Sorry i posted dis twice

Use one of the OTA .zip files and copy it to an external SD card.  Then boot your a1 like your doing an update with the power button vol + button and it will find the update.zip file on the external SD card. I used the latest .zip file and then renamed it to update.zip  2643 US file  I had to use my laptop to put the .zip file on my SD card because of course my A1 wasn't working after installing the ICS_OTA.

  • [e330] wont boot without external power

My lenovo e330 started having problems with HDD.
Most of the time when trying boot without PSU connected got windows error saying "A disk read error press alt ctrl del to restart"
Also when working without PSU on low level of battery it tends to crash with BSOD sayin it can't store memery dump becouse of disk error.
Smart show CRC udma erorr count almost 4000.

Boot the "old white MB" from the external, and double-check the version of OSX on it. Make sure it's not earlier than the version that came with the MBP. Check the MBP's DVD, or plug it's serial number in here: http://www.appleserialnumberinfo.com/Desktop/index.php
If it's newer, while it should boot the MBP, it's possible it won't in some cases. See: [Mac OS X v10.6: Issues after restoring a Mac from a Time Machine backup made with a different Mac|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3243]. While that's talking specifically about a Time Machine restore, the issue is the same.
You might be better off putting a copy of the latest Retail Install disc you have (as long as it isn't earlier than what the MBP came with) on your "repair drive," instead of an installation of OSX. Just restore it from the DVD via Disk Utility.

  • Z77A-GD65 Wont Boot Without Clearing CMOS. Gets Error 32.

    Hi!
    I just switched GPU from 2x 7950 to 980.
I cleared drivers etc etc and was powering down my pc for the replacement. took out the cards and put in the 980.
When i later was trying to boot, i got debug error 32, which is early cpu initialization. So i checked all the cables and tried again. Same thing.
Took everything out and reinserted it again. Same error. even tried the to take out each ram to see. Still nothing.
I later cleared cmos and the computer booted. but then when i restart i doesnt boot until power everything down and clear cmos again.
Do you guys have any idea?
    My specs are
    Z77A-GD65
2500k CPU (Now after clearing CMOS at stock speed)

Tryreplacing battery. Also could try to run it with single Ram stick and outside of the case.
I Couldn't wait so i went to town and bought me a battery, didn't change anything.
I've tried running a single RAM in each slot, just to try. no change there. Still error 32.
I've also test it outside the case now and still no difference.
Otherwise i've noticed i can boot if i press the reset button exact when debug code 55 shows. It's really weird. doing this way all bios settings are still there and i can test my pc with OC. I've played Dying Light on it this way with no problem at all. except this annoying code 32 who reappers everytime i restart my computer and hinders it to boot...
EDIT: Also sometimes (very rare), it starts at first boot.

  • B570 wont boot recovery key and f11 wont work.

Hello everyone I'm new here, I've had my B570 for over a year now with no problems what so ever, until last night my computer completely  froze and I was forced to power it down using the power button. I powered it back up and an error came on. It' said it was an unexpected error I/O error and it said something about a usb not being unplugged right, but a usb was never plugged into my laptop. So I was trying different boot options but none were working , I tried pressing f8 to do a safe reboot but f8 was not working. So I tried doing a factory reset by pressing f11 and nothing happened, I even tried plugging in a usb keyboard and once again nothing happened. Than I tried using the recovery key when the computer was turned off and it started up but it just would go straight to the error message. Anyone have any advice?

    Hi mrhoppp,
Thank you for posting and Welcome to Lenovo Community,
I’d like to ask you to turn off the machine and then turn on and during the boot please keep pressing on F2 to enter BIOS (setup utility) and then please make sure that the Hard Disk Drive is detected and then press on F9 to get the BIOS to default settings and then press on F10 to save and Exit,
After that please try the recovery one more time by connecting the charger and the battery and then press on the OKR recovery button and then select one key recovery if the error didn’t come up again with you and then restore from initial backup.
Hope the information helps. Let us know.
    Regards
    Soha

  • Itunes wont open without quicktime and quicktime wont work or uninstall

I have windows 7 and itunes and windows 7 have been working great for over 5 months but just recently itunes stopped working. i cannot open itunes and i cannot download the most recent version because i says that it needs quicktime. Quicktime is installed on my computer. in fact i can't get quicktime uninstalled. i can download previous versions of itunes and install them but they wont open. i've tried following posted suggestions of uninstalling with the windows uninstall clean up but when i reinstall it still wont work. i've tried the thing were someone said to delete all my temp files except there is one file that won't delete : FXSAPIDebugLogFile.txt and i can't stop it to delete it cause i don't know what it is. What the hooch happened and how can i get my itunes back???

