Legacy media - 'match previous' zoom/position settings?

I have a lot of .jpg's for technical
illustration that have (for example) a diagram and a second .jpg of the same image but with a callout
(arrow or whatever) inserted.
I know how I can do this with layers now - but I'd like to reuse the old drawings.
To do that if I need to 'zoom/pan' I'd like to put the .jpg's in sequence and 'match previous clip' (I think that's what another NLE calls it).
For now I have been reading the position and zoom numbers and then re-entering them for the next selection.  A pain ALMOST enough to
use Illustrator/Photoshop to recreate the callouts.  But not quite.
Is there the equivalent of the 'match previous' function?

That works perfectly!  Thanks.

  • Video gets SOFT after using export/ media/match sequence settings

Never had this on any other version of PP.  PC based 64bit Win 7
EX: I get a job delivered to me that was shot on mini dv (now on a HD) & the clips are all seperated as they were shot.
I put them on the TL & want to make 1 long clip out of them.
I export-media-match sequence settings & the video gets 25% softer. Yes my sequence settings are correct.
I have tryed  using "max render quality" button but made no difference.
Does cs5 have a problem in this area? The video looks terrible!
    Please advise

Just drag your footage to the New Item button and will create a sequence that matches your footage.
There isnt a preset for that size but you can use the Desktop setting and create one that way too.

  • How do I move previous Channel Strip Settings from Logic 9 to Logic X?

    Hello,
I made the jump from Logic 9 to Logic X and I had previous Channel Strip Settings on the 9.  I did the yourhomefolder/library/applicationsupport/logic copy and pasted it in the new folders on my HD (exact same place), but they're not showing up.  I only get the 'Legacy' option when trying to inset a Channel Strip I had before.
Does anyone know how to do this successfully?
    Thanks.

    Banks,
    Indeed..
However, I would retain the LP9 app as firstly it's fairly small so you don't save much space by deleting it...and secondly, you might need it to work on older or new projects that still use 32bit only plugins as they are no longer supported in Logic Pro X
    Cheers..

  • Can you reset the zoom position?

    Hi,
I have a series of images taken with different settings and I want to quickly compare them at 1:1 in different areas of the image, center and corners. I have discovered that if I select the series I want to examine and then go to the first image and zoom that image to the position that I wish to when I use the arrow keys to move to each subsequent image will be shown zoomed into the same position. This is great and has been a big help with some testing of lenses.
If I don't ever go to any of the other images and zoom anywhere this works just fine. The zoom location is remembered just for the first image. However, if i accidentally or deliberately zoom on one of the other images it will remember that zoom location forever which breaks the technique described above.
So I am wondering if anyone has discovered a way to remove the remembered zoom location from an image like it is when you first import it into LR?
    tks, louie

The zoom position is a sticky between images as you describe. It can be quickly changed using the navigator panel and this will then become the sticky position. I don't think you can presently change this behaviour. If you want to suggest Adobe create an alternate mechanism post on the feature request board, you never know Adobe people may actually look in on it!!!.

  • Keeping "Lock Zoom Position" always enabled, also after restarting Lightroom?

I use "Lock Zoom Position" a lot in Lightroom. Unfortunately it gets switched off after restarting the program.
Is there a way to keep it enabled all the time? I would like to set and forget it and only in certain situations maybe turning it off.
I haven't found a way to enable it by default using the settings or so. :-(

I think the "Available Memory" figure is pretty standard for a 32bit system, which is what I think the OP is running.
@howmanyetc: A couple of observations: the systems specs would seem to be not much higher than the minimum requirements for LR4, so blazing fast it ain't ever going to be. Also is the J drive the new external drive that you bought? If so I'm guessing that it may be USB2 connected? If so having the catalog on a "relatively slow" external drive is probably not the best idea from a performance perspective. The "red lining" of the CPU during exports is entirely likely, the processor is simply not sufficiently powerful to do the work quickly. As a comparison, exports which take maybe 3-4 seconds on my desktop would take upwards of 30 seconds on my old Thinkpad laptop (similar specs to yours) with both cores at 100% with no deviation (and that was back in LR3, so I can't imagine how slow it would be using LR4). The "getting real slow" after a while is more than likely due to your RAM limitations, especially on a 32 bit system.
I'm not saying that you should rush out and buy a brand new powerful system, though I do think you might struggle to make significant improvements given your specs. It sounds as though you are doing everything you can to improve things, however as I said, if the catalog is on a USB2 external drive, trying it back on an internal drive would be the first place that I would start. Having the images on the external is probably OK, your bottleneck for things such as Exports is CPU, not I/O.
Do you need to be writing XMP for all your files? Do you have the "Auto write XMP" setting enabled? If so, turning that off and using Ctrl+S to manually write the XMP at the end of a session may help a little.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Figured it out.   Must sign out from Itunes and then back in and it works.

