LED cinema display doesn't work under boot camp

I just installed Boot Camp and Windows 7 x64 on a Macbook Pro 2010 (6,2) with and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256MB video card. The Boot Camp drivers automatically installed during the process. I plugged in my 27 inch LED Cinema Display, which works just fine on the OS X side. However, the screen was dark, as if it wasn't plugged in.
Audio does go through the Cinema Display.
I have tried to repair the drivers twice by running the Boot Camp support software.  I also tried to run the NVIDIA driver installation software separately. It failed.
So, what can I do to get the Cinema Display working?
Thanks.

I found a solution that worked for me. I deleted from my USB drive the Boot Camp support software that I had downloaded from the Apple website and downloaded in its place the support software through the Boot Camp Assistant program. I ran setup.exe, did the repair option and restarted. I then went to the NVIDIA driver install application on the USB drive and ran it. This time, it worked! I restarted the computer and both the laptop display and the Cinema Display lit up.
Originally, and during the previous 3 times trying to repair the drivers, I saw the ATI graphics driver getting installed. Somehow, it appears that the NVIDIA drivers didn't install before.
I hope this helps others.

  • Dual monitor not working under Boot Camp on Mac Pro ATI HD 2600 XT

Recently got a brand new Mac Pro with ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT graphics card.
On the Mac side (Leopard), everything works perfectly: my second monitor (a plasma screen connected with HDMI to the second DVI of the ATI card via HDMI/DVI adapter) is fully recognized and it works as an extended desktop or in Mirroring mode.
Under Boot Camp (Windows XP Pro) however, NOTHING: the second monitor always appears in the display properties, but it is grayed out (inactive), and when I try to activate it, it switches back to being grayed out immediately and nothing gets displayed on it.
After reading all the posts I can find on the topic, I tried the following (in pretty much every possible combination - Thank god for WinClone that allows me to restore the Boot Camp basic install image without having to reinstall Windows from scratch every time):
    a) Bootcamp 2.0 (installed by default by Bootcamp assistant)
    b) Update to Bootcamp 2.1
    1) Windows XP Pro SP2c vanilla install (from my Windows XP pro install disk)
    2) Update to Windows XP SP3 (I tried with and without BC 2.1: both worked -> BC 2.1 didn't seem to be required for SP3 - maybe because this is a mac pro and not a MB or MBP)
    i) ATI drivers installed by default by Boot Camp assistant (BC 2.0) or by BC 2.1
ii) Latest ATI drivers found on ATI web site specifically under Boot Camp / Mac Pro.
Note: Interestingly, the catalyst installer worked ok (provided .NET framework 2.0 is installed though), but it seems that the Radeon BootCamp/Mac Pro driver set itself from ATI's web site does NOT include a driver for the HD 2600 XT - so when I install this driver set, it tells me that no compatible hardware was found...
iii) Latest ATI drivers found under Windows XP (these did include one driver specifically for the Radeon HD 2600 XT)
NOTHING seems to work. I read posts (most of the from late last year) about ATI Catalyst utility showing a 3rd monitor at some point, but I never got any 3rd monitor showing in any of my many many trials with Catalyst. I have yet to get a single image appear on my plasma under Bootcamp Windows. I don't believe its the hardware because everything works great on the max OS X side.
I am actually considering switching to an NVidia 8800 GT just to get the dual screen to work under BootCamp/Windows XP because I really need it and I read everywhere that drivers for NVidia are far better than ATI ones.
Any advice? What should I try next before getting an 8800 ?
Is there a diagnostic utility that I can use to test my config including the GC?
    Thanks!

Hi there aside from my laptop I have an iMac 20" with the same HD 2600 XT card. I recently installed the Catalyst 8.6 driver by using a driver mod from driverheaven, I use Vista 32. By installing it this way I got boosted performance and many issues with the bootcamp drivers were fixed. As you may already know the ATI drivers do not install on bootcamped macs usually but the mod tool fixes this. Its unofficial so do so at your own risk but try it out and see if you get the second monitor if not just rollback. Hope this helps and I didn't want to say too much about the 8.6 driver mod because it may not be allowed here but google will provide any answers.

  • 17" Cinema Display doesn't work with new MacBook Pro

I have used a 17" Cinema Display with a MacBook Pro without problems for the last year. I just bought a new MacBook Pro and a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. Hooked it up and no display. Reconnected to my olf MBP without the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and it still works great. Any thoughts?

I have the same machine and the same drive (for about 6 months) they work fine.
The first suspect is the internal SATA cable, replace it.

  • 24" LED Cinema display doesn't display screen saver.

