  • Hi, I have a Lenovo 3000 n100 that does not recognize the dvd player or SD memory card slot

Hi, this is my first time on here so forgive me if I don't give all of the right information, I will try.  Until about a month ago my dvd player and SD memory card slot worked fine.  I was attempting to download pictures from the SD memory card to my laptop when for some reason it not only stopped reading the memory card but it erased it also.  I tried to watch a movie on it to see if it was working and it is not.  I checked the computer to see if I could manually turn it on and neither the memory card slot or the dvd player show up at all.  Is this a driver problem and if so how do I fix it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Linda

I have struggled with the same thing, until about 1/2 hour ago....And its real simple.  I'm not a techy but here's what worked for me.
Since Lenovo doesn't send boot discs you are going to have to create one.  I went to http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm and downloaded the trial version - good for 10 days.  If this works for you then you should buy the software (that goes w/o saying).
Once loaded to your machine you will need to create a DVD (CD may work as well, all I had was DVD's handy).  Just lauch the application and it will do this for you.
Then you need to insert the DVD/CD into your player and restart the machine.
Once lauched the Software will lauch the Active@ Boot Disk menu.  One of the options (going from memory here) was to give you a windows prompt.  I simply typed c: and took me to the C drive.  Then I typed chkdsk /f c:
I was then told my c drive was locked (sounds familiar I bet) but this time I was given the option to dismount the volume which I did.  And it finally ran chkdsk, found and corrected all errors.
I rebooted my machine, launched diskeeper,  and guess what - I can finally defrag my harddrive now which is sorely overdue!
Good luck.  I hope this works for you!

  • Lenovo 3000 N100 Network issue / Wireless Stack initialization failed, error code 117

    Hi,
Lenovo 3000 N1000 with 1GB Ram, Win XP SP2, purchased in May 2006. WLAN network with WPA-PSK key worked without any issues so far and is still accessible with PC.
After transferring music via from my notebook to my mobile Bluetooth all network adapters seem to be disconnected. Neither Access Connections (AC) nor Windows can find any wireless network. Also if I try to configure any LAN, WLAN with Windows I get the message that all network adapters have been removed. However I cannot spot any issue in the device manager as all parts are shown to be working OK.
This is what I've done so far:
    1) Checked Radio switch ---> on
    2) FN +F5 --> connection on
    3) Uninstalled AC, downloaded and installed most actual version (5.00 Build 7VCX32WW)
    4) Installed new version for wireless driver for Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (version 12.0.0.82)
Still, even if I uninstall AC to check if WLAN is working at all, Windows gives the error message that all network components have been removed.
Diagnose Tool gives the following output:
"Wireless Stack initialization failed, error code 117"
    Logfile:
    Description : Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
    Type : Wireless LAN Adapter
    DriverVersion : 10. 5. 1. 59 ----> why is the old driver version??????????
    PNPID : PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4227&SUBSYS_10118086
    SupplicantVersion : AEGIS Protocol (IEEE 802.1x) v3.5.3.0
ERROR AcSvc( SYSTEM(Prvlg).1108.4580) [9/3]11:04:15:703 CAcGolan::GetRadioStateInDriver: Golan API GetRadioState() missing!
Hope this is enough information for anyone of you in order to suggest any solution. As I could see from previous threads some of you experienced similar problems in the past and could fix them somehow. However I couldn't find anyone with exactly the same problem.
Thanks much in advance for any advice you might have.

    Hi
I have this problem also with my Lenovo 3000 V200.
Sometimes when I boot up the PC it will connect to the network and everything works just fine.
At other times, after boot, the "wireless stack initialization failed, error code: 118" problem occurs
and the only way to solve it seems to be a PC restart. Nothing else I do will bring the network up.
If I study the Networking tab in Task Manager it indicates that no adapters are available (wired eth.
access also fails). At a few occations connectivity have failed alltogether (i.e. a reboot have not solved
the problem). Last time this occured I had to reinstall the complete system (from a previous backup)
    to get networking up.
I have tried different versions of Access Connections (5.02, 5.12, 5.21) and the same problem occurs
at seemingly random instances in time. This is obviosly a problem with the Access Connections software
since the Wireless networking works fine when I let windows manage it...
    Anyone with a fix?
    /Fredrik