I FIXED IT. Ok so I don't know if this will work for everyone but this is what i did. First i made sure I uninstalled all apple thingy's in the control panel uninstall then downloaded the lastest version of itunes install before i installed it i did a search for all quicktime thingy's (i know i'm not all technicall about it) on c:drive and went through and deleted them it gave me a small problem by not showing that they were deleting but i transferred them to the trash bin and deleted it all. then i started the itunes install and let it go (of course giving it wishfull hopefull thoughts) it opened and is working great so far. So before your go through the other stuff if the problem with the new itunes is that the quicktime wont install do this first.

  • Make OSX SD/USB bootable lock, i.e., make Mac unable to boot without SD card.

    Hello!
I'm trying to find a way to make my Macbook unable to boot without an external media to initialize the computer. Or at least a way to remove the harddrives from the listed boot options by hitting the option/alt key on bootup. I want to remove those options and force the computer to boot off the removable media. Is this possible, or has it been attempted?

The boot disk is specified in System Preferences>Startup Disk
What do you see when you boot to recovery and look at the startup disk and look at the disk(s) in disk utility?

  • Imac wont boot after long time without restart

    Hi
I've got a two month old new Imac 21,5" with fusion drive 1TB, i had it just before mavericks was launched..
i update to mavericks. All was fine, But i allmost never shut down, or restart the imac.
After some time, I did for a reason i dont remember, had to restart the imac. while booting, it was stuck on the grey screen.. i wasn't able to get it started up, not in safe mode, not after disk repair.. i think i might have tried all the little tricks to get it running again...
luckily i did have a time machine back up...
after installing this back up, everything was fine again..
until 2 weeks later, for some reason i had to reboot again.. and again, it was stuck.. only thing to get the imac working again.. reinstall from time machine back up
after this , it tried rebooting everyday, and the imac kept working..
after a few days, i forgot to reboot for a few days.. and what did you think.. the imac is stuk again.. so while reinstalling the time machine back up. I am writing this. anyone else having this rather strange problem.. if i restart the imac now and then i keeps working.. if i dont after a few days, and i do reboot the imac.. is wont boot anymore..
    Any suggestions are welcome
    greetings

The long tone is an indication that a firmware update is installing. Do you get a progress bar at the bottom of you screen after letting the power button go?
Have you reset the PRAM? (cmdalt+PR when you restart the machine)
Also repair permissions when the machine is up and running.

  • Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from USB or DVD

My new toshiba Satellite C50-A634 wont boot from usb, or dvd ,
i have downloaded win 8.1 and burn image to dvd but i still get an error message "no bootable device......please restart system" .
    Can some one plz help?

    Hi
Does Satellite C50-A634 supports internal CD/DVD drive or did you try to boot from external optical disk drive?
You have to know that _Satellite C50 & Satellite C50D models *without* a built-in ODD_ are not able to boot from an external ODD due to a technical limitation.
    Details here:
[Limitation of external boot media for Satellite, Satellite Pro C50 & C50D devices|http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB3B03JA0000R01.htm]
Only USB flash drives are supported as external boot devices!
It is necessary you can use a USB flash drive as recovery media on notebooks without a built-in ODD.

