LED status indicators on P45T-C51 (CPU Phase LEDs)

Hello,
I've just bought P45T-C51 motherboard.
What meens LED2 & LED3 blue light for CPU power phase mode? it is not described in user guide.
I've no video with asus graphic card and ati chipset EN8600GT.
Is this motherboard compatible with PENTIUM4 and CELERON?
Is there any answer or return to seller?

Please provide full system specs: >>Posting Guide<<

P4: Definately No!  Celeron: It depends on the Celeron Model you have.  Please look at the CPU Support List:

In case your problem boils down to a CPU that is not supported, there is no point in returning it to the reseller.  He will test the board and probably find out that it works just fine once a proper processor is installed.

  • P45-C51 - Noise from CPU Phase LEDs

    Hi,
I've just finished setting up a new PC based on the MSI P45-C51 (MS7519) mainboard (see full specs for the system in my signature).
Everything works fine, but.. The CPU Phase LEDs LED1, LED2, LED3 (the three blue LEDs in the upper right corner of the mainboard) emit some kind of very annoying high frequency noise as they flash (in sync with the hard drive activity LED on the front of the cabinet/tower).
It's very important for me that I have a silent PC, so I've gone into great detail choosing the most low-noise components for this specific machine. Everything on this machine is very silent - except for the motherboard, which I would have expected would be the least of my problems when creating a low-noise PC!
So my thoughts and questions are:
    - Is there any way I could turn off the flashing of CPU Phase LEDs (in BIOS, jumpers, software)?
    - Could it be a PSU issue (is 400W not enough for this setup)?
    - Or is it just a faulty mainboard (has other users experienced a similar noise from these LEDS)?
I don't even see the reason for why the LEDs are there. The mainboard manual only has a very short and practically useless explanation of the LEDs. It only says what power modes they show (1 and 3 phase power mode) - not when and what to use them for..
Hoping that someone can shed some light on this issue, and hopefully help me solve the problem..

Now that I found out that the problem wasn't related to the LEDs on the MSI mainboard, I shifted my focus towards the CPU - The Intel Core 2 Duo E8400.
From searching/reading about this specific processor on various pages found via a Google search, it sounds to me like a lot of other users have this issue to - it's called CPU whining - some kind of piezo vibrations caused by the extra power (that would normally be used by the CPU) which is being thrown back into capacitance when SpeedStep throttles down the CPU (no load). So it's not the CPU per-say, but the capacitors and voltage regulators that generates the noise (at least from what I am able to read). I guess it's not directly related to the MSI mainboard, and so maybe this post isn't even relevant in this forum any longer..
When I write it's not directly related to the MSI mainboard, I mean that perhaps if I mounted this CPU in another mainboard, maybe the problem would go away - so I think it might be the combination of this specific motherboard and this CPU that creates this noise. A lot of other Intel Core 2 Users doesn't seem to have this problem, while others again complain about it. I guess it's also a very subjective question about how sensitive your ears are to high-frequency noises (probably in the 15.000-18.000 KHz range). Some write that they hear the sound, but don't care, while others hear it (and like me, are annoyed by it) from across the room through music, conversation and/or other background noises.
Long story short, the users of the MSI HQ Forum (especially Jack t.N. - a lot og appreciation and thanks goes out to you, my friend  ) should not use more time and effort on this issue..
Except if there's something that I might still have missed in the BIOS settings, that you think I need to try out first, or if this "newfound knowledge" raises any other questions or inspires a possible solution!
I will leave the post open for a few days just in case.

  • Issue with K9N2 SLI Platinum LED Status Indicators?

I don't know if there is a problem or not with my K9N2 mb. When I turn my computer on the LED Status Indicators (LED 4-11) immediately show red, red, green green. It doesn't run through the usual initialization/tests that it would normally go through. However, my computer boots up just fine (using it right now). This combination of LED's says that there is a problem with initializing the IDE controller, but I don't have any IDE devices. So, I don't know if there is a problem or not, but I just don't want to ignore it either. It used to not do this, it would run through the initialization/tests normally. The only thing that I have done was upgrade the PSU from a Silverstone Zeus ST65ZF 650watt to a Ultra X4 1200watt. Any help or information would be appreciated, thanks.

