Legacy Exchange auto-complete issue

Hi,
We are a hosting exchange provider company. We recently migrated a company from rackspace to our hosted Exchange. All users are successfully migrated and are sending and receiving emails.
The issue is that external users have autocomplete email addresses of rackspace's users in their outlook. Now that users are migrated to our exchanage, if someone tries to send an email using autocomplete address from outlook then email
bounced back.
I also tried to send an email using autocomplete and email bounced. Bounced email shows rackspace's server name in the rejection message.
Is there any permanent solution to this issue? I have read about X500, but we migrated 5000 users. How can we create x500 for 5000 users?
 Any help will be highly appreciated.
Regards,
Anees

hi anees... there are two ways i handle this problem when i move users from one exchange to another and i face this autocomplete bounce back issue. as this is the issue on outlook and not exchange so there is nothing much we can do on exchange
1. we ask users to type the user address manually, to/CC/BCC of mail. and not take from autocomplete. or second is to remove the the autocomplete DB from outlook,
Please see below link
http://www.msoutlook.info/question/24
http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-the-Outlook-Autocomplete-Cache
both link below shows the method to delete these entries permanently. check that option. Let me know if this helps.
MARK AS USEFUL/ANSWER IF IT DID

  • Acrobat X Pro Auto Complete Issues

    Does anyone else find this feature unusable? Every time I try to type something new in a field on a fillable pdf form the auto-complete makes its suggestion and I can't override it. In 8 Pro you could just keep typing and the auto-complete would recognize the new value and allow you to complete the field yourself. I have tried both the basic and advanced auto-complete with the same results. I have also found that it you clear the edit entry list that it is only for that individual pdf. How can you delete the edit entry list throughout the whole program at once? Any help or comment would be apprieciated

    Hi there,
    Could you provide some more detail about your file(s)?  Are there any common elements between the files you've been converting to PDF via the PDFMaker Ribbon or the Adobe PDF printer that are disappearing?  Is the text that's disappearing all of a certain font?
    I'd like to try to help if you could upload a sample file or provide some additional detail!
    Thanks,

  • Exchange Server 2013 / Outlook 2010 Auto-Complete address problems

    Hi
    We run an Exchange 2013 environment where end users use Outlook 2010.
    For some reason several users (at least 5 so far, maybe more that haven't noticed yet) are complaining that they are now unable to add any additional address to the Auto-Complete cache.  This can be resolved manually by emptying the cache from within
    Outlook then disabling and re-enabling auto-complete but obviously they then have a blank slate.
    My question is - is there anything that can cause this type of problem collectively?  I have seen it previously, but occurrences have always been isolated to an individual user.
    Thanks in advance
    M

    Hello,
    You can try use NK2View tool to modify your Outlook Auto Complete Addresses.
    With NK2View you can delete unwanted email addresses from your autocomplete file and add new addresses from your address book as well as edit current email address entries. And NK2View is a free download from NirSoft and you can get the software by going
    to their website.
    Besides, the auto-complete cache is a outlook feature, I recommend you post your issue to outlook forum.

  • FYI: Confirmed flaw with Outlook Auto-Complete lists w/Exchange Online

    Ever since our organization migrated to Exchange Online we noticed a flaw with how Outlook's Auto Complete list (nickname cache) operates.  We've finally gotten a confirmation from Microsoft that the following is indeed a problem:
    Each entry in a user's local Outlook auto-complete cache is represented by an LDAP distinguished name.
    When Exchange is hosted on-premises these entries pretty much never change.
    When your organization is hosted on Exchange Online, the distinguished names for your mailboxes can change without notice due to maintenance processes (Microsoft's engineers have confirmed this to be true).
    There are other ways that a mailbox's distinguished name can change (re-creating a mailbox, etc.)
    Outlook's local auto-complete cache has no way (currently) to reconcile changes should any of its entries' distinguished names change in the cloud.
    When the entries in the local auto-complete cache become "stale" the following may happen:
    Emails to affected recipients can bounce back.
    Emails to distribution groups containing members which have stale auto-complete entries can bounce back.
    On occasion no NDR is even generated (BIG PROBLEM).
    As noted above, we've gotten Microsoft to admit that this is indeed a problem with Outlook when combined with Exchange Online. I was told that the Outlook product team has been notified of this problem.  However, in order to escalate this issue I was
    asked to spread the word to other customers so they can also chime in if they've been affected.
    Please supply your feedback to Microsoft and ask that Outlook be enhanced to either reconcile the local auto-complete list with the online GAL, or provide some sort of notification to the user that an auto-complete entry has become "stale" or invalid.
    Thanks for everyone's time!

