Length between locators (in Seconds)

Is there any window, or option that will display the length (in seconds) of the selected area between locators or of a single region?
I am creating "scene changes" music between songs of a medley in a single Logic file.
I want the "scene change" bumpers to be identical in length. I have chosen to display both "bar and time" in the Marquee stripe, however, this require my to SUBTRACT to derive a difference.
I COULD slide the locator strip to the beginning to see the length in time without subtracting, but this is a tedious step, plus it puts me away from the regions I'm trying to trim to size.
Please help if you know of a way to display the length (in seconds, of the locator strip breadth..

Hi,
hmmm... fastest trick I could think of: drag the green locator to the left until the area almost is at bar 1.
Now, zoom in far at bar 1, and drag the graan area while holding the CTRL button. Keep an eye on the yellow info window, that shows the position. Move the green area until it says "1 1 1 1".
Now, jump to the right locator and see what the time display says.
One disadvantage... works only when using a fixed tempo.

Jaap

  • How do I "bounce between locators" to render audio within a comp?

    Hi,
Is there way to "bounce between locators" to render audio within a comp?
In editing my vocal comp, I realized that I needed to extract a better version. So I just want to render the one phrase that I need and have it output to a separate track, or the audio bin, or wherever. I don't need to bounce the whole track and waste time and memory.
    Thanks a million

I answered my own question, in case anybody else had the same question.
It's simple...just set the locator and bounce. To bounce the whole song, you set the locator for the whole song.

  • Firefox is lagging between 1-5 second intervalls

I am using MacBook with OSX 10.5.8 with 2.2 Intel Core 2 Duo and 4Gb RAM. Firefox version 5.0.1.
The browser keeps lagging for 0,5 seconds between 1-5 seconds. It is very disturbing.

This sounds like the usual delay between tracks. There are lots of reasons for the delay, but the biggest culprit of all is the abstraction layer programming in DVDSP which adds all kinds of navigation for you 'under the hood'. The net result is that there is a lot of moving around the disc done by the player before it can get to the actual destination you need it to get to. The delay is different in different players, too.
I am wondering why you are using different tracks, though. Can you not simply put all of the footage into the same track and use markers to split it? This way there is no need for the player to find a new track... just move along the one it has got lined up already. You will find it a lot easier to get things timed correctly if you did it this way.

  • Indent Lengths Between Pages for Mac and iOS

I've been using Pages on my iPad a lot for classes. During lectures, I type outlines in a blank document and quickly switch between headings and subheadings with the "indent increase" and "indent decrease" buttons in the toolbar (looking at the ruler, it seems like the default indent length is a little more than half an inch - maybe 1.5cm?).
The problem is that when I later open the document via iCloud in Pages on my iMac, the indent lengths become readjusted so that each indentation takes up 1.8 inches (so 3.6 inches for a double indent, 5.4 for a triple, etc.). Short of highlighting each line and manually changing the indent length in the inspector, I haven't found a way to fix this change. Further, if I make any other changes to the document in Mac Pages, that 1.8 inch indent length carries over to iOS Pages. When I then try to open the document in iOS, I get:
"This document may look different on your iOS device than on your Mac. Use Open Copy if you want to preserve the original." [Open Copy] [Open]
Not wanting a duplicate, I'll choose [Open], and I found I could quickly restore the 1.5cm length by selecting all text, going to list settings and selecting "None" (as opposed to "Bullet," "Image,' etc.). But the next time I try to open the document in Mac Pages, the cycle repeats.
Am I missing some obvious way of keeping these indents consistent across devices, or do I just need to deal with this reformatting each time?
(newest versions of desktop/mobile Pages are running on Mountain Lion and iOS 6)

As a first step, I would suggest restarting and/or resetting the iPhone:

  • DVD Length between 2-3 hours

    Hi Folks,
I just finished a project in iMovie, which is 3h and 4GB.
I get the project length error message. I know that iDVD don't burn DVD over 90 min. What is the work around, wenn I want to create a single DVD to accomodate the above specs, which could be played on most home DVD player!
    Which options do I have?
    thanks

