    Hi, I have internet speed problem.
    When I connect to internet from my PC - speed is more than 90  Mbps, but when I use my router - about 45 Mbps.
    What the problem?

    Are there any other devices connected to the router? Any new devices you did not have connected to your Linksys/Cisco router? Are you running the default configuration on the router? Check the computer if you are running Windows update on the back ground. If it is running then try to disable it temporarily. Here is the link for how to disable it: http://www.techtalkz.com/windows-7/515869-windows-update-enable-disable-automatic-updates-windows-7-...
    As far as wireless is concern try the following settings:
    # Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Gateway setup page.
    # Make the Channel Width to 20MHz only and select the Channel to 1, 3, 6, 9, 11..
    #Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
    ~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 75
    ~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
    ~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2307
    Then check the connectivity status.

  • Internet Speed Problem

    {edited for privacy}. Because the internet speed in the restorant is so slow, we called the verizon support center but it took us more than 1 hr to get a contact and we still have failed have contact with them. If anyone from Verizon company is reading this, please hear our voice mail that we left. We are usually free around 3 pm, please call us. Thank You.

    Step one: Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that your non-bogan public IP Address will show up.  It might shown up as the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace)  might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Either remove that line or show only the first two octets. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.
    For example this what I saw when I was using Verizon
        news.giganews.com
        traceroute to 71.242.*.* (71.242.*.*), 30 hops max, 60 byte packets

    Step two: Can you provide the Transceiver Statistics from your modem?
    #3 If you don't know how to get that info:
    a) What is the brand and model of your modem?
    b) If you have a RJ-45 WAN port router connected to it: What is the brand and model of the RJ-45 WAN port router?
    #4 If you have a RJ-45 WAN port router connected to the modem, even if you know how to get the Transceiver Statistics from the modem: What is the brand and model of the RJ-45 WAN port router?

  • E3200 internet speed problem

    I've just replace my router from WRT320 to E3200, because I've upgrade my internet speed from 100M to 300M.
    But the speed test just show about 90M when using E3200, but if I plug direct without using E3200, the speed is up to 280M. For the firmware, I've tried 1.0.01, 1.0.02 and 1.0.03 aswell. Did anyone got a solution on that?

    If you can change the Ethernet cable through which you are connecting the computer.. As well as update the drivers of the LAN card. For updating the drivers of the LAN card follow the steps:
    # Click on Start --> on the search box type "devmgmt.msc" and click Ok...
    # Device manager window will appear and in that check for the Wired adapter.. Right-click on the name of the Adapter that you want to install and click Update Driver Software…
    # A window will appear asking “How do you want to search for the driver software?".. Click “Automatic Update"..
    # It will automatically update find the latest drivers and will update it...
    Check the computer if you are running Windows update on the back ground. If it is running then try to disable it temporarily. Here is the link for how to disable it: http://www.techtalkz.com/windows-7/515869-windows-update-enable-disable-automatic-updates-windows-7-...

  • [Solved] Internet speed problems

    Hello. I noticed that my firefox is taking a long time "looking up" sites, even google, so that sites that have to do multiple lookups load extremely slowly. In windows it works fine. I thought it was a dns problem so i tried using opendns 208.67.222.222 in resolv.conf but no change. I am using networkmanager but a tried wicd and had the same problem. I searched around and other users had success with making some changes to resolv.conf or hosts but I don't see what else I can change.
    Here is my setup:
    rc.conf
    LOCALE="en_US.UTF-8"
    HARDWARECLOCK="localtime"
    TIMEZONE="America/Port_of_Spain"
    KEYMAP="us"
    CONSOLEFONT=

    USECOLOR="yes"
    MOD_AUTOLOAD="yes"
    MODULES=(fuse !snd_pcsp)
    USELVM="no"
    HOSTNAME="inspiron"
    INTERFACES=(!eth0 !wlan0)
    ROUTES=(!gateway)
    DAEMONS=(syslog-ng !network netfs crond alsa hal networkmanager samba)
    hosts
    # /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
    #<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname>
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost inspiron myhost
    # End of file
    resolv.conf
    # Generated by NetworkManager
    nameserver 192.168.1.1
    modprobe
    # /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf (for v2.6 kernels)
    # disable autoload of ipv6
    alias net-pf-10 off
    alias ipv6 off
    Any help is appreciated.

    Okay, I made an error when testing the nsswitch configuration. According to its man page nsswitch.conf is loaded by a process only once. The process will continue to use this configuration even if the file is changed.
    Initially I had "hosts: files wins dns". Using "hosts: files dns wins" seems to have solved the problem. I had to make sure to restart my browser when testing the changes.
    Thanks for all the help.

  • Slow internet speed -upgraded it to highest speed

    I have had FiOS internet for about four years and never questioned the speed 10/2, but I had it plugged into the router.  On 3/4, I upgraded to TV FiOS/internet and phone bundle.  I do not have my computer where the router is located now (downstairs) and I had asked them to move it upstairs, but left before they had done it.  When I checked the speed (I guess the wireless speed since it is not plugged in to the router), it was 15.66/10 mbps.  I ordered the 35/35 mbps speed bundle.  I called Verizon and asked them about it and she checked the speed and said that it was "pretty good" considering it is wireless.  What?  I am not getting what I am paying for.  Do I need a DSL filter on all the phone lines?  Do I need a new router (I still have the old one)?  I have read on the community here that everyone has called several times to get an answer to the slow internet speed problem. Does anyone have the 35/35 mbps speed plan and have it work at this speed? I might as well go down to the 15 or 25 plan if that speed is all I am every going to get......But maybe if I go down to 25 plan, I'll get 10 or 15...... I will continue to try and work with Verizon to get this solved.   .Thanks for any help.

