Left my iPad connected to my Windows XP Laptop Overnight - It charged

I'm finding that if my iPad is left connected to my Windows XP laptop overnight (following a sync) that in the morning it's battery is fully charged. However, when I initially connect it and sync it the iPad clearly says 'Not Charging' in the top of the display. Further more, I've read it should not charge while connected to a Windows laptop and that I need to use the included power adapter.
Any idea what may be happening here?

From what I've heard, there's typically not enough juice coming from some standard USB ports to charge the iPad while it's turned on. But when the screen is off, then the USB port may be able to charge it although at a much slower rate than the AC plug-in charger.

I have a MacBook with Snow Leopard 10.6.8. The last few weeks it has been constantly dropping internet connection, and one of these messages appear on the page: "Safari cannot open this page because the server where this page is located isn't responding" or "Safari cannot open this page because you are not connected to the internet" comes up. I will check Wifi and I am connected. No wifi connectivity issues with iphone or windows 7 laptop, this doesn't happen with either of those devices. I have unplugged and reset router, cleared cache, still happening. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • Palm TX won't connect to new Windows 7 laptop

I've been trying to get my TX to connect to a new Toshiba laptop.  I first tried to hotsync via USB and discovered on this forum why that wouldn't work - no 64-bit USB driver, apparently.  I read as much as I could find here, and tried everything I could, and I think I'm close to a solution, but I'm stuck.
I set up an ad-hoc network on the laptop and connected to it in the laptop's control panel>network and sharing center>connect to a network.  It shows the ad-hoc network as connected, "waiting for users."  When I scan for networks in the TX, it finds the ad hoc network, but won't connect to it.
In a Palm.com support link I found here, it said that I can't sync via wifi until I have synced via cable, which of course I can't do.  Is that my problem?  I'm thinking it's not; at least, not yet.  I need to establish the connection before I can attempt a wifi  hotsync.

Before we go on, I would suggest using the free "NVBackup" to make a perfect compressed copy of your TX placed on your SD card.  This will insure no data loss.  If you're already using it, Great!  If not, you can find it here:  NVBackup
Ok, let's review.  You are trying to sync via Wifi to your new Win7 laptop, correct?  And you have successfully installed Palm Desktop by Access version 6.2.2.
You've been following my guide from the "How to sync a TX to Vista64 via Wifi" thread.
The laptop is connected wirelessly to your router and can go online.  You've made the necessary setting changes in the Hotsync Manager (to make it use a "Network TCP/IP" connection).   HotSync Manager is present and running and has been allowed through the Firewall(s).   You've determined the exact IP address of the laptop by either using the DOS command   "ipconfig /all"  or by viewing the active connections list in your router's status pages, and entered the numbers correctly on the TX.
On your TX, you've opened the HotSync icon, and checked the pull-down menu:  Modem Sync prefs is set to "Network" and LANSync Prefs is set to "LANSync" (not Local Hotsync).
The TX has Wifi turned on, and is connected to your network.  Pressing the HotSync button on the TX's screen should initiate a connection to the laptop.
One glitch I ran into the other night.  Recently, I changed the encryption scheme on my router to WPA2 (AES) to gain speed with my /n laptop.  The TX can handle this since I installed the paid Wifi update on it.  It did begin to have problems completing a Wifi HotSync!    The laptop started the HotSync fine, but it ended before completion each time.  (The $6 update is not necessary to sync via Wifi.  Things worked well previously).
My solution?  Hard-wire into the router with a LAN cable.  I turned off the Wifi on the laptop via the switch, cabled into the router and found my new IP address.  I entered it into the TX and away we Synced!
If you still have problems, it might require reinstalling Palm Desktop with all the precautions in place -- Admin prviledges, Anti Virus software turned off during the install, etc.  See if you can sync with the desktop before importing your data.
I know this method works, and several other users have chimed in on the sticky thread that Win7 works this way too!

  • TS1538 I'm trying to synch my Ipad/iphone on my Windows 8 Laptop.  when plugged in it recognises them as storage devices but they don't appear as devices in itunes for me to synch with.  Help

Hi.  I'm trying to Sync both my IPhone and IPad having just updated Itunes on my windows 8 laptop.  Although the laptop recognises both devices and both devices ask if I trust the laptop they don't then appear in ITunes as devices for me to Sync with.  Help.