  • Is there a way to transfer files from a hard drive that wont boot up?

my hard drive wont boot up. even when i try to reinstall it says that it cant be reinstalled on the drive, is there a way to get the files off before i wipe it clean? (assuming i can even do that)

If the MacBook has a Firewire port then you could connect it to another Mac with Firewire and use Target Disk Mode to access the drive and transfer files assuming the drive is accessible. Or if you don't have Firewire ports then you can remove the drive, install it in an external enclosure, connect it to another Mac and transfer data if the drive is accessible.
If neither of the above are feasible then you can try using recovery software. Recovery software comes on bootable discs, but you will need an external drive to which the recovered files can be saved.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten with recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

  • PC wont boot up after installing playbook via USB

Well. This morning I connected for the first time the Bb Playbook to my Dell M1730 Vista Laptop. I had already preinstalled the Bb desktop software to my PC. As soon as I connected my Playbook via USB, the computer detected it and proceeded to "install drivers" on the lower right side of the desktop next to where the clock is. It then booted up the Bb Desktop software which asked me to restart computer. I did, my computer did not boot up, lights came on but the screen never showed me anything. My Playbook which was still connected to the PC showed a screen that says: Installing Drivers. It shows a Monitor to the left and the playbook sign on the right with arrows between them. However I see nothing telling me its working on something, no % or status bar. Further more it tells me to open up the driver installation on my PC if it hasnt opened it yet. But my comp continues to show nothing. I disconected the Bb and tried to turn on comp again, now it does the same with or without thr blackberry plugged, it just stays there lights on but no screen or sounds. Only diff between when the Bb is attached or not is that the Bb automatically shows the screen previously described. I waited 20 min to see if it was really installing something but nothing happens.
    Help? Thanks!!

  • 440s wont boot up

just took delivery of brand new 440 s and it wont boot up , all i get is a blinking light , tried holding start  button for  40 seconds without battery and power connected ,still the same wont boot any ideas ??

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your Lenovo ThinkPad T440s is not booting up.
Remove the RAM, power it up and check if you hear beep sounds.  Reinstall the RAM, startup normally and check if the system boots normally.
If you have a spare good known battery and adapter, try powering on the system using the same just to ensure that it’s not a battery/adapter failure.
Please let me know the happenings!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • MBP i7 17" wont boot from external CD/DVD

I have installed a second hardrive in my mbp using the optibay. Since then ive been trying to install windows on the second harddrive, but it wont boot from the windows cd. After some testing, it turns out it wont boot -any- cd from an external cd/dvd drive.
When i put in a bootable cd and boot with the option key, it does recognize the cd. When i select it, it starts spinning up, stops, and i get a grey screen with an flashing apple/failed sign.
I have already tried the following:
    - Reset PRAM
    - Use the superdrive i removed as USB cd/dvd drive
    - Use a different USB cd/dvd drive
    - Tried to boot off a bootable USB memory stick
    - Installed rEFIt boot loader.
    - Tried the (USB) superdrive on a previous model 15" MBP, and it boots without problems.
Im at a loss what else i can try. OS X installed perfectly when the superdrive was still connected to the internal SATA connector, but i dont feel like switching the whole thing back. Not to mention i wont be able to install windows on the secondary drive.
Maybe i could try an ExpressCard SATA controller? Or would that be a waste of time/money? Im also considering installing through target disk mode, but im afraid ill run into all kinds of trouble.
I hope you'll have some ideas!

I think can wrap this up.
The OS X Installer that came with my MBP did work on the external USB superdrive. So it appears the same thing applies for any USB connected device: only OSX installer will boot from it.
As for my initial booting needs: i have successfully installed Windows using bootcamp, though i used a workaround so i didn't have to boot from cd. For anyone who wanders around here and wants to know:
    - Created a 10GB VMWare disk image for Windows
    - Booted windows install disk inside VMWare
    - Upon first reboot i shut down the virtual machine
    - Connected the 10GB VMWare disk image to a Debian virtual machine
    - Ripped mbr using: dd if=/dev/sdb bs=1 count=446 > mbr
    - Copied it to my mac, and installed it to my drive using: fdisk -u -f mbr /dev/rdisk1
    - Copied over the VMWare disk image to my Bootcamp Assistent created partition using: dd if=/dev/sdb1 | ssh root@mymac "dd of=/dev/disk1s3"
    - Used WinClone to make an image of my Bootcamp partition, and immediately restored it. This fixes some windows issues for the new partition, and resizes it to fit your bootcam partition
    - Reboot into windows and the install will continue!
Some tweaking of these commands are needed. If you don't know what you're doing: don't.
Any questions, feel free to contact me.

