Left shift minimises screen to top left, why?

When I press the left shift key (eg to capitalise), my screen minimises to the top left corner (shows desktop). I have to press Left shift again to get back. Only been an issue since Lion upgrade. any ideas how I can turn this off?

Pretty sure everything is as it should be. Using MBP built in keyboard...
Interestingly, a I type this.... the problem appears to have gone away!
I will get back if the problem comes back, close the query if i stays fixed....

How to have ICWeb Identification screen on top left show premise zip code

Previously in one of our training environments anytime a Business Partner and Premise were confirmed the top left hand screen in the ICWeb would show the BP first and last name as well as the premise and the premise zip code. In our production environment the top left hand screen shows everything except for the premise zip code.
Can somebody please explain how this field can pick up on the premise zip code whether it is done through SPRO or coding?

Hi David,
This is proper coding issue. As you want premise zip code to display in the contact information box. If I am not wrong. You can do it in Component CRMCMP_IC_FRAME. In the custom controller there is method SET_CALLER_DISPLAY_BPNAME where you need to get the premise zip code data and concatenate it to caller_display_name variable.

White blodge on new iphone 6 plus screen. Top left..

There are two small lighter White marks on my brand new iPhone 6 plus. un boxed today... Any ideas?

HT201412 settings are not working and only searching showing on top left

my iphone 4s not working,i can't make a call and when i pressed the setting icon it's all come up all white screen.on top left side says only 'searching'

OK everyone - I think I figured it out!
I had the same problems:
- 'Searching' in upper left
- Inability to make/receive calls
- Inability to access the internet
- Inability to access mail
- Setup menu comes up blank
- Cannot shut down/reboot by holding down top right button
Here's what to do:
- Hold down both the top right button and the lower middle button at the same time for a few seconds and you should see the white Apple logo appear on the screen.
- Let go of the buttons at this point and the phone will reboot
- When it comes back, everything should be OK
Only other thing I notoced is that I actually watched the battery drain fromm 80% to 10% when it came back online! Very strange!

TS1381 Apple keyboard weirdness...no capital 'E' via left Shift key...?

Suddenly, today, I cannot type a capital 'e' using the left SHIFT key. Using the left SHIFT key can create capitals of all other letters... and the right SHIFT key and CAPS LOCK keys can product capital 'e's with no problem... but the combination of the left SHIFT key and the 'e' does nothing... no lower case 'e'... nothing. Restart did nada. I'm running a USB Apple ketboard with number pad and OSX 10.7.5.
Any ideas?

Sadly this happens to me with the same key and like you the situation can be mitigated with the use of the caps lock too.

I would try going into your System Preferences and reset your keyboard settings to the default setting. It is possible that somehow your shift key got bound to something it shouldnt have been.

That's just the way it is in full screen mode. You need to come out of FS to see the dots again.

Why do new windows always open up pinned to the top left portion of my screen?

My mid-2010 27" iMac running Mavericks is fine in safe mode, but with normal boot up the screen goes haywire with some animation emanating from the apple menu area at top left of screen.

From what I'm reading in these forums, this is likely an issue due to some 3rd party software / kernal conflict. I am going to run a diagnostic and perhaps someone here can help me evaluate the results and determine what software must be removed.
It's hard to describe what I'm seeing on screen. I've never seen anything like it. I get a number of lines that begin at the top left of my screen, about at the apple icon, and they spread out in a triangular pattern from left to right, top to bottom across my screen, while the entire screen flickers uncontrollably. I realize that iMacs from this era have screen issues, but since I can boot fine in safe mode, this can't be a hardware issue.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.

☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

Wallstreet G3 top left quarter of my screen not working.

I have a PowerBook G3 (Wallstreet), and had OS 8.5 installed and running fine. I have recently upgraded to Tiger using Xpostfacto adn now have a problem with my display. If the screen resolution colour is set to Thousands I have different coloured lines appearing all over the screen and offset but following the cursor. When I change the colours to Millions the lines only occour in the top left quarter of the screen and still follow the cursor all over the screen. I have connected the PowerBook up to my TV using the S-video out and the problem persists on the TV too. I have tried resetting the PRAM and NVRAM but the problem still persists. I have even erased and re-installed OS 8.5, 9.1, 10.1 and 10.4 on seperate occcasions and the problem was happening on them all. Anyone know what else I could try to fault find?

