Left speaker no sound, no wi-fi, hang up after first or second booting then blue screen appears

hi there! my laptop always hangs up everytime I open it. Sometimes it open up after minutes of waiting then gradually hangs up before blue screen appears. I had to long press the start button again and again before I could use it.
By the way, there are times I had to switch into safe mode and found out that the audio is not working anymore. During normal mode, only the left speaker is operational. Lastly, wi-fi signal will constantly disappear after rebooting.
please help
robert

Hi,
Have not seen any reports of negative experiences (unlike recent Microsoft updates) from the last batch of Windows Updates.
I would guess you have a coincidental hardware problem.
A failed HDD would yield an error at boot. You would still be able to boot to the BIOS if you desired.
Normally failed devices (memory, GPU, CPU) will give audible and visual error codes. Exceptions will always happen.
Could be the battery, power supply, or maybe the motherboard has bit the dust. You will probably receive no visual or audible error messages when the motherboard fails.
Try booting with one monitor.

  • [SOLVED] Hangs for aged at fsck at boot then black screen on startx

    Hi fellow Archers,
I'm really stumped here. I resized my arch partition to install another distro alongside. After, arch hung for 5-10min at the fsck screen and once it gets past this startx fails with a black screen. I've tried a few things and at one point it booted up fine (no hang at fsck) and I was able to start x, which makes me think the issues are related, I'm unsure what changed and cannot reproduce. My UUIDs in grub.cfg and fstab look fine to me (if this is relevant). I'll post any files/logs on request as I'm on a phone just now.
EDIT: The UUID for my swap partition in fstab was incorrect. Alls well after correcting it. Anyone know why this would cause x to give a black screen?

When you resized the partition, it caused the UUID of the partition to change. The drive couldn't be mounted, and this caused the hang in startx.

  • Dv6 top left speaker lower sound issue

I purchased a HP dv6-6005et laptop 6 days ago which is running w7 x64 home premium. 3 days later, i noticed my top left speaker's sound lower than top right's about 20 percent. I formatted and installed w7 x64 pro.
I thought this might be a driver issue. I updated the driver. Nothing's changed. Uninstalled driver. I noticed without IDT Audio driver top speakers are ok. Balances are ok but bottom speakers not working and sound is not good enough.
I went to place where i purchased my laptop. I used public demo laptop. That laptop has that issue too.
I tried all drivers on the internet. Nothing's changed but now i know this is a driver issue. I couldn't find any solution. Please help me.
    Thanks a lot.

Seems like your settings are a bit skewed.
    Click on Start
Type in "IDT Audio Control Panel"
On the Far Left locate Setup
    Click on it.
Move move the circle to the left or right as needed.

  • IMac G5 running OS 10.4.11. Started playing with a bluetooth speaker (may or may not be related). Now I cannot get past the blue screen on startup. I can get into safe mode. Tried install disc for disc utility and reloaded OS. Still get blue screen.

I have an older iMac G5 running OS 10.4.11. The other day I started playing with a bluetooth speaker (may or may not be related). Now I cannot get past the blue screen on startup.
I can get into safe mode. But no regular startup.
I tried disabling bluetooth, thinking that might be related. It didn't help.
I even tried using the install disc to run disc utility. That didn't work so I reloaded the OS.
But I still get hung on the blue screen when trying a normal startup.
    All help would be appreciated.

Try resetting the PMU/SMU and PRAM/NVRAM. You'd need to identify the mode of resetting depending on the model of your G5 iMac. The Apple support sites that would help you for this are –

  • Boot up blue screen hang/cycle (dark/bright)

    Hi all
    i have the above problem,
i did clean reformat (full re partition) ... it works on start up ... but after 1 reboot ... it will hang at blue screen forever with the blue cycling from darker to brighter ... the apple rep say it my 3rd party HDD ... but the hardware internal self check is passed ...
the local apple support Eserv in singapore is very unhelpful ... i cant solve the problem. the rep says at first it is my OS that konks up (hello it is apple OS)... then when i insist to check it then they accept my MBP for servicing. after it goes in, i suspect that it wasnt checked properly because they called me up very quickly to ask me to get it back. to solve the apple software problem they ask me to pay them $150 just to load the OS and check it, WTH is wrong with them? are they not the authorized apple agent? if the HDD is really at fault why did the verify option green light all my partition checks? if the HDD is faulty why did all my past 12 OS clean re-installs are done without a hitch but only hangs after a reboot?
    i am very frustrated
does anyone have a similar case problem and confirm that it is a logic board change? because my friends did had 1 done

