Left external speaker stopped working

Left external speaker stopped working, right works fine. When I connect headphones, they work fine. Have tried two different sets of speakers, deleted plists and reset pram. Please help!

Hmm. I think its not a sound card and its not a speaker problem because both parts (left speaker and sound card) seems to be ok as you have posted in your message.
Im not quite sure what could be wrong but possibly this issue has something to do with the headphone jack there is a tiny switch inside the headphone jack which enables and disables the speakers if the headphone jack has been plugged.
Maybe this switch does not work properly.
What to say in such case the hardware needs to be replaced but in most cases the headphone jack is a part of the motherboard and in such case the whole mobo needs to be replaced and I think this is not worth because of the high parts costs

  • External Speaker stopped working - get sound through headset

I have a Zire 72.  The external speaker stopped working.  If I listen to music or voice memos through a headset, I can hear the message so the programs are working.  I have tried a soft reset but no results.  Has anyone had this expierience?  Sounds and alerts all set to high in preferences.
    Thanks.

The speaker cutoff switch may be stuck in the headset jack.
    Try this procedure.
Turn the Z72 off. Get a non-conductive electrical contact cleaner (Home Depot has this in the electrical dept.)
Spray a few drops on the headset plug.
Insert and remove the plug in the headphone jack 5-10 times.
Wait several minutes for the cleaner to dry.
Power on the Z72 and see if the speaker works. If not, try the procedure again.

  • External speaker stopped working

My external speaker on my i-phone 4s stopped working suddenly.  I was told to hold both the round button & the start up button together to reset.  This seemed to work for a half a second, then it cut right back out again.

which speaker? the phone may be stuck in 'headphone' mode, try plugging and unplugging the headphones a couple of time. just in case-there is only 1 speaker on the bottom of the phone, the other is a microphone.

  • Anyone elses 15" Retina left "bass" speaker stopped working?

I'll be taking it in to get fixed soon, but was just curious if anyone else has had this fault?
The macbook is otherwise fantastic, but the left bass speaker (I can hear treble coming through both speaker sides when I cover my hand over the right "bass" speaker). Of course it's not really a bass speaker, but more of a mid-range, but anyway...

    Hi,
    Try a PRAM reset.
If that does not fix it, you may need to take it in to the Apple Genius bar. It could be a hardware problem.
Is there a red light showing in the headphone plug-in port? If so you could try plugging the headphones in and out several times.

  • External speakers stopped working when Yosemiti was down loaded

My external speakers stopped working when I downloaded Yosemiti! how can I remedy this?

Dunno what it has to do with Yosemite, but:  press the alt/option key, while clicking on the speaker icon at the right hand top of your screen. This will show you all the sound inputs and outputs for your mac. Ensure that it is set to "Line Out" or "Digital out" (depending on your speaker's capabilities. Hopefully
    that works

  • External Speakers stopped working on Imac

External speakers stopped working.   Verified speakers operating with Iphone.   Checked that speakers plugged in correctly.   Tried usual power cycling step.   External speakers do not show up in sound preferences.    Anyone with any advice?
    Thanks,

If you unplug the speakers to the internal speakers work OK? If not try  resetting the system PRAM see Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
If they still don't work or if the internal works OK then look into the speaker plug. Do you see a red light? There is a switch inside the plug that detects the presents of a  jack and sometimes it gets stuck or breaks entirely.
You could try gently using a non-conductive device (a toothpick is good) probing inside the plug to see if you can free the switch. Of course this could be harmful if done incorrectly. If the system is still under warranty you might want to take it to have it looked at.

  • SL410 - One speaker stopped working - lcd hinge problem ?

SL410 here - I noticed the right speaker stopped working. It works intermittently if I press down on the left side of the lcd screen or the hinge. I believe the wires are being routed from that hinge (?). Audio out of the headphone jack works just fine.
Any ideas what might be going on ? Is this a known issue with a known fix ? Would it require major surgery to fix this ?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that right speaker of your Lenovo ThinkPad SL410 stopped working.
Since the headphones work fine and you hear intermittent audio while pressing the LCD/hinge, chances are that the wire that goes to the right speaker is probably loose or the speaker itself needs to be replaced.
Refer the hardware maintenance manual to understand how to remove the speaker assembly and check.
If your system is under warranty, I strongly recommend you to contact our technical support for assistance.

  • Left ear piece stopped working w/my iPod mini

Just like the subject line says, the left ear piece stopped working with my iPod mini after using a regular pair of black headphones for a couple weeks. Gee, this must mean your headphones were garbage? Well I purchased a pair of $5 ear phones that didn't work well at all with my iPod. Gee, I keep buying cheap ear phones. How about purchasing the authentic Apple ear buds? Well that's exactly what I did 3 weeks ago. After purchasing the ear buds for $30 that were made by Apple with the assumption it must work just fine, I tested them and found out they didn't work, however I plugged them into other devices and it worked just fine. I exchanged the pair and same problem.
So yeah, something is effed up with my iPod where it won't play any audio in the left ear bud, however when I plug my ear phones or headphones into the slot on the iPod about half way in then I can hear the music just fine on both sides.
What do I do? Am I stuck with Apple's problem with their product for good? Can they do something about this problem? Is there any steps I can follow to open the 'pod and fix it myself?

This has helped people hearing warbled sound through their earbuds. Maybe it could help you, too?
    "Hello everybody,
I have found a solution for my problem, I hope it can help you guys too. I found this following link to get my ipod open:
    http://www.answerbag.com/q_view.php/30180
When I opened it I discovered that the connection to the little print (?) where you plug in your headphones was loose (it is a piece with both the headphone plug and the hold function). So I simply reconnected it, and voila, my ipod was fixed! Good luck!"
"I had the same problem and fixed it by following the procedures to opening the mini to replace the battery. Then you will see the CB that the headphones plugs into. This CB (circuit board) plugs into the main ( mother board )
Mine had worked it's way partly out. I pushed this plug back on securely and the headphones now work. Hope this helps. You can find the instructions for changing the battery by googling changing the battery on a mini IPOD."

  • Main speaker stopped working. Phone does not ring, sound only through earpiece/headphone. What to do?

main speaker stopped working. Phone does not ring, sound only through earpiece/headphone. What to do?

I spoke to the reseller today and they aggred to exchanged it. They didn't elaborate on the actual cause but thought that it had to be a hardware issue.
It could either be the issue that Euvix suggested or it could be as simple as the outer speaker is simply not working.
Anesi, did you use the phone before the upgrade? Looking at what you've written I take you didn't so I would go back and get it exchanged.