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 A42 not booting anymore

    Hi,
We have a Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 A42 that is not booting anymore. Concretely, when the on/off button is pressed, the fan goes on for a few seconds, the HD led is switched on and the CDrom is running for a few second too, then nothing else, except the "On" led that remains switched on...
I tried this: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Value-line/Help-How-to-reset-CMOS-on-3000-N200-model-076... to no avail.
I removed the keyboard and unplugged for one minute the only plug I found with red and black wires, to no avail either...
The computer seems dead... Any suggestion to reanimate it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pierre

    Hi, Thank for the reply.
There is nothing displayed on the screen and no access to the Bios.
I did tried to reset the motherboard after having removed the AC power, the battery, the HD and the RAM (by short cutting two exposed metal traces labelled CLRP1 and by unplugging the battery cable found behind the keyboard. To no avail...
I realize that the url given in my first post does not work. Here it is:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Value-line/Help-How-to-reset-CMOS-on-3000-N200-model-076...
Thanks again for the suggestion. Any other?

  • What would cause an IMAC to recognize one printer on a wireless network and not recognize another printer?

What would cause an IMAC to recognize one printer on a wireless network and not another printer?  I have a smaller HP and a an HP 4600.  The computer recognizes the smaller printer but not the bigger printer even though the printer in Settings and shows up on Settings, but I cannot print to it.

Do you have a printer driver installed for it? When you open the Print dialog have you selected it from the Printer dropdown menu at the top of the dialog?
Do you know that the printer is working and is properly installed (Added?)

  • Installing hp laserjet 4200dtn on wired network - will not recognize on network (win 7)

I am trying to install a laserjet 4200dtn on a win 7, XP network in small home office. can't get network to recognize the printer. it will install and show up but never prints.

I would suggest cancelling the installation and then download the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools.  The tools there may help diagnose system issues, if nothing is found I would suggest running the driver wizard. Depending on your country the warranty would typically be one year from date of purchase.  Likely if you were charged (or an attempt made to charge you) for support on a new printer you were not contacting HP.  Unfortunately an internet search for "HP Support" will turn up a number of locations that may pretend to be HP but are not.  The diagnosis there is typically "you have malware or a virus, we can fix that but it will cost $149" (or perhaps $349 for a lifetime).  I once gave one of these folks access to a dummy test machine, after an hour accessing my system and suggesting various fixes I made it clear that I would not be buying anything from them.  At this point they attempted to encrypt my system drive (after warning me that if I did not buy their product my system would likely be unusable).  Fortunately the system was set up to require an admin password to install programs or do "bad" things.... If you need to contact HP start at the link here: http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

  • Does GPIB-USB-B controller not recognize device Aliases in Instrument I/O Asst express VI ?

    Hi everyone,
I'm currently having problems with my device. I'm trying to communicate with the instrument simulator through the Instrument I/O express VI but the device alias I designated wasn't being recognized. After selecting the Alias from the pulldown menu and tried the "query and parse" command, there was no response. The "write" and the "read" commands also did not work. I'm suspecting that the problem is from my GPIB-USB controller card. I have the GPIB-USB-B controller. It recognizes only the instrument descriptor but not the alias. My NI 488.2 is of the 2.46 version and NI VISA is v4.2. I think everthing was configured correctly but the card might be the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?. Is there some kind of driver upgrade that could help rectify it.
    Thanks

Aliases have nothing to do with GPIB controllers and their software though if you cannot communicate to the instrument in MAX, then there might be problem with either one. Aliases are part of VISA. You can try upgrading to 4.5. Also search your entire pc for a file called visaconf.ini. Post back with the location and whether you found more than one instance. You can also try deleting the file and then go into MAX and do a refresh. You will have to recreate all aliases.
I am confused about something. Are you saying that if you use something like GPIB0::address::INSTR, communication works just fine but the exact same command with an alias does not work? If that's the case, there is nothing wrong with the GPIB controller. If that is not what you mean, then what does it mean when you say 'it only the instrument descriptor'? Another test of the gPIB controller is to use MAX to communicate with the instrument. Do not select VISA for communication. Just right click on it in MAX. This does not use VISA at all and if it works, then the controller and software are just fine.

