I been having a problem lately with my integrated biometric reader (fingerprint scanner) since probably march or april at times it would either not register my print like i never swiped my finger on it or say it couldnt read it and it would take multiple times and now as of recently it has been stuck on Device suspended as shown below via the attached image the reader is now currently disconnected laptop after noticing some heat coming from the reader area I am a certified PC tech and would be able to replace this part if needed all i need is the part number for the reader but i will say this though this would be the second component to fail on my b570-1068AHU  the first thing to fail was the dvd burner which i had to replace there was a problem with the SD card reader that corrected itself after running some updates I do want to know however if anyone else on here has had this same issue

  • Lenovo finger print not working

    Hi,
Lenovo finger print suddenly stopped working last week on my laptop. Further to this while looking for solution i came across the new update available on suppport and download page for my system (3000 N200 0796) (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-67845).
I unintalled the lenovo finger print software and intalled a new one from above update link.
But still its not working. When i open the finger print reader i get a message saying "Failed to open the sensor" and when i try to access it via client security solution i get message saying "device is not installed"
Further to above i checked the device manager and there is no option for finger print. I thenk checked BIOS and found that under security option ther is also no option of finerpring..!!!
I think deleting the old software completely and downloading was not a good idea..
Does anyone know how to get the fingerprint option back into bios??

    Hi,
I haven the same problem once I uninstalled Vista and installed XP SP3.
I was able to resolve this by following way:
    1. I found in the device manager "AuthenTec Inc." device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    2. I opened this device and pressed the "Update driver" in the 'Driver" tab; then I installed the driver for the fingerprinter.
    3. As result, the system recognize this device as Personal indentification device; and fingerprinter works properly.
Please let me know if this was helpful.

    Standard practices:
Restart the device (power off completely, then back on) - retest.
Reset (hold sleep wake and home buttons until apple logo appears) - you can try this, but it is most useful when your device is frozen.
Restore to factory settings - retest.
Make an appointment at an Apple retail store genius bar if the above did not resolve the issue.

  • T 420s cooling air coming out is very hot, finger print reader problem

I am living in ruwais, abudhabi.i bought T 420s in last June from LENOVO  authorized distributor. Model number is 4174-KK4 and the sr no ***.
Sometime the cooling air coming out is very hot, unable to keep the laptop on the lap.
The cooling fan also replaced still the temperature is high.
After replacing the fan I noticed that I noticed one of the screws was not fixed, I asked them to fix it, then they fixed it.
I traveled back to my home 240 KM from the  authorized distributor service  center. when I started the laptop, the fingerprint reader was not working . Then I traveled back 240 KM to the  authorized distributor service  center to fix the issue. They fixed the fingerprint reader problem.
Then now the SD card reader is not working. I was asked to bring the laptop to the  authorized distributor service centre.
Can any one experience the same type of problems  with T 420s the cooling air coming out is very hot, finger print reader problem, card reader not working?
The authorized distributor says for the service they can only cover 50 KM form the  authorized distributor service  center to the customer point, what is the conditions for the On site warranty ?. I am living 240 KM away from the authorized distributor service center from whom I bought the laptop.
Moderator comment: Serial number(s) removed to protect member from mischief.

Well clearly after the first incident. You need to check and us it verifying everything is working before leaving the service center or town its in. Go to a coffee shop and spend time using it and test each option is working.
When the notebook its opened the finger print reader, card reader etc may not be connect properly or connectors not snap fully and disconnect. Mouse ultranav I have heard may also. But clearly you assume too much and you need to spend the time testing its working before leaving.
These service center are only paid a fixed amount so they won't spend anymore time then they have to and address one problem you brought it in for.
As for heat out put and over heating. There are many threads on these systems you can find and read about.
    Advice:
    - install Core Temp, this will monitor and display on the task bar you CPU core temp and you can see CPU load & Temperature at a glance if it approaching or staying near the max levels which will kill the CPU and/or motherboard due to cooking it. Its free just be sure to deselect any additional software from installing during the process. I use it on my notebooks. If the system is running high core Temp all the time you need to have it resolved or it will die and most likely out of warranty and/or your data will be lost if you don't have a backup as well. http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
    - use a laptop cooler. Its a flat pad you sit the laptop on you lap or table with usually two cooling fans that plug into the USB port for power. It will help cool the base of the laptop and other components inside will not be as hot. This will do nothing for the CPU temperature though.

  • Finger Print Reader Error Code E7210005

Hi: I've just upgraded by X61 Tablet from Vista to Windows 7. I did a complete reimage of the hard drive.  Installed the latest Finger Print software downloaded yesterday from the Lenovo website for 32 bit WIndows 7.  No problem on install. When I try and enroll my first finger, I get an error message that says "Operation is not allowed by operating system policies.  The error code is E7210005.  This is an error message generated by the THankVantage Fingerprint software and not Windows 7.  I need help on troubleshooting this message.  I have no idea as to what operating system policies they are talking about and where it is located.  I looked at the Windows Security Policy for the local machine and saw nothing that struck me as referring to this issue, but maybe I'm wrong.
Please advise and give me any suggestions. Thanks.  Nile

It seems to be Lenovo's wonderful ability to code for a 64Bit Os that seems to be at issue here.Install a 32bit Vista thinkvantage software in a 64bit OS and it works.

