit a file (photo)", I wonder if you are not trying to get to Photoshop Elements 12 Editor, not Premiere Elements 12 Editor, from the Elements Organizer 12.
Please supply a step by step of what you are doing so that we can be sure that we are in sync on the details that we are using to work through your issue.
Thank you.

- Make sure the mic hole is clear and unobstructed. It is the little hole on the back by the camera lens(if has back camera). For the 16 GB one without the back camera the mic hole is on the top edge near the center.
- Open the Voice Memos app and see if you see movement on the VU meter needle or changes in the moving waveform graph with changes in noise level trying to be recorded.
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

IPhone 6 will not switch to landscape mode for pictures, videos or tv
My iPhone 6 stopped switching to landscape mode for movies, pictures,tv or vedio.
Does anyone have a solution?TThe first thing to do is check, as Dilbert41 mentioned, whether the Rotation Lock is on. if you see the circular arrow around a small padlock at the top right of your screen turn it off using the Control Center. If the Roation Lock is off try a reset of your iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