I have my MacBook Pro set to display a screen saver- (flurry). The MBP alone functions as desired. When plugged into the Cinema display, which is 90% of the time, it has only appeared maybe once or twice since purchased, even after Snow Leopard was installed. Anybody have a clue on what could be casing my flurry to be absent? Thanks!

I just answered my own question. I didn't realize that I had the sleep/ screen saver activation times set the same. (Hence the reason why I would see about .5 seconds of flurry before the screen would go black).

  • External Display won't work with boot camp updates?

I'm using Boot Camp 4.0 with the latest updates - on Windows 7 x64.
I've been using my Thunderbolt to DVI adapter for months now on the same monitor (la2206x) and suddenly it doesn't work - forcing the resolution to 640x480, which, really is a lie because the monitor isn't picking up a signal.
Tried this with 2 other monitors as well with no luck.  I depend on the second monitor for testing and design/development, so this has become high priority issue.
And no downloading HP drivers does not work - thet PC doesn't even recognize them and reverts back to "Generic Non-PNP Monitor"
    Anyone else experiencing this issue?
    Kind Regards,
    J

I'd just like to add that this no longer works with OS X Lion 10.3.8 either...  Get your **** together Apple.  It's called MacBook "Pro" for a reason.

  • Cinema DIsplay sleeps when I use Boot Camp with Radeon 5870 through DVI connection

I just created a bootcamp partition on my Mac Pro (1,1) with Radeon 5870 and XP Professional so I can play Train Simulator 2012 with maxed out settings. Well after hours of installing Windows XP and updating it (via Parallels so I could do other things while waiitng for Windows) I got Train Simulator 2012 installed, Windows XP Professional fully upto date and reboot to bootcamp. I see the Windows screen and then my monitor goes to sleep (best guess). I am using an Apple Cinema Display 20" and is of course connected to the DVI port. One guess (and I hope I am totally wrong about this) is I think I remember reading the DVI port id display 3 not 1. I hope this isn't the problem (requiring me to buy a $40 Mini Display port for DVI adapter.
Any ideas as to why this is happening? I was so looking forward to playing Train Simulator with maxed out graphics via Boot Camp with the Radeon 5870 1GB. Don't get me started as to why my line out is not being detected by XP Pro.
I also have the latest Bootcamp drivers for XP (3.2).

Never used XP and on Mac Pro I wanted to use all 4-cores and more than 1.9GB RAM but often it seems that in the past and with Fusion anyway you would need to install Windows updates and drivers natively not thru or in the VM.

  • Airport will only work under Boot Camp XP

Up until a few days ago both my Mac Pro and iMac were working perfectly, both have Boot Camp installed and my girlfreind and I switch reguarly between OSX and XP.
Then the other day we both lost all networking on the OSX sides. The airport works fine under XP.
OSX says that it is connected yet does not get an IP address. I have tried swapping the drivers for older versions, removing the system prefs and rebooting, specifying an IP, reseting the router (Linksys) to factory settings, connecting via an ethernet cable, different channels on the router, different security types, no security at all. OSX just is not communicating with the router at all. I'm sure it isn't a hardware fault as the network is fine under XP. The network also has a PS3, PSP and Wii all working fine.
I'm very frustrated and have waste a whole day wrestling with this issue. Any help?

Same as running Windows on any hardware. You need a program to mount an .iso.
The other question might by 'why' but that is besides the point.
Or why this didn't work (lots of options)

  • Wireless Not Working under Boot Camp

Wireless works with Leopard and with VM Fusion, but when I use boot camp, it won't connect to DHCP. Tried manual ip address also, but no internet connectivity and can't ping my network.
Wired ethernet works fine with Boot Camp.

  • USB Audio on 27" Cinema Display doesn't work on 27" iMac

I have a new 27 inch display paired with my 27 iMac (i7), When selecting "Display Audio" as a sound output device it does nothing and switches right back to Headphone port. And I have installed the 27 inch update before the display arrived... does anyone else have the same issue with their display?
    Thanks,
    /b

I had this problem with USB SoundSticks. Here is your solution:
Delete the com.apple.soundpref.plist from the *MAIN LIBRARY>PREFERENCES* - (not the users library PREFERENCE folder).
Again, in the same *MAIN LIBRARY>PREFERENCES* folder, go into the AUDIO folder and delete com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist and com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
Reselect the sound device you want as your default in the Sound Preference Pane.
    Restart your computer.
And PRESTO!!!! works like a dream.