First thing I'd recommend checking is to see if your internal HD is selected as the startup volume. System Preferences - Startup Disk - ensure internal HD is highlighted. If it is not highlight it then click restart.
If it was highlighted then do a SMC reset:
    _SMC RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    • Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    • Release the power button.
    • Attach the computers power cable.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    _PRAM RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
Finally if you are turning off your computer when you're done with it daily please read your owners manual where it says:
    _Putting Your iMac to Sleep_
*If you‘ll be away from your iMac for less than a few days, put it to sleep. When your iMac is in sleep, its screen is dark. You can quickly wake your iMac and bypass the startup process.*

  • Sound on slides does not play after first slide.

I created a presentation with 5 slides.  I put the same sound file on each of the 5 slides.  The slides are setup to play automatically.
If I play the presentation in Keynote, it works perfectly.
I exported to html and put on my web site.  If I view the presentation in Safari the slides load one after the other correctly, but the sound only works on the 1st slide.  On slides 2 thru 5, the sound only plays for about 1 second and then quits.
If I view the presentation using Firefox, nothing works, slides do do load correctly, and no sound at all.
I exported to Quicktime and played it, and the quality is so bad I can barely see what is going on.
I installed a new Keynote app from app store, and same problems.
    Any ideas?

  • Facetime hangs up after a few seconds

Hello, the issue is that FaceTime on my Macbook Pro connects to whoever I'm calling just fine, I see then for 2-3 seconds and then it hangs up automatically saying the call failed. My connection is speedy if anything so I don't think it's that and it always works off my phone. It's been doing this for a few months now and it's really getting my goat. Currently running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. Since getting Yosemite all sorts of crazy business has been going on, maybe it's just one of those things...

  • With 5th gen nano, how to display album artwork during playback at all times, it stays on for a few seconds and then the screen goes black? Is there a way to play and see artwork, at all times (using with a aux. speaker)

I have a 5th gen nano, and I play it often on a aux. speaker. I would like the album artwork to display at all times while playing it here. Right now it plays for a few seconds on each song, and then goes blank. Can this be changed?

The artwork turns black or the screen's backlight turns off?  If the backlight turns off, simply disable the backlight timer, but keep in mind this will significantly reduce your iPod's playback time and battery life.

  • Adobe reader 9.2 hangs up after first use on web

I downloaded 9.2 and when I use it in firefox I get one use after I accept the agreement  then it freezes. So I have to uninstall and reinstall click agree and then I get one use and have to do the hole thing over again. Someone suggested to go into tools in firefox and options go to Adobe Acrobat reader and select use adobe reader 9.2 from the drop down list. I did this and it works however, the download box also comes up every time when I do it this way. Is there a way I can fix this without getting the download box all the time?

    I'm having the same issue.
I installed 9.2 because I wanted to be able to fill in a pdf form to print. Once I installed 9.2 I had the same problem as above and also I cannot even open a pdf from a web site.
    Any ideas?

  • I have an ibook g4 that boots to blue screen and hangs. Safe mode will boot but hangs after log in. I have reset PRAM, NVRAM, and the PMU. Booted from Diskwarrior and rebuilt and tested the HD, working properly.  Boot from Tiger dvd shows images? no text

The tiger install dvd boots only to show an image of what looks to be two steps, not sure what its showing me.. possibly inserting RAM?  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

Could you get a picture of the screen, load that into your working computer,
and post it into a reply here? There are a few kinds of situations where a
similiar display of that sort may appear.
Given the G4 iBook PPC (which model) is a bit dated now, one has to
assume you have the original 'install-restore' DVD it came with, new.
What was or wasn't it doing, before you chose to try to boot Tiger DVD?
Do you have a second Mac, one w/ FireWire ports; maybe Thunderbolt?
It may be possible to further look into the ailing iBook G4 via FireWire
from a second Mac, and attempt to investigate, or save old data to some
external drive, USB Flash; in case you need to totally wipe the HDD.
An image of the iBook screen may be helpful. Someone else with recent
troubleshooting or extensive use of iBook portables (or other OS X issue)
that presents such a screen instead of a normal progress screen, may
have an immediate idea. Without an image, I am not venturing a guess.
What key did you hold down while trying to boot the computer from DVD?
One set of keys can get you a Startup Manager. Among other options.

