Length of time a pop-up menu remains - using MX

Pop-up menus created in fireworks are set to show onClick.
Exported to Dreamweaver. When viewing, menu remains visible until

Hi C_martin,
You might try using onMouseover and onMouseout behaviors in
the Dreamweaver MX Behaviors panel.
Use the same collection of image files.
I use Photoshop and ImageReady to prepare the images (and
slice them up if necessary), then generate the HTML and images. I
then copy the pertinent portion of the HTML from the generated HTML
and paste it into the HTML page of my choosing. Then in Dreamweaver
I individually assign the onMouseover and onMouseout behaviors.

  • Can't add new time in pop up menu template

Hope someone can help as I'm lost on this one. I am trying to use the schedule template in iworks09 but I need to add more time variations in the cell pop up menu. I enter the inspector pane for the particular cell and click into cells inspector which shows the pop up menu option with the various time options. When I click to edit the time or add a new time it won't allow me to save it with either AM or PM. This stops the daily hours formula from calculating the correct time worked. Is this a glitch in the program or am I missing something? I need to add 30 minute increments between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM because according to apple nobody starts or finishes between these times! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    chabotlow,
This is a tricky template, believe me. Numbers is interpreting your pop-up entry as a DATE/TIME value, and apparently you have set your System Preferences > International to not use the AM and PM indicators, so Numbers is reformatting your entry.
The next problem that you are going to encounter is that all the other entries in the POP-UP have an un-displayed DATE of many days earlier, back when the template was designed. So, when you do the subtraction to find the elapsed work time, you will get a big surprise if your POP-UP data was entered on different days. If you want to change a few times on the POP-UP menu, you will have to change them all so that they all reflect the same DATE. That's not as bad as it may seem. Make one "IN" POP-UP and one "OUT" POP-UP. Then copy them to the rest of the table.

  • How to edit Time in POP Up menu?

    Hi guys...
I am trying to use the Basic Numbers '09 template "employee schedule" which is on the first page when you open new file.
Now I want to change the TOP UP menu from "stating 06:00 AM" to "9:00 AM" and have a lot more starting time. like 9:30 PM and 9:45 PM up to 05:00 PM.
When I select the Timing CELL and go to inspector in "Cell format" I can remove them, but I can't add, if I try to add " 10:00 AM " then press enter or press tap, it will only type "10" in the box and that won't work!
could you please have a look at the free template and help me... thanks a lot.

You should be able to add new items to the end of the list and delete existing items. What you cannot do is sort them or add any in the middle of the list.
When I hit the + to add a new item then I type "10:00 AM" (without the quotes) and hit enter, I get 10:00 AM. I don't know why that would not be working for you.
If you change the popup menu, you really need to search this forum for other posts on the employee schedule template. The times in the popup are saved as date & time, not time only, and they have the date on which the popup was created. The formulas in the table will give you some massive time differences if some entries are old and others new. If you are basically deleting all the items on the list and adding your own and you do it all on the same day (not some today and some tomorrow), you'll be okay. Otherwise, you need to modify the formulas to remove the date difference.

  • Using COUNTIF formula using controlled data in cell pop-up menu

I'm making a spread sheet that involves adding up the number of times a certain item occurs in a log. A pop-up menu is used in the cell to control the inputs of the log. I'm not sure how to go about using the COUNTIF function to count the number of times each item occurs. The "workout tracker" template in Numbers '09 does what I need to do when counting the "number of days exercised", but I don't understand how it was done. Can anyone explain this to me?
My log table is: (Dashes denote spacing)
    Date---------Log Item-----Time
    01/03/09---Item 1-------9:00am
    02/03/09---Item 2-------12:15pm
    03/03/09---Item 3-------9:10am
(you can only chose Item 1, 2 or 3 from a drop down list, you can't manually input anything else)
I want to use a countif command for a table that is:
    -----------No. of Occurances
    Item 1-------1
    Item 2-------1
    Item 3-------1

I'm guessing you are curious about the way they did COUNTIF and what "Indicator" is. If you unhide all columns in the Workouts table, you'll see a column D with the header "indicator". The reference to "Indicator" in the COUNTIF functions refers to the entire column. There is a fairly long formula in the cells of that column but, basically, it just populates it with 1-3 depending on what you pick in the Activity popup.

