Legacy Timesheet System and Oracle Projects

Dear All,
Is it possible to interface legacy timesheet system with Oracle Projects. The intention is to enter timesheets/hours thru the legacy system and calculation of revenue and invoice in Oracle Projects.
1)Is this achievable, without issues?
2)How complex is this to achieve?
3)Any URL or documentation will be really helpful in this regard.
Thanks.
Regards,
Anand

Hi
There is no need for API.
You should write your own script to populate the interface table.
When you run the process PRC: Transaction Import, the system is validating the transactions. Only the valid transactions are imported as Expenditure Items. Exceptions remain in the interface, and you can review and correct those.
Review the deatils on Oracle Projects APIs, Client Extensions and Open Interface Reference.
Note, you should have set up a Transaction Source in Oracle Projects for your legacy Time system.

  • TFS 2013 Build for PL/SQL and Oracle Projects

    Hi,
We use TFS Build with SQL Server Projects.
We also have PL/SQL projects .We are using MSSCCI to check in and check out files. Is there anyway we can use TFSbuild  for these projects( [PL/SQL]/Oracle) too ?
    Thank you.
    Su

    Hi Su,
    Thanks for your post.
How do you manually build  your PL/SQL/Oracle projects?
TFS Build invoke MSBuild command to build project/solution on build agent machine by default. If these projects can be built using MSBuild command line manually, then we can use TFS Build(default build process template) to build these projects.
If these projects need be built using another complier, and this compiler support run the command line to invoke it, so you can add the InvokeProcess activity(execute the command line) to invoke this compiler to build these projects in build process template,
then create build definition using this customized build process template.

  • MS Dynamics and Oracle Projects

    Hi Folks,
Is there any interface between oracle projects and ms dynamics?
Any shed of light would be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.

There is no interface between Oracle Projects and MS Dynamics. You might have to write your own interface to get data from MSD and interface it to Projects.
    Hope this helps!

  • Budgetary Control and Oracle Projects

Budgetary control for Oracle Projects was mooted as future functionality in 11i. Is this now a reality, and in which release of 11i?
    Thanks

Budgetary Control has been added to Projects as part of MiniPack H. The documentation can be found on MetaLink. However, the docuementation does not provide a step by step set guide so I'm having trouble testing this new feature. If you find anyone who has more information regarding budgetary controls and funds check, please let me know.

  • Microsoft Project and Oracle Project

    Hi,
What is the satisfied feature in Oracle projects module to beat Microsoft project other than integration with financial module???

    Hi
Microsoft Project is a very good planning and scheduling tool.
It has noting to offer regarding costing, billing, integration with OTL, inventory, purchasing, AP, AR, GL, etc.
Oracle EBS Projects has limited functionality in planning, and no shceduling capability.

  • Interface need  between customer Payroll system and Oracle HRMS

    Hi,
we are implementing oracle HRMS to our client.but for the employees payroll they are using there own system .they need the interface between their system and the Oracle HRMS for the employees data. How can we provide this ..
Shall we give some(Required) oracle tablesI(their needed datas available here) access to them . if yes how do we give this. pl suggest us ..
    Regards,
    Kumar

if yes how do we give this. pl suggest us So much depends upon the architecture of your systems it is difficult to know where to begin. Is this read-only or read-write access? Is it a distributed system? Are the databases on remote sites? What are the SLAs you have to work to?
In general it is a bad idea to grant other systems raw access to your tables. At the very least build at interface of views or materialized views. A better approach is to construct an API of PL/SQL packages to wrap access to the tables and expose them instead.

  • Integration between SAPAPO and Oracle

    Hi Experts,
Here, we have a customer who wanna make planning using SAP APO, and the execution system is Oracle ERP system, they want to make seamless integration between SAP APO system and Oracle ERP system, are there any ones who know how to make it? Could you please give me some ideas or show me some document links? if you can show me one example, that will be good.
    Thanks a lot.
    Su

    Hi Su,
I donot have any best practices, still let me try to put my views on this.
The things required for planning in APO.
    1) Master data -
Can be created alone in APO -- yo uma yneed to use BAPIs to create mass numbers.
    2) Transaction data -
We were doing this incase of stocks. we are using BAPIs to create stocks of type (stock,Punchase orders,Purchase requisitions). Legacy system calls this BAPI and they load data with spread sheets to create in APO.Please check if is it is possible incase of Sales orders & other transaction data.
    3) Sending planning results to Legacy : Here you will have to write cutom programs to send results back to Legacy (For example IDocs).
    4) Apart from above you may need to develope few custom reports to ensure consistency b/w legacy & APO (to compliment  /SAPAPO/CCR functionality).
Hope this gives atleast an idea on what has to be done.