The move to Tiger will not cause a hardware failure, but the definitive test for a logic board issue is the same problem occuring on an external monitor and also when booting to a CD.
However, give this a try and see what happens:
- If you still have 9.x installed, start up with shift key down (extensions off) and see if the problem persists.
- If no 9.x installed, boot to your 9.x CD with shift key down (make sure you see the 'extensions off' message) and test.
If the problem is gone, you can use the powerbook by disabling the ATI extensions in both 9.x and 10.x.

Bookmarks are shown permamently on the left of the screen.How do I get rid of them,so that the screen is not limited. I also do not have "print" oe "file"tabs at the top. I think it is all too complicated.

The Bookmarks are shown permamently down the left had side of the monitor acreen. I cannot find a way of removing them. I usually see the Bookmarks via the Firefox tab at the top left hand of the screen .
You information pages refer to tabs such as "file" ,"print", "view" etc on top , but I do not have these either.
I am afraid that I find this all too complicated

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).

Why is the top left corner wheel constantly spinning while in gmail? I am simply in my Mail app, not doing anything!

I misspoke, it actually happens in other spots, too. Here's an attempt at a screen shot. Notice how it's blank in a part.

Group Chat hidden window blocks mouse clicks in top-left corner of screen

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is the right place to report Group Chat bugs or not, but we're using Office Communicator Server 2007 R2 Group Chat, Version 3.5.6907.0.
The problem is that Group Chat places a hidden window in the top-left corner of the screen, and intermittently it blocks mouse mouse hovers and clicks. Many people in our office experience this, so it's not just myself. Closing Group Chat fixes
the problem, and when you click Exit on the Group Chat tray icon, you can actually see the "Logging out" window appear where the mouse clicks are being blocked.
Here's a pic showing where the transparent Group Chat box is lying over my Visual Studio app, so I'm unable to click File, Edit, View, or Git. I used UISpy to find and identify
the transparent window.

Another user with the exact issue as described above. After spending a lot of time troubleshooting the problem I have narrowed down the events that produces the 'hidden window'. If GroupChatConsole.exe is running and the user locks and then unlocks
their computer, this problem occurs. This would explain why closing and re-opening Group Chat appears to 'fix' the problem. If the computer is locked and unlocked again though (with Group Chat running), the problem returns. It doesn't matter if
the main Group Chat window is open or minimized to the task bar or notification area.
We have tried all the basic troubleshooting such as uninstall/reinstall, reboot, etc. We even imaged a brand new laptop and migrated the user to the newer model, but problem starting occurring again after a few days.
I love troubleshooting challenging problems, but this is something I have never encountered before... and after tirelessly searching the internet, doesn't seem like many others have, either. I hope someone else can provide some more insight or
clues to permanently fix this problem!

Slightly blackened area on top left of screen

On my iMac 21.5 (bought February 2010) I notice that on the top left part of the screen there are a few "slightly darkened areas." I don't remember these being there originally.
Are these backlight-going-dim areas? Have other people seen this sort of thing?
Is this sort of thing covered by my AppleCare?

And I'm sending it off again. The new screen has dead pixels in two places, and I can't stand dead pixels.
It is sooo tiring debating with Apple about dead pixels. I have this argument with them every year or so. I just don't want an iMac with dead pixels. It's too distracting.
They argue they have a defined limit as to how many dead pixels are allowed. And I argue I just don't want dead pixels and I don't recognize their definition of what's bad. And it goes on and on, and they call in a manager and then they finally agree to pick it up and change the screen again. They try to get me to agree to this being "one last screen change" even if there are bad pixels in the new one, I say I can't agree to that, they say we can't pick it up for repair then, I say that sounds like a threat and it goes on and one until they finally agree to exchange it.
I feel sorry for more timid customers who cave in right away.
This is why I am always hesitant before buying an Apple product. There are almost always problems and I almost always have send things back for repairs. Though this is the first time to have problems like this with an iMac. My problems have always been with notebook computers (100% of all notebook computers I have bought from Apple have needed repair multiple times, most from day one.)
Now my iPhone 4 is acting up too. The Home button sometimes acts like I double clicked it (opening the recent apps tray) when I really only single clicked it. It must be a contact gone faulty or something. It's hard to 100% reproduce but it happens dozens of times a day and drives me crazy. It's still under warranty, so I'll have to bring it by a SoftBank shop sometime soon.
I almost wish sometimes that instead of using a Mac I'd just use some cheap Windows 7 machine and then I just wouldn't care so much if something was wrong and I'd just replace the component.
