Lenovo B590 - Odd "Icon" After Update

Hello,
After updating a friends computer, I have a new "icon" that I can't get rid of. I upgraded the memory & ran all the Windows & Lenovo updates. Pictures below.
The "icon" is on top of everything I open. Desktop, web pages, files, etc. Clicking, or right clicking on it, has no effect. It doesn't seem to do anything, but is in the way because it is on top of everything that we are trying to do.
I assume this a Lenovo "icon", because I have never seen it in Windows before. I uninstalled the new memory, just to make sure that wasn't the problem & it wasn't. I have gone through all the Lenovo applications & nothing jumps out at me. But not knowing what I am looking for makes it hard to figure out.

I'm sure it is an easy setting adjustment, I just can't figure it out & I don't want to give it back like this.
The OS is Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

OK, Got it figured out. It is a number lock icon. Fixed by going to monitor properties & adjusting the on screen display settings. Must of defaulted to "always show indicator" when updating the video drivers from the Lenovo site. I don't know why you would ever want this. I hope others are able to figure this out easier than I was. Thanks

Lenovo a7000 Russian Firmware

So after the latest update s142_150630 my phone has started to show lags and battery performance has also decreased (and 25% to 15% in just 5 min)
I requested lenovo support for stock Firmware but they haven't replied yet.
If anyone has tried Russian Firmware it has vibe ui2.5

Blank screen after update (KMS related?)

After the last kernel update I got a blank screen at boot. I'm not sure, but I think it happens when KMS kicks in. I think it's related to a broken EDID I've been fighting for months. The stop-gap measure I'd been using so far is to have a custom config in xorg.conf.d and booting to a DM, but that doesn't seem to work with the new kernel.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem once and for all?

I can confirm that this is definitely caused by KMS. It doesn't make any difference whether I'm using nouveau or the proprietary drivers, but I can get into a login prompt by adding nomodeset to the kernel parameters. It's been suggested to set the resolution manually like this:
video=VGA-1:1280x1024@75
And that does set the resolution, but I end up getting a blank screen anyway.
I've switched to linux-lts for now, but obviously this is not a permanent solution. Does anyone have any idea of what I should do? There doesn't appear to by any definitive information about what to do when KMS fucks up.

Any way to restore factory SMC firmware after update

I installed the lastest SMC Firmware Update , and my fn is runninng constantly, something it did not do before.
I also added 2Gb ram at the same time so im not sure if this is related (i did check that the tempreture sensor cable was plugged in)
Anyway is there a way to restore the original factory SMC firmware so i can see if that is the issue?

Does she have a backup (e.g. using Time Machine)? If so, restore from that. If not, they're gone.

Lenovo Aura not working after update

Hi, I have a Horizon 27 and recently updated it to Windows 8.1. After that, Lenovo Aura does not seem working. It does not give an error but just terminates after the splash screen.
To try re-install it, I dont see an option to download it from anywhere (I have gone through the thread in which someone ordered the original application CDs from customer service). My one year warrantly has finsihed. Can I still ask the support to devlier me CDs. Any help regarding this would be appreciated. Thanks

Bug after updating User Logon Account (using AD Integrated Windows Authentication)

I am using Integrated Windows Authentication in Project Server. And I have changed one user Active Directory (AD) useraccount name…
Then when I go to "Manage Users" page in Project Server, I see that the new data information wasn’t updated with "Active Directory Enterprise Resource Pool Synchronization" (I forced the Synchronization and still nothing aspens)…
So I checked the "Prevent Active Directory synchronization" checkbox for this user (in Project Server), and I changed the "User logon account" field manually, then after I save, the logon account isn’t uploaded… It shows the previous useraccount
name.
The only change made in the AD account name was that we changed the "Ç" character to "C".
In the AD this accountname no longer have the "Ç" character...
So why does the accountname in Project Server shows the "Ç" character instead of "C"?

The change is actually not reflecting in SharePoint. If I am not wrong, you are actually talking about the display name on the top right side of the page which is actually pulled from SharePoint content database where PWA site collection is residing.
If that is the case, then you will have to delete the user from SharePoint and add him back. Or, if you need more details on how to do this, you can open a case with MS.