  • Network does not recognize WEP password

I have a Zyxel ADSL WLAN router which was previously working fine via my airport express. Recently logged on, the airport express connection was gone.
Although airport express does see the network, trying to reconnect has been not been successful, since the password is not accepted despite previous storage in the keys.
Using my Dell the same password is remembered by the router. I am kinda puzzled now...and would appreciate a hint.
    Tincup

I have this issue too.  We have just changed our router on our home network.  Same parameters, 5 devices connect without problem, given the WEP key.  Iphone appears not to forget the old network to enable us to put in new parameters.  In Settings/WIFI NETWORK, I choose my WIFI setting using the arrow on right hand side.  This brings up the advanced setting for this network and at the top of the screen should appear the option 'Forget network' - it doesn't appear.
Back on the Wifi network screen, I touch the network name - goes through a screen asking to enter password.  I enter the WEP key, but it is rejected (worked for my MacBook)
Disabling the wifi security doesn't help.
Hope the extra info helps and would much appreciate it to let me know if there is a solution.

  • Network does not recognize macbook name

my home network is a combination of one macbook ,2 vista home premiums and one xp.
The internet service comes from comcast ,which is a cable modem and then goes to airport extreme and then wirelessly covers the network at home.Going online and browsing the web is no problem for any of the computers, but i have some other problems.
1-network advertises my macbook not by its name ,rather by some wierd MAC address ,00:23:6c:8A:90:57,and for this reason i can not connect to any of its shared files because is not known to the network and no pc is able to access it .from mac side i can access pc files(they show in finder).
2-The documentation of remote login or screen sharing says if i want to connect to my mac from a pc then i need to type "mike-macbook.local." and it will connect or type vnc://ip address or the worst case just type macintosh.local and it will connect ,but none of the above scenarios work as far as screen sharing is concern.
I know leopard is coming with its built in vnc server and if you have a vnc viewer installed on a pc (ihave real vnc on my pc's) then you can remote desktop and interact ,but still nothing.could you tell me what i am doing wrong and how can i fix this problem.thanks in advance.
    mike

After connecting an HP C7063A printer directly to the Express via USB and trying to add the printer via "Printers & Scanners" under System Preferences, it does not show up as an available option.
This would normally indicate that HP has not provided network drivers that would allow the printer to function from a network USB connection.
Check with HP Support to see if they might have a printer driver that you could download and install that might work. I doubt that HP has provided drivers for Mavericks (10.9.x), and possibly Mountain Lion (10.8.x), for the printer, but you never know until you ask.
Would it make a difference if the printer was connected to the Time Capsule instead of the Express?
I would be surprised if it made any difference, but it could not hurt to try.
If the printer has an Ethernet connection, you could connect to an Ethernet port on the AirPort Express.

  • IMac G5 not connecting to my wi-fi network and not recognize password

I have friends and family that come to my home with different computers, give them password and connect to my wi-fi network perfectly. Now I have an iMac G5 model 1058, 1.8 Ghz with an airport express card. Try to connect to Internet, write the correct password and tells me that an error occurred. My wi-fi network was set up on my Mac Pro 1,1. Even a Mac power G4 laptop connects flawlessly to my network from first moment. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate very much.
    Thanks Apple family.
    You are the greatest.
    Beltran

I'm writing this reply to myself, just in case someone encounters the same problem. I open my Mac Pro, open Airport Utility, click on the image of the Airport Express and click on edit. In the following window click on the bar Wireless, and in the line Wireless Security, changed WPA2 Personal, for WPA/WPA2 Personal. I had noted that the iMac being an older machine didn't have WPA2 Personal, only WPA. After I changed the setting went to the iMac connected to my network, enter the password that never before accepted, and everything is running perfectly now.
Thank you for the 24 views that I have at this point and if is of any help to anyone my solution found just applying common sense, makes me happy.
    Thank you all.
