Lenovo A820 Audio Jack / Headset

Hello,
I've a small question about this phone audio jack. The headset that was shipped with the phone seems to work correctly but if I try to plug any other headset (tested with 3 of them including iphone's headset) the sound is really low and bad quality. If I plug the A820 headset into a computer audio jack I have the same audio problem. I guess that means that there's some speciality in the audio jack and headset of this phone and I'd like to know what to be able to buy other headphones if needed. Or if there's any adapter that would render any headsets compatible with this phone ?
Best Regards

You have to pay $10 but this worked perfectly for me: http://www.meelec.com/MEElectronic_TRRS_Adapter_for_P_Version_Headphones_p/adptr-trrs-35.htm Explanation below posted by djdosage in http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/189523-final-soultion-why-most-headsets-wont-work... "Connection types for headphones with a mic (and newer ones with volume control) are configured in TRRS- Tip, Ring, Ring, Sleeve. On TRRS there are 2 types- 1. The original TRRS configuration was created by Nokia and has a pinout of Left Audio, Right Audio, Mic, Ground. 2. Apple came along and in typical elitist fashion changed their pinout to Left Audio, Right Audio, Ground, Mic. Many have now followed this design. This is why many apple headsets will not work with android, because the last 2 connections, for Mic and Ground are switched. The issue is with the hardware. The way that songs are skipped (forwards, backwards, and pause) occurs by sending signals down the ground channel (when you tap the button it shoots an electrical signal that the phone will pick up and interpret). The way that volume is increased/decreased occurs by sending signals down the Mic channel. This is why- if you try a set of newer iPhone earbuds on the GSIII- as I have- the center button does nothing, but yet the volume up and volume down both pause tracks, and allow you to skip them!! Additionally, Apple has patents on their TRRS connection- in fact on the resistances (the actual ohm resistance in-line on the controls- not to get scientific or anything ) so that the headphones are designed to work only with Apple products. In other words- you could have a device with the same TRRS Pinout as apple products- but the headset wont work because the resistances (ohms) of the headphones send signals that your phone is not allowed to interpret into the correct actions (since apple patented these)"

  • Problem with headphones working with audio jack on Lenovo G510s touch laptop?

The speakers on the laptop itself work, but when I plug in any pair of headphones or earphones (I've tried 5 known good pairs) and it is the same problem every time. The right ear piece works and the left does not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver to no avail.
I believe it is a hardware problem and it has a warranty until May 30, 2015, but I don't have the time or money to send it off to lenovo to fix (Expensive to send from military base).
Is there any easy solution like an usb audio jack or something I can use to be able to use headphones?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Exact same problem, just bought Idea Pad S510p 2 weeks ago.  When I checked out the User Guide where it identifies all the ports it the laptop and discusses the combo audio jack it states "The combo audio jack does not support conventional headsets".   I called tech support where I bought it  and he seemed surprised, tried to tell me I didn't have conventional head phones.  Explained I tried 3 different headphones that work in everything else. He suggest going to Radio Shack and getting a splitter that you plug into the audio jack  that splits between audio and microphone.   I'm going to contact Lenovo and see what they say.

  • After attaching the headset to the audio jack, i get sound from the laptop speaker

after attaching the headset to the audio jack, i get sound from the laptop speaker

This worked for me as well. Great find! I have gigabyte ep45-ud3r motherboard and I was getting all sound through external speakers except itunes was playing the sound out of the digital output instead of the speakers. I could see this when I went to control panel > hardware & sound > manage audio devices. I did the repair as described above and now I have sound in iTunes.

  • Laptop HP 14d-006La has only one audio jack (mic/headset)

Laptop HP 14d-006La has only one audio jack (mic/headset)
    How can I solve this?
I need to use my headset built-in mic instead of the laptop intengrated mic but it has only 1 audio jack, Can I solve this by software? or at least can I choose wether use the jack as mic or use it as external speaker?
Thanks in advance for any help

    Hi EdgarNaranjo,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP 14-d006la Notebook  and having issues with connecting a microphone. Audio-out (headphone)/Audio-in (microphone) jack connects optional powered stereo speakers, headphones, earbuds, a headset, or a television audio cable. Also connects an optional headset microphone. This jack does not support optional microphone-only devices. Be sure that the device cable has a 4-conductor, a connector that supports both audio-out (headphone) and audio-in (microphone). Here is a document on connecting a microphone.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • ALL flash audio not working with G930 headset unless audio jack plugged in once and activated