No, that doesn't work for me.  And things seem to be inconsistent.  Where it lets you vary the file size (small/medium/large/actual) when large and actual are the same, it doesn't send the actual jpeg file for windows to open.  When large and actual size files are different when you toggle between the two, the file seems to go through to my windows pc ok.  When I tried this through preview, that's when I noticed this difference, not through just email or Aperture yet.  Help!

  • WRT160N connects wirelessly on Windows 7 laptop, but not on Windows XP

Windows XP was working well on WRT54G, but obtained additional laptop which has Windows 7 which evidently was not compatible with WRT54G according to the trouble shooter on Windows 7. So, bought a WRT160N, which I believe is Version 3.
    1. Ran the setup for the WRT160N on the XP computer and went fine. But when trying to connect wirelessly, the connection screen sits there trying to connect to the router with indication stating "Verifying Identity". The number of packets being received only amounts to about     3. The LAN cable works like a champ, though this is not the purpose of a wireless router.
    2. I applied the WEP password to the Windows 7 Laptop and it works great.
    3. What to I need to do to clean up the connection to the Windows XP computer?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Click on the Start button >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections- Here right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon and select Properties- Click on the 'Authentication' tab- Uncheck "Enable network access control using IEEE 802.1x" and click on Ok. Now,again go to Network Connection and try to connect the Wireless Network.

  • I bought an ipad 2 from a foreigner. But the person had the Find my iphone turned on. Last week i left the ipad connected to itunes which upgraded the ios. Now it asks for apple ID which i don't have. So what can I do??

No apple ID to activate. Previous owner's contact info isn't with me.

If a second-hand iOS device has been 'Activation locked' then only the previous owner can unlock it, either by providing you with the account ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (as he should have done before selling it) - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
If you are unable to contact him to do this then I'm afraid you will not be able to use the device - there is no other way of unlocking it at all. Apple cannot unlock it for you.

  • Wireless connection between cable imac and laptop Windows,

This should be an easy question so here goes. I currently have an Imac with a cable connection. I plan to buy a Windows laptop within the next week. I want to be able to access the internet with the laptop from another room. There are airports and routers from Apple and wireless network cards for Windows. I'm confused. What's the simplest way for my Mac to wirlessly connect to the Window's laptop so that I can access the web from another room?

    1. Your new laptop needs to have a wireless card.
    2. You then need a wireless router with several lan ports.
The iMac will connect to the router via ethernet cable to one of the lan ports and your laptop should connect via the wireless connection. There are many wireless routers out there that will do the job. Check out the Linksys wrt54g. make sure your laptop comes with a wireless card built it.

  • Photosmart 6180 All-in-One Wireless Connection After Windows 7 Laptop Added to Network

I replaced a broken Vista laptop with a new Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  After I installed my Photosmart 6180 All-in-One, the printer stopped working correctly when we try to connect to it wirelessly.
I followed all the directions HP provides for updating the printer software and drivers for Windows 7.
We've tried all the suggestions for resetting the printer that we can find on the HP forums.
The printer works properly when connected via USB cable to a Vista laptop.
I was not able to get the printer to work via USB cable connected to the Windows 7 laptop.
When we try to connect via the wireless signal, regardless of Vista or Windows 7, the printer goes into an endless initialization loop.
We need to determine whether achieving a wireless connection is hopeless.  If it is not, we need step-by-step instructions on how to resolve the issue.
The security system for the printer is WEP.  We connect through a wireless router provided by Verizon FIOS.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Some of HP's printers do not support WEP shared.  If you are using WEP shared this could be the problem.  I would suggest turning off the WEP security temporarily to see if that fixes the issue.  If it does then you can look at changing the security to WEP Open system authentication.

  • 3rd Generation iPod Touch crashing Windows 7 laptop

I have tried fixing this problem myself but have not been able to come up with anything, so far I have updated all of the drivers on my computer and tried reinstalling iTunes.
When the device is connected, the computer immediately shuts down, there are no blue screens or anything of the sort. The first few times this happened the laptop would not turn back on until we removed the battery for an extended period of time.
Even without iTunes installed, this problem persisted. Any help would be appreciated.

We successfully connected to another Windows 7 laptop without a crash occuring, unfortunately we haven't been able to test it on a computer that had iTunes installed.
But the iPod has been working on other computers in the past, so I'm assuming it's an issue with the laptop.

Are you using DHCP to allocate IP addresses via your router or Static IP allocation?
You may have an IP conflict in your network.
Check on your various network configuration parameters in your iPad, PC and WiFi router.