Well, I guess that's nice to know.  As long as everything is working, I'll just ignore it. I was just wanting to be safe than sorry. Thanks.

  • P67A-GD65 (B3) CPU phase LED always on

After BIOS update to the latest 1.C0 (I think), on-board CPU phase LED operates wrong. All 6 lights are always on, regardless of actual CPU phase state. MSI control center reports variable (depending on load) LED state meanwhile.

At this time please provide your full system spec.  >>Posting Guide<<

  • P55-GD85 CMOS Pin #s and CPU Phase LEDs

    Howdy, folks.
Looking for some information that isn't in the manual.
I have a brand new P55-GD85 that won't POST.  Could be a lot of reasons, but I wanted to check that the CMOS jumper on JBAT1 was properly across pins 1/2.  The problem:  The manual doesn't orient the jumper on the board, and the board doesn't label the pins.  Does anyone know whether pin 1 is closest to the battery or furthest from it?
The jumper came from the factory sitting on the pin closest to the battery (plus the middle pin).  I assumed that the jumper was properly set at the factory, so I powered down the board and moved the jumper to the other pair for 30 seconds or so, and then re-seated the jumper where it started.  Before I did this, powering up the board turned on all of the blue LEDs on the CPU Phase panel, plus LED #1 on the CPU_VTT Phase panel.  Now, none of the LEDs lights at all (except CPU_VTT #2 blinks once if I use the reset button on the board).  The problem:  the manual does explain which LEDs are supposed to light up on boot, normally.  Does anyone know?  Was all of the LEDs lit a good thing or a bad thing?  Now that none light up, is that good or bad?  Is there any documentation for this?
The board came with a plastic cover across one of the two, 12 volt 4-pin ATX JPWR2 CPU power plugs (the one closest to the center of the board).  Nothing in the manual explains why or whether to use one, two or none of the JPWR2 plugs.   Anyone know why one had a plastic cover?  I plugged in both halves of the plug, anyway.
Here are the specs on the machine.  No overclocking, no tinkering, nothing changed on the board, and no peripherals.  I haven't even hooked up the USB headers.  Just the front panel power, which I unhooked once I had these problems.
    * P55-GF85 w/ i570-LGA1156 (on the supported CPU list)
    * 2x2GB G-Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL (correctly seated in DIMMs #1 and #3 -- testing with 1 stick at a time = no change.   This memory suggested by NewEgg and reported to work with this board)
    * Rocketfish 500W RF-500WPS2, which is not a great PSU long term, but at the moment the board isn't running a single HD or peripheral except some fans.  The PSU has 2 12v * 18A rails, and 18A on each of the +5 and +3.3.  The manual says "at least 18W" so this may be a problem.
    * An old GeForce 6500 card, which may not work, although it gets power.
Thanks, in advance, for any insight.

Google for pictures of the board (large/high-resolutioin images) to compare jumper positions.
The "keep data" position is usually just a parking position that does not much else electrically.  So, taking the jumper off the pin header altogether would also make sure that it is not wrongly placed.
Remove the board from the case and test it on an non-conducting surface in barebone configuration (just CPU, one stick of RAM, video card & power connectors [24-pin ATX, 12V CPU power, PCI-Express power connector]). Reseat CPU and heatsink as well and check for broken or bent CPU socket pins while you do that.

Test a video card that works for sure and also test a different PSU if nothing changes,

  • Big Bang XPower CPU phase Led is constantly moving

Hi, I just put my box together today and I noticed the CPU phase led array is constantly moving. Is this normal behavior?  The pc is essentially just idling. Thank you in advance for your help!

Under light/medium loads a few of them will cycle on and off as power requirements vary depending on the CPU load, under a heavy CPU load I'm sure you will see that all of them will light up.