Actually parts of the code you refer to are written by Upek and not Lenovo and there is a API so Lenovo and other manufacturers can create their own GUI. Lenovo didn't create the fingerprint software/drivers from scratch on their own, but part of it is actually from Upek with a API for Lenovo and others to make a customized GUI. As the article says the Windows 7 fingerprint software from Upek have the same problem.
Also skywalkr is correct about the statement that "built-in Administrator account is not allowed to use biometrics". That have to do with the new addition to Windows 7 "Windows Biometric Framework" (WBF). Since Vista don't use WBF that limitation is not in the Vista version of the fingerprint software. This has nothing to do with 32 or 64 bit or that Lenovo is unable to code for a 64 bit OS, but rather the limitation in WBF/Windows 7 like skywalkr already pointed out. Neither do i understand why you refer to 64 bit since Nile clearly stated that he/she is using the 32 bit version of Windows 7.

  • W550S Finger print manager will not launch. win 7

Only had this laptop for 4 days now, when I first got it I registered my fingerprints in lenovos "fingerprint manager pro" from the control panel, few days later I wanted to change some settings, now when I launch fingerprint manager pro an error pops up that says
"Windows biometric support must be enabled to use this application. Enable biometrics in the Windows control panel"
Been searching and trying different things to let me open this settings manager but havent been able to solve it, if anyone has any suggestions for me that would be great.
The original issue I was trying to solve is that after waking the computer from sleep the first thing thats shows on the login page is "scan an enrolled fingerprint to log on" when this shows it takes like 15 seconds for the fingerprint reader LED to turn on, then even after that It never picks up my first swipe, after the first swipe the LED goes off for another ten seconds before I can swipe a second time this time it registeres and logs in, however, if I click "use other credentials" and select my username THEN swipe my finger it works instantly.
If anyone knows what is causing these delays in response from the FPR that would be amazing.  It seems like after every swipe there is a cooldown on the finger print reader before I can swipe again and it seems WAY longer than it should be. This makes it really annoying to log in with the finger print reader because I cant tell when its actually ready to recieve the swipe.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, after updating fingerprint manager pro it is now launching and working flawlessly, not sure why, or what simply updating the software changed in terms of permissions/accessability but it works, so im happy.
Feel kinda silly not doing the obvious first but thank you for the help, much appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion M7 Finger Print Reader Not Working

    Hi,
I recently purchased an HP Paviolion M7.
I put an OCZ SSD in, and ended up doing a fresh install using non-HP Windows 7 (64).  Using the HP Recovery Tools is simply not an option (believe me I tried).
I have everything working now, except for the Finger Print Reader.  I have tried everything I can think of and could find.
I am using all the drivers/software from:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=5273...

    And more.
I believe the issue is because Biometric Device is Unavailable to Windows, see this screenshot:
I believe the above picture causes the Authentec HP SimplePass software to not recognise the driver version, see screenshot:
    Any ideas?

I am sure they are the correct drivers, they worked with the system when it was an "HP" version of Windows.
The screens work for me, here they are again:

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook and Bluetooth and HP Simplepass complications since doing a Windows upgrade. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application. Just to make sure all drivers and software are updated as well.
Here is a document on troubleshooting and using Bluetooth if needed. Under the tips for finding a Bluetooth device, there is a section on making sure the wireless communication is turned on. This is an important section.
Here is another document with some great information about Bluetooth fixes.
Here is a link to troubleshoot the HP Simplepass software.
The HP SimplePass Identity Protection Software must be updated to v8.00.57 or later. Here is a link to download the latest. You will have to uninstall the old software.
Hope this helps you with the Bluetooth and HP Simplepass.

  • The finger print scanner doesn't work 90% of the time please help! I have tried everything.

Dose any one else have problems with the iPhone 5s finger print scanner??
I've tried rescanning, different fingers, scanning different ways. But 95% of the time it just won't work. It is soooo frustring!! I would have saved a bunch of $ and bought a 5 or 5c if I wanted a phone that didn't fingerprint scan. has any one got advice that can help? It would be appreciated. I do work with my hands ( manual labour) but it's not like I tear up my fingers every day. Any help would be appreciated.
    Peter.

If any one is still reading this thread you would know that I've been having problems with my finger print scanner. Well it turns out that the issue is not with the 5s but with my fingers. My fingers are too big for the scanner, so if your having trouble with your scanner try using just the very tip of your finger. I did a lot of research on my issue and found nothing suggesting this. My brother had the idea that this might be the problem and turns out he was right. Since rescanning the tip of my finger I have 100% success rate and am very happy with my new phone. Thanks again for all the help I got from people on this issue.

  • Finger Print reader does not link to Win7 Logon Screen

    Win7 Ultimate 64 bit
    FingerPrint software 5.9.4
Biometric link to windows Logon accepted
    MS Server domain client
At system boot, the logon screen appears and the fingerprint light is "on". I scan my finger, the light blinks once and no submission of the saved Windows password to the logon window. I must key in password.
Lenovo support asked me to uninstall software, BIOS clear saved finger prints then re-install (and re-register). I have done this twice with no change.
This was working until I had to break the domain connection (server change) and re connect to the domain with the same logon/password. It was at this time that the finger print reader stopped passing the biometric password to the OS.
Any thoughts on how to re-connect reader to logon?

I am using 5.9.4 with no problem, although I seem to recall having to go into the Fingerprint software and make some innocuous setting change, then change it back.  But I was changing a lot of things at the time and don't know for sure if that had any effect.
Are you able to log onto the domain by manually entering your password?  If not, may need to re-add the computer to the domain.
