  • Windows 7 Professional Hangs at Please Wait

Hey, so I'm working on an HP Compaq 6000 Pro.  The other week it stopped allowing logins.  I can get into safe mode, but beyond that it's
hit and miss.  I have gone over a few articles, and I've tried a few things with temporary results.  When it first happened, I ran Start Up Repair and it proceeded to the login screen.  The next day it stuck at Please Wait again, so I ran sfc.exe,
got no errors, and then did a clean boot.  That time it allowed me to login twice I believe.  The next day it hung at Please Wait again, so I disabled NLA, Windows Error Reporting, and Network List Services, and, again, it allowed me to login.  It
stopped again the next day, and everything has been a hit and miss trial.  Occasionally it will allow me to login, but not even close to consistently.  I found multiple hotfixes, but everyone I try either says the update is not applicable, or it
will start to install, and then simply say the update was not installed.  This machine is the only one experiencing the issue on the domain.  In addition, I had
read a few times that a possible cause was WMI and one its repositories building up too much, or something along those lines.  I just checked C:\Windows\System32\WBEM\Repository , which I read was the actual folder, and the size is only 20 Mb.  I
believe this rules out another cause, and my only idea.  The last thing I tried was disabling IPv6, which I heard could fix the issue, and got nothing.  I
want to avoid just wiping and reloading Windows, since all of the user's data is on the local machine.  Any advice?

    Hi,
Please understand that there are lots of factors can lead to logon hang. To make the issue clear, please paste exact error messages from Event Viewer directly. Then I will look into it and try to find the culprit.
What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer
Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the Error logs to a public folder and share the URLs with us.
Based on the current situation, I would also suggest you try the following:
    1. Check for the updated drivers especially the network adapter drivers on your computer. if the drivers are not updated then, try updating the drivers.
    2. Perform a system restore using the Windows installation disc.
Refer the link provided below to run the system restore using the system recovery options.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-are-the-system-recovery-options-in-Windows-7
In addition, when the issue occurs, you can press Ctrl+Shift+Esc combine key to launch Task Manager, on the Processes tab, find the process which is taking the most usage of the CPU.
Please also refer to the links below to check the issue:

  • P105-S6024 Recovery Disk Hangs at "Please Wait" Solved!

Perhaps this solution is posted somewhere on this forums but I could not find it so I posted it anyways.  I was having a problem with the Toshiba factory recovery disk for this model hanging just as soon as it finishes loading the Ramdisk.  Just as soon as it got past asking you for a F6 drivers disk and goes to "Please Wait" it would just hang and not boot.
After looking all weekend I decided to call Toshiba and they said to pull the battery out, unplug the laptop, and hold the power button down for 10 seconds.  That seemed to do the trick.  Thanks Toshiba.

If you can't solve your issue and no one in the community can help, contact support to speak with a tech support agent at (800) 457-7777.

  • SCVMM service causeing Windows Server 2012 R2 to hang at "Please Wait"

I have a problem with the VMM service causing my server to no longer boot. I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 server running on Hyper-V that has only SCVMM installed on it, I was getting ready to install SCCM on it after I finished migrating the machines to
a new hard drive. After I moved the VM's all of them ran fine except the server with VMM on it, I spent plenty of time on Bing and Google trying to find out why my server was stuck at Please Wait and I found nothing, not one thing. I eventually disabled the
SCVMM services in msconfig from safe mode and now it boots fine.
It cant be because I moved it because I had a previous VM that was my WSUS, Essentials, RRAS, RDGW and one i installed VMM on it and rebooted the same happened.
This did not happed when I was setting this up at my other deployment for another company

I think have fixed it, I set it as disabled as I updated VMM to Update Rollout 1 and 2 and applying the changes described in the update description. Then once complete I set the service as Automatic (Delayed Start).
If anyone else has this issue pleases share your experiences here.
Now its has returned, not this sever only has VMM 2012 R2 (with all updates) and only that no other services

  • UCCX 7.01 hangs after "Please wait while System Parameters are saved"

