Left - Right Balance

I run iTunes with an external sound card (actually Tascam 428 surface controller), on which two active monitors. So I cannot fine tune the left-right balance with the system pref panel for sound, because it's not in use. The software controlling audio settings of the Tascam doesn't take this balance in charge either.
Is there any possibility (or additionnal third-party software?) to set the L-R bal on this iMac? Any idea? Thank to all for any input. Henri

Should I post this somewhere else? Or is it really utopia? Thks

  • Left-right balance control

I have a severe hearing loss in my left ear, and a mild loss in my right. Is there ANY way to adjust the balance on my ipod nano (3rd gen.) OR any other ipod OR a set of earbud/headphones so that the left earbud/earphone is louder? Surely I am not the only person who deals with this problem! If computer technology has programs to assist the blind & hearing impaired, why don't ipods have something as simple as balance control? Please let me know what I can do! I hate hearing mostly right sided music.

  • Adjusting Left And Right Balance for INPUT - SB Audigy 2

    Hi Guys,
<SPAN class=52245242-27042005>I'm using an SB Audigy 2 ZS with the latest drivers. I realize that it is possible to adjust the left/right balance for speaker OUTPUT, but Is it possible to adjust the left/right balance for the inputs? I'm doing some recording and I want to set different input levels for the left and right side of the CD Digital In as well as the Aux Line In. So either either a way to control left/right input balance or seperate input levels for left/right would be helpful.

Thanks but I need real time. If I use a mic for the right input and a seperate mic for the left input I want to be able to set the optimum recording level for each side/mic. If I just set the level for the louder of the 2 mics then the other mic level on the other side is set too low You would think that Creative could have included this as a software control.
Also, if I record using the "Digital Input' and the 'Aux Line In" at the same time then you must select "Record What You Hear" from the Creative Control Panel. Both sources are mixed togther, if I could set the CD Digatl output to left side only then I could record CD Digital on the left side and Line Input on the right.
I just wish the Audigy could do this as it would be a cheap software control, I don't won't to buy another soundcard.

  • My balance sounds horrible when is at the center ... it only happen when I plug my Headphones... if a move the balance to the left/right i have a mono sound in my headphonesleft/right

My balance sounds horrible when is at the center ... it only happen when I plug my Headphones... if I move the balance to the left/right i have a mono sound in my headphones left/right

I too am experiencing this issue after upgrading to Mavericks. Headphone audio balance seems to always stick to the far right. When moved to the center, it still only outputs sound to the right side. I have to constantly adjust the setting a little to the left of center for both sides to output sound equally.

  • Adjusting left/right sound balance

I have some "play along" music tracks to practice playing musical instruments with. Many have just drums, bass and piano, with bass and piano panned to extreme left and right. To practice bass, for example, one adjusts the balance to extreme right to remove the bass part from the recording. I have not found a way to do this on my iPod or on iTunes. Is it possible?
Either playing the right channel only (this is what a traditional balance control would do) or playing the right channel through both stereo channels would be good solutions. Alternatively, can one preprocess the track in some way to replace both channels by the right channel in the sound file itself?
Unfortunately it isn't possible to adjust the balance on the iPod dock (with speakers) that I'm using.
    Many thanks in anticipation

Well, keep experimenting with the left/right panning and the various parameters you can program into the reverb effect!
There are no rules with regard to recording and mixing, but traditionally the bass drum, the bass guitar, and the lead vocal are mixed in the center, and the other instruments and harmony vocals are spread out to the left and right to varying degrees. The different drums in the drum kit are often panned to different positions mimicking the physical layout of the drum kit (left to right).
As far as reverb goes, realize that you can set different amounts and kinds of reverbs on different instrumental and vocal tracks; you don't have to send every instrument to the same stereo reverb effect. If you do so, you'll lose the ability to position sounds where you want them to be. The other element is the wet/dry mix. When you send a sound to a reverb effect, you decide what percentage of the signal goes to the effect (wet) and what percentage bypasses the reverb and goes straight out to the left and right speakers (dry) according to the pan setting for that track.
Listen to your CD collection. Pick some music that you like that is similar in style to what you are recording. Play a song over and over again and take note of where each instrument is placed in the stereo field. Then learn how to replicate that effect in your GarageBand tracks using panning and reverb. Studying well-recorded music is the best way to figure out how to do things on your own.

  • Is there a way to adjust the left/right output?

Is there a way to adjust the left/right output on the iPod?
Mine seems to push a little harder on the left side no matter which
ear devices I use.  My hearing in my right ear is a little weaker,
so I'm hearing mostly just the left side instead of an equal balance.
My best earphones don't fit the same way when reversed, so they don't
sound anywhere near the way they should.  You know the drill-- no
fit, no seal, no bass... no good.
And, yes, I know I can make a crossed connector cable...
    Thanks for responding.

using the 30 pin connector means it bypass the volume switch so you can't adjust the volume, see adjust the EQ setting helps. Otherwise you have to add the switch (a pre-amp etc) in between the iPod and your device

  • After iOS 7 sound output is unbalanced left/right

On my GSM iPhone 4, after upgrade music output (left/right) is not balanced. How to fix?