  • MSI Z77A GD65 - CPU Phase LED Solid State when OC / Hard to boot up

    Problems:
    1. All settings are at stock and I having the difficulties to boot up. When I press the power button, all my fans light and CPU phase LED lights on and off.No more booting. Need to press several times on the power switch then it only will boot up.
    2. Whenever I tried to OC by changing the Vcore from auto to manual, all the CPU phase led will in solid mode. No more blinking. When I set the Vcore back to auto, it starts to blink.
    Approach taken:
    1. Have tried to disable EUP setting on bios. Results still the same.
    2. Have tried to disable all the power saving settings ,results still the same. CPU phase LED keep in solid mode.
    3. have tried to clear CMOS several times but still facing boot up difficulties.
In addition, previously when I am using the same hardware with another brand,it boots up normally. No issue.
To add, I am using Vantec Ion 750W plus modular PSU.
    tq

If it wasn't such a mission to remove that monster cooler of yours, I would recommend you remove the CPU for a proper socket pin inspection. You may just have to do that as a bent pin or two can cause such anomalies.
I would also test with another known working PSU.
Beta BIOS versions are available here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=158257.0  and I have been using the .A67 with no apparant problems. works great.
Always use the forum flasher .  see here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=119375.0

  • Not booting/no signal (CPU Phase LED's)

I was at a LAN recently, were my computer worked as normal. I tidied some of the cable management, and when I turned it on, there was no signal to the monitor. I noticed only 1 of the 4 CPU Phase LED's were lit. (MSI Z77A-G45) I've tried without GPU, different memory configs, another PSU, without drives. Still no signal.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    >>Clear CMOS<< and retry with one stick of ram. Did you run Live Update lately?
Cleared CMOS and tried with 1 stick of RAM. Same results :/ Does is matter what DIMM-slot the RAM is in? I can't remember anything about Live Update, as I said it worked perfectly at the LAN-party before I got home. What does it mean when only 1 of the 4 CPU Phase LED's are on?

  • MSI P43T-C51 or P45T-C51 for overclocking Q6600 ??

    Hello everyone..
My current system specs are :
    Q6600 2.4ghz (b3 )
    2gb transcend jet ram 800Mhz
    250gb HDD,
    500W Cooler master Extreme power
    8600GT 256MB XFX GPU
    View Sonic 1921-VM
I plan on upgrading my pc by buying msi mobo & i am on tight budget too plus i plan to upgrade to 460gtx 1gb hawk too so that i can squeez out more juice from my Q6600 for 2 more years.
Have many questions today & my questions are :
    1. MSI P43T-C51 or P45T-C51 which among these is a good overclocker?
    2. Should i go for ddr2 set up or get P45-C51 which is ddr3 setup .
    3. Will B3 processor get stable 3.4ghz or 3.6ghz OC on any of these mobo ?
    4. Which cpu cooler should i buy ??
    5. Last but not the least will Q6600 will be a bottle neck for 460gtx ?
Please help me sort things out..
    Thank You..

I don't know, since I never tested these boards personally.  Both are not really "High End" boards, so there aren't really that many users using them for serious OC.

    2. Should i go for ddr2 set up or get P45-C51 which is ddr3 setup .
I'd go for DDR3.  If you upgrade to another board in the future, DDR2 modules probably won't be of use to you anymore.

    3. Will B3 processor get stable 3.4ghz or 3.6ghz OC on any of these mobo ?
There really is no definate answer to that, really as two different exemplars of the same processor or board may show different OC behaviour.

    4. Which cpu cooler should i buy ??
What is your budget for a CPU Cooler?  Do you prefer air-cooling or perhaps water-cooling?  Check out the Corsair H50 and H70 CPU coolers (both are pre-built water coolers.  You just have to install them like a heatsink and don't worry about much more.

  • CPU Phase Control

My cpu phase control led lights no longer works. None of them are on, even when I load the default settings. The question is it just the lights or the whole phase control? Did I turn these on/off accidentally? I just bought this board on Dec. 26th from NCIX but it is a revision 1 board. I think I read somewhere rev. 1 boards seemed to have the phase control problems but not sure if this is true or not. Please advise on a solution or solutions to try before I RMA this board. Also can you let me know the differences between rev. 1 and revision 1.1?

