Lennart's titles in iMovie HD6?Snow Leopard

Just loaded my iMovie HD6 onto the new Mac (Snow Leopard) and was happy to find that Gee Three has made their Slik software upgradeable for all their plug ins to work with the updated version of Quicktime.
I was also hoping to have Lennart Thelander's title upgrades, that he had generously provided free back in 2006, when I first used them. I found a newer website (his?) that had a link to the title file, but on download, my Mac immediately dumped it into the trash.
Are these LT titles not available/usable on newer Macs?
Thanks,  Forest

Yes, if you had any GeeThree plug ins, they would not work if you updated your QuickTime to 7.3.1 or higher, because Apple removed Flash support in that version.
As I said, Gee Three addressed this some time in the intervening years and if you still have your registration code, or other info that will help them find it, you can get the updated download that will work with newer QuickTime versions. They are up and running on my HD6 on the new Mac now.
Still hoping to have the LT titles back also though.

  • IMovie and Snow Leopard... snow rhymes with.... ??

    SLOW!
iMovie is unbearably slow under Snow Leopard. Every scene addition, every transition every MOVE brings out the rainbow wheel.
    YIKES!!
Any thoughts besides waiting for a fix?

Snow introduces three types of QuickTime.
    1) The new QT X player is used as a replacement -- sort of -- to the old QT Player.
    2) To support FCP and iMovie there is a QT Framework -- which may also support QT X.
    3) There is a version of the previous QT Player you can install.
It appears that while FCP was checked out to work under Snow, the same was not done with iMovie 09.
All folks can do is wait for Apple to release a fix to Snow and/or iMovie 09.

  • IMovie and snow leopard (again)

After searching through the forum I can't find anyone who seems to be having my problem, or at least speaks about it. I can't get my iphoto videos to show in imovie after installing snow leopard, BUT :
    - I have quicktime 7 installed
    - I have checked off for iphoto to copy to my library (I always had it like that)
    - If I try and make a new iphoto library like someone suggested, my videos still do not show in imovie
    - the video formats are supported by imovie
    - I have checked off for show all videos in imovie
    - There was one who suggested to check off "share iphoto library" in iphoto, I did this too, no luck
My current solution has been to export the videos from iphoto and import them manually into imovie, but this is time consuming and stressing.. any ideas, anyone?

You're not the first to run into this, and probably not the last.  Why didn't you just install SL on its own partition?

  • How do I get iMovie on Snow Leopard

I have an older MAC that is on version 10.6.8. My hard drive recently failed and the tech group at ArcTech reinstalled the OS X version on my laptop. I don't have iMovie anymore and I can't download it off of App Store because it needs Lion. Can't find the installer for Lion, and Mountain Lion is too new for my computer (fails install due to system requirements). What do I need to do?
I can either get updated to Lion...somehow; or purchase a new mac? (<< Stupid). Please assist me.

You need to purchase iLife 9 from eBay or Amazon. This includes both iMovie and iDVD. After installing, you can update via Software Update.

  • Macbook Pro with snow leopard pre-installed

Does anyone know when the retail apple store locations will have the 13inch MBP pre-installed with snow leopard? i called up the local apple stores in my area and they still dont have these yet, maybe they need to get rid of old stock? i understand that snow leopard comes pre-installed when purchased online but i dont want to do that.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you sure? You realize if you ever find a software title that is not Snow Leopard compatible, but is with older versions of Mac OS X, and you buy a Mac with Snow Leopard prebundled, there likely will be no way of going back to Leopard or earlier. This has been the case with all new Macs once they come prebundled with a new operating system.
Unless you are 100% certain of Snow Leopard compatibility, I would be happy to have this reprieve.

  • Fadeouts becoming nonfunctional in iMovie HD6

Maybe someone has covered this in the 741 pp. If so, apologies. Using iMovie HD6 in Leopard. I drag fadeout transitions to the ends of my video clips. Hit Update. Hit Save Project. Fadeouts work. Add more fadeouts down the line. Then the first ones don't work anymore. I try Select Similar Clips, hit Add (which does not otherwise highlight, incidentally). Works for all clips. Later I go back and try the series. Fadeout clips still present in Timeline but don't fade. Am I missing something here? FWIW, I am following the fadeout clips with black clips.