  • Image size pop up menu missing in mail window

Tonight I was about to resize an attachment (a photo) in the Mail message window, but discovered that the image size pop up menu that used to appear at the bottom of the mail window is no longer there! I tried quitting Mail and launching it again, restarted the computer (a 2003 iMac G4 running Tiger), and repaired permissions. Any ideas on how I might get the image size pop up menu back again? Thanks.

Seems there must be something messed up on the HD.
Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
The important part is to Repair the Disk before Repairing Permissions.

  • Using COUNTIF on time values in pop-up menu (employee schedule template)

I have modified the Numbers employee schedule template to my liking and it works very well. I would like to add a column to the beginning which shows, at a glance, how many people I have scheduled for AM shifts and PM shifts on a given day. My AM shifts start at 9:00 AM and my PM shifts end at 6:30 or 8:30 PM.
So I thought I could use COUNTIF, but after I set the array, I cannot get the condition right to return anything except "0". How do you make it detect the appropriate times? The times in each cell for In and Out times are selected using a pop-up menu, just like the template.
Here is what I tried: =COUNTIF(E3:AE3,"9:00 AM")
What should the condition be to return a proper count?

    ac,
You shouldn't feel badly about having trouble with this template. It is a rather tricky one. The values in the Pop-Up menus are Date/Time values. That is to say, they have year, month, day, hour and minute components, even if only the hours and minutes are displayed. So if you only compare to the hours and minutes, you will never get a match.
I don't know if you have experienced this yet, but when you changed the Pop-Up menu content, you probably entered the current year, month and day unknowingly and will have trouble doing math against the Pop-Up content that was originally in the template.
My suggestion in your case would be to convert the time references to decimal hours before doing a comparison. For instance, if the time you wish to compare to is in cell C4, you could extract the decimal hours with =HOUR(C4)+MINUTE(C4)/60
Remember that the hours will reflect a 24-hour day, so times in the afternoon will run from 12.0 to 23.99...
Then after converting to decimal, instead of using "9:00 AM" for the COUNTIF criteria, use 9.
There are probably ways to do this using the Duration format as well, but I prefer the decimal hours.
    Hope this helps.

  • Pop-up menu to list multiple time values (8:00 AM etc.) ?

I was looking at the option of using a pop-up menu to select times (8:00 AM etc.) from to keep from having to enter all the times in my spreadsheet manually. Has anyone done this before and is there a download or widget for this? Unfortunately for me, I would need it to be in increments of 5 minutes starting from 7AM to 7PM or so, which would be a tremendous amount of parameters added to a traditional pop-up menu.
    Thanks for any input.

    T25 wrote:
Thanks for the insight, it seems to make good sense to me with your process to create multiple pop-ups and/or sliders. Since I'm still new to iWork Numbers though, are the tables you illustrated in your reply saved in a separate spreadsheet to use as a reference for the pop-up in other, separate spreadsheets? Is that what LOOKUP is used for (to reference another sheet)?
My invoice has a single cell for an "IN" time and another for an "OUT" time; all incorporated to a fairly "busy" invoice that can't accommodate any additional cells in those areas.
Both tables are on the same sheet, but I placed them on separate tables on that sheet.
They don't have to be on separate tables, and they don't have to be on the same sheet, but they do have to be in the same document, as Numbers does not provide for linking to separate documents/files.
With the busy invoice in your case, you could place the popup and slider cells (two of each) on a separate table, and only the result cells on the same table as your invoice. The popups and sliders could go on the same table as the lookup array, but that table would then have to be both visible and unlocked.
Placing the Lookup array on a separate table allows you to lock that table to prevent accidental changes to it. You can also easily hide the Lookup table by placing it behind the main table (your invoice), or on a second sheet in your document.
Placed on the same table as the rest of the invoice, you can still hide it simply by hiding the two columns containing the lookup information.
An alternate method, requiring no extra cells or tables would be to Use Insert Date and Time (in the Insert menu, or from the keyboard with shift-option-command-D ) to insert the date and time directly.
There are some complications with this which might make it unusable, depending on how many people need to be trained and how well they take to training. Insert Date and Time starts with the assumption that what you really want to do is insert the date. Changing its mind takes a couple of extra steps that must be done immediately, and each time.
    1. Click on the cell to select it.
    2. Go Insert > Date and Time (or press shift-option-command-D )
    3. Before taking any other action, double click the cell (which will now be displaying the current date) to open a small dialogue.
    4. In the dialogue, use the popup menu to choose one of the Time only formats.
    5. Click outside the dialogue to dismiss it.
The cell will now contain the current Date and Time value, and will display the current time.
Note that the Time, when inserted this way, will be the time that the insertion was done, and won't be rounded to the nearer five minutes.
You'll find a discussion of LOOKUP (and the two related functions, VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP in the iWork Formulas and Functions User Guide, and an excellent overview of Numbers (including explanation of the terms I've used above) in the Numbers '09 User Guide. Both can be downloaded using the menu items in the Help menu in Numbers. Both are recommended reading for new and old users of Numbers alike.

