Legal to sell or give away an old version?

I just bought version 12. Is it legal to sell or give away my version 10, which is now useless to me?

Is your version 12 an upgrade from version 10? If so, you cannot sell it and keep using version 12 since your version 12 is an upgrade of the version 10 license. The version 12 upgrade serial number is only valid in conjunction with the full version 10 serial number. You'll need both serial numbers if you ever want to reinstall version 12.
If version 12 was a full version then you are free to onsell your full version of version 10 since you've got two separate licenses. The version 12 serial number does not depend on the version 10 serial number.

  • I want to give away my old Mac Powerbook G4 to a friend, what is the best way to cleanly do this?

I want to give away my old Mac Powerbook G4 to a friend. Ideally I'd like to get my iphoto/itunes library deleted, but am afraid it will delete itself on my new MacBookPro as well.  This would be tragic.  Ideas?

If you used the migration assistment then your data will be okay.
I (and most of the people here) would strongly recommend you reformat the computer before giving it to anybody

  • Photoshop CC does not open a RAW NEF file with Camera Raw 8.5. Also, my Help Update gives me an old version.

I've tried updating the plug-in using PS Help CC but it updates with an old version. I downloaded 8.5 and did a manual install but Photoshop doesn't recognize it and the plug-in "cannot be found." I can see the plug-in on the HD drive where it was supposed to go. What am I missing here?

  • Ever since I agreed to install the new Mozilla Firefox I can't even send an e-mail successfully. I want the old Mozilla Firefox back and I will never agree to a newer version of anything. Please give me the old version back.

I want my old Mozilla Firefox back because ever since I agreed to try the new Firefox, I've had nothing but problems every single time I try to send an e-mail. What used to be easy and quick, now is difficult and takes an inordinate amount of time; sending it over and over, and telling the message that tells me something like a page is not responding, to send it again or quit; and I have to do this many times over to get it to send a text. That has never happened before. I will never agree to a newer version again. Just please give me back my old Mozilla Firefox.

Beginning with Firefox 4, Macs must have an Intel x86 processor (which you do NOT have; yours is a PPC Mac) '''''<u>and</u>''''' OSX 10.5 or higher

The good news is that Firefox 3.6.24 still supports OSX 10.4 and Macs with the PPC Mac architecture. The bad news is that support for the Firefox 3.6.x series is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

  • Can I give away An older version of Photoshop Elements?

    Hi,
I recently got Photoshop Elements 8. I would like to give my old Elements 6 to my grand daughter. Can I do that without some kind of copyright infringement? Can she register it and use it just as if she had bought it?
    Thanks,  Harold W

Thanks Barbara, I will use that form just so my grandaughter learns how to do things correctly.
    Thanks again, Harold W

  • Can I give away Elements 11 since I have Elements 12?

I have both 11 and 12 installed on my computer, but no longer use 11.  Can I give it to my sister?

    MikeFromMesa wrote:
Ah, but what if it was used for an upgrade? Can it still be used by the original owner?
Yes, but only on the same computer on which PSE12 is installed.
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/legal/licenses-terms/pdf/CC_ EULA_Gen_WWCombined-MULTI-2012…
Can it be given away and used by someone else? Can it be sold?
Yes but if you do that you will not be able to run your PSE12 upgrade since the PSE11 serial number is required for your PSE12 upgrade to be valid.
    Transfer an Adobe product license
In short, your PSE12 upgrade still requires you to retain your PSE11.
My assumption has always been that once it was used for an upgrade it no longer has a valid serial number and that was the hidden cost of upgrading, but is that correct?
    No, not at all.
Your PSE11 serial number is still valid and PSE11 can still be used, even when you have PSE12 installed.
An upgrade merely upgrades an existing license to a new version. But you still only have one license. If you own PSE1 and upgrade to PSE2, 3 etc all the way to PSE13 then you still have only one license (with two activations of the software).
As you can see from clause 5 of the EULA above, your use of your PSE12 upgrade is conditional upon you retaining PSE11.
If you ever sell or give away your PSE11 then you cannot use your PSE12 upgrade. You'd have to buy a new full version of PSE13 (since 12 is no longer sold by Adobe).
If you ever sell or give away your PSE12, then you must also include PSE11 (being a Prior Version of the software) in the transaction.

  • I have an old macbook which i want to give away.  i want to delete all my contacts etc.  how do i do that without deleting on my new macbook and iPad?

I have an old macbook that i want to give away.  i want to delete my information such as contacts mail etc.  how can i do that without deleting it from my new macbook pro or my ipad?

Go to System Preferences > iCloud and turn iCloud off.
Restart holding the Command and R keys and then choose to reinstall Mac OS X.  If you have applicaitons on the machine that should not be transfered to another party, after the restart choose Disk Utility and erase the hard drive and then install Mac OS X...that will return the machine to factory condition.