There's a slider to adjust the headphone volume balance under Settings > General > Accessibility (in the 'hearing' section).
I had this problem too and it turns out that my earphones, rather than the phone, are at fault. Try with another pair of earphones, if you have one handy.

  • Alt shortcuts not working for alt-left/right or for é, í etc

    Hi guys,
I've had this problem for a while now… Essentially, the issue lies in the alt-shortcuts for left and right where one is usualy able to 'word jump', and the creation of accented characters like é and í using the alt-e shortcut. All other alt functions appear to work fine for the moment. The alt-left/right shortcut still works when shift is held down, and highlights all the characters that have been passed over, as it should. The output for alt-e is completely blank, and the alt-left/right output is nothing, unless shift is also held.
I have a British English MacBook Air keyboard on Mountain Lion, and I have set it to that layout, and I regularly switch between this and greek for scientific formulæ. I've fiddled around with language and input settings trying to get it to work again to no avail, and there are no shortcuts programmed to that to my knowledge. I have checked on a guest account and it seems to be account specific. Ideally I'd like to keep this account without migrating everything over - does anyone have any ideas with regards to how to track down where the problem is?
Thanks in advance to any responses!

If only alt + e is not working, double check system preferences/speech to make sure it has not been set as a trigger for text to speech or speech recognition or whatever.

  • IPhoto 09 - iDVD 09: black Borders left/right AND top/bottom

Setup: Snow Leopard 10.6.3, iPhoto 09, iDVD 09, all patches applied.
Source Material: HiDef 3:2 pictures in iPhoto, arranged in a iPhoto slideshow.
Export: "publish to iDVD" in iPhoto - everything works fine.
Settings in iDVD: professional quality, Always scale slide to TV Safe area: DISABLED. aspect ratio: 16:9
Target: Full HD TV Screen 16:9
Result: the image quality is not great, but ok. But: there are huge black borders left/right (which is perfectly fine given the difference between 16:9 and 3:2) AND on the top and buttom of the TV - which is not acceptable by any means.
When I start the DVD on the Mac DVD-Player, there are no borders in windowed mode, but in full screen too.
It seems as iDVD 09 simply ignores the uncecked "scale..." preset box.
Can anyone confirm this, any suggestions? Setting up the slideshow in iDVD/iMovie itself is not an option here, hence my dad is still struggling to get things right in iPhoto

No, it's just in fill screen mode.
    Bengt Wärleby wrote:
This is not an iMovie or Apple problem but due to mixing 4x3 and 16x9 material
It's 2:3 Material (DSLR Pictures), so this won't help.
    Bengt Wärleby wrote:
You can try to make this the other way around. Start a WideScreen project and
now You will get the bordet around the 4x3 material instead.
Only solution is to crop or enlarg one of the material types to get it right.
As I stated before, there HAVE to be borders for the 2:3 Material on a 16:9 Screen (unless you do some heavy cropping). But I can see no reason why there should be borders on top/bottom of ANY material. As I see it, it's a problem related to a disfuncional "adjust for TV" setting, not the aspect ratio.
    Thanks anyway.
    Any other comments?

  • Display screen moves up/down & left/right

I am using a Cinema display on a G5 and when I move my mouse around the screen the screen shifts by several pixels to the left/right/top/or bottom depending on which way I am moving the mouse. It is as if the screen does not fit completely within the display. Right now my resolution is set to: 1680x1050.
Its a strange problem that is really more distracting than anything else. Any ideas regarding what I can do to fix this?

  • Ios7.0.2 iPad multigesture left right broken

Pre ios7.0.2, was able to use multigesture swipe from right of screen to display open windows. After downloading 7.0.2 left right multigesture doesn't work. To display open windows (and swipe upwards to close them), I have to press twice on big button on bottom of iPad. How can I get left/right multigesture to work on ios7.0.2?

Go to the Settings app. Select General and make sure the switch for Multitasking Gestures is turned on. It will show green. If that is already on, switch it to off, close the Setting app then go back in and turn it on again. If this doesn't correct your issue then
    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Magic Mouse left right swipe not working

I got the mouse with my computer about a month ago. And suddenly, the left/right swipe has stopped working. I've wiped down the top and changed the batteries. I restarted. It doesn't seem to be working.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how to fix it?

Take it back to Apple and get a new one, yours is still under warranty.

  • Left/right Keys appear to be stuck

    Here's the problem:
I'm not sure what exact keys are stuck, but it appears that my computer is receiving constant left/right input. It only appears in certain areas though. For instance, a Finder window will constantly shift left and right. This also occurs in the main iTunes window. Drop-down menus are unusable... as soon as I click on them, it immediately selects an option. But right now, as I type this, I can hit the left and right keys and it works just fine.
I've tried restarting, unplugging and plugging in my keyboard, as well as making sure my software is up to date.
    Thanks for reading this.

Welcome to Discussions - that sometimes happens to me as well, to fix it I right-click on purpose, and then select one of the choice, then the right-click goes away again. You can also re-start.
    Let me know what worked,
    Miriam