Copy Function Doesn't Work After Updating user.js File

I tried the Copy Function at the web site www.gogvo.com and got an error message from Firefox that Copy wasn't enabled. I got more info and created a user.js file in my Profile with the above site inserted following directions on the Troubleshooting Help page. I restarted Firefox but still can't use the Copy Function when I right-click a highlighted field to Copy. I have no problem when I use Internet Explorer 9 with my Windows 7 Home Premium. I have the latest version of Firefox. I have no problem copying on other sites, such as MSN Hotmail.

I tried {Ctrl+C} and that doesn't work. I deleted the user.js file and downloaded the allowclipboard-helper file extension, and that doesn't work. Is there another solution to try?

Lenovo a7000 Messaging app lagging and slowness issue

Hi friends , i do have Lenovo a7000 . since the 1st update i am facing a severe problem of messaging apps lagging and taking too much time to open the messaging app . I found out the Issue of this problem that since they introduced star marke near the name of the thread this problem started and since then this problem persists . so if any one if still facing this issue please do tell me . and lenovo JAMEZ Please provide a solution to this issue as it takes to much time to open banking secure sms which gives us very less time to enter authentication code. Nothing fixed. Before I update I'm playing dead trigger 2 smoothly, but now
after update little bit lag, more heat, n I feel my battery drained faster
please fix this, at least bring back the firmware like before!

Macbook 2.4 2008 after update 10.6.8 and firmware, won't fully boot

Weird problem after updating to 10.6.8 from 10.6.0 (fresh install).
I went thru Software Update, it downloaded 10.6.8 and the other updates. It also found that I needed a Firmware Update, which I also choose to install.
The updates went thru okay, including the Firmware. Everything went exactly as it should. The machine booted as per normal.
Afterwards, I checked that it had updated normally to 10.6.8 and everything checked out okay.
I left the Macbook plugged in and in Sleep. It was like this for probably 24 hours. NO BATTERY INSTALLED (don't know if this could be a problem, but I don't see how). I just came back now to find that I can't get back to the desktop from Sleep, nor can I boot to the desktop.
Specifically, here's what I see:
- first, on trying to Wake from Sleep, the screen remained black. The Superdrive spun up, the white light at the front of the Macbook was pulsing. But no desktop.
- I then held the Power button till it shut down. Then rebooted. And here's what I got:
a) no startup chime
b) I could Superdrive and fans and HD spin up
c) the display turned on, but didn't show the startup screen, no Apple logo, etc. It just went to the Desktop in about 10-15 seconds.
d) on the Desktop I can see:
- the Desktop background
- the Disk Utility window open to Repair Permissions, which was the last thing I'd done on the Macbook (permissions checked out okay)
- and THIS: I've never seen it before, but the Desktop is a bit "fuzzy", I can see the background and the Disk Utility window though, as well as a NUMBER OF SHORT BARS towards the bottom of the screen, and there's a BAR BY BAR PROGRESS from left to right (the first bar is filled in, then the second, etc.), BUT the progress DOESN'T make it to the last bar before the SCREEN GOES BLACK AGAIN (*sorry for the caps, but I'm trying to highlight the salient parts).
Any ideas?
Is this somehow related to the Firmware update? I remember that the Macbook booted fine after the Firmware update, the long horizontal progress bar was filled in as normal and got to the end; IIRC the Macbook then booted fine. I believe it was at this point that I repaired Permissions. Then left the Macbook, only to return to find it as it is now.
Any help much appreciated.