    Hi,
    There is nothing called as Outlook's local nick-name cache. This resides on the mailbox and not outlook and supports only 1000 entries only. If the entries exceeds 1000 it will not function correctly.
    After the .nk2 file has been imported into your mailbox, Outlook writes a value into a hidden message in your mailbox.
    To locate this property in MFCMAPI, open the
    Associated Contents table of the Contacts folder. Then, select the message with
    Subject = IPM.Configuration.ContactPrefs.
    Then, double-click the PR_ROAMING_DICTIONARY property to see the configuration setting nickname cache import. The value to examine is
    pImportedContactNickNames (True = the import has already occurred).
    Since you are facing issues at this point of time, it needs to be corrected. I would appreciate if you can open phone support case with O 365 team and ask them to escalate to Exchange Level , we should be able to work with
    you and correct the issue
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Delete only 1 Auto-Complete email address for everyone's email accounts - perhaps via Exchange 2010 or Group Policy?

    Hello
    I have an exchange 2010 server and clients use outlook 2007 or 2010 for emails.
    I recently deleted an account with the Exchange 2010 server and created another with the same name but a different address.
    Now people can't send mail to this new email address because it's cached on their outlook profiles... but it does work after they cleared the cache and send their requests then.
    Is there a way that I can clear this one email address from everyone's cached auto-complete list on exhcange or via Group Policy so that it works for all of them? I don't want to clear all of their auto-complete lists.
    Thanks,

    As far as I know, there isn't any way to clear only one auto-complete cache from Exchange side or Group policy.
    Thanks,
    Evan

    Hello. I recently updated numbers on my macbook pro. I like the auto completion feature (proposing te word as I type). With this new update, I cannot see this feature and it doesn't work automatically. Can I have any help on this issue ?

    This is really unfortunate. I'm sorry that nothing works. I was going to mention holding down the power button and doing a force shutdown but you already did that. You might need to take it into the Apple store. I don't know if booting into safe mode would help. You would have to turn off the machine again, hit the start button and hold down the shift key after you hear the tone, but normally you would let go of the shift key when you see the apple logo and spining wheel. Maybe by holding down the shift key after you here the tone will cause the screen to come back on? The other option is to start up from the 'install disk' if your machine came with one. You would insert the disk, then shut down the computer, and hold down the C key right after hitting the start button.
    Here's the link for the safeboot

  • Mail won't auto complete Exchange email addresses after Lion

    Hi there. I tried to lookup a solution for this problem on the support communities but wasn't able to. Since upgrading to Lion, the auto complete feature for email addresses in my University Exchange server won't work. Mail only completes addressees contained locally in my Mac. The feature worked fine with Snow Leopard and continues to work on both my iPhone and iPad. It's worth noting that setting up the exchange server itself wasn't a straight forward task either as the auto setup didn't work and I had to enter the exchange server address manually in Mail. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

    The screenshot below is from SL, not Lion, but see if you can find something similar to this.
    In Mail prefs, click on 'Composing', and look for the 'Configure LDAP' button. Click on that and add your server with the little '+' button.

  • Exchange NDR X500 Issue

    Background: I have a customer which we migrated to Exchange 2013 SP1 from Exchange 2007 a while ago. The migration was done in a PST transfer manner with the import/export-pst cmdlets. The Exchange is running on a Win Server 2012 R2 VM
    on VMware ESX 5.5. Users use Outlook 2007 internally, as well as OWA and ActiveSync mobile externally. Let's call the domain contoso.com for security purposes.
    Issue: Joe Doe is intermittently receiving NDR messages when sending/replying to internal emails to Maria Smith. Please note that Maria Smith was originally Maria White. The surname change happened BEFORE the migration, but this
    issue began AFTER the migration. The NDR is the following:
    Diagnostic information for administrators:
    Generating server: EX.contoso.local
    IMCEAEX-_O=CONTOSO_OU=First+20administrative+20group_cn=Recipients_cn=maria+2Ewhite@contoso.com
    Remote Server returned '550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found'
    Original message headers:
    Received: from EX.contoso.local (192.168.0.150) by EX.contoso.local
    (192.168.0.150) with Microsoft SMTP Server (TLS) id 15.0.847.32; Wed, 10 Dec
    2014 16:33:14 +0100
    Received: from EX.contoso.local ([::1]) by EX.contoso.local ([::1]) with
    mapi id 15.00.0847.030; Wed, 10 Dec 2014 16:33:14 +0100
    Content-Type: application/ms-tnef; name="winmail.dat"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary
    What we did so far:
    Cleared auto-complete cache in Outlook
    Added the IMCEAEX address shown in the NDR as an X500 address alias in Maria Smith's mailbox. The resultant X500 address we used is:
    /O=CONTOSO/OU=First administrative group/cn=Recipients/cn=maria.white
    Removed the .NK2 cache file from the Outlook profile
    Confirmed that Joe Doe's Outlook address book is updating properly...it is correct, I checked personally from his Outlook
    Checked Maria's LegacyExchangeDN attribute in the current AD object...its a jumble of numbers and characters...but I found some people online which said that I can ignore this.
    NB. I tried sending an email directly to that X500 address internally from Outlook to test, but it sees it as an invalid address...not sure if its normal behavior or because the structure of the address is wrong...
    I've read countless blogs and posts of people with exactly the same issue...and they solve it immediately with the X500 alias method...it isn't working for me and it's driving me nuts. Any ideas?

