LED in iphone 4 is not turning off. HELP!! :(((

I drop my phone more or less 3 times and my LED light is now malfunctioning, it can't be turned off, i have not downloaded any flashlight applications, one of the Apple expert told me to restore my iPhone, but it still goes the same thing. I wanna know if there's an alternative way to turn off my LED light. My phone hasn't been jailbroken and it is already out of warranty. Thank you!

Consider the possibility that you have broken the phone by dropping it "more or less 3 times". You can get an out of warranty replacement for a (reasonable) fraction of the retail price from Apple.

I may be experiencing a similar problem. My scenario is that the phone (4s) is 2 weeks old and won't power off. I hold down the button on the upper right for a few seconds, an option comes up to swipe to the right to "power off" the phone. I swipe this to the right and the phone powers off for only a few seconds and then automatically turns itself back on. This is a new problem for this phone. I was able to power it off previously, so I'm confident that it's not "pilot error". Here's something curious; if the phone is plugged into a wall charger it will power off and stay that way until disconnected from the outlet, even if the charger is still connected to the phone. I took this phone to an Apple store and the guy that helped me cleaned out the charging port claiming it was dirty and was successful at getting the phone to power off. However, by the next day the phone would not power off again. I found the dirty port thing a little curious while telling this story to a work mate and seeing his iPhones charging port clogged with plenty of visible dirt, lint and who knows what else, yet his phone works flawlessly. My charging port looks perfectly clean.

do a quick reset by holding your sync and home button for 10 seconds it should turn off the led light.... if not completely restore your iphone and back it up it should turn off by doing 1 of these 2 steps

Sorry, my previous post was meant for another thread.
You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

My iPhone will not turn off. I did a restore about a week ago to repair the problem following which the phone would turn off albeit with some difficulty: I had to hold the top button down and not merely click it before the phone turned off but not so long that I would get the shut-down screen.
Now, however, even after doing another restore, the iPhone will simply not turn off, no matter how long I hold down the top button. Nor do I ever get the shut-down screen. I've had to turn on the auto-lock option so that while I'm carrying the phone around it does not randomly dial or go online.
I'm guessing this might be a hardware failure but wanted to check first to see if anyone else has run into this problem.

If it's doing that after a restore, it more than likely issue on your logic board. I would contact Apple and get it serviced.

It might be a technical fault and I'd reccomend to visit Genius bar or find a repair shop.
Meanwhile, if you still want to turn off/on your screen as a temporary solution:
1. Go to settings
2. General
3. Accessibility
4. AssistiveTouch and turn it on (you should find a small square with a circle inside on your screen now)
5. Tap this small square to open AssistiveTouch menu
6. Tap Device and then Lock Screen
You should be able to turn off the screen now.

Try to force your phone into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the USB cord. Turn it off if you can by holding the sleep/wake switch until you see the red slide to off. Press and hold the home button while plugging it into the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. When i press the power down button and slide it to turn off it initially will power down, but then about 5 seconds later the phone will turn itself back on again. Why won't it stay off I tried holding the home button and it won't do anything. About two to three hours ago (give or take) I was having issues with connecting/syncing my iPhone 4 to my iTunes on my Laptop, thankfully that problem is solved. Now I am facing a weird issue, my phone stopped working- it will not turn on, almost like it's dead. I tried charging it, thinking that the battery was low and it died. Yet, the last time I was on it, the battery was at a 82 percent. I had also tried to reset it (press Home/Power button at the same time) and it still does not turn on. I'm confused and worried about this, does anyone have helpful information?

Once I get to the red slide button, it acts as if it is shutting down, then all of a sudden the apple sign reappears and it is back on

Software troubleshooting in order...
Restart: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Power Off slider appears. Power off then power back on.
If no change...
Reset: Press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for ten seconds until the Apple logo appears. Note: No data will be lost
If no change...
Restore: First from backup... If no change as New > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If still no change...
It may be a hardware issue... you should take the device to the closest Apple store and have it looked at.

Hi,
I am having the same problem. Itunes reports that it's uploaded all the music etc.
When I turn the match function on, it says "you are not currently subscribed to itunes match".
I have restarted the phone and coputer, logged in & out several times to no avail.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Iphone 4 screen is on but blank and will not turn off or reset...HELP!!!!
