Legit Email Being Moved to User Junk Folder

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this or not. So if this needs to be moved, would a moderator please move it.
What we have is a user is seeing certain email from the internet being placed into the user junk folder. The user uses the OWA not outlook. Our setup is exchange 2013 SP1 with a 2 member DAG. We do use Mcafee's Security for Exchange but when the headers
of the legit email are viewed, Mcafee's Security does NOT scan it AND Mcafee Security is NOT set to deliver SPAM to the user junk folder. We have the malware option of Exchange disabled. The scanned header part of the legit email says it uses spamassassin.
Here is the full header with sensitive info removed:

There aren't any rules on the exchange server. Does exchange do any form of spam scanning?
We do not have an edge server.

Hi,
According to your posting, I noticed that there are two third-party value in the message header:
X-Pidgin-SpamProbe: GOOD 0.0000010 9a9e88a5e77c0f07e773e841e70ec91b
X-Pidgin-Spam-Flag: Clean
Generally, we can use the X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SCL value in message header to check whether the message is spam message in Exchange environment. I am not familiar with the X-Pidgin-Spam-Flag value which may be a value for a third-party spam filter.
For more information about SCL in Exchange server, please refer to:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995744(v=exchg.150).aspx
If the issue only happens to a specific user and specific messages which are send from specific senders, we can add these senders in a Safe Sender list in your Anti-Spam program to have a try.

I've just got an email that came into my junk folder asking me to reset my account is this spam?
It claims there was suspicious activity as there was a log in attempt from an unknown device then provides a link o enter my data, which I haven't done, why would apple be asking for my credit card details?

It is a phishing attempt. Do not respond. Do not divulge any personal or financial information. You can use the address below to forward the suspect email message to Apple.

  • Emails to myself go to junk folder

    Hello All,
I send myself emails occasionally using my @mac.com email address. In the last few days these mails are going to the junk folder rather than to the inbox, which, needless to say, is problematic. There are two observations I can make:
    1. In the junk folder, the messages are NOT marked as junk. Their color is black as opposed to the orange for other messages, the junk button (thumb up or down) is indicating them to not be a junk message, and also they are not showing the bar that appears on other messages.
    2. When I look at the headers for recent messages I see the following two lines:
         X-Clx-Spam: true
         X-Clx-Score: -1032
Whereas in older messages I see:
         X-Clx-Spam: false
         X-Clx-Score: 107
The score varies between some of the messages, but only slightly. Presumably this is the result of some statistical algorithm that determines whether a      message is spam or not.
    3. When I copy other email addresses the problem does not seem to occur
This happens regardless of client used (iPhone, iPad or mail on OSX). I tried to reset the junk mail settings, but to no avail.
I'd appreciate any advice, thanks in advance.

OK, I assumed that you had already tried these things. The port and SSL settings in Preferences > Accounts > Advanced refer to the incoming (POP) mail server and have no bearing on this.
What matters here are the settings that become available when you click the Outgoing Server Settings button in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information -- yes, it's a really confusing interface.
The settings to be used there depend on the ISP. Some ISPs require authentication, some don't. Some ISPs require SSL encryption of the password, others can handle it but don't require it, others cannot handle it at all. Different ISPs may use different authentication protocols (e.g. Password, MD5, Kerberos, ...). Some ISPs use different servers depending on whether authentication is used or not... You get the idea...
I almost always avoid the "Cannot send" threads in this forum because in most cases the user just doesn't know which settings he/she should use, and there is no way for me to know either. You must check with your ISP what those settings are supposed to be -- there is usually a web page on the ISP's site with that information.
Now, even if you know what the settings should be, there could be other problems such as the standard port being blocked for spam-related reasons, and this is where Mail Help may provide useful information. There are several articles grouped under "Problems sending and receiving mail". In some of them, Apple suggests, amongst other things, trying to change the outgoing server port to 587 instead of 25, which seems to solve most "cannot send" problems being posted in this forum.

  • Emails from iPhone going to Junk folder caused by signature

I recently came across an issue when sending emails from my iphone using my business account.  When I send emails to users of Outlook 2010, my emails go straight to their junk email folder, but for other versions of Outlook this does not occur.  I appears that my email signature is causing this issue as I deleted my signature and the problem was solved.  I want to be able to keep my signature in my emails that are coming from my iPhone, but I don't understand why the signature is triggering the junk email filter in Outlook 2010.  Has anyone had this problem?

I don't understand why the signature is triggering the junk email filter
Because Outlook is interpreting the text / content / formatting of your signature as that which could be viewed as junk.
This has nothing to do with your iPhone, but is an Outlook "issue"

  • TS3899 Email safe senders going to junk folder

How to stop safe senders from going to the junk folder?

Change the Junk filter options via the email provider's website.  Or, some email providers, if you move a message from junk to inbox, will auto-detect that you're 'trusting' that email address.