  • Best way to create pop-up menu's

    Hi All,
I have been having a heck of a time doing something that i
would have assumed to be relatively simple - specifically creating
    a pup-up menu.
My first set of approach was to dynamically create a movie
clip on a button rollover, and within that movieclip create several
other movie clips that i then assigned actions too. The problem was
that since i applied a action on "rollout" on the initial movie
clip, it became a button, and as such all of the sub
movieclips/buttons became in active (any click was only detected on
    the parent).
My second set of attempts have been around the MenuComponent
(see other posts), but here too i have hit problems, initially with
animation and depth. I solved the animation issue, but the depth
    problem remains.
Now, i see pop-up menu's everywhere, so i assume that this is
a relatively simple problem - so what am i missing. A google search
showed up lots of examples of how to do using menu that are created
in the UI (rather than purely in AS), using purchased components.
The first case is not an option since i need to create it fully
dynamically, the second would be an option - however i typically
need a far greater level of visual control than off the shelf
components provide (hence i have needed to build up my own class
    library for many common tasks).
So after all that, i have a simple question.
"What is the best way to create a dynamic popup menu in
    AS2?"
    Regards
    Neil

I guess you want to make your own popup menu, if I understand
correctly. Nothing simpler, your first attempt was in the right
direction, you just don't assign button actions to the parent clip,
because you won't get the child clips to work, but add another
child at the lowest level inside the parent, that acts as a
    "background" clip/button.
And for the rollout for the entire popup, you can add a
transparent clip just under the popup (which is at the currently
topmost depth) covering the entire stage, give it rollover that
acts as your rollout, and make it not use the hand currsor, so you
    can't tell it's there.
That's how I do it, anyways..

  • Troubleshooting pop-up menu in Dreamweaver 8

    Hello,
    I'm using Macromedia Dreamweaver 8.
    1. Created a pop-menu woith 6 items all linking to 6 different anchors in a different page.
    2. The first 5 items work fine - they link up to the 5 anchors in the destination page.
    3. The 6th item when clicked simply closes the pop-menu and does not link to the anchor in the destination page.
(Completely checked the anchor name and also tested that anchor by linking from a different page).

  • Why am I unable to update my Firefox 3.0 when the pop-up menu tells me that the download was complete?

I am repeatedly told to upgrade my version of Firefox.
Each time I attempt this, whether I disable my anti-virus software (AVG) or not, I get a pop-up menu telling me the download was completed but I still seem to be on the 3.0 version.

You appear to have upgraded to a supported version. I will also attempt to answer your other question. [/questions/885242]

  • Need Help: JTable POP up menu in a CellEditor to display on a right click

This was from a previous post:
I am trying to make a POP menu in a JTextComponent that has a assigned JEditorPane for a HTMLDocument to make use of the HTMLEditorKit to allow modifying HTML by the POP up menu.