    Hello, Kevin,
I have had something like this happen with some of my cross-dissolve transitions if they are between a movie clip and a still photo. The audio from some part of the movie clip will be incorporated into the transition. It does not occur between two movie clips or between two photos. I don't know if it happens with fade-out because I have not used it that much.
Unfortunately, I have not found a permanent solution that prevents this from happening, but here is a way to eliminate the sound. Mute the transition to make it silent.
I then add my background music or other audio if I want sound during the transition.
Choose to put your movie in the Timeline view, not Clips view. Then select 'Show clip volume levels' to see the audio volume in the transition. You may have to move the slider to the right to enlarge the transition enough to see the volume line. Just drag the volume line down to the bottom of the transition clip to silence it. Be sure to grab the little purple box at the beginning and drag it completely down, or you will still hear a little pop of noise when the transition starts.

  • Kernel Panic in Snow Leopard (crash!)

After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I have experienced several kernel panics (the mac version of the blue screen) which requires hard reboot. It seems to be getting worse, and the today I`ve already had 5 kernel panics after 6 hours of usage. The only pieced software installed/changed in the previous weeks are software updates from Apple.
My Macbook panics when running a minimum of programs:
    - Safari
    - Mail
    - Thunderbird
    - AdiumX
    - Cisco VPN Client (latest version)
The Cisco client might be the problem, but I have experienced panics without the VPN client running too, and the panics are more frequent now than last week (use the VPN client every day).
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    According to:
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client 2.4.0.154 (BETA) works in 32bit or 64 bit.
Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client 2.3.0.185 32bit Mode ONLY
    Cisco Clean Access Agent 4.1.3.
Are the Cisco titles that work with Snow Leopard.
Adium 1.3.6 or later is needed.
It currently reports issues with Thunderbird. Although I'd look elsewhere for kernel panics*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/kernelpanic.html
Also if you migrated from a PowerPC mac, that may be the source of kernel panics.

  • Really imovie HD6 DOES not work with snow leopard

I was planning on buying a new computer a mac pro quad
Does imovie HD 6 work on the new OS?
    please help
    thanks
    scott

"..Does iMovie 06 use QuickTime?.." ..I understand that iMovie uses some elements of QuickTime for display, for transitions, etc. (..Maybe you don't remember that until QuickTime was altered, a while ago, you could specify the duration of a transition in PAL in iMovie, but the timing matched only NTSC frame rates..)
"..I have QuickTime Pro 7.6.4 for OS 10.5.." ..I had - still have - QuickTime Pro 7.6.3 for 10.5 (Leopard), but I chose to keep that while installing 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
"..Should I back it up somehow?.." ..erm; d'you mean Backup using Retrospect or Time Machine, or d'you mean 'back up' as in revert to an earlier version? I'd think 7.6.4 is perfectly OK, and I always Backup to a separate disc before doing a big installation (..e.g; Snow Leopard).
"..I thought that 10.6 included QuickTime X, and deleted the older QuickTime.." ..It does include QuickTime X, but at installation it offers you the opportunity to keep your older QuickTime version, too. It doesn't necessarily delete the older QuickTime.
"..So it looks like iMovie 06 and 10.6 are "Good", but is the compatibility of QuickTime X also an issue here?.." ..Dunno. No compatibility problems seem to have arisen for me, but then I haven't used iMHD6 a lot since upgrading to 10.6. I notice you've posted repeated queries about whether still clips continue to play properly in iMHD6 with 10.6 ..I've had no problems with still clips: they run for the correct duration, and accept transitions before and after, etc. Maybe I have no compatibility problems because I still have QT7. Both of them - QT7 and QT X - work happily along with each other, and both can be open simultaneously.
"..(I STILL hope for a iMovie 06 upgrade someday.).." ..I don't think that day's gonna come. Steve looks forward, not back.

