Lenght of hdmi cable from computer to TV

Have Hdmi on my HP and on my TV.  Need to run about 59 ft from the computer to the TV.  Have read that is too long for a good signal.
Want to show pictures.

While a high-quality (read expensive) HDMI cable of sufficient length for your application should work, you may encounter video signal degradation that may render the image unrecognizable. Alternatively, you could use an HDMI over Cat5e/Cat6 Extender, such as THESE.

What version of the system are you running on your MacBook Pro? Is it new enough to have the Messages application? If so, add your iMessages account to your Messages Application.

The model 7,1 is actually the Mid 2010 MacBook and is the only MacBook with a Mini DisplayPort that sends audio along with the video, Here's some Mini DisplayPort to HDMI with audio adapters from Amazon.

What year was your Mac made, IE what Model year is it and what model is it?
With newer Macs all you need is a good Mini Displayport to HDMI adapter, I know the Griffin model work as I have one, and a HDMI cable.
If a Retina model that has a HDMI out port then you don't need any adapters of any kind. Just a cable from HDMI to HDMI ports on Mac and TV.
Once you have a good adapter, if you need one, and the cable is connected to the TV go into System Preferences and the Sound Applet and there should be an option in the Output section for HDMI. Enable that and the sound will be sent over the HDMI cable to the TV.
If you have an older Mac computer then you may need to use a separate cable from the Mac headphone out port to a Line In port on the TV

  • Just bought a hdmi cable from iPad to TV

I got two ipad 2 and just bought a hdmi cable for it however the cable will only connect to one iPad and seems to big for the other ipad can any one please tell me why this is. Here is cable I got.

What cable do I buy for the other ipad as I thought all ipad2 had Same connectors. Thanks

That link does not take me to a cable.
You must use an adapter from apple to go from the ipad 2 to HDMI, bith Ipad will have the same connector if they are the same model, You may have one with a 30 poin connector and a newer one with lightning connector.
    What are the model numbers.

  • No sound on TV when using HDMI cable from MAC

    Hi
Anyone any ideas why I cant get any sound on the TV when I plug the HDMI cable in - It only comes thru on my MBP.
Also, I have to scroll the mouse off screen and grag any windows off screen in order for them to display on the TV .... It must be smething to do with resolution or something...But I cant work it out
    Any help gratfully received
    Thanks
    Emma

To get sound you will have to tap into the audio output port.  This will require a 'Y' connector with a compatible plug that fits the port and splitting into the two audio channels with RCA connectors.  The image shows a possible type you can use, but you would still need two male/male RCA connector extensions to your TV.  A little search on the Internet should enable you to identify the most practical way of connecting audio.
The ideal set up is to use the extension shown with a Y connector with male out put connectors.
    Ciao.

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • How to connect macbook pro to panasonic tv with hdmi cable

How to connect macbook pro to panasonic hd tv with hdmi cable

    Hi m,
It depends which MPB you have and the inputs on the TV. The following assumes your TV has an HDMI input which will work with a computer.
This is if your MBP is from April 2010 or newer:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
First connect the adapter to the MBP and the HDMI cable from the adapter to the TV, then go to System Preferences > Sound > Output > select HDMI.
Or if your MBP is older than that and you have a Mini DisplayPort, you can use something like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CBLMDPHDMID/
If it's older than that, for video you need a DVI or mini DVI to HDMI or whatever input your TV has. For audio, you need a 3.5mm stereo mini plug to RCA or optical (Toslink), depending on what audio input your TV has.

  • Mini dvi to hdmi cable??where

i want to view the itunes visualizer on my 52" hd lcd sony bravia3. i would like to stay in the digital domain, thus use the hdmi connection. I searched everywhere. where can i get a mini dvi to hdmi cable. i saw mini dvi to dvi, is this the same connection minus the wire inside for audio?
imac G5 1.8mhz, and macbook intel core 2duo   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   wireless keyboard and mouse

what you want to do is get the apple mini div to dvi convertor and a dvi to hdmi cable from a good electical shop.
doing it this way for the video the screen shows the macbook as a box in the screen area, as in there will be a black box around the screen. this does this on my girlfriends lcd tv just a 27inch lg. though the tv only has auto detect for screen res. in my plasma, pioneer 46inch i get full screen but the top menu bar is only half showing, i havenot played with the settings on that yet.
for true digital or surround sound you are better to use an optical cable via the headphone jack. no point if u dont have a digital sound amp though

  • Using Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable

Using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable from a 2010 MacBook Air is playing up, making it practically unusable. Essentially what happens is that when connecting a television set using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable the picture is perfect but no longer than 30 seconds at a time before the picture 'goes to sleep'. Is there a setting I need to change? There must be a setting that I can change which I haven't worked out yet. Thanks in advance for your help

has there been an answer to this yet?

  • Do you have any ideas on how I may resume my TV volume to full capability after disconnecting the HDMI cable and Macbook Pro to watch DVD's somehow my tv volume got turned down and I can't get it to restore fully. Any constructive ideas?

I  used the HDMI cable from my Macbook Pro to my Panasonic TV to watch DVD's but I had no sound, so I used the community suggestion in going to system preferences>sound etc. followed the instructions and got great sound in fact very loud to my TV so I turned down the volume from my TV remote control. After watching the DVD's I disconnected the HDMI from my TV and realized for some reason my TV volume now is not returning to it's full volume even though I've tried to turn it to it's maximum. Any constructive assistance is truly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey, it's a simple fix that should give most people what they want until there is full VZW support: the ability to use their card with the VZAM software.  I didn't see anyone else offering that suggestion...  If you don't want to use it, you don't have to.
At the very least, this does seem to prove the theory that this is an issue with the 32/64bit compatability that some have refuted.

  • HDMI cable supporting sound

    Hi there,
I bought a single HDMI cable from my macbook pro to my TV. The cable said to support sound and image, yet when I connect it, the sound still plays through my macbook.
Any idea how to fix this, or do I actually need to buy an extra cable because my macbook can't handle this cable?

    To update:
There is no "HDMI" option I can select in my Sound settings in System Preferances.
There also is no option on my Panasonic TV that allows me to adjust the sound to any HDMI cable.