Problem: Inexplicably and sporadically, ALL flash audio is mute in FF when using a wireless G930 headset connected to USB dongle (physically or wireless), but everything plays fine in Chrome and Explorer. I'm here to tell you what worked for the sake of others, and to make the FF team aware of a problem worth their attention.
Statement: Everything is up to date. FF, extensions, Flash, Java, Windows. I uninstalled flash on FF and my machine and reinstalled on both. My headset audio device is correctly activated in WIndows Audio Devices - all other devices are deactivated.
My current solution: I learned from a prior FF issue involving YouTube videos that YT has something called DASH playback, requiring you to plug in an audio cable to your machine, or the video won't play (WTF right?). An extension called "YouTube Center" fixes this by allowing you to turn off DASH playback. After plugging in a set of earphones into my computer's audio jack, I activated the audio device on the machine, and got audio through the earphones and headset. I then disconnected the earphones, and disabled the audio jack. Audio now works fine on the headset, and I've rebooted the machine, turned the audio jack back on, rebooted firefox multiple times to make sure. Currently, things are fine, but I'm reluctant to plug anything back into the jack.
For some strange reason, FF seems to have trouble recognizing my G930 headset as a valid audio device, or that's my guess. The fact that everything is peachy in other browsers should narrow down the culprit.
Hopefully this helps someone else, and we can find out what the core bug is to make things right.
Ask any questions if you have them and I'll try to get back.

    Very nice work.

It has one combo (mic+speaker) audio jack on its left side. When I insert a 3.5 mm, it does not go in even after a little bit of force. Do i have to buy a smaller one?

    Hi Mahvash,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
As per the information available in the User Guide this model of computer has combo audio Jack and the combo audio jack does not support conventional microphones and also the recording function may not be supported if third-party headphones or headsets are connected, due to different industry standards. Below is the link for more information about Combo Audio Jack.

  • Can't get combo audio jack to pick up microphone

I have a G710 Lenovo laptop. It comes with a combo audio jack. I tried plugging my microphone it in but it wouldnt pick it up, it would only register the headphones. I bought a splitter for it and it still wont pick up the microphone. I know the microphone works because if i use a USB adapter, it works fine.

    Hello,
I was able to open everything before, however I cannot choose Scarlett because it does not show up. It is not the cord because I can tell power is reaching the cord.
I think it must be a bug of some sort related to the software.

  • Audio jack no longer fits

I have a brookstone Weather-Resistant Indoor/Outdoor Wireless Speaker that has always connected to my iPhone 3Gs with no problems - I recently upgraded everything and all of the sudden the audio jack will not fit into the iPhone like it always has done before - it goes in but will not snap into place. There is nothing in the audio hole on the iPhone - is it even possible for a firmware update to cuase this problem?

How could a firmware update conceivably change the size of the headset jack, (or any other aspect of the phone hardware)? Are you serious??
Either there is debris in the jack you don't see, or the plug has become bent or corroded. Did you try plugging in something else like the iPhone headset? If that fits, the problem is with the speaker plug. If not, the problem is in the jack, and you should blow it out with canned air (never by mouth).

  • 3.5mm Audio Jack can't be used as an input anymore.

As I was researching laptops, I took into account my interest in sound and music recording and production. I was worried that the Macbook Air wouldn't be sufficient to record what I needed it to; however, I was reassured to find that the audio jack could be used as both an output and an input.
The day came on which I finally recieved my $1400 Macbook Air, come to find that the audio jack was only an audio output, and could not be switched. I read that this was disabled accidentally by a software upgrade, and I would like to know if there is a way to bypass this problem, or somehow fix the software so it recognizes a microphone input.
    Thank You.

It is not disabled at all, you just have to have the right connector. I use it for full duplex telephone calls routinely with any of my iPhone compatible headsets.
The current MacBook Air uses a TRRS 3.5 mm mini jack, just like the iPhone. As long as the intended device (headphone/microphone) is compatible with this jack standard, you are fine.
    TRRS (tip, ring, ring, sleeve)
You can also buy adapters that will "split" the connections into separate Mic and speaker channels, for use with recording equipment using other jacks. Say, for instance you have a microphone that uses a 1/4" jack.
    Something like this:

  • Mini jack headsets line level or mic level?

