Lenovo B310 (core i3-550) - loud fan and disk noise

I got my B310 delivered today and happy with overall look and feel. Just after few our of running, can hear loud noise.
Just double checked and found its cooling fan and hard disk making noise. I am bit worried about this and looking for any possible solutions.

Skype is a very resource intensive activity...it has been reported on here users are seeing cpu temperatures on the order of 80-85 °C, within the limits of the cpu, but still hot to the touch.
Make sure nothing else is running so you keep the thermal load down.

IMac 27" (Late 2012) Loud Fan and Overheating Issues, causing Hard Drive Failure

Hi all,
I'm having some serious overheating issues with my new iMac. Any help to help me solve this problem would be gladly appreciated since it's really beginning to bug me. Here's what's has happened:
I noticed in the first few hours of switching the iMac on that there was a short burst of very loud fan noise. This has been happening about once every two days since and every time I haven't been doing any heavy processing with the system. I've noticed that the main fan will spin, on average, at 1200rpm. Is that normal? The iMac is very well ventilated and sits right next to a window...
I have also boot camped the iMac with a copy of Windows 8 so I could run some fairly power-hungry games. I intentionally purchased a high end iMac (27" display, Intel Core i7 3.4GHz, Nvidia GeForce 680MX Graphics, 1TB Fusion drive) and expected the iMac to run games flawlessly. However, after a few days, I noticed that the CPU and GPU had shot up to a worrying 80°C whenever I ran power-hungry games, with a very loud hissing noise from the fan. After running games for about 10 minutes, the fan will stop hissing, causing the GPU and CPU to increase to 100°C. The iMac then fails and switches off unexpectedly without any warning. After analysing the Windows event logs, I received an event ID 41: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
As this occurred about six times whilst I was testing my iMac's performance, I think my hard drive has now begun to fail - sometimes I will hear the hard drive make a click noise, about once every 5 seconds. Sometimes, the clicking noise causes OS X and Windows to run very slowly (even though minimal RAM is being used and nothing too intensive (Safari, Mail etc.) is being processed). Running Repair Disk and Repair Disk Permissions under OS X's recovery mode as well as a repair in chkdsk in Windows suggests that there were no problems with the hard drive. All I can do is wait a while for the clicking noise to stop, and then performance will increase. I have backed up everything externally.
I have also performed a reset of the SMC as well as the PRAM, which hasn't really helped.
Any help will be appreciated. I will gladly provide any extra logs etc. if they're needed.

That's the default fan speed on iMacs, so there isn't any problem with this.

You must know that Boot Camp isn't compatible with Windows 8 and that Apple hasn't released drivers for Windows 8, so it can fail. Install Windows 7 inmediately until Apple launches updated drivers.
As it looks like the hard disk is damaged, I would take the Mac to an Apple Store. It's in warranty, so it should be repaired for free or you should receive a new one

Loud fan and metal cracking noise on Macbook Pro 13''?

I have the late 2011 model Macbook Pro 13''. The problem started out with just a loud fan, the computer started to operate really slowly and just yesterday I started to hear loud metal rattling on the inside. At first it was just when I turned the computer but now it will do it periodically while it's sitting completely still while running. It also is heating up a lot. I've already gone to Activity Monitor and killed all activities using too much CPU and the fan doesn't stop.

I have the same model and accidentally dropped mine off my bed today.
I looked around for a while to see what the noise could have been and found this

I'd suggest you try turning off the SMS and then back on.
I did that with mine and it hasn't made any more noise since. If that doesn't help, it's never a bad idea to go to the apple store to have it looked at. Especially for how expensive the computer is.

Remove the side panel from the case, and look for the heatsink & Cooler for the CPU. Make sure there isn't a wire stuck in the fan and make sure the CPU fan's power cord has not come unplugged from the mobo.
Do you ever get the computer shutting down saying that there is a "Thermal Event" or something similar?

Macbook Pro 2011 loud fans and slow computer functioning?

Today my Macbook has suddenly begun to act slow and the fans are running quite loud. I read online that I should try checking the activity moniter, and I did this, and a program is currently taking a large portion of my CPU. However, I am unable to quit it and I'm sure it is the problem. In one of the description fields it is lableled "root" and says "kernel_task". Someone please help me out!

Actually I'm still running snow leopard. But this problem is confusing me so badly. I have tried several times to totally restart the computer by holding down the power button for a few seconds. The MacBook restarts fine but upon startup the fans start running loud again and the Performance of the computer is clearly slower than normal. For example, when I maneuver with the trackpad down to the dock the icons are very slow to respond. Also, normally upon startup my keyboard illuminates upon viewing the log in screen, however for some reason this is not happening either.
I hope someone on here has the solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.

MBP C2D 2.16 - Loud Fans and HDD

I got it today and it runs cooler and faster than the CD MBP that I used for 4 days (this new one is its replacement.)
But I have 2 complaints -
Ultra loud fans, I can't listen to music without getting annoyed even when it is away from my lap, connected to a Cinema Display. The fans turn on very quickly - I don't have to stress it that hard. They turn off only when the machine is idle. Any sort of activity drives the fans crazy.
Next one - the 160Gb HDD makes about as much annoying sounds when active.
Is this stuff normal? At least it wasn't the case with my PowerBook and CD MBP.

I got my laptop last week and at first it did not make any sounds. However last night I was working with WORD and EXCEL and the fans started to turn on, not loud, but they were constantly running. It was kind of interesting cause these apps arent too demanding, but thought nothing of it. Turned on the laptop this morning and the fans started right up again. Currently only using Safari and the fans are still on. Again, they arent running loud, but I can hear them in my room with little background noise, which I did not hear when I first got the laptop. Any words or wisdom or suggestions?