  • Importing P6 schedule to Oracle Projects

Is there anyone in this forum who has worked on importing Primavera activities to Oracle Projects?
    Regards
    Hawker
Edited by: HawkerHunter on Aug 18, 2010 9:55 AM

    Hello All,
thanks for your replies. We are currently using P6.1 enterprise version. We are currently implementing Oracle EBS Projects suite R12.0.6
We want to implement earned value management system through Oracle Projects.
We have two planning structures. One is the financial structure where we create the budget and also capture the actuals in something called "Cost activities".
Other is the execution structure which is basically done by the project planners in P6 and has a completely different structure as compared to the financial structure.
But for us to calculate the earned value, we need to collect the cost conponents and the performence components in some common structure.
Generally the project planners use their WBS to plan their activities. So we shall use the "Activity Codes" of P6 same as our "Cost Activity" structure and assign it to the Primavera activities so that on doing "Group and Sort" in P6 using these Activity codes, the activities shall get oriented in our desired structure.
So, I would like to know that while importing the primavera activities to the project plan in Oracle Project Management module, are the P6 activities impoprted based on the WBS only or it can be imported in any other order using primavera's activity codes.
    Thanks & Regards

  • MSP Integration with Oracle Projects

    Hi Dina,
Does the integration between MSP and Oracle Projects work without any issues in R 12.1.3? We've tried using it in the past with R 12.0.6 but have to say the experience was not good. It used to work at times and fail on other times. Most of the times the first time import from MSP to Oracle Project used to work but subsequent changes to the WBS used to give issues while trying to import into Oracle Projects (even though the link to the Oracle Project existed in MSP).
One of our new customers (Construction Company) wants to create the WBS in MSP (Microsoft Project ver 2003 or 2007) and then import it into Oracle Projects to track progress, effort and cost. Any changes to the WBS (which happens frequently) will be done in MSP and imported back into Oracle Projects. Does the above mentioned requirement work consistently in R 12.1.3? Please let us know.
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Sri

The MSP integration requirements that you describe should work in the latest versions of 11i e.g. (FP.M RUP4) as well as R12.1.3.
My experience is that providing all scheduling is done in MSP then the integration functionality works well.
The recommended process flow for MSP integration is:-
    •     Oracle Projects: A project manager creates a project in Oracle Projects from a project template containing information for deliverables, work breakdown structures, and resource assignments
    •     MSP: The unscheduled resource and workplan data is downloaded to Microsoft Project for scheduling
    •     MSP: The project is scheduled in Microsoft Project based on task assignments, task dependencies, task constraints, and other attributes
    •     MSP: The scheduled workplan data is uploaded to Oracle Projects for publishing
    •     Oracle Projects: The project workplan is published in Oracle Projects
    •     Oracle Projects: After the workplan is published, the project is accessible to all team members working on the project. Team members work on their assignments and report their progress in Oracle Projects
    •     Oracle Projects: The team members' progress on the tasks is collected for updating the project plan
    •     Oracle Projects: The project plan is updated with the team members' progress
    •     MSP: The project is now unscheduled. The unscheduled project plan is downloaded to Microsoft Project for rescheduling
    •     MSP: The project plan is rescheduled in Microsoft Project and the task information is updated
    •     Oracle Projects: The rescheduled workplan is uploaded to Oracle Projects for publication

    Hi,
The Primavera intergration works with the "Standard Intergration" of Oracle 11i & R12.1 with the version of P6, this is the statement was in by the market experts. Even I have not worked on this intergration part of primavera with Oracle. still, I can provide you some search engine links, which could help you in http://www.projectp.com/products/op3.php ; http://www.projectedconsulting.com/index.php/community/blog/2010/04/primavera-and-oracle-projects-integration/

  • Is Oracle Project Management has all features which Microsoft Project Plan?