Have a new system, here is the order in which I completed the steps:
    OS disk
    OS Patches
    installed CRS
    Installed SQL
    installed SR5
    OS patches again
    initial config
When going through the initial configuration I get to enter the information for HR Sessions and Codec and it tells me "Please wait while System Parameters are saved".  After a few minutes it refreshes to a blank page and the system is not configured.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Rebuilt the damned thing and started from Scratch.  (Need to add to the release notes “UCCX server must be rebuilt a minimum of 3 times” as it seems this always happens.)  After this things are happy.  I did see a differnent set of screens during the initial configuration but wasn't smart enough to document them.
    1.       Installed OS
    2.       Installed UCCX 7.01
    3.       Installed SQL for UCCX 7
    4.       Ran Initial Configuration
    5.       Installed SR5 for UCCX 7
    6.       Installed OS updates 3002.1.5aSR9

  • V570 hangs during boot up - message "please wait"

I just got a new V570 Lenovo IdeaPad laptop on Sunday. It was working fine until Monday. I tried to start it up and it paused at the Please Wait screen. I didn't know what to do so I held the power button until it shut down. I then left it for a bit and it started up fine. Now, this has happened again and I am guessing it is not good. How can I fix it?

    UPDATE - OFFICIAL LENOVO SOLUTION
Please follow the link above to the Lenovo support site - this tip covers a software hang condition / please wait message caused by an interaction with the fingerprint reader and veriface software which may develop under certain conditions on V470/V570 and B470/B570 systems.
who knows - you may have fixed it (DMB stack in CMOS).  edit: removed suggestion about safe start since it didn't work..
The removing the battery and the power cord is similar to what we had to do with desktop mobos - unplug it , wait 10 seconds, press power-on a few times to bleed the power off the PSU, and then plug it in and start up - it takes power off the BIOS and causes it to re-create the DMB stack the next time you boot.  DMB = info about each device .
I also advise you to get current with MS updates (not necessarily all the optional ones!).

  • Website upgraded to CR2008/VS2008, reptviewer-refresh hangs with a wait msg

Crystal Report IX.2/VS2005 website app converted to CR2008/VS2008:  compiles clean, runs, but reportviewer-refresh hangs with  "Please wait while the document is being processed" message.  Can anybody suggest a solution or hypothesis?
    detail:
I've converted a legacy Crystal IX.2/Visual Studio 2005 web-site application to Crystal 2007/Visual Studio 2008.  The compile is free of all errors and warnings.  The application operates correctly and the Crystal report-viewer screen comes up with the correct initial page of information.  But when I click a Next/Prev/First/ast icon, I get a stuck with a perpetual "Please wait while the document is being processed" message.  In addition, the time for the Reportviewer to appear with the first page of the report information is considerably slower (2X, 3X) than it is with the original VS2005/CR IX.2 website project.  We are using ODBC to Oracle 11g.
I've searched for hits on the web and in this forum, and have tried various experiments with the registration, etc. - but nothing fixes this for me.  Can anybody suggest a hypothesis or solution?
    Thanks

Re: "Need more info. Are you using ASP.NET or are you using classic ASP and the RDC report engine?
    Thanks Don,
We're using ASP.Net.  The website project was originally written using Visual Studio 2005, Crystal Reports XI.2, and VB.Net.
The app is normally run on IIS 6.0, but I am executing the converted version in the Visual Studio 2008 debugger, i.e. without IIS.  The browser is IExplorer 8.0.
I have copied and upgraded the project to Visual Studio 2008, Crystal Reports 2008, still VB.Net.  It compiles clean, without any error messages of warning.  When I run the app, the various report selection pages appear correctly, and the correct report-viewer initial page appears as well (although in  60 seconds versus 15 seconds originally.  The main problem is that the viewer does not refresh when I click the next or last icon, a wait message popup appears perpetually.  The data access is ODBC to Oracle 11g.
For comparion, below are the assembly sections of the web.config file from both the original and upgraded versions of the project.  If there is any more information that would be helpful, I can post or email it.  Thanks for looking into this,

    Whats wrong?