  • Imported files not matching FCE Playback / Render settings

The files were .mov exported to .mp4 using MPEG Streamclip. The .mov files were recorded from World of Warcraft's Mac Recording feature with the settings as:
    -Resolution: 640x400
    -Framerate: 29.97
    -Compession: H.264
There is an error of FCE not being able to import WoW's .mov files, so I use MPEG Streamclip. In streamclip, I export as "File -> Export to MPEG-4... -> H.264 Compression, 29.97 FPS, Turn off interlaced scaling"
Now FCE is able to import the footage. I can put it in the timeline, add effects, filters, etc. However, it needs a render after every single action. I suspect it's because the files' settings do not match the FCE Playback settings. I have read on another topic that instead of exporting to mpeg-4, to export to quicktime then DV PAL. But other users used footage from actual camcorders, mine are from a video game's recording feature, is there any difference?
What settings do FCE's Easy Setup have to be to match an exported file of Streamclip so the footage is native?

You don't have much choice in FCE: you must conform your movie to the standard DV settings; any other setting either will be rejected or will require continuous rendering.
So I suggest you to apply what you probably already read about using MPEG Streamclip: open your .mov file in MPEG Streamclip, then Export to QuickTime (cmd-E - NOT Export to DV!) with Compression: Apple DV-PAL (or Apple DV-DVCPRO/NTSC), Quality: 100%, fps: 25 for PAL or 29,97 for NTSC, Audio: uncompressed, Stereo, 48 KHz.
Only then, when imported to FCE, the .mov created by MPEG Streamclip will not require video nor audio rendering.

  • Possible to sync zoom position between images?

Say you have a group of photos taken on a tripod from from the same position, and you want to flip through them in 100% zoom view, with the zoom at the exact same spot on each one. For example, you might be evaluating corner sharpness on a lens at different apertures.
If you open the set of images for the first time, and position the zoom box where you want it on the first one, then stepping through subsequent images will in fact zoom to the exact same spot. But Lightroom remembers where you put the zoom box on each image, so once you move the zoom view on one of them, you can never get it exactly coordinated with the others again, except by tediously trying to eyeball it.
So is there a way to coordinate the zoom position on a group of pictures? Or if not, a way to make Lightroom forget the zoom position, so you can start fresh with a new one? I suppose I could drop them from Lightroom and then re-import, but that would be a hassle to do every time I want to check a different spot.

Thanks for the quick suggestion. Compare mode is helpful, but I really find it much easier to make comparisons by flipping back and forth, rather than looking side by side.
What I always did in the past was open all the images I am comparing in photoshop, then paste them all as layers into the same document, then turn layer visibility on and off. Differences in sharpness really jump out much more clearly that way for me. I am hoping to find a simpler way of doing this by staying in Lightroom.

  • Matching Long & Short Position in Futures

    Hii Experts ,
We are working on Futures in SAP ECC6.. There is a function of Matching Long & Short Position in Sap ,The function generates matching business transactions to which the corresponding margin flows are assigned, which i got to know from help.sap.com.  & following is the link
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_05/helpdata/EN/47/060cdb0d5e2ecbe10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
The problem is that i am not able to see this path in my SAP.
Please help  how this functionality can be used in SAP.??
    thanks & regards
    Saurabh Gupta

    Hi,
...one hint regarding the usage of TPM91:
In customizing you need only "Open" Transaction Types, because the Matching-functionality cannot differentiate between open and close - you just have Buy/Sell Open (...no Buy/Sell Close) Transaction Types.

  • I backed up my iPhone 4s before updating to ios7. then I updated my iTunes.  I updated to ios7 and now none of my previous apps or settings are on my phone!