  • MacBook Pro hanging with blue screen and spinner after installing Software Update

Hi I was wondering if someone could help me with this current issue. Just a few hours ago I finished reinstalling Mac OS X Snow Leopard in my MacBook Pro. I performed a clean installation as part of a yearly spring cleaning that I do on all my systems to keep them optimized. So there was I downloading some software updates which included the combo update of OSX 10.6.8 and others. The updates finished downloading and the system logged out to install the updates, when the updates finished installing my MacBook proceeded by logging out into a blue screen and show a gray spinner similar to the one seen when you start your Mac. Here's the problem after 2 hours the system is showing the spinner and the blue screen, I think that my computer has just hanged in the reboot process.
I was wondering what should I do? Do a force restart? Or leave it overnight?
Also, where can I find any information on what error is causing this issue?
I appreciate your responses and help.
By the way, I installed Mac OS X from a USB stick that has the original image of the disk installer that came bundled with my computer.

    Kappy wrote:
Force a shutdown. Do not restart yet, but first do the following:
    Repair the Hard Drive
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Next, boot into Safe Mode then restart normally.
    Hi Kappy,
Checked the hard drive after forcing a shutdown and booting from my Snow Leopard Installer USB Key and the status of the HDD says "Verified". I ran the repair and the volume was repaired successfully. Clicked on "Verify Disk" and it says "Macintosh HD appears to be OK". So I ran a second repair and again no errors were reported.
As suggested I booted back again in Safe Mode and restarted normally. All software appears to have been installed successfully. But I don't understand why my computer hanged and showed the spinner after installing the updates in the blue screen that appears just before rebooting. I am aware that the system shows that spinner after a OS update but the longest it lasts is 30 seconds at the most in my previous cases.

  • T410 random beep sound( from machine for less than 5 mins) + screen freeze + Blue Screen (some time)

I have new purchased T410 during christmas time.
here is my machine spec(everything from Levono, did not upgrade any parts):
    T410, model 2516CTO
    8 GB RAM
    i7 CPU
    500GB HDD
    Integried graphic card
Windows 7 professional (applied all latest updates)
Problem random happen, for about 8 times,
    System works regularly
and all of sudden machine make continousely "beep" sound(from machine, not speaker),
    after that screen freeze,
and then sometime system go back to normal, sometime crash completely to blue screen(most time).
The whole problem takes about 3-5 mins.
1 time it even happen in safe mode (after log in, desktop freezed immediately, then blue screen).
I chkdsk the whole disk found no problem.
I call Lenovo tech support, he ask me restore the original OS(Windows 7 home prim), then he can help me.
I refused because that's mean i have to destroy all the work I done (spend almost a week to install development tools and software) .
Since the problem is random anyway, I just reboot and bakeup more offen. :-(
I used Thinkpad since IBM time, never have problem with previous 2 T Series machines, but this one, not happy.

  • Sound Blaster Zx driver install causes IO blue screen

    So things went like this:
I received my Sound Blaster Zx today. Opened it up, found that it contained some very handy instructions, so I followed those to the letter.
During the installation of the drivers, after I was prompted to choose whether or not to install the drivers by my Windows 7 64 bit (which obviously I chose to install), it blue screened with an IO error.
Then, presumably because the drivers didn't install correctly, it blue screened due to cthdb.sys every time I booted up.
I had to boot in safe mode and remove the drivers.
Then, I started up normally again. Windows automatically installed the drivers, even though it is said to do NOTHING when it detects a new device - no updates, no driver installation, no nothing. It installed the SAME drivers and so I had the IO blue screen again, and then blue screened due to cthdb.sys every time I booted.
Again I had to remove the drivers using safe mode.
No drivers will install without the card being installed, and if the card installed then the dodgy, BSOD causing drivers get installed automatically.
    What do I do?

Uninstall the sound driver via Device Manager and remove when asked all the drivers related so it doesnt reinstall them at every reboot.
Swap the card around until you find a good slot and uninstall drivers and disable in BIOS afterwards the onboard prior testing another driver.
Is the cards properly seated in the slot ?!
Ignore the metal stuff look at the slot.
