Left high and dry with bad advice for 8 days

I just want to voice my frustration with BT, last Monday (september 23rd), my broadband went down because I was moving from the Business to Residential service and I was disconnected. I rang BT and was told an engineer would need to come out on Tuesday which is tomorrow (October 1st).
8 days is a bit of a wait for a disconnection which in my view should not have happened! That same day, an email arrived to tell me I am up and running but, when I tested it appeared this would not be the case. Tonight (September 30th) I took a notion and searched the internet for the BT Residential username for BT infinity and fed it into my bt business hub, and to my surprise the internet has started going....therefore, for the last 8 days I have actually had internet in the house, if BT had have advised me that changing the username/password in the router would have gotten my service going I would have done this 8 days ago.
I live in a cable-less house, which means that everything including Television relies on internet. This is not acceptable in my view and I demand an official response in writing from BT to explain WHY I was left high and dry for 8 days, the technician visit tomorrow is just pointless now!

HDCP - High and Dry : Content Protected

Hi,
I am getting a bit concerned that Apple are going to leave Cinema Display users high and dry when it comes to HDCP. I'd like to think that this can be solved with either a £200 new graphics card or a firmware update - and that my newly bought display is not going to be left unable to to play content.
I didn't even realise HDCP existed until I started reading forums yesterday about those with AppleTV unable to play content. I'm pretty concerned now.
Any OS X native solutions? I have already submitted a suggestion to Apple.
Can this be solved with a firmware update, as DVI will support HDCP? I realise that both graphics card and monitor must support the HDCP protocol.

Whether or not the your Cinema will ever support HDCP or not has a lot to do with what hardware is inside it. If the TMDS receiver within the Cinema has an HDCP option that was not enabled by Apple, then it could possibly be firmware upgraded to include HDCP functionality in theory. But unless someone knows what chip Apple is using to receive TMDS (DVI), then the question can't be answered. If I were the betting sort, I would put money on your Cinema going to its grave without ever supporting HDCP.

I'm not sure I understand the question.
First I would update your iTunes match. iTunes match will tell you what is duplicates and then you can just delete them from the library.
Second, the course in a situation like this is to delete ONE duplicate and see what happens. Make sure you have that song backed up somewhere just incase it deletes it completely. But usually I'd delete one and then see if it deletes both or just the one you pressed.
Thirdly, update iTunes match. It usually does a good job of locating actual duplicates.

I'm not quite sure what you want - if you want an overview of all open windows, use the F key.. Otherwise please post back and be more specific.

Premiere Pro CS6 and CC with bad quality and incorrect colors in output video

I'm frustrated with my results after exporting a video with Adobe Premiere Pro (both CS6 and CC).
The color of the video output is slightly different to the original file (i've checked if it was a problem with my video player, but no, i've tested the video with WMP and others with no success).
Also the video quality is a little bad compared to the original file (i even tried to use frame blending once).
Notice that i'm not using any effects or anything alike, and i'm a begginer in video editing.

I'm exporting the video using almost the same parameters from the original file.
Here's a screen shot of my settings in Premiere:
As you can see in the printscreen, the settings only differ from the original file parameters in the bit rate (which i raised a little),
the TV standard (which i have no ideia what it changes), the level of H.264 (which i raised from 4.0 to 4.1, 5.0 and 5.1), and the bit rate encoding (which i've tried using CBR, VBR 1, and VBR 2).
Just for my curiosity...why these numbers in orange are so extensive? I mean, the original video is only 01:35:30:06 in final output (which is correct).
Notice that i do not use key frame distance (as i don't know what it does).
If i'm doing something wrong, please tell me.

Well if i do that, the video will raise up GBs larger (and that is really bad).
Why is it really bad?
Its a fact of digital life. High datarate = quality.
example ...even the Youtube preset is in the 8mpbs area.
...and you are exporting 1 hr 35mins of media.

Help required with badi implementation for IBASE

I have implemented and activated a BADI (Defination name: BADI_IBASE_SAVE_CHCK). This BADI is for additional checks before changes to an IBASE is saved. However, this BADI is not getting triggered.
I tried debugging the transaction IB52 during the SAVE operation, but couldnt get the reason.
Can anyone help me out with this...
I implemeted the BADI from the SPRO transaction in the following path.
SPRO>Customer Relationship Management>Master Data>Installed Base> Enhancements-->BADI:Additional check when saving Installed Base.

Rollup 8 for Exchange 2010 SP2 causes EWS error with bad parameter for Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService

When I installed Rollup 8 for Exchange 2010 SP2 it caused an error in EWS
EWS failed with the error:
exchange web service could not load file or assembly Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService bad parameter
When I uninstalled the rollup all worked fine again.
Any ideas, Thanks in advance?