    Hi,
Follow the Steps below as I managed to configure and Install it with the help of these steps
    1. Things you need before the installation
Before you start installing Oracle, you need to have the following packages:
jdk-1.1.8_v3 - Blackdown Linux port of Sun's Java Development Kit
You can find it at www.blackdown.org
Red Hat Linux 6.2 compatibility packages
    compat-libstdc++-6.2-2.9.0.16
    compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2
    compat-libs-6.2-3
    compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.16
You can find these packages on your RedHat CDs, download them from RedHat site, or from some mirror site.
         glibc-2.1.3-stubs Patch from Oracle.
    2. Pre-install actions
    2.1 Installing compatibility packages
Install all of the RedHat 6.2 compatibility packages mentioned above by issuing rpm -Uvh package_name, e.g:
    # rpm -Uvh /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/compat-libs-6.2-3.i386.rpm
    2.2 Installing Java development kit
According to jdk documentation, we will install it under /usr/local by issuing e.g.
    # tar -xvjf jdk-1.1.8_v3.tar.bz2 -C /usr/local
Note that it is not necessary to add path to the java executables in PATH environment variable, so you can safely keep whatever jdk or jre version you already have.
2.3 User oracle, groups and software mount points
We need to create two groups, oinstall and dba.
The oinstall group will own all the installation files, so user oracle should have the oinstall group as its initial group. We also need one more group, dba, that will have oracle's SYSDBA and SYSOPER privileges granted. User oracle should have the dba group as its supplementary group. Note that all linux users (accounts) that are in group dba will also get these privileges.
    # groupadd oinstall
    # groupadd dba
    # useradd -g oinstall -G dba oracle
    # passwd oracle
Create directories in which database files will reside. Oracle recommends OFA - Optimal Flexible Architecture (see oracle installation guide), but in this example everything will be installed under /home/oracle:
    # mkdir /home/oracle/product
    # cd /home/oracle/product
    # mkdir 8.1.7
    # chown -R oracle.oinstall /home/oracle/*
2.4 Setting the environment for oracle account
We should now login as user oracle and put the following lines at the end of .bash_profile:
    export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5
    source /usr/i386-glibc21-linux/bin/i386-glibc21-linux-env.sh
    export ORACLE_BASE=/home/oracle
    export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/8.1.7
    export ORA_NLS33=$ORACLE_HOME/ocommon/nls/admin/data
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    unset LANG
First two lines modify your environment so that gcc and ld look for glibc 2.1.3 compatibility headers and libraries.
The unset LANG line is there because if LANG is set, java is known to generate JNLS Exceptions.
Listing of valid Oracle NLS Data parameters including supported languages, territories and storage character sets can be found here.
The .bash_profile should now be executed in order to initialize these variables:
    $ source /home/oracle/.bash_profile
or we can just log off and than back on as user oracle.
If you use some shell other than bash (tcsh, sh, ...) all of those variables should be set according to syntax of your shell and put in script that automatically executes at user login.

  • Docked T440S on start up freezes on "Please Wait"

If my T440S is docked and I turn it on it stays at the "Please Wait" with the spinning circle.  If I undock and turn it on and wait until the Cntrl-Alt-Del login message appears and THEN plus it into th dock it work fine.
    Any idea why?
PS- Just installed the fix for the extended monitors blacking out when docked.  Keeping my fingers crossed....

I have a similar problem with my T440s, I am running Windows 7 64bit Enterprise. If I dock it and boot up it freezes at the Windows graphic just before the ctrl-alt-del screen appears. One thing that I noticed is that if I unplug the NIC cable from the dock before I boot up, it will boot up fine. I can then plug the NIC cord back in and everything works fine. I have already updated the firmware on the dock to 2.22, as well as the bios and all drivers with Lenovo System Update.

  • Please wait, Preload Customizations in progress.....