  • Titles and Transitions doe not work after upgrading to Snow Leopard

I can not get my Titles or transitions to work in iMovie any more after upgrading to Snow Leopard.
Everything goes to a black screen. I am having problems with final cut express also. Anyone have an idea when there will be a patch to fix this? I would hate to have to down grade.

Holy *&$^, no kidding. I mean this is bad. I can't really do anything on iMovie at all. I really hope there is a simple solution to this, b/c if this really is part of a bad release, Apple will not hear the end of it.

  • Problem with Snow Leopard and imovie

After spending hours putting together a movie in imovie, I cannot share it to media browser nor any of the other options listed under the "share" button. All the titles and transitions play in the project window, but will not play full screen. Any suggestions?

A "clean install", by definition, wipes everything already on your hard disc - including the previous version of QuickTime.
Snow Leopard includes a new version of QuickTime called QuickTime X.
You may find that putting back the previous QuickTime 7 lets everything run properly (QT 7 and QT X can both live happily side-by-side on the same Mac under Snow Leopard).
During an upgrade installation, instead of a clean install, SL may offer to leave QuickTime 7 on your Mac instead of wiping it; on a clean install it'll be wiped clean away.
QT 7 for Leopard is still available here, but whether it neatly installs after you've applied Snow Leopard, I don't know; you'd have to test that yourself.

  • Titles not working, Exports lag with Snow Leopard Update. PLEASE HELP!

I just installed Snow Leopard yesterday and it installed very cleanly. Afterwards, I went and opened up iMovie '09 and everything was working smoothly except for the titles. In both the preview box and the projects, all the titles and effects were either all black, or had black boxes all around them. Also, when trying to export a video to Youtube regarding my problem, I looked at the video and for the first time ever, the audio and video were not in sync. Is this Snow Leopard's fault? I have tried everything I can think of but nothing is solving either problem. If ANYBODY can help with either problem PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out! Also, if anybody is experiencing the same problem, please let me know. Thank you very very much.

I'm having the same problem. In addition to the titles doing the exact same thing you described, the titles in the globe/map also have a black box, and some of the transitions don't work properly. I called Apple Care last Friday, and spoke to 2 people. We were not able to resolve my issue. I tried deleting and reinstalling iMovie, removing the preferences, reinstalling snow leopard, creating another user account, and a bunch of other stuff. I did receive a case number, so as soon as I find out more information I can let you know. I am not having any problems on my other computer, so I guess it's a computer specific problem.

  • IMovie HD and Snow Leopard

I have version 6.0.4 of HD and Snow Leopard, but they don't work together when I try to combine HD and IM 11. Anyone found a way to do it? Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I try to combine HD and IM 11
    They doesn't.
You can have both in working order on the same Mac - but they do not communicate else than
via XML-files = Raw material can be moved over but no project can be shared to be compleated
    in the other application.
Only via QuickTime .mov file the movie with text and transitions can be moved but then in
    a NON-editable version.
iMovie 1 to HD6 is one Application serie
iMovie'08 to 11 - a totally different product - *wrongly named as iMovie* - no code is the same.
    Yours Bengt W

