Left side of touch screen unresponsive...

I bought the 16 GB iPhone 3GS on release day (June 19). It's worked just fine until about an hour ago. All of a sudden the very left side of the screen is unresponsive (that is, 'q' won't work, the '-' symbol or '[' symbol won't work, etc). If I flip the phone on its left side and try to use Safari, the back button, bookmarks button, etc won't work.
I haven't dropped the phone. It's been in a gel case since jump street. I've taken perfect care of the thing. What gives?
I tried resetting it, restoring it, and nothing worked. Is it time to call customer service?

Still having this problem. My Genius Bar appt is set for tomorrow, but for now the left side of the screen is working normally. Do I need to wait for it to crap out on me again (as it has at least 3 times for weeks now) to take it back or will the Apple folks at the store take me at my word that it dies for several weeks and then randomly works properly for maybe a day or two?

Left side of my screen touch isn't working !

The left side of my screen isn't responding to text. Letters like a, w are impossible to type and cannot access any of the icons on the left side of the screen. I went to apple and they said its an hardware issue and I'd have to pay $200 to replace my screen. But then I was reading through some of the discussions and people said how they had a loose cable issue and they fixed it. I'm out of warranty too so if I did have a loose cable connection would it be free of charge ? Because I'm considering going back to the apple store to have a chat with them again.

Apple does not repair phones, they exchange them. As yours is out of warranty, you can get an out of warranty exchange for $200, which is what you were offered the first time around "to repair your screen".

The left side of my screen keeps freezing

Recently the left side of my screen has been freezing. How can I fix it?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- A reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you stil lhave the problem then it is likely a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

HP 8620 Touch Screen Unresponsive - Firmware Software Bug?

Hello, I have the latest "firmware update" on the HP 8620. Can someone please confirm this bug? I don't know if it is just for the HP 8620 or if it applies to all HP touchscreens. Basically if you go into any setting option, then hit the "home" icon and right after you swipe either left or right, it ends up rendering your touch screen unresponsive to swiping left or right. Is this bug already a known issue? The only way to correct the touchscreen so it is responsive again is hit the question mark, or an icon on the bottom and hit the home button (without swiping left/right right after the home button).

My vertical column of bookmarks down the left side of my screen has disappeared and I need to find a way to get it back in the same place.

This is purely a lay-out issue. We used to be able to choose to permanently display our bookmarks vertically down the left side of the screen, and I want to continue to be able to do so. My bookmarks are not lost; I know they are in my library. But the system doesn't seems to allow me to leave them on permanently down the left side. Please help. I have Windows 7 64-bit and the latest version ofFirefox.

Do you mean that the bookmarks sidebar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks) gets disabled?

How to I make pop up windows go back to the left side of the screen when they are moving to the right?

Whenever I click on a link, a new window pops up. That's good, that's what I wanted. They've always opened on the left side of the screen. However, they are now opening in the middle of the screen. This has happened before and the screen eventually opened completely on the right. Last time this happened, I ended up having to delete something. I don't remember what, but it solved the issue. How do I get Firefox to show bookmarks in a permanent, vertical column on left side of the screen?

When I render my video I get a black bar on the left side of the screen

I just upgraded to FCS 2 and so far it's been a complete waste of money. I'm having nothing but problems with FCP, Compressor, and QMaster. I will just post my FCP problem here.
I've edited a weekly video podcast and everything looks great, until I render it and export it. When I render it, I get a constant, solid black bar on the far left of the video that takes up about 5% of the screen. My layers are definitely sized correctly to fill up the entire canvas, and they are all centered. I cannot figure out why I am getting this black bar or how to get rid of it without ditching the upgrade and going back to FCP5.1.
I have already tried completely uninstalling the FCS suite and reinstalling. No luck. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

My original source material is in Apple Intermediate Codec, with 32-bit float audio and a variable frame rate. This has not been friendly to FCP, so I use Quicktime to convert it to Apple ProRes with 24-bit audio and 29.97 frame rate. This is what I import into FCP.
My sequence settings are set to the same specs as my source material. 854x480, square pixels, no field dominance, Apple ProRes compression.
The black bar on the left side of the screen shows up before I even export. It shows up when I render everything.
I am exporting with Quicktime Conversion to:
MP4
h.264 codec
720x405
1000 video bit rate
Main Profile
No cropping/filters or anything.
The ONLY thing I did different before upgrading to FCP6 was that I used Apple Intermediate Codec all the way through. I was told by an FCP instructor that writes and publishes all kinds of FCP training material that I should upgrade to FCP6 and use the Apple ProRes422 Codec instead, so that's what I'm trying to do.
I am going back to restart my project using Apple Intermediate Codec all the way through like I used to, but it will be awhile before I can tell if that solved the problem. Either way, I would like to be using the ProRes codec....

How do I pin the bookmark sidebar to the left side of my screen? My bookmark sidebar (vertical on the left side of the screen) is gone. When this would happen in the past I wold F10 and then select to view (or pin...can't remember the wording of the command) the sidebar. It was always visible with my bookmarks sorted. Now that sidebar is gone and I can't figure out how to add it back. HELP!

My macbook keeps freezing with the left side of the screen on the right and the right side of the screen on the left. Help

My 17-inch early 2011 macbook pro keeps freezing on me. The freeze usually occurs when I'm importing or exporting pictures, when I stream anything, or If I am watching a dvd. The left side of the screen shifts to the right and the right side of the screen shifts to the left. lines also appear on my screen and I can not force quit any open application. I have not dropped my laptop at all.
Mac OSX Lion version 10.7.5
2.2 Ghz Intel Core i7
I would like to avoid going to the an apple store to fix this problem if possible. The closest one to me is 40 miles away.

If you don't have the Applecare extended warranty then you will need to pay for the fix. The fix is a New Logic Board. It seems as your Graphics card is failing in some way. No there is no software fix for this.
The Graphic chip is soldered to the logic board and the only way to change/fix it is to replace the complete logic board.