  • I want to give away or sell a 6500/250 running 7.6.1. How can the hard disk be erased so that the data are gone, not recoverable? thanks, LifeisRich

I want to give away or sell a 6500/250 running 7.6.1. How can the hard disk be erased so that the data are gone, not recoverable? thanks, LifeisRich

I'd recommend that you check for Mac User Group(s) in Orange County.  That's where you'd likely find a diehard Mac fanatic who might want to add your 6500 to his/her collection.  Even if you got nothing for it, it would be better than e-cycling it.  I upgraded my 6500/275 with what was a "large" hard drive at the time (15 GBs), maxed the memory at 128 MBs, installed the 512K L2 cache card, a better ATI Rage Pro PCI graphics card, a USB PCI card, and an internal 56K modem.  With it running OS 9.1, it did all of the pre-OS X stuff I needed it to do.  As I previously mentioned, it's a nice-sounding MP3 player.  Internet Explorer 5.1.7 (the final release from 2001) kept it useful for surfing the web up until 2005, when it became too outdated/incompatible with many web sites.  Unfortunately, the demands of the internet and the need for a modern browser, as well as faster processing to digest it all, are what retired many older Macs from active duty.  So my (2) 6500s and (3) 6400s (same tower design) sit in storage.  There is one concern that I'll pass along: The motherboard has a 4.5-volt alkaline battery, that's a small, black plastic cube, secured in place by velcro.  If your 6500 has been disconnected from electricity for a long time, the battery will undoubtedly be dead.  Unlike the many Apple computers that used a small ½AA lithium battery (that I've never seen leak when completely dead), the 6500's battery can and usually does start leaking.  Because the motherboard sits vertically oriented on its side edge when installed, the leaking battery will drip alkaline solution down the board, corroding any components in it path.  I've seen motherboards ruined from this.  If you're going to give it away or sell it, you might want to pull the motherboard (remove the two machine screws on the rear I/O panel, next to the pull tabs).  Slide out the board and unplug the battery's small connector (has red & black wires), then lift up on the battery, while holding down the "toothed" velcro mount with something non-conductive, like a popsicle stick.  Once it's free, dispose of the battery.  If you're interested, a replacement can be purchased for about $5-$7 from battery specialty retailers - it's a Rayovac 870 or 871.  Even if you don't replace it, removing one that will eventually leak is a good idea, (hopefully) before any damage is done.

  • I've managed to get back to Pages 4.3 and delete the downgrade Pages 5, which makes a total mess of any doc prepared with it,  but how to I get back to the old version of Pages on my iPad so that I can work while I am away from home.

I've managed to get back to Pages 4.3 on my iMac and delete the downgrade Pages 5, which makes a total mess of photo-rich documents prepared with Facing Pages (most of mine),  but how to I get back to the old version of Pages on my iPad so that I can work on sections away from home. At least on my old PC, Word maintained compatability with old versions. Beginning to regret having switched.

Thanks for your help. What is really irritating is that Apple give a big hurray about what they have added as "new"  in Pages 5 (most of it pretty useless) without telling you of the myriad things they have deleted.  If they had shown the list your gave the link to, I doubt may regular users would risked going to Mavericks with its auto upgrade. My partner got the message in time and is sticking with the earlier operating systems and Pages on Mac and iPad. Lucky girl.
I have found a way to use my iPad to add chapters written while on the move to reports on my iMac Pages 4.3. If I write it on the new Pages on the iMac (don't seem to be able to revert there), the send the report as an email in WORD format (not Pages) and download it in the Text Editor, then cut and paste into the story on the iMac. Hardly elegant but it works.

  • Trying to give away parts

the power supply on my G5 dp failed.  I replace it with a new mini.  I've removed the hard drives and am trying to give away parts rather than trash the whole unit.  8 gb, dual channel dvi video card for my 30in cinema display, superdrive.

Sell on eBay and you'll get paid to mail the stuff off!  Depending on the video card model, you may have a very sellable item.
Or, sell the whole thing "for parts" which might entice someone who would drop in a working power supply and get it going.

Here's what it reads, of which I got none:
Free Delivery on TV Purchases 51" or Larger
Best Buy will provide Standard Local Delivery of your TV. Charges apply for delivery outside local delivery area. TV will be delivered into the room of your choice and unpacked. >> To once again reiterate, they did not unbox my TV. They did assemble my TV. They did not hook it up.
And they did not haul away the old TV.
And now I can't find anyone at the Best Buy hotline to even understand what I'm trying to say.
    HELP!

    Good afternoon FranklinAvenue,
After receiving your TV, I'm sure you were disappointed to find services normally included were not completed. I imagine this certainly lowered your satisfaction with your TV ordering and delivery experience.
With most deliveries, you are correct that basic setup and haul away of the old unit are typically included. With the information you registered with the forum, I was able to locate your order and review your services. Unfortunately, it seems that haul away was not included on the service order. This may have been due to it not being selected when placing the order, or a system error. However, the basic setup should have been completed. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
I also see that you were able to have setup and haul away completed on 1/5/15. I'm glad to see that we were able to return to complete these desired services. I hope that this experience has not negatively influenced your future shopping destination.
    Sincerely,