Can someone please tell me if they have tested the mini jack headsets with a mac.  I know for a fact that if the microphone doesn't provide a line level input, that you won't be able to use this type of headset on a mac.  Even if you have the physical ports needed on your mac and the mac knows how to interpret the mic signal, you won't be able to use the headset unless it provides a line level input.

G4 Minis do not have optical out - only analog.
Line-level seems to be a strenght of analog signal - according to this WikipediA article. Whether the G4 will adjust the signal depending on which type of cable you use or always send the same signal is unknown to me, but there is no option in System Preferences nor in Audio MIDI Setup (in /Applications/Utilities) to specify which kind of signal can be sent.

  • Front Audio Jack is of pool quality cosmetically

Hello, I have a problem with my Front Audio Jack. When I recevied my TS-P700, I noticed that my audio jack was on abnormal position. I adjusted its position, but it's still hard when I insert my earphone cord, I feel jammed. And tis disturbed by bezel. I wanna change a part, but I'm in South Korea now, service center refused my request cause my TS P700 is from USA. So, this is my question. 1. Can I exchange a front panel part with Lenovo USA via Air mail service? If it is possible, How? 2. I'd like to know its fru number of front panel. I found some fru number, but it is not exactly(04X2728, 03T8788) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For reference before adjust its position I have adjusted, tis still disturbing.   3 pictures above are normal state. Yes, it looks pretty good.I found it from review site. Thank you!

I'm a little confused if your issue is that you think the jack itself is damaged, or whether it's simply an alignement issue of the front panel assembly and the front bezel.  If it's an alignment issue, I'm not sure replacing the front panel assembly is really going to help you much.
The front panel assembly (which includes the front audio jack) is certainly replacable.  My records show that FRU for that front panel assembly is 03T8788, but it would be good to confirm that with service.
I'm not sure I can help with your first question.  Sounds like you would need to consider purchasing the FRU directly if service is refusing your request, but I'm not familiar with all the details.
Replacing the front panel is not terribly difficult in P700 (this is a nightmare of a task on P900), but you'll want to pay special attention to how the cables are routed as you're disassembling the system (the motherboard must come out) to ensure that you get everything back together correctly.

  • Audio jack from laptop outputting louder sound on the Right

My laptop which is an HP ENVY 15 Notebook PC with Windows 8.1has been outputting louder sound from the audio jack louder on the right earpud/headphone side than the left (or the left side is softer than the right). The sound outputs normally from the build in speakers though.
The speaker properties on it has both sides balanced on the volume output. I have tried resetting the BIOS and deleting the sound card drivers from Device Manager in the Control Panel. Also I've tried deleting the driver, redownload a new one, turning off the laptop, take out the battery and drain the power, then start pressing Esc...F10...F5...and so on steps (for the people that will tell me to do this).
Is there any other solution (besides resetting the laptop completely)?

  • K410 - Lenovo HD Audio Manager

I would like to have certain programs play sound through a headset (plugged in the front) and other programs play through speakers (plugged into the back)
The Realtek HD Audio Manager has the ability to "Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously"
The Lenovo HD Audio Manager does not have the "Device advanced settings" button to make the above setting.
Is there another way to do it?
Business case: I would like all VOIP / phone call sounds to go through headset and all other sounds to go through the speakers.

  • E71 use bluetooth while audio jack,s connected

is it possible to use bluetooth headset while audio jack,s connected?
i listen a lot of internet radio on my e71 through car stereo by casette adapter(headphones enhancement).it's very arduous to plug off audio jack from the phone every time you want to answer a call and talk by bluetooth!
even if bluetooth heaset is connected i can't use him till i plug off audio jack.
if i answer a call when jack is connected i can hear the voice throough car speakers and i have to use phone mic.
    is there any solution ?
    please help!

I'm also having this problem. So are over 50 people to date, and I'm sure we're just the only ones who are active. http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/576056-can-not-use-bluetooth-when-audio-jack-plugged.html
Can this be fixed? This is extremely dangerous. I use my phone as an mp3 player and connect it through the audio jack in my car, and also want to use my bluetooth headset to make and receive calls. Instead the call comes through my speakers and there is no microphone, leaving me scrambling to unplug my audio cable while driving.
People say that the original firmware didn't have this problem. Samsung says it's Verizon, Verizon says its Samsung, I dont care who is liable as long as someone fixes it!
    Thanks