    UPDATE (for any others who may be having the same issue):
    So I may have found the solution...
    I recreated the problem in my Exchange test lab. What solved it was the proxyAddresses method (the same one I tried i.e. adding the X500 address to the user object/mailbox). In order to avoid confusion with the format, what I did was instead of adding email
    address aliases in the mailbox, I directly inputted the X500 address in the user's AD attribute. This is a summary of the steps I took:
    Go to Active Directory Users and Computers > View > Advanced Features. Now find the user from AD and right-click > attribute editor. Find the attribute "proxyaddresses". Click Edit... . Add the X500 address there directly in the format
    X500:/o... so I added X500:/O=CONTOSO/OU=First administrative group/cn=Recipients/cn=maria.white
    After updating the GAL and OAB manually, and clearing the auto-complete, NK2 and OAB caches from Outlook and VOILA! I could resolve the X500 address with Check Names! Also the emails went through successfully. (This is on my test lab).
    So on the production system I simply removed all the X500 proxyaddresses from Attribute Editor in AD, and added the X500 address again from scratch. I added two:
    X500:/O=CONTOSO/OU=First administrative group/cn=Recipients/cn=maria.white
    X500:/O=CONTOSO/OU=First administrative group/cn=Recipients/cn=[email protected]
    I'm not entirely sure which is actually needed but at this point the issue has been dragged on for far too long and I just need to solve it ASAP.
    After adding those X500 entries in proxyAddresses in AD, updating GAL and OAB, removing all caches from Outlook and downloading the OAB again, I could FINALLY resolve the X500 alias and send an email successfully. This is an intermittent issue so I'll give
    it a week or so to see if the issue resurfaces.

  • Passport does not auto complete email addresses

    when typing email address, the old BB used to suggest and auto complete email addresses.  Now when i start typing an email address it shows a button "LOOK UP ..." then it shows the list of possible matches once i press the button.  what do i need to change to make it do matches automatically without the need for the button push.
    I have seen alot of people complain about this but no solution.

    Auto complete and the suggestion are two separte functions.
    With the contacts in my contacts app there is no issue with me doing either.
    Possible you have the email address in a different contact field?

  • Auto-Complete bugs in Adobe Reader X / Acrobat X

    When I open a PDF that has fillable forms, and auto-complete is enabled, it does a terrible job of managing it's suggestions and how it handles my desire to 'type through' the suggestions that it's offering.
    To test this, you'll need a PDF with multiple fillable form fields.  it seems to have the hardest time with numerical data.  Spend a couple minutes entering in a lot of numerical data into the fields.  Delete some of it, put in different numbers, and eventually you'll see what I'm talking about.  I suggest that, because in some cases I'm able to reproduce it immediately, and in others it takes a few tries or a few different PDFs.  If you have typed in an address, say '1234 main', then in a later field, type in a zip code of '12345', then in yet another field start typing 12345 then hit the spacebar, it autofills "12345main".  Note how 12345main does not match anything I previously entered, but the auto-complete database thinks that it does.  The 'ain' part of "12345main" stays highlighted, like that's what it's now suggesting.  If you backspace back so that it shows "12345" again, and then hit space, it will auto-fill to '12345main' again.  I can't simply 'Type through' thie suggestion, because it leaves the 'm' there.
    What's odd, is that for the sake of this demonstration, you type in multiple items that begin with 1234, then enter '1234 ' (note the space) on another field, it actually won't suggest to you the items you previously entered that begin with 1234 .  Example:  in 3 fields, type in  1234 Main St,  1234 Downtown Rd., and then in the 3rd field start type 1234 followed by space. You'd think you'd be offered suggestions by Auto-complete that contain both 1234 Main St. and 1234 Downtown Rd, but you don't.  If you type something like '12345' now, you'll be back to the problem i outlined above where it automatically selects an item from the list and grabs an unwanted letter from the first word after the space.  Interestingly enough, if you keep typing '1234 Ma' for example, you still don't see the Auto-complete suggestions unless you start hitting the 'Backspace' key, at which point the proper suggestions are displayed.
    For our users that send out a lot of correspondence to clients, this is a huge inconvenience.  The only workaround is to completely disable the Auto-complete option under 'Forms'.  If they do not, then they can end up with incorrect information going out to cilents, and some of them have sent printed forms to cilents containing characters that didn't make sense or numerical data that was not correct because it had picked up unwanted characters from auto-complete.
    Additional information:
    I'm able to duplicate this problem on multiple workstations.
    OS: Windows 7 32-bit Enterprise SP1, Windows XP 32-bit Professional SP3
    I'm able to duplicate the problem  with Adobe Reader X and Adobe Acrobat X
    The problem also occurs whether I select either 'Advanced' or 'Basic' for the Auto-Complete setting