Please unplug your PSU from A/C power and >>Clear CMOS<<.  Then load "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS Setup and check your APS Settings.
Also, please tell us your current BIOS Version.  >>Posting Guide<<

Also can you let me know the differences between rev. 1 and revision 1.1?
Usually only minor changes, that are generally not documented anywhere.  So no, I have no idea what the exact differences are.  Sometimes it is just a different type/brand of capacitor that will make them changes the revision ID (which on the other hand does not mean that there was any problem with the original layout -> so, rest assured, the fact that you do not have a revision 1.1 board does definately not mean that the revision you have was found to be "faulty" in any way).

  • What is CPU Phase control?

In my P67A-C45 green power menu the first option entry is CPU Phase Control and there are two option: what is difference from APS and Intel SVID Mode?
    Thanks in advance!

CPU Phase Control refers to the load-dependent automatic CPU PWM Phase switching logic (the number of phases used varies with CPU load).  APS is the board's control logic and Intel SVID is the CPU's own control logic for this kind of phase control.  Use whatever works best for you.

  • CPU phase control by default after wake up (Z97 Gaming 3)

    Hello,
I've juste bought a MSI Z97 Gaming 3 to replace my MSI Z87-G45.
I want to inform you that when CPU phase control is set to "optimized", this setting is restored to default mode after waking up.
I made many tests to confirm this :
    - with optimized before sleep and wake up, my IDLE consumption is 37W
    - with optimized after sleep and wake up, my IDLE consumption is 42W
    - with default setting, my IDLE consumption is always 42W
Changing Windows energy settings didn't fix this issue. Changing wake up settings in the BIOS didn't correct this issue.
Could you fix it in your next BIOS ?
Moreover, I didn't get what it exactly came from but my system crashed few times. It seems that it is a problem with fast RAM boot setting.
    Thanks

    I'm using P67A-GD55 (BIOS ver.1.7) and i5-2500K.
I changed "Adjust CPU Ratio" and I found "CPU Phase Control" was disabled automatically.
    1. Click "Green Power" and set "CPU Phase Control" to "APS Mode".
    2. Click "OC" and set "Adjust CPU Ratio" to "33"
(It's a default value, but please click the number "33").
    3. Click "Green Power" and check "CPU Phase Control".
    It is changed to "Disabled".
Please keep "CPU Phase Control = APS Mode".

    Thanks for the info.
I had another account and I reported a BIOS bug a few years ago.
    MSI fixed it soon.
I remember that, so I bought the MSI mainboard.

Nope, your user manual will list some. But there is no place that I know of that lists all (or even a majority of them).

  • Msi z68 gen 3(gd 80) cpu phase lights

I just put together my pc about 4 days ago, everything worked fine, I turned it on about an hour ago and realize my primary bios failed(i never flashed) it came with bios version 18.5b1.  I cleared the cmos and removed the battery and unplugged my psu cord and placed them back the way it should be.  I now realize my cpu phase light is constantly blinking and I am not running any program the desktop is just sitting there idling.
Should it be doing that?  I don't remember my previous board every doing this.

I don't see the eup2013 and as far as this being an oc failure...it was at 4.2 but i only changed the cpu ratio and everything was all good...I ran prime for 10 +hours and no problem...I am looking for this other test that i saw some guys use to do stability test besides i think it might have been called lightwave or some sort... I ran occt for 5 hrs and i was good, turn my pc on yesterday fine and today bios failure and like i stated before this was stock bios.
I think I remember seeing that in the gd 65 but I don't see it here in the 80...also i have the ballistix ddr3 2000, I am unable to run it at its rated speeds of that I am stuck at 1866.  Any comments on that one?
http://www.techpowerup.com/gallery/3152.html that is my pc there...aside from a few upgrades i believe that still shows the gd 65 and the corsair h60 i have since gone with the gd80 n h100 was also thinking of changing the case to the corsair carbide 500r white/black but the only think i don't like is it not having an external hdd dock