    Hello Experts,
Customer wanted to start using Oracle Project Management suit completly along with little Microsoft project plan. as of now most of the projects are using microsoft project plan for project management and Oracle Project suit is for Costing and Billing.
But in order to start this initiative, we need to explain the difference which Oracle Project Management can not able to do but Microsoft project plan can. Based on this management will take the decesion.
As per my understanding, Orace Project Management can perform all the tasks except scheduling. As it supports scheduling from third party software like Microsoft project plan / primavera etc.
Rest I think Oracle Project management suit is equally matured to perform all the project management task which Mircosoft project management can perform.
So experts , can you please confirm my understanding and provide me some light on this topic.
    Thanks :-)

    Hi,
First of all, I would like to know what are the various things you are performing with a Microsoft project plan apart from scheduling the resources to a specific project .
Through Oracle Project Management, you can control the visibility of a resource, assign it to a particular project and control the tracking of the time in various assignments. If that is what you are trying to achieve through Oracle Project Management icnluding the other features it has, you can surely go for it.
Let me know if you have any doubts on it.

  • Config Suse 9 and Oracle Database 10g

    Hi,
I'm trying to install Suse 9 with Oracle 10g on a HP DL380 server and I need some information (This will be an environment for Portal applications):
    1) Can SuSE SLES run ok with Processor Hyper Threading (PHT)?
    2) What kind of RAID is better for this kind of installation: 1 or 5?
    3) System comes with blocksize 512. Is this ok for oracle or we must change to 8.192?
    4) Is there any major issue I must know before starting?
    Thanks in advance.
    Clotilde

Hyper Threading is supported in linux since version 2.4.??. Suse's SLES 9 comes with a far more actual kernel and therefore - yes, it will work on a PHT-system.
RAID-Level 5 is good for the normal stuff: binaries, user files like documents, sheets, a.s.o. but lacks of performance for database operations. Better use RAID1 or RAID 10 and a lot of disks - minimum 5 separate disksets to avoid concurrent disk operations which slow down your database rapidly!
Well, having the operating system and oracle core on a RAID5 (min. 3 disks) is a good start. On the HP (Compaq) DL380 you will run out of mounting options for your disks - you have only six bays for harddrives. This is IMHO not the best choice for a database maschine, as long as you don't use external storage arrays.
The blocksize topic is far more complex to describe. For this and your fourth point, I advise you to read the oracle documentation as a first start. Needless to say that the ORACLE PRESS have some very good written books covering the whole area of database administration (DBA).

  • 11.5.10: Copying and migrating project to another jdev

    Hi,
    I have a small query.
I created a project in one system and my project was running nicely. Now i moved my project to another system and tried to run it with jdev but its not recognising my business components packages. Do i need to recreate my business components packages or is there any other way out?

    Got the answer.
Just import you code , jdev will take care of rest.

  • Oracle Project Connect - MSP2000 Does it work?

We're looking at implementing Oracle Project Connect 2.5.1 with MSP2000 SR-1 and Oracle Projects 11. At the moment its proving difficult to snap and we're finding no information on Oracle Project Connect on the Oracle website. Has anyone had a successful implementation and/or could feed back their experiences to us?
    Kind Regards
    Richard

    Richard
In terms of licencing 'Oracle project connect' has been 'absorbed' into Oracle Projects, so you may not find any general manuals on this. You are right there isn't a lot of data on it. I assume you have tried Metalink otherwise If you are interested I can probably get something. [email protected]

  • VS, ODT and using "Oracle Project"-template requires Policy Management

    HI,
I installed the ODT 11.1.0.6.20 and tried to create a new project using the "Oracle Project" but received the following error message: "The project <ProjectName> requires Policy Management. Open this project in Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Developer or Visual Studio.NET Enterprise Architect."
I have tried this using VS 2008 Professional and Team Edition. The operating systems is Vista x64 Ultimate.
Oracle documentation doesn't mention any specific VS version so this is perhaps something else. Is there a workaround or fix to get around this?
    TIA,
    Kari

OK, I'll give it a try. This suggestion makes perfect sense. I have used that template to create a project before, but noticed that it doesn't contain a windows form by default and so I assumed that it was a build for a n-tier application database access class, which is not necessarily what I want, and so I abandoned the effort. I know I can add a window form. I appreciate the response and will post back my results.
Is there an example project somewhere that I could download and have a look at?
Thanks again for your reply, even though you didn't reply to me. I think you resolved my problem! :-)