  • IMovie won't open after downgrading from Lion to Snow Leopard

Okay iMovie 08' and 11' both worked absoloutly fine on my MacBook Pro (17" Core 2 Duo 2009 model) when I had Snow Leopard installed.
I then upgraded to Lion and iMovie 11' still worked fine but Lion had a lot of bugs so I decided to wipe and install Snow Leopard again. I then used the Migration Assistant to move my Apps from a Time Machine backup to my Mac. Everything worked okay except Java was broken. Everytime I launched a Java application it would say Java 1.5 not found. I managed to fix this with a lot of Googling.
But now I've come across another issue. I noticed that iWeb, iPhoto and iMovie will not open. The icons bounce in the dock and then they finish bouncing and it appears to have loaded, the top menubar says the application name and I can click on File, Edit from the top menu and all the normal options are presented to me. But the main interface of these programs simply does not open. I managed to fix iPhoto by reading online about removing a folder called ProKit.Framework in my Library and that worked for iPhoto perfectly it now comes up and loads like normal. But iWeb and iMovie still do not load. I don't really care about iWeb but I do care about iMovie not working as I use that all the time.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this?
    So far what I've tried:
    1. Remove all traces of anything iLife releated on my Hard Disk including pkg receipts, cache files, .pref files and so on
    2. Tried just reinstalling the entire iLife suite several times
    3. Tried installing Quicktime 7 from the Snow Leopard Optional Installs DVD
    4. Tried changing colour profiles on my Display (I read this worked for someone else, did nothing for me)
    5. Made a new user account on my Mac and tried to run iMovie from that account, same result it 'runs' but the interface doesn't show up.
Thanks for any help you can provide

I just thought I'd reply to say that I just fixed this by deleting the following folder and afterwards running software update.
    iLifeMediaBrowser in /Library/Application Support
It would appear that if you erase this folder and then reinstall iLife it does something that brings this folder back or recreates it. But if you run Software update after erasing it, it downloads this folder from Apple (about 2.5MB) and that fixes the problem completely.
    Hope this helps someone else!

  • Installation Options for iMovie HD on Snow Leopard system with iLife '09

Greetings and thank-you for contributing suggestions on what is a well worn subject. I have read many of the posts existing on this topic and am trying to nip some details.
I have a late 2006 iMac that came with Tiger and iMovie HD which is now at version 6.0.3. When I upgraded to Snow Leopard (Boxed Set) I got iLife 09 but, as it was supposed to do, it left me iMovie HD which is what I have used. I have both sets of installation DVD's. (from the iMac and the SL upgrade)
Today I got a new MacMini and am plotting how to get iMovie HD on it.
I gather that I first need to remove iMovie 09 from the Mini. I do that by dragging its application bundle in finder to the trash and removing any receipt packages.
Do I have to remove all of the iLife 09 applications or just iMovie 09?
Then, I reinstall either all of iLife 06 from the iMac DVD or just iMovie HD. After that I can load iLife 09 from the SL DVD. That will leave the iMovie HD on the system but upgrade everything else.
Should I run software update from iMovie HD to try to get the 6.0.3 version or download and run the upgrade image? Does it matter?
I am good to go. Did I miss anything?
I also have a SuperDuper clone of the iMac system. Another possibility is to boot from that and clone it to the new Mini. Does anyone think this is a better idea?
Thanks again for the insights of your experience.

I think the issue is that if you install iMovie 06 on a system with iMovie 09 installed, iMovie 6 has no knowledge that iMovie 09 exists. Therefore iMovie 6 installs itself in the iMovie folder in the Applications Folder and assumes anything in there is old and can be trashed.
Apple fixed this with iMovie 6.04, but this is no longer available.
But if you install iMovie 6 first, and iMovie 9 second, iMovie 9 knows about iMovie 6 and will move it to a folder called "iMovie - Previous Versions".
In your case, I would uninstall iMovie 09 as you started to do, then run the migration assistant, then reinstall iMovie 09.
It should also work to create a folder on your old system called "iMovie - Previous Versions". Drag the iMovie 6 app into this folder and verify that it works. Then do the Migration Assistant. This should work, but I hesitate to recommend it because I have not tested it. Best case, it installs and you did not even have to uninstall iMovie 09. Worst case, delete the iMovie folder and reinstall iMovie 09.
For what its worth, I recently did a Migration Assistant from a SuperDuper clone (after a failed hard disk) that had both iMovie 09 and iMovie 6 installed, and it worked fine. But I have not tried your scenario.
I would use Migration Assistant because then you have the correct version of Snow Leopard for your system. You may not if you use a clone. A new machine may have microcode that is not released to the general release of OSX for several months. If your Mini is a used one and at least 6 months old, a clone should work OK.