I backed up my iPhone 4s before updating to ios7. then I updated my iTunes.  I updated to ios7 and now none of my previous apps or settings are on my phone! I tried to restore from my backup this morning, and none of my backups from this whole year are listed in iTunes!  Help Please! I'm so frustrated!!! I know i backed it up this morning, as well as 2 months ago because I saw the previous backups listed before I updated iTunes.  Where are they now?

I went back to iOS 7 and my backup file is restoring but when its done nothing is on my phone still and only takes 11-15 minutes to restore the backup instead of taking 25+ minutes like usual so I guess the backup is corrupted. How can I fix this?

  • How to retain zoom position of an image using Adobe Flash Builder?

    Hi,
I have created an Adobe Flash Builder Mobile App. I placed an image in the Homeview. I allow the user to zoom out or zoom in the image using GestureZoom.
The problem is each time the user zooms, it does not retain the previous position.
For ex., If I have a map image, I zoom the Bangalore area. After the zoom, I don't see the Bangalore area in the visible portion of the device screen.
Can anyone help me in this? I feel this is a very basic requirement of zoom but I am missing something really.
I have seen few samples of this requirement in Adobe Flash which does not work for mobile apps.

I don't understand what you mean, but to give you a sample file so you can see what I am talking about:
    link to fla file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/48932382/Untitled-1.fla
    link to swf file: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/48932382/Untitled-1.swf
As you can see in this file, I am turning the green page, but when you should be seeing behind the page, it's actually transparent and you end up seeing the page underneath it.
Here is a picture of it: (if your wondering, the pages have the same text, it's just the color of the pages are different)

  • Export Media- matching frame sizes to codec formats

The short version of this would be "what are the most common settings for compressed video at 720p"?
Reading the suggested settings for youtube and other sites simply leads me to more questions, as the presets from premier that get close to matching these recommendations all seem to have odd framerates and frame sizes...
    The long:
Producers that have me scoring audio to some short bumper intro clips have had me download the quicktimes from vimeo. Revealing the Inspector in quictime, i see the specs on the video files ("Photo- Jpeg" compression format, in what I've been told is 'true 720p resolution' (1280x720), at 59.94 fps). Yet cant seem to find similar export settings as presets in Premiere. I am aware of the very useful function of being able to match master project settings from within the Media, but other people who recieve the preview clips note 'why are these in Photo- Jpeg'?
When I use premier presets that contain 720p res, they are often an odd frame size, which again renders questions from the recipient (why is this 720p at 24drop?) etc. So wondering why the difference between what I recieve and what's available from the same video format preset.
For instance When choosing "Photo- Jpeg" as a preset, the res is indeed 720p, yet the frame is nowhere near 1280x720 (not in front of my rig right now but its something like 900x720). In fact quicktime presets come up with these odd frame sizes as well. The presets Im able to locate so far that hold full-frame HD output settings are branded DV and HDV camera options...meanwhile '720p NTSC' is also in odd frame sizes under presets, not sure what to make of that...maybe I was mistaken in thinking 720p NTSC runs at 59.94?
I understand that Youtube, Vimeo and other sites we may be using have their 'recommended settings' faq pages. However my main concern is whether these are also typical settings for compressed quicktimes that producers may want delivered offline as well? Is there a 'standard' at all?
Read alot of FAQs over the past couple days, but these mainly discuss the options available and how to get to them, not finding alot of info regarding
"when to use export settings and why".so I come to you for your expertise...
Thanks for your patience and your insight folks!

    >  Is there a 'standard' at all?
    No.
Sorry, but that's the simple answer.
    Regarding Photo-JPEG versus H.264:
Photo-JPEG codec in a QuickTime container is rather common for such purposes as stock footage---when the quality really matters, but file size (for bandwidth purposes) has to be considered, too.
H.264 is much more effective at compressing a file, but usually at the expense of some image quality. YouTube---to put it bluntly---doesn't care about the quality of movies the way that a stock footage website does, so YouTube prefers H.264. If you upload a video in a nice, high-quality, perfect file, YouTube will recompress it behind the scenes for playback---so you might as well give it what it wants in the first place so that you at least have some control over how your image is destroyed... er... compressed.
There's some more general information about output formats and codecs in this movie that I made:
"FAQ: What's the best export format or codec?"