To apply this update rollup, you must have Exchange Server 2010 SP2 installed. And remove all interim updates for Exchange Server 2010 SP2 before you apply this update rollup. Please check your installation deployment by the following article:

Using JHS tables and hashing with salt algorithms for Weblogic security

We are going to do our first enterprise ADF/JHeadstart application. For security part, we are going to do the following:
1. We will use JHS tables as authentication for ADF security.
2. We will use JAAS as authentication and Custom as authorization.
2. We need to use JHeadStart security service screen in our application to manage users, roles and permission, instead of doing users/groups management within Weblogic.
3. We will create new Weblogic SQL Authentication Provider.
4. We will store salt with password in the database table.
5. We will use Oracle MDS.
There are some blogs online giving detail steps on how to create Weblogic SQL Authentication Provider and use JHS tables as authentication for ADF security. I am not sure about the implementation of hashing with salt algorithms, as ideally we'd like to use JHS security service screen in the application to manage users, roles and permission, not using Weblogic to do the users/groups management. We are going to try JMX client to interact with Weblogic API, looks like it is a flexiable approach. Does anybody have experience on working with JMX, SQL Authentication Provider and hashing with salt algorithms? Just want to make sure we are on the right track.

Faulty RAM and dispute with supplier - Advice needed

Hi,
A 2gb chip of RAM has developed a fault in my Mac Pro taking it from a full 16gb RAM to 12gb (that's a 4gb loss because the chips work in pairs so the paired chip is rendered useless without the faulty chip). I am currently in a bit of dispute with the company that I bought the Mac from about replacing the RAM. The Mac Pro was purchased in 2009 with the 16gb RAM pre-installed.
The RAM is Kingston RAM and comes with a "lifetime warranty". However that warranty is pretty useless since Kingston have stopped manufacturing the chip I need!! The computer supplier have offered to refund me for the 4gb of RAM that would leave me with an underpowered machine and a little extra cash that I can't even use to buy more RAM since it has to be Kingston to work with the other 12gb. Not a situation that I find in any way satisfactory for obvious reasons.
Alternatively, they have offered to pay for half the cost of replacing the entire 16gb set with new Crucial RAM (who are still making compatible RAM) with me making up the other half of the cost - this would cost me approx £200.
However, I feel that since I have been sold a piece of faulty kit that was supposedly guaranteed for a "lifetime" that it isn't right that I should now have to pay £200 to restore my Mac to it's initial RAM capacity. I have already paid for the RAM. I shouldn't have to pay twice, given it's "lifetime warranty". I feel that it was their error to use a supplier of RAM who stops production so soon of chips that are only a few years old and that therefore they should replace the entire 16gb set with Crucial RAM, free of charge.
I'm still in discussions with the company but would appreciate people's thoughts on this issue. Am I being unreasonable? How would you tackle it? What kind of service should I expect in this situation?

If this was 2009 and 4GB DIMMs (DDR3 ECC) had just come out, then there were issues, but you don't and this isn't that. Or using DDR3 8GB or 16GB. Not that either.

Monitor and i/o hardware advice for fcp6 editor

I am a videographer who mostly creates content for the web. I have an upcoming project for local broadcast and would like to get a calibrated video monitor for editing. Can anyone advise on a monitor and other hardware for someone on a budget. Matrox? Ideally it would be a flat screen monitor that isnt too big.
I shoot DVCPRO HD (hpx170) to p2 cards, then log and transfer to FCP 6. I keep my media on a 4TB esata enclosure. I have a G5 dual 2.7 mac powerPC and will probably upgrade to a new intel tower when they come out in June. Presently I don't have the need to capture uncompressed HD but wouldn't mind having the ability to do so if possible. The HPX170 doesnt have an hdmi out, so I don't think I could do so with a matrox. Is it possible to get uncompressed HD out of the HPX thru HD/SDI into a mac g5 and fcp6? or an intel macbook pro?

For reference, I have the same G5 dual 2.7 PowerPC tower, FCP6 and shoot DVCProHD to P2 (An HPX500 for me). My research findings were that neither the AJA I/O HD or the Matrox solutions will work with a PowerPC for HD - we both need to upgrade to Intel machines for that. Both my tower and my Intel macBookPro work great with my AJA I/O for uncompressed SD, but as we know, HD is another beast all together.
For what it's worth, I don't think that outputting material RECORDED to P2 as DVCProHD will give you anything by "uncompressing" it - DVCProHD is 4:2:2 8-bit and won't get any better... (live feed from a camera may be another matter).
Bottom line - Both the Matrox and AJA solutions have been getting great reviews with Intel machines, I guess the writing is on the wall for us!

My apple TV is not working. It is showing the Itunes log with the white sync cable. it has been like that for days.

That means you have to hook it up to your Mac/win PC and restore it from within iTunes using a micro-USB cable.
