Left side of screen dim/slow response during standby

left side of screen gets dim during standby, slow to responde after awakened. anyone else experiencing this?
By the way, I've had the screen replaced and the monitor (cable?) replaced as well. I tried to get a new machine but they said that I had to have THREE major problems before they would replace the entire machine. BS

Mine has this, too, with an area about 2/5 of the way over that is dim after being off for a time. I've found that running the brightness up and down a few times tends to speed up the time it takes for it to adjust to a more averaged brightness. It is a bit strange that it takes so long for only a portion of the screen to warm up, and even then there's always a slight hint at anything lower than max that it isn't quite even (though it is less noticeable if you happen to be just left of center, as is my case.)

Went to type in a message in email and realized I couldn't type in the number "1" or any characters on the left side of the screen. I then went back out to the main home page/icon pages and nothing on the left side of my screen responds.
I purchased the phone through AT&T... can I assume I can walk into an Apple store and get it immediately replaced or is this wishful thinking. Will Apple say, "hey, we didn't sell it to you, ..."
If not, I'm hoping this voids my AT&T contract. They didn't live up to their end by supplying me with functional equipment, why should I live up to my end of the contract?

Well, AT&T does not handle the warranty work of the iPhone, Apple does, so if it needs to be replaced, Apple would be the one to do it. However, they are going to ask if you did the troubleshooting steps and will probably repeat them before they think about replacing your phone. If it is non-functional, they will decide on the replacement.
This would not void your AT&T contract because you can get the phone replaced under warranty.
If after you try the troubleshooting steps in the manual and the phone does not work, then call Apple Care, or if you have a local Apple Store, make an appointment at the Genius Bar and they will check out the phone. Troubleshooting is power off/on the phone, reset by holding down power off/on button and home button together until you see the Apple Logo, then release, ignore the red slider. The last step would be restore, either from a backup or as a new phone. Good luck.

White line on left side of screen of my iphone 4?

What causes a white line on left side of screen of my iphone 4? It runs from the top to the bottom and is about 1/32" wide.
Just showed up yesterday. It's like the entire screen image is shifted to the right. Is this a sign of a major problem coming?

I bought this mac through ebay some time ago now. After a few months of use, i noticed the left side of the screen flickering/twitching. It gradually got worse till the majority the left side of the screen was completely distorted. Now, there's a dead space there, and when i take a print screen, the image comes out fine.

Sorry for late response, I'm not sure if you have resolve the issue by now. From what you are describing there can be only 2 things wrong : 1 - video card or 2 - the logic board now if you are in my area (orange county, CA)I could help you do the hardware repair so you save some money, otherwise Apple will charge you almost as much as getting another one, for fixing issue like this...
Or if you are handy with hardware repairs try to get another part and swap it your self.

Pink line down left side of screen?

I recently popped an Arch CD into my newly (sort of) built computer and the install went great. I rebooted, and I was presented with a thin pink line down the left side of my screen. What is this thing (sorry for bad quality pictures. I used a phone camera)?

A few months back, I installed Arch on the same machine with no issues. I also installed Gentoo earlier today and configured X on this PC, and there was no pink line. NOTE: This also appears when I boot the latest live cd.
Kernel: 2.6.33-ARCH
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon X1200 onboard
Monitor connection: HDMI

I have something similar here on my AppleTV, the whole screen will go pink and then be reset to black during the boot sequence, pretty bizarre, happens with all nVidia GPU drivers (nv, nvidia, nouveau). Not entirely the same thing, but it's pink too...
Yeah what I probably will do is downgrade the kernel to an earlier version, most likely 2.6.32, because that has been known to work for me

Left side of display dim

I have had an intermittent problem with the left side of the display going dim. The first time, a couple of years ago, Apple fixed it. The next time the people at the store couldn't see the problem (it does appear to be intermittent -- it was okay for a while, but dimmed again a week or so ago). Their solution is to crank it up to the max brightness. This is not a solution, as it's markedly dimmer at 6 notches than it used to be, so something is wrong. The warranty is about to run out, so I have to call Apple Care tonight or tomorrow to see what they say. (The store claimed they put a note on my file just in case it happened again post-warranty, but I am not trusting to that since it took two hours to find a record of the first repair.) Any suggestions as to what the problem might be so I can sound intelligent and not like the nutcase they seem to think I am for "imagining" a dimmed display? (The last time, I almost cried because it was so frustrating!)

There -probably- is some controller board or other component failure
occurring in the computer; so AppleCare should be able to find a
cause behind the dimming of the display, in such a fashion; if a
tech gets some time with the actual machine to test it properly.
You may wish to make a backup of your stuff just in case the
system or something else changes while your computer is away.
If you have and use an externally enclosed hard disk drive and
make a backup (boot-tested) clone, you'd have all bases covered.
And if not, maybe save your stuff to some off-computer media.

I want to constantly display my bookmarks in V6.0.2 on left side of screen

I just upgraded to FF v6.0.2 and love the new look, however I would like to display my bookmarks on the left side of the screen such as I was able to do in 3.6. I know how to display them by clicking on the button top right. Using Win 7 64 bit on Asus laptop

How do I get bookmarks to display on left side of screen

I would like to get the bookmark section back on the left side of the screen which is a much more convenient spot for my application. It appears mozilla has discontinued this, why? The bookmark saving is cumbersome at best. It makes no sense to remove things that work for something that is not necessarily better.

How do I delete gray sidebar on left side of screen?With

WIth a recent update in Safari on my ipad, there is a wide gray sidebar on the left side of the screen. It displays bookmarks, the reading list and something else. This sidebar takes up a third of my iPad screen. I do not want it. How can I delete the entire sidebar so my safari screen goes back to full size?

Actually, I think that it should probably disappear on its own after you select the bookmark, but I don't think that it is working properly and it must be a bug. From time to time, it does disappear on its own after I make my selection. When I use the iPad in portrait mode (almost never) it disappears on its own every time after I make the selection.

When clicking the itunes icon on my left side of screen a window pops up and says i need to disable the compatability, I tried to do this from what it prompted me to do, but it still say problem unresolved

I have not been able to access the itunes store for the past month, it has been a long time since I have downloaded/purchased anything, probably around christmas time, but the problem is I click on the itunes store and the grey zebra striped bar just keeps running accross the top indefinitely, one other thing is that when I click on my itunes icon on the left side of my screen a window pops up and tells me to turn off compatibility, so I tried to follow the prompts through the properties from right clicking the itunes icon but after the thing runs its check and i click on make suggested changes, it still says incompatible. I have no idea what to do and this is extremely frustrating, please help!!

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...