  • ICal 5.0.3 Repeat pop-up menu not appearing

I created a new calendar and then copied events from the previous year into it. Now I'm trying to set events to repeat yearly, but when I pull up the event, I'm not getting the pop-up menu that allows me to reset the time or repetition. This problem only seems to happen in the events I copied from the previous calendar. Is there anything I can do, short of re-typing each event?

Using iCal 5.0.3, I used to see a "repeat" option for events on my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7.5) and on my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1), but the option has disappeared, both for new events and for existing events opened for editing.  iCal on both the MBP on iPhone syncs to iCloud.
What could have happened to the "repeat" option?

  • Dreamweaver 8 Behaviors for pop-up menu

I am a novice user of Dreamweaver 8. I created a site using
pop-up Behaviors for a dropdown navigation bar. I've read about a
lot of problems others are having, but part of my problem I have
not been able to locate anywhere.
After I created my template and want to save changes to the
template and update the files based on this template, I go thru a
series of JavaScript errors. It never updates any files in the end
and sometimes shuts down the program. An example of ONE of the
    error messages is:
    At line 1654 of file "C:\Program Files\Macromedia/Dreamweaver
    8\Configuration\Behaviors\Actions\Show Pop-up Menu.js": The
    function saveDocument() is currently unavailable.
The more pages attached, the more error messages I get....
    all are .js errors.
The other problem is the links from the pop-up. I've double
checked them in the behavior pop-up menu... they appear to be
correct and sometimes work, but not all the time.
Everything I read says that I should create the navigation
with pop-ups (drop down menus) in Fireworks. Is Dreamweaver that
unreliable that this can't be done within itself?
If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong to receive these
errors and how to correct my links so they are reliable, I would
very much appreciate it. I have recreated this site 6 times and the
    errors are consistent.
    Thanks, cjbyrnes

You read about all these problems, yet you pressed ahead and
    used them? Why?
DW's Pop-up menus are incompatible with DW's templates.
    Embarrassingly sad,
    but true.
Did you read about and investigate any of the many
    alternatives posted?

  • Customizing Sorting Pop-Up Menu

I've looked on all the forums, can't find answer to this specific question.
I'm using Aperture 1.5.6, but will take an answer on 2.0 too.
I don't use most of the "default" categories established in the Sorting Pop-up Menu. But I do use other categories, like IMPORT GROUP, to sort pictures. Each time I want to see pictures according to category not in default I have to go to the List View and click on category. I cannot figure out a way to save this sort or add this category to "default" list.
Is there a way, a workaround?
    Thanks.

Be wary of editing pop-up menus in Numbers. Altering any menu that has been set will change the menu AND its current setting.
See Alphabetizing pop-up menu, particularly the entries by Badunit and Hiroto.

  • Rollovers with Pop up Menu

The last time I tried to do rollovers with a pop up menu in
Dreamweaver 8. It wouldn't work. So I'm searching for another way
    to do it.
I created navigation using Fireworks - follow link below to
example. But when I mouse over the rollover that has a pop up menu
attached to it (First link on the left) the rollover images
disappear. Also the drop down menu tends to hang down longer than I
    would like.
Can my problems be fixed? Is Fireworks the right tool for
    this task?
I had down loaded a trial of the latest version of
Dreamweaver a few months ago and it seemed that this feature had
been deprecated, but there was some sort of plug-in. I'm far from a
casual user, but it was beyond me for the weekend I tried to use
it. Also, this is a bad time for me to invest in new software or
    upgrades.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Example of rollover and
    pop up menu problem

Don't use Fireworks to make HTML,
especially interactive HTML. Fireworks is a great tool for
making Web graphics, but it is
    NOT
good for making HTML. Don't go there. You won't be happy.
    Read this:
    The
Sordid Tale of mm_menu and fw_menu.js and then save yourself
loads of frustration and go buy yourself a professional menu.
What's your billing rate? At $20/hr a $100 professional menu that
works, cross-browser, beautifully, is going to save you more
than 5 hours of hassle trying to get this stuff in Fireworks to
    halfway...kinda...function...almost.
I don't use these kind of menus, but I've seen this question
asked often enough to know that one recommendation is the code from
    Project
    7.
