In the details it is mentioned that it is an outdated version of Java.
Is this a security risk that i need to live with to get CS5 to run with Yosemite?
Also i need to reject messages from Java in the future about updates, or not?
    thx for any input

  • To open "CS5ServiceManager" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.

Recently updated to OSX Yosemite.  Now every time I turn the computer on I get this message.
To open "CS5ServiceManager" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
I don't know what CS5ServiceManager is.  And when I click on the "More Info" button, I am redirected to a blank screen.  So I'm confused and a little worried.  Is it necessary to install Java SE 6 runtime?  If so, I think I can find the instructions on how to do it, but I'd like to know if (1) it is safe to do so and (2) if it's necessary.

Here it is: Apple Java 2014-001. Quite safe to install. Only necessary if you are using Adobe's CS5 suite.

  • When I try and open adobe illustrator I get a pop up message saying "To open "Adobe Illustrator CS6" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime."

When I try and open adobe illustrator I get a pop up message saying "To open “Adobe Illustrator CS6” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime." it also says "Click “More Info…” to visit the legacy Java SE 6 download website." When i click more info it transfers me to an apple page which never loads, its just a blank page. I downloaded Java SE 6 like it says it needs but it did nothing. All of my other Adobe programs such as bridge, dreamweaver, lightroom, Photoshop, indesign, and flash all work except for illustrator. What can I do to fix this?

Go to Apple and look for the Java for OSX 2014-001 link. Download from there and install it.

Also when I click on More Info... button I  I get support.apple.com  website page, which is blank.  When I click on the OK button, same result.

  • Legacy Java SE 6 Runtime download website won't open

When I try and open my CS6 programs from Adobe the popup to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime comes up. Yet when I click the 'more info' button like it states to do to open the download button the apple website page opens up but the page does not load (it stays completely blank apart from the website title present at the top of my browser). I recently installed Yosemite if that helps. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Adobe Captivate 7 needs legacy Java SE 6 runtime

I need assistance with Adobe Captivate 7; it now prompts me each time I try to open the app to install legacy Java SE 6 runtime and then closes.  The only changes that I've made to my 13" MBPr, was to upgrade to Yosemite and install the newest version of MS Outlook.  Thanks!

This issue was corrected after installing Java for OS X 2014-001 and then restarting my system - all is good.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 error - you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.

I have PS 5.1 on my Mac. After I installed Yosemite, it will not work. I get an error saying "To open “Adobe Photoshop CS5.1.app” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime." According to Java, I have the latest Java. I contacted Apple and they said to uninstall PS 5.1. I reinstalled with no change. Any ideas? FYI - PS 5.1 work on my Macbook with no errors.
This is frustrating as I cannot use the software. Any help is appreciated.

    Install this:
    Java for OS X 2014-001

  • Installing my updated CS4 on a new I Mac: "legacy Java SE 6 runtime" error when i try to open psd

Bought the original Creative Suite package 1n 2004, installed on my new apple G5.  Upgraded in 2009 to CS4 and sometime installed on a 2nd computer.  I'm sure I registered each product.  I don't have the original disk's, but I have the serial number. I'm trying to install CS on my new I Mac.  It fails authorization in the download.  I went ahead and downloaded the 30 day trail like suggested.  I get the "legacy Java SE 6 runtime" error when i try to open psd.  After my first attempt failed and I read the help lessons on deactivation, I believe I have deactivated from the G5, but I'm still getting the same code when trying to open psd.

Download and install: Java for OS X 2014-001
    Reboot your Mac.
Let me know how it goes.

and - check with Adobe - would strongly suspect you need to upgrade CS. Strongly consider Creative Cloud, access to the entire TypeKit alone is amazing.

    Hi Chris,
Shortly after I got your message below, I got another message that claims it is from "help desk 24x7 has sent you a message - Adobe Forums”.
I am attaching the message.  I find it suspicious that it is asking for a Skype ID and a telephone number.  What do you think?

  • To open "Adobe Photoshop CS4" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.

I have updated my system to Yosemite and when I try to open Adobe CS$ i get this message. To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.  I have followed the links and installed Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005.
When I again try to open CS4 I get the  same message To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
    Can anyone assist please?
    Thanks Colin

you may need to uninstall CS then reboot, try to see if it allows you to update your JAVA
    APPLE'S JAVA
    Java for OS X 2014-001
    SUN MICROSYSTEMS JAVA
    http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_install.xml
    then reinstall CS4
I ran into something similar with CS6 where it needed to come off and go back on
technically CS4 is not supported by Adobe and reported to be problematic with Yosemite.