  • How to undo boot camp, wont boot from install disk in dvd drive

A few months ago I went through trying out boot camp and parallels. Now, I think something is messed up. I dont need either right now, so I just want to wipe out the whole system, repartition the drive, and restore to a blank new install of os x 10.5 leopard.
But when I put in the install disk, it wont boot up off it.
I tried holding down the c key while powering it up, and it just cycles through: hearing the drive whirl, a bling sound, and then repeating it again while the screen is blank. Finally, I held down the click button on the touch pad so it would eject the install disk.
Maybe this will help someone recognize part of the problem. Ever since messing around with boot camp and parallels, my machine wont "reboot". To reboot it, I tell it to reboot, then it hangs on the star like screen, then I have to hold the power button down, then if I do nothing, it tries to boot, but ends up in a dos looking screen saying no bootable device. So when I power it back up, I hold down the alt key, and then I have one choice: the hard drive. I pick that and it boots up ok.
So... I thought, well, maybe the boot camp is still messed up; maybe I should undo boot camp. When I start the boot camp assistant, there is only a "partition" and "back" button; nothing to "restore" the hard drive to just one partition.
What can I do? I want to wipe the drive and install a fresh install from my install disk.

    Forgot to specify:
Im using an older Unibody Macbook (back when they were not all macbook pro's) 2008ish with Snow leopard 1.6.8

  • G4 MDD wont boot past logo, or to cd. Please help!

The power was cut as I was deleting my shared folder which had about 13gb worth of data on it. The process had just started. I tried to boot back up I hear the chime and then it goes to the apple logo then the whole thing just shuts down after a few minutes with the spinning icon. Things I have tried:
I tried the commandalt+OF then typed in "eject cd" to open the bay door. I put in the protection plan cd that said it had the tech tools software on it. I then reset the pram with the commandalt+PR and then tried to boot from the cd by holding down c. It does the same thing and never boots though I do hear the hd and the cd drive spinning up.
Tried holding down shift for safe mode. Same thing happens.
Tried holding down alt to boot from available partitions. I got the macintosh hd as an option but then when selecting it then continuing the same shut down happens after a few minutes with the apple logo.
I tried running fsck using some keystrokes found on other forums. I had the black dos-like interface (which i cannot figure out how to get back into as I am a newb with such things) in which I typed in fsck. I got an error about missing sibling link with numbers listed afterwards. I can try to get back into this screen with a bit more instruction on how I did it if the information would be helpful.
The computer has 2 hard drives in it. One of which was used as a secondary. It is a 40 gb maxtor that was partitioned into 2 drives because i couldnt format it correctly. I have unplugged that. It had an aircard that I removed. It had dvd rw drives one of which only reads. I unplugged the shifty one and left the good one in which is a pioneer 109D. My superdrive gave out long ago.
I have unfortunately not kept a very good backup and my life is on this computer. If this turns out to be an hd issue would it be possible to install osx on another hd and then pull files off of the bad one? I hope it is not an hd issue though. Please let me know of any further steps I can try and if there is any other information that would be helpful. The info on this pc is my livelihood. I thank you in advance.

I suggest you try to isolate the cause of the problem. I would start by disconnecting the hard drives - data and power cables, and then try booting from a bootable CD. If you can boot this way, it would show the problem is being caused by one of the drives. My guess is that is where the issue lies. This experience you report Tried holding down alt to boot from available partitions. I got the macintosh hd as an option but then when selecting it then continuing the same shut down happens after a few minutes with the apple logo suggests the computer itself is okay but cannot find an OS from which to boot.
The next thing, assuming you can boot without the drives present, would be to install the problem drive in a different computer, as the secondary drive. (This assumes of course that you have access to another Mac.) If that works you may be able to run an utility like Disk Warrior or TechTool Pro to address the sick drive.
Your plan to install an OS on a different drive is a good one, and what I have suggested above is a variant that would avoid buying another drive. If you do go that route, install a minimum OS on a new drive, and install the utility there as well. Test that you can boot from the new drive and work on the computer, before you install the bad drive.
In either case you will need a powerful utility. Both Disk Warrior and TTP are capable of fixing the type of problem you have.
    Good luck.