  • I moved my users/yourname folder my other drive and want to move it back

    Hi there.
I recently swapped out the internal hard drive for an SSD and I swapped the optical drive for another HDD.
I use the SSD as a system drive that I don't write to.
The HDD is for audio and documents.
I moved my users/yourname to the HDD including the library folder but it's been strongly recommended that I move the users folder back to the system drive and move the iTunes, iPhoto, docs, and desktop folders to the HDD.  Do I just simply copy the folder back over to the SSD and delete the folders on the HDD? do I need to do anything in the terminal?
    thanks for your help.

You could point your home folder to the new destination so the system recognizes it as such, and not touch anything. See below

  • Lr Publish Service Provider: trigger by photos being moved within the local folder structure?

    Hi folks,
I recently finalized my first Lr Export plugin and currently I'm working on the Publish Service Provider enhancements for that Export plugin. So far, everything works as expected except one thing::
The publish service provider supports mirroring of local directory structures to the publish destination. So, I am interested in photos being moved from one local directory to a different one, since I have to propagate this change to the destination. Lr informs me whenever a photo/video is changed (acc. to my settings in  publishServiceProvider.metadataThatTriggersRepublish()) or deleted, but what about the fact that a photo was moved from local directory a to b?
Any chance to register a trigger for a photo movement?
    Martin

That's an interesting approach, never thought that way round!
It might not be suitable as a general prodedure for every single normal "Publish" action, because if you have e.g. 10 pictures with status "to be re-published" in a collection of  20.000 pics or more you wouldn't expect the Publish plugin to re-check all photo locations. That would make the publish process unacceptable lame and annoy the people.
But if I define it as a publish option ("check for moved photos only"),  this would be way to "automatically" find and mark moved photos for "to be re-published".
Well, not exactly what I was hoping for, but a reasonable second best approach.
    Thanks!

  • My iCloud email is not syncing emails I moved into a Saved Folder on devices

I have an iPad 2 & iPhone 5c - both are running on most current iOS 7.
I moved a large number of emails to a saved folder.  It shows online they are moved on the computer, but not on my phone or iPad?
I have refreshed.. turned the device all the way off and on.  ... I just tried turn off the email and settings and turn it back on.  It still has those emails in the inbox. Way too many to go and select and move on the devices without taking forever.
Any ideas on how to get them to sync properly?  Driving me nuts.  I am trying to keep my email organized, and neat.... Love and hate technologys somedays!

  • Why are my husband's emails being sent to my spam folder?

Just recently, every time my husband sends me an email from his Yahoo email account using a Chrome browser it winds up in my spam folder in my Yahoo email account that uses a Firefox browser. We have used the same email accounts for years and same browsers for years but the problem just started yesterday 1/16/12. Thanks, Carol Possehl

This is probably becuase in the forum grouping, there is the option to receive emails which you may have accidentally selected. Normally one only wants to receive emails about the topic in question, not the entire forum, which is irrelevant. So check the forum page and on the RHS in Actions where it mentions email notifiications, change that.

  • Firefox sync is rearranging my bookmarks. Those within folders are being moved to mostly one folder, leaving my other folders empty.

With the latest version of Firefox, 29, the sync rearranges my bookmarks. It never did under the old version - old version clunky and a pain, new version doesn't work!
I have tried Aurora, same. I have completely deleted my profile only importing my bookmarks from a backup. As soon as I enable sync, after a while the bookmarks are rearranged.
I keep all my bookmarks on the bookmarks toolbar folder, half a dozen folders containing a few dozen bookmarks. To the right of these I have maybe fifteen of my most used regular sites.
When I enable sync, the folders jump to the right of the links, and all but one of the folders becomes empty of their bookmarks, they all get dumped into one folder?
This is an essential part of sync for me, followed by the extensions, I love FF and don't want to go back to Chrome, where I defected to for a short while. Chrome totally nails the backup process, privacy aside.

    Hi beardybuck
Thank you for your question. I understand that the new versions of Firefox appear to be rearranging the order of some bookmarks. If you can reproduce this from an earlier version of the places.sqlite file let's open up a bug with the steps. However there are some tricks to auto sort them [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/auto-sort-bookmarks/ add on for Auto Sorting Bookmarks] as well as a number of other add ons.
This may be useful as well:

  • Classified junk mail intermittently not moving to junk folder

    Hello,
I am running Thunderbird 31.3.0 and all of a sudden the junk mail (which is classified and marked) is not being moved to the junk mail folder intermittently on some of the IMAP accounts setup on Thunderbird.
Again, this problem only intermittently occurs but it seems to happen on the same couple of email accounts. The junk mail is marked and stays in the inbox but does not automatically move to the junk folder. If I unmark one in the inbox and remark it - it moves automatically. if I restart Thunderbird, all newly received junk moves as expected for a time until the problem intermittently start occurring again.