  • Internet speed reduced by airport extreme

    I have an older AE, the dome. I use it to create a wireless network for my Apple TV an laptop but I have my G5 desktop connected to the AE with an ethernet cable. After noticing internet speed problems I checked it with speakeasy and sure enough it was only 2 megs down. It should be about 8. When I connected the ethernet directly to the G5 intstead of going through the AE my speed jumped up to 8.5. I thought that since the G5 was connected with an ethernet from the AE it would not suffer from wireless speed restrictions. Am I wrong?

    I get great connection and speed with AirPort Extreme, it would be the last thing I would suspect.
    have you tried the usual reboot modem and router?
    Are you set up as a home network WPA2? (This keeps the neighbors from piggybacking on your network)
    How much improvement do you get via Ethernet?
    I suggest asking Charter if they have provisioned your line correctly for the speed you are paying for (would not be the first time a provider didn't deliver correct speeds)
    Is it possible the modem is done for?  How old is it?

  • Problem: slow connection. I have an iMac (2007) running on Mac OS X 10.6.8. I just had my internet speed increased from 1 to 3 Mbps but my connection slowed down considerably. Do I have to change any setting?

    One possibility is that you may need to "Upgrade" your Cable /DSL Modem if you have an older unit.  ISP's that provide your Internet service in recent years have been switching over from DOCSIS 2.1 version Modems to DOCSIS 3.0 version Modems, which handle the new higher data streaming speeds the ISP's are offering.  I would suggest you call your ISP's Technical Support and inquire about this possibility.

    Bought 4th Gen 3TB TC - streaming TV over the internet is now so slow and now is constantly buffering.  It seems the Airport Utility is always 'searching for new networks' - don't know if this is the problem.  It's not the internet speed as checked that.  I took my old router upstairs and was streaming TV via my ipad seamlessly - the same program via the TC was constantly buffering.
    I just expected to be able to plug in the TC, so a simple set-up and experience wireless both upstairs and downstairs in my house.  For some reason the range is low and speed veru disappointing.
    I am far from being an IT expert but I would welcome advice about setting up this TC so we can enjoy the product as it was designed.  Please HELP!

    No silver bullet........but my suggestions may drive you in the right direction.
    1.  Unplug the power cable from the TC and wait 10-15 minutes before powering back up.   Seriously wait!
          Proceed to #2 if this dosen't help.
    2.  Unplug the power cable from the TC, ubplug the power cable from your Broadband Modem (assuming it's a cable modem), disconnect ethernet, and cable from modem.
    2a.  Wait 10-15 minutes then re-connect cable, ethernet, and power back to modem (your modem should power up unless you have a power switch)  wait for all the modem lights to come on EXCEPT activity.
    2b.  Connect ethernet from modem to TC, and plug in the power cable to TC.
          Proceed to #3 if this dosen't help.
    3.  Reconfigure the TC.........Read here........http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3728
    All really simple to do....if you need additional help let me (us) know.

  • Erratic Internet Speed Causing Connection Problems

    Hi BTCare,
    I have been a BT Broadband Customer for many years and haven't faced any difficulties up until a week ago; I have the original white home hub. In June 2010 an ADSL upgrade was carried out in my area and since that time I have been able to achieve 10mb Broadband speed consistently (Peak & Non-Peak) without any problems.
    In the past 5-7 days my Internet Speed has been slowly deteriorating and is now becoming almost un-usable. Earlier in the week the speed dropped to around 5mb and I contacted BT Support over the phone and they instructed me to run speed tests throughout the day suggesting that the problem may lie with internet activity in my area increasing during peak times. This didn't seem to be the case as the speed tests were returning similar speeds regardless of what time of day I carried out the tests.
    Since then my speeds have continued to decline to as low as 1mb at times which has now made it difficult to even use the internet as even loading web pages sometimes takes up to 30 seconds. Some wireless devices (e.g. iPhone) can't even establish a connection to the router even when I am standing directly in front of it.
    I have configured my wireless connection (changing channels etc.); re-starting the router at intervals hoping this will improve matters but this has proved fruitless. I have run a speed test now with the results as follows:
     Download speedachieved during the test was - 240 Kbps
     For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 100-500 Kbps.
     Additional Information:
     Your DSL Connection Rate :5923 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 1191 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
     IP Profile for your line is - 500 Kbps
    The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 8.84:23.63:67.79 (SBE:NBEBE)
    These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
    The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
    Upload speed achieved during the test was - 171 Kbps
     Additional Information:
     Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 1191 Kbps
    Any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Dan

  • Lenovo a7000 slow wifi downloading speed

    i have lenovo a7000 which gives slow downloading speed in wifi with good wifi signal. please tell me anyone how to fix this issue.

    hi nestharus,
    Welcome to the Forums.
    If you have the Atheros AR9485 Wireless Adapter, can you try this driver:
    Drivers for Atheros AR9485 and Windows 8
    Version: 10.0.0.234
    OS: Windows 8 32/64bit
    File: win8-10.0.0.234-whql.zip
    Alternativey, does the issue happens also if you boot into Safe Mode with Networking? (if you get a stable good download then it's possible that a security software is interferring with the wireless connection).
    Edit:
    Using the Dink Wireless AC1200 Dual Band USB Adapter will definitely improve the performance (you may need to set it to 2.4Ghz if you only have a single band router)
    regards,
    neokenchi