So, my mac restarted one day after a update now everytime i power up i hear the fans and the drive and nothing happens. I reset the RAM and have tried everything and ideas?

Loud fan and static on my 1.83 ghz macbook pro

hi have been having some moments where my fan just goes on and sounds very loud whenever i start doin a lot of extensive tasks. i also noticed that there is a slight static in the back. is this normal?

Update your system to 10.4.9, run all software updates, i see your info shows you are currently running on 10.4.8.
What's maybe better is to download the Combo 10.4.9 update from the apple site and install that.

PB G4, 867 MHz, Titanium Loud fan and really hot base

Hi All,
Recently I just noticed that my powerbook's fan is extremely loud. Is this normal? I don't think the fan was this loud when I bought it 2 years ago. Also it gets pretty hot.
Any help/advice/tips..etc, would help. Thanks!
Also, will applecare (extended 3 yr. warranty) help me out with this dilemma???

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
First, which model of Ti do you have? (Apple Menu>About This Mac>Processor)
It is normal for the fan/s to run when the PB gets warm. Are you saying the fan/s run more often now, or that it/they is/are louder than before?
Turn off all widgets, try a PMU Reset, run Background Maintenance, Repair Permissions (Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility>select HD in panel at left>click on Repair Permissions at bottom of main window and allow process to finish before quitting DU), and Repair Disk (Boot from install disc (insert disc>restart>immediately hold down c key and keep holding it until you see Preparing Installation)>at first screen go to Installer Menu>open Disk Utility>select your HD in the panel on the left side>click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says appears ok twice in a row. If that doesnt happen, you may need a stronger utility such as DiskWarrior or you may have a damaged HD; Repair Disk can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself) and see if anything changes. If not, I would call AppleCare.

Loud fan and hot macbook

Just in the last week or so I've noticed my Macbook gets really warm after about half an hour or so and the fan (I think) gets really loud. I'm not normally running much maybe itunes and safari and thats it.
Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Go to Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor. From the pull-down menu in the middle, select "All Processes" (default is "My Processes"). That will tell you if you have a runaway process running in the background.
However, depending on what you're doing in Safari, you could still be causing the high CPU load--a lot of video, for example, will cause your machine to run hot.

Macbook pro not turning on after SMC reset. I have the following problem. Yesterday I noticed that my mbp 2011does not sleep when closing the screen. smc due loud fan and an X on battery symbol

Yesterday I noticed that my mbp 2011 dos not sleep when closing the screen cover. Today I Turner my laptop in. However the fan was working loudly and stayed loud. After Start I noticed an X on Battery symbol. Clicking on it, it showed 'no battery.' I found out that a potential solution for this problem was SMC reset. I also noticed that the leds on magsafe was not lightning. Despite this I tried to execute the smc reset as described on apple support site. Switching off, plugin the magsafe connector, pushed the buttons shift + alt+ ctrl + power. Then i pushed the power button, but my mbp is not turning on. I pushed several times on the power button but nothing works. The magsafe is also dark meaning the leds not lightning. Can anyone here help me on this ?

Problem solved by my own. But do not how :) magsafe again working and the laptop tooo

MacBook Pro (Mid-2010) - Loud Fans and Extreme Heat

Hi all,
When just playing simple Youtube videos or facebook games, my fans spin at high RPM and are very loud and the underside gets extremely hot (CPU > 80 deg. Celsius). Running OSX 10.8.5. What may be the issue here? It has only starting becoming apparent recently.

Google chrome helper can read anywhere from high 80's to just under 130 percent too. Likewise, when I have skype active, that does the same thing.

ThinkServer TS140 - Inconsistently loud fans, and BIOS update made it worse?

This is an unusual request for me to be making, but does anybody have any experience with the fans on a TSx40 ThinkServer randomly ramping up, even when the processors are minimally loaded?
I have a ThinkServer TS140 that I loaded VMware ESXi 5.5 on that is intended to live in my front office for basic development. Nothing fancy, and really just a couple of simple LInux VM's, generally only one at a time.
Hardware is:
ThinkServer TS140 with Intel Xeon E3-1225v3 at 3.2GHz
Intel PWLA8391GTBLK PRO/1000 GT Desktop Network Adapter
Adaptec RAID 6405E Storage Controller (2271700-R)
(2x) WD Red 1TB hard drives (WD10EFRX)
Out of the box, I would boot the server up, it would be whisper-quiet, and I would work with it as needed. This is my first Lenovo purchase, and I was very impressed with the performance-and-silence-to-cost ratio. Then, one night when I left the server running without any VM's even powered on, I came in to find the fans ramped up to full speed. I couldnt explain why, so I restarted the server and it returned to normal. This has happened a number of times, and I cant figure out why.
This morning I tried performing a BIOS update to 8A8 using the DOS Utility, and the update went well....but now the fans are ramped up all the time!
I have the BIOS power settings on "Best Acoustic Performance", and I'm not sure what else to do...
Is this an issue with using non-Lenovo hardware in the server, specifically the network card or RAID adapter?
I'm open to any suggestions, thoughts, ideas, or questions.....thanks!

Validated is a term used when we have tested and ensured the functionality of a device in the system. Some devices have specific firmware on them (specific to Lenovo). Since there are thousands of potential devices and configurations, it is impossible to test and validate them all. There is a subset of hardware that is tested and approved (validated) and also supported on Lenovo systems. This information can be found on our support site in the documentation section.
Here is the datasheet for the TS140 which details what is validated and supported on the TS140.

Loud fan and overheating issue.

I bought a secondhand macbook about 8 months ago, and recently the fan has started making a god awful noise, and it stops and starts every now and then, and my laptop is heating up. Is this a hardware problem? and will it be expensive to fix?