Most newer players support DVD+RW discs (last couple of years or so) I bought a couple inexpensive ones ($50-$70 range) to be able to view DLs I make on televisions.
Really depends who will be getting the discs. There are also ultilties to reduce the size of the DVD-9 to DVD-5 (some loss of quality) after you make a DVD-9. Otherwise you will need something else to make the discs and tweak the enbcoding rates to fit the disc. Depending on the material (low action) you may be able to fit 3 hours on one DVD-5 disc with okay quality

  • Adjust Region to Locators error message

    Hello,
I've been trying to sync a video with the audio and I'm running into some problems.  It's something I've done before, but here's the deal.  I'm recording vocals for a film.  On occasion those vocals don't match quite so well, so I'll adjust the region to locators and things generally will slide into place without a problem.  I've also used the Option+drag to get the right length file.  Now that I've got my reels bounced out as vocal sessions I need to adjust the length of each session to match the feature length film file.  I've got a little bit of sync drift that I want to fix, but whenever I use the Adjust Region to Locators OR the Option+drag I get an error message:  Time Expansion fo Audio is limited to 400 percent of its original length.  Please set a smaller destination size and try again.  OR Time Compression of Audio is limited to 25 percent of its original length.  I'm only compressing 1.5 seconds from the end of a 20 minute region.  So I'm way under the 25% limit and nowhere near the 400% limit.
I can't find anything online about this, and it's driving me crazy.  Any thoughts?
    LP8.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I had the same problem.
What I found out is that If you choose any one of the legacy algorithms for the time machine algorithms it will work!
Go to audio -> time machine algorithm -> Legacy Algorithms -> [choose any algorithm here]
Then go to audio -> adjust region length to locators
    and voila, it works.
Those legacy alorithms, namely "Version 5" and "Any Material" did the trick for me.
    Good luck!

  • Maintaining length of originally recorded clips

I was pretty good with iMovie 6 and my miniDV camcorder, but now am working with a Canon HF11 HD camera (flash memory) and iMovie 7.1.4 and it is like starting over again. Sorry to ask what is probably a very basic question, but thanks in advance for any advice!
When I imported into iMovie 6, it retained the original length of my clips. However, when I import in iMovie '08, it seems to "split" the long clips. For example, I shot a gymnastics routine of about 1 minute, but after import it appears as many different pictures in the library (and project after dragging it in). I can select the clip and it highlights all the different frames. It would be more convenient (less clutter in the project window) to have fewer frames. Is it possible to do this? Thanks, Jeff

There is a slider in the Events pane which lets you set the length of each thumbnail at everything between 1/2 second and 30 seconds. You can also pick 1 thumbnail per clip. I prefer five seconds myself, because it facilitates editing. You can do the same with your Project pane if you want.

  • Tell me the proper different....between them.

What is the difference between VARCHAR, VARCHAR2 and CHAR data ...

    From the docs...
    VARCHAR Datatype
Do not use the VARCHAR datatype. Use the VARCHAR2 datatype instead. Although the VARCHAR datatype is currently synonymous with VARCHAR2, the VARCHAR datatype is scheduled to be redefined as a separate datatype used for variable-length character strings compared with different comparison semantics.
So basically there is no difference between VARCHAR and VARCHAR2.
But the difference between VARCHAR2 and CHAR is that the first one is a variable length string while the second is a fixed length string.
That is if you have two variables c1 (varchar2(10)) and c2 (char(10)). When you store a value 3 bytes in both the first one allocates only 3 bytes but the second allocates 10 bytes. For Char data type its always followed by trailing blank spaces.

Until recently, I loved Firefox. Lately, when I go to any website and try to download a page, the screen freezes for between 10-20 seconds while ads load. Why the screen freezes is both frustrating and annoying. I have the latest version, nothing on my computer is different, and as I said, it didn't used to do this. Any ideas what's going on?