  • New MacBook Pro & 27" Apple LED Cinema Display Don't Go to Sleep

I recently purchased a new 13" MacBook Pro (MacBookPro8,1) and a 27" Apple LED Cinema Display. When they are connected the computer occasionally has a problem being put to sleep. When clicking sleep, the monitor will take a little while to shut off, but in about 10 seconds, it will turn back on. Immediately when turning on, the image on the screen is quite scrambled (it does correct itself). Usually, if I attempt to put it to sleep multiple times, it will end up working. When it does go to sleep (correctly), the screen will turn off much faster than the times where it doesn't sleep.
Anyone else have a similar issue they found a fix to? When speaking to Apple support, they thought it was part of an issue with 10.6.6, however, the update to 10.6.7 did not solve the issue.
PS - I keep my MacBook Pro lid closed when using the display.

Is your 2.6 the CTO upgrade from the high end 2.3 15"?
Yes, both will work under OSX and Windows. One note, when you boot Windows, you need to unplug the USB from the LED Cinema display or Windows will not boot. Once booted, then plug the USB back in to regain brightness, etc controls.

  • LED Cinema Display (27-Inch) and the new iMac (late 2012)

Does the LED Cinema Display (27-Inch) work with the new iMac (late 2012) as a second monitor, and if so, which cable do I need?

It will work.  Plug its Mini DisplayPort plug into the computer's Thunderbolt port.  No adapters needed.

  • No headphones under Boot Camp

When running Vista x32 under Boot Camp on my 13" MBP, I can't get sound through the headphones - only through the internal speakers. Based on previous recommendations that have been posted, I uninstalled and reinstalled the Boot Camp drivers - but the problem persists. I've tested several different headphones and none work under Boot Camp.
However, when running OS X or running Vista under Fusion, the headphones work as expected.
Any recommendations what I should try next?
    thanks!

Had the exact same issue. I would plug-in my headphones and the sound would continue to come out of the internal speakers instead of the headphones.
    HOW TO FIX
    -Plug in your headphones
-Right click on the little speaker in the system tray and click on "Playback Devices"
-Right click on Speakers (Cirrus Logic) and disable
-The sound should now only be coming out of the headphones

  • Mouse not working with Boot Camp after 10.5.7 update

I upgraded to 10.5.7 recently, and now my mouse doesn't work on Boot Camp. It doesn't seem to register, and I can't move the pointer. I tried this with two mice that worked just fine on the Mac OSX side. Any ideas? Has anybody else noticed this?

I have a new (July 2009) iMac24 and neither the wireless mighty mouse nor keyboard work with Boot Camp XP Home Edition SP3. They install OK with the Bluetooth control panel, but then after five or ten seconds, drop out of the control panel and have to be discovered again. I spent two hours today with a Mac support expert, but no joy. We both gave up. It seems the wireless mouse/keyboard does not work with Boot Camp. If anyone hears of a solution, please let me know.

I am having this same issue. Im not sure if this is the cause but I think this is keeping PowerDVD Ultra 11 from playing back Bluray under Windows 7 / Bootcamp

  • LED cinema display + Mac Pro + Boot camp = build in iSight not working

    Hallo,
I hope that anybody has the same situation. I bought a Mac Pro and the LED cinema display. Installed boot camp and windows vista. Now I recognized that the iSight camera build in the LED cinema display is not always working. Mostly not. Sometimes the iSight is recognised but as written mostly not . May be the USB is out of specification. I want to give the display back and buy a new one. Before i go this way I want to be sure that normally this configuration is working. Could anybody please confirm this?
    Thank you, Frank

    You're welcome, frankiko
Is it true that in your opinion it should work?
    No.
I will try your suggestions ... send back the LED cinema display... it seems to be working with MacOS.
Your new information is helpful. Because your system, including iSight, consistently work properly when running Mac OS X, your LED cinema display, iSight, Mac, and Mac OS X, are obviously working properly.
Although I do not use Windows®, the problem you describe must be with your Windows® installation and/or configuration. Therefore, returning the display will not resolve your problem unless you plan to use some different camera that you know works with your Windows® installation.
Before you return your LED display, you may wish to consider any of the following that may be relevant to the system you are using:
    (1) If you use Mac OS X 10.5 Boot Camp with Vista: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1606
    (2) If you use Mac OS X 10.6 Boot Camp with Vista: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3777
    (3) If it is an option in your version of Boot Camp, have you tried repairing the Boot Camp drivers? See your Boot Camp Installation Guide for help on how to repair the drivers and reinstall a specific driver if necessary.
    (4) If you have not already seen this, you may find other help in Apple's Boot Camp Support page.
    (5) After you have any possible Boot Camp issues resolved, and especially if you are having any other problems with Vista, check to be certain that Vista was installed and configured properly.
    (6) If you get no better suggestions here, the last answers in both the Boot Camp 2.0, Mac OS X 10.5: Frequently asked questions and the Boot Camp 3.0, Mac OS X 10.6: Frequently asked questions tell you that you can get phone-based assistance or online support for Boot Camp from Apple.