  • I use firefox 3.6.6 on mac os 10.5.8. I want to disable auto complete for my gmail. How?

    when i type something into the "subject" bar of my gmail, it auto-completes the form. this is a privacy issue for me. how do i disable this?

    It is possible that there is a problem with the file that stores the "Saved Form" data.
    Rename or delete formhistory.sqlite (plus formhistory.sqlite-journal and formhistory.sqlite.corrupt and formhistory.dat, if they exist) in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] in case there is a problem with the file that stores the "Saved Form" data.
    This will remove all saved form data, so you may want to rename formhistory.sqlite to formhistory.sqlite.sav or move the file to another folder in case you need to recover some saved data.

  • Mail address auto complete???

    On the 3G with OS 2.2 when you started an email address, say with the letter M, up would come the most used addresses that started with M.
    Now with 3Gs and OS 3.0, when you start with M, up comes contacts I have never sent an email to at all.
    Any idea what happened? is this a setting somewhere? a bug?
    It certainly make emailing a LOT more difficult in the new OS
    thanks for any tips....
    tom

    I am having a problem with auto-complete in email as well. With OS 2.2, if I typed "M", it would take a split second before names or email addresses in the "M" category would pop-up. Now, after the OS 3.0 upgrade, if I compose an email and type "M", it takes 4-5 seconds before the list of "M" contacts pops-up. This annoys the heck out of me!!! I feel like I stepped back in time.
    I have three email accounts: One exchange, and two Yahoo accounts. Any suggestions welcome!!!

  • How can I get back Mail Auto-Complete email addresses?

    After upgrading to Mountain Lion, my Mail no longer works with the auto-complete of email address.
    My Contacts.app works fine, it just seems that Mail is no longer able to 'read' from my Contacts.
    I use iCloud and everything was great for years.  Mail preferences is set to Auto-Complete email address from my Contacts.
    Not sure how the problem started, but I launched Mail on a 2nd computer  - on the same iCloud.
    Shortly after I did that, my 1st Mac no longer auto-completes email.  I'm unsure if that is what set off the problem.
    Also, I 'did' read Tom Nelson's article which did not work since it's not an 'alias' problem:
    http://macs.about.com/od/MacTroubleshootingTips/qt/What-To-Do-When-Mountain-Lion -Mail-Fails-To-Auto-Complete-Email-Addresses.htm
    Also, there doesn't appear to be a com.apple.mail.plist preferences file I can even delete in Mountain Lion.
    I use Dropbox, but have never it to sync Addresses, Calendar, etc.
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    -Mark

    I had the same issue. After reading this solution I started poking around in the Container folder and found that there was a symlink for AddressBook that was messed up which was causing the problem. In ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Application Support I ran:
    $ cd ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Application\ Support
    $ ls -lh
    AddressBook -> ??/???7??ʪ?????VT???;??\G[?:??:??????T?_Ү??
    CrashReporter
    Mail
    SyncServices -> ../../../../../Application Support/SyncServices
    iCloud -> ../../../../../Application Support/iCloud
    Seeing the aliases for SyncServices and iCloud, I guessed correctly that I just needed to recreate the AddressBook alias to point to the right place. So I just removed the alias for AddressBook, recreated it, restarted Mail, and it worked perfectly. (Note: I did the following to remove the alias, and recreate it. You should confirm what you are removing is an alias. You should also always make sure you have a backup.)
    $ cd ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Application\ Support
    $ rm AddressBook
    $ ln -s ../../../../../Application\ Support/AddressBook AddressBook
    Obviously, DrewSchatt's  original solution to this works as well, but this way you don't have to delete the whole folder, resetting your preferences and possibly delete something else important (only recreating the alias, not deleting any files or data).