Update:
Installed 10.6 and did all the updates, am now using it with an external monitor. Working fine as a Mini, but a real bummer re. the black or blue screen.
Without external monitor connected, I get this:
- I can boot, with startup chime, from DVD or external hard disk, after holding Option at startup and choosing bootable volume on screen; I can also boot from the DVD by holding down C key
- When I boot, the startup chime doesn't sound right away, as there's a short delay; in that time (a few seconds), the LED light at the front of the Macbook FLASHES 5 TIMES; there are NO error beep sounds
- The boot screen starts up, I get Apple logo and spinning wheel, and at about the usual point where the screen goes blue for a couple seconds, before the Macbook boots to the desktop, the screen goes black
- The Macbook seems to go to Sleep, with the screen black; the front light pulses
- I can wake the Macbook from Sleep by pressing a key
- Previously, after waking from Sleep, the Macbook went to the desktop -> in other words, the Macbook completed startup with the black screen;
- When the Macbook woke from Sleep, there was a slight delay of a few seconds before the Trackpad and Keyboard became active; I then had a few seconds to use the Trackpad before the screen went black again, and the Macbook went back to Sleep
- Now, though, when I wake it from Sleep, I get a Blue Screen, and the screen stays blue; i.e., doesn't turn black and the Macbook doesn't sleep
All of this refers to booting the Macbook without an external monitor connected.
When booting with an external monitor, everything works normally.
POINTS OF PARTICULAR INTEREST:
1) all of this happened from the time I updated the Firmware, as per Software Update
2) the screen works during the boot process, then goes black
3) boot completes even with black screen
4) the screen works for a 10 seconds when Macbook wakes from Sleep, then goes black again
5) now, the screen goes blue - and stays there - when the Macbook wakes from Sleep
6) Macbook works normally with external monitor; the Macbook's internal display is not recognized when an external monitor is connected; the iSight camera is not recognized
So, what the heck happened?
I can understand the internal display and/or onboard video getting broken, but then it should simply not work at all, right? How is it that it works "partially" or "temporarily", during boot and when waking from Sleep, before going black?
What is with the 5 flashing LEDs at boot or when waking from Sleep? (I can't find any info concerning the Macbook and 5 flashing LEDs, but only concerning the Macbook Air, and it refers to a battery problem).

Black screen with underscore after updating ubuntu on Lenovo G560

hello everybody, I'm new here. I looked for this problem online during the past few days but I haven't found a solution. I have a Lenovo G560 and I divided my hard drive into two partition, I installed Ubuntu on C:\ and Windows on D:\ and I haven't had any problem, but after updating ubuntu to version 14 my computer couldn't boot anymore. the bios loads and I see the Lenovo icon but then I just get a black screen with an underscore (not a blinking underscore), I tried booting from a bootable USB stick but the same thing happened (I put it as the first device to boot from in BIOS settings). can anyone please tell me what are my other options ? what should I try now ? thanks in advance and have a good day !

Hi s, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Try this:
Hold down the Option+Command (Apple)PR keys, boot/restart your MBP while continuing to hold down those four keys, and after you hear the startup chime for the second time, release the keys. That should reset your PRAM and resolve the issue.
If the issue persists, while you're booted into Open Firmware, just after the prompt, type in:
reset-nvram
then press return, then type in:
reset-all
and press return. This should restart your MBP and it should go back to starting normally.

T510 cannot hibernate after update ssd firmware

Recently installed crucial m4 ssd for my T510. reinstalled windows using recovery cd and ubuntu 12.10. The machine was working fine.
After update the curcial firmware tfrom 00F o 010G I couldn't hibernate. The screen turns to black with all indicator on. Once move the mouse the screen turns back. I checked the power setting in Windows or lenovo power management, there is no problem. Yet I don't see other people having the same issue so I just want to check if y anyone using T510 with ssd have similar problems.
I also installed a Mountain lion skin pack which renders windows into a mac but I guess that wouldn't matter for system function, at least not as much as the boot is now handled by linux's grub.

To eject the CD, restart your mac and hold down the mouse button. If you don't have a mouse, hold down the eject button while restarting.
Before you do that, find the original DVD that came with your MB Pro. If you can get the boot DVD in the slot in time, hold down the C key to boot from the DVD, as soon as the DVD starts to spin, hold down the option key. Then you can choose to run the disk utility or boot into the Hardware Test.

Hi everyone yesterday I was experiencing the same problem I am glad to share its fixed now for me
"This issue is only related to our Apple ID and to to those specific apps which we already have on phone or had installed on phone before except for those apps which we already have in purchase history AppStore>Updates>Purchase(on iPhone) History(having cloud icon next to them) it's something related to our purchase data
*ITS NOT RELATED TO PHONE OR MAC!
*RESETTING OR UPDATING THE DEVICE WONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
(As in my case it was on iPhone 4 7.1.1 iPhone 5s 7.0.3 and iTunes of course )
Here is how I got it fixed
I contacted apple support via chat method and I asked about a solution giving my info.she told me that she submitted my application and in order to resolve this I should not be using my AppStore ID for any purchase for at least 30mins as doing so may not resolve the issue so I checked it after couple hours and it's fixed
(As I read in some other discussions that some people asked for solution from apple support and they told them to reset the device or so.. You may need to make your statement clear that it's appearing both on iTunes and iPhone )