    One last thing to try:

  • Junk mail not automatically moved to Junk folder

    Hello.
I'm using an IMAP account and have configured Mail to move junk mail to the chosen junk mail folder (junk is not filtered on the server but on my client). Since the junk mail filter is still learning sometimes junk mail is not detected and still goes to the inbox. That's okay.
If I then select that message it is somehow miraculously detected and marked as junk. However, it is not automatically moved to the junk folder but remains in the inbox marked as junk?
Is this desired behaviour? Why is the mail not automatically moved to the junk folder, like it is when I manually mark a mail as junk?
    Thanks in advance

I just happened to notice that even mail that is automatically marked as spam/junk remains in my inbox. So I open the inbox folder and there is message that is marked as junk. Only when I manually reset and set the junk status is the message moved to the junk folder.
This seems to be the case in an IMAP acount where all folders (sent, drafts, spam, etc.) are subfolders of the actual inbox folder.
Is anyone else experiencing this behaviour?
    Thanks in advance

  • I send myself an email and it goes into the Junk folder

Sometimes - but not always - when I send myself an email, from my own computer and not a work computer, the email ends up in the Junk folder. I mark it as Not Junk and move it to the In Box but that doesn't solve the problem. As I say, this doesn't happen with every email I send myself, just sometimes. For the most part, Junk works just like it's supposed to and I like it. It's just kind of weird that MY computer thinks MY mail is junk. (Well, it might be, but that's another story.)
For what it's worth, my email address is a .mac account.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

  • Junk not going to Junk folder

Ok. I keep getting all messages marked as junk that actually are not being sent to the Junk folder. They just sit in whichever mailbox they came to. I have the junk settings enabled and set to send it to the junk mailbox (automatic). But for whatever reason, nothing ever goes to the junk mailbox. Any ideas on what I can do?
    Thanks

There is probably some corruption in one or more of the files used by the junk filter. The following procedure thoroughly gets rid of all those files, so that Mail creates them anew:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/.
    3. Locate LSMMap2 and move it to the Trash. This file stores information about what does and doesn't constitute junk, and is what allows the junk filter to learn. Clicking the Reset button in Preferences > Junk Mail also deletes LSMMap2. The file was called just LSMMap in early versions of Mail, delete that as well if you see it.
    4. Locate DefaultCounts and move it to the Trash. This file keeps statistics about the number of messages that have been marked as junk, either automatically by the junk filter or manually by the user.
    5. Locate MessageRules.plist and/or MessageSorting.plist and move it to the Desktop. This is where Mail stores all the rules, including those used by the junk filter. The former is used by Mail 2.x, the latter by Mail 1.x. There is probably also a MessageRules.plist.backup and/or MessageSorting.plist.backup file there; move it to the Desktop too.
    6. Look for the account folders. The name of each account folder starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. Open each of the account folders, locate the Junk.mbox or Junk.imapmbox folder within it, and move it to the Trash if present.
    7. Go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Locate any Junk.mbox mailboxes there (their name may include the account name in parenthesis), and move them to the Trash.
Note: Messages in Junk mailboxes with an .mbox suffix are stored locally and will be lost forever as a result of doing steps 6 and 7. If there is a chance that you have legit messages there that you want to preserve, either move the messages to another mailbox in Mail first, or move the Junk.mbox to the Desktop (to be imported back later) instead of to the Trash. Junk mailboxes with an .imapmbox suffix aren't a concern because they are stored on the server and Mail will rebuild them automatically.
    8. Open Mail. As a result of removing the rules file, the junk filter will be disabled now. You may want to either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down the Internet connection before opening Mail, to prevent it from downloading anything until the junk mail filter has been enabled again.
    9. Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk filtering, and configure it however you wish.
    10. Go online again if you went offline in step 8.
If the above solves the problem and you don't have any rules you'd like to preserve or recreating them is not a daunting task, just trash the rules files that were moved to the Desktop and be done with it.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

  • How do I mark things as not junk that end up in my junk folder

Sometimes I get an option right on the email to click "not junk."  However, these items don't seem to have this option.  I don't know how certain emails are pre-determined to go into my junk folder.  However if they some how got in there, it seems there should be a way I can mark them "not junk" for future emails from the same person or from the same group of persons.  Anyone know how to change the setting some how?   Thanks in advance!

I don't know what CurlyMolly's problem is. But I have a problem with an email that keeps ending up in my Junk folder...
"Mail maintains an internal database of information that helps it detect junk mail. When you mark messages as junk or not junk, Mail updates the junk mail database accordingly and your junk mail filter improves over time. If you change your mind about what is junk mail (for example, you want to receive someone’s messages that you previously specified as junk mail), you need to mark them as not junk."
That last part which states to "Mark them as not junk." Well, where is that? Because what is in the top part of my Mail app when I have that message selected while in the Junk folder is "Mark this as Junk". Fact is, I have a rule set up for messages from the senders email address to be moved to a specific folder. I actually have dozens of rules with emails being moved/copied here and there. This one email is my only problem child.