    Hi,
Recently, my hard drive died on my T61 ThinkPad. I have received a new hard drive from Lenovo and having followed all the instructions to install the 4 recovery DVDs that came with the hard drive, I have now reached a stage where the screen reads:
"Please wait, Preload Customizations in progress.....". Now I do realise that this process is very time consuming but can someone reassure me that nothing is wrong and I should be prepared to wait for as long as it takes?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Dadzi

As far as I can tell from my experience depending on your hardware it may take arounf 3 hours or more.
Hope everything is allright wiht your machine as I write.

  • X305-q706 Stuck on splash screen where is says "Qosmio" with please wait...

    Hi,
recently bought a Qosmio x305-Q706. First time I booted it up it gets to the splash screen with Qosmio displayed with "please wait" at the bottom and hangs there forever. The only way I can get it to boot is to cold boot it and mash the F12 key while it's loading the splash screen, if i'm lucky I can get into the option where u can choose which device to boot, and if I manually choose the harddrive I can load windows.
Anyone hear of this issue or how to fix it? I've tried changing settings in the BIOS nothing. To Re-iterate, it's stuck on the pslash screen with Qosmio displayed, and if I press any key on the keyboard once it says "Please wait..." it just brings me to the bios :( .
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello
It is very stupid situation and I really cannot understand why notebook hangs on this start-up level.
Somehow is your Qosmio confused and cannot make decision which device should be first bootable device.
Is some external device connected to your Qosmio notebook?
Maybe BIOS update can help but if you have brand new notebook this is not solution. This is newest notebook and I presume there is latest BIOS version. So, if I were you I would contact either your local dealer and ask for replacement or Toshiba service directly. This behaviour is definitely not strange and notebook somehow hangs on BIOS POST (Power-On-Self-Test).

  • Please wait for the group policy client - shutting down issues

    Hi
I have issues with shutting down machines. When machine is connected to company's LAN everything works fine. However, if machine is connected to VPN - Juniper NC - 1 hour or more it always hangs when it is shutting down. When I shut down the machine
(verbose mode on), first stage is:
Please wait for the system Event Notification service.
    This ends exactly
    after 3 minutes. Next stage:
Please wait for the group policy client windows 7
...is never timed out (even after few hours). Machine never shuts down.
In Application logs there are always these 4 events when machine is unsuccessfully shutting down:
6005: The winlogon notification subscriber <Sens> is taking long time to handle the notification event (Logoff).
4627: The COM+ Event System timed out attempting to fire the Logoff method on event class {D5978650-5B9F-11D1-8DD2-00AA004ABD5E} for publisher  and subscriber .  The subscriber failed to respond within 180 seconds.
The display name of the subscription is "ISensLogon2". The HRESULT was 80010002.
6006: The winlogon notification subscriber <Sens> took 180 second(s) to handle the notification event (Logoff).
6005: The winlogon notification subscriber <GPClient> is taking long time to handle the notification event (Logoff).
Sens is timed out after 3 minutes while there is no 6006 event for GPClient and machine is stuck there for ages (Please wait for the group policy client
stage). I noticed in System logs that machine always hangs if there is this error
5783: The session setup to the Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller \\server for the domain X is not responsive.  The current RPC call from Netlogon on \\machine to \\server has been cancelled.
I made a group policy log and below you can see part of GPSVC log when machine is unsuccessfully shutting down:

I tried with signing out from VPN before shutting down machine, I even switched off WiFi but machine still hung. If i tried to get GP results before shutting down machine it takes ages and it is stuck in "Getting the user name" stage.
Gpupdate /force never updates policy (It stops at Updating Policy...). I tired with installing different hotfixes which did not resolve the issue. I never have any
issues with logging in, no GP scripts are applied when user is logging off or on, no roaming profiles. The only issue is when machine needs to be shut down.
I excluded 1 machine from GP and left it on VPN for a few hours, several times. It always shuts down successfully. I applied GP back one by one and the one which is presumably causing an issue is Avecto which adds admin rights when VPN application
    starts (event 100):
Process started with admin rights added to token.

I guess there is a DNS issues when machine is on VPN which leads that GP cannot be applied / updated. Not sure if or why Avecto would have an impact on this. When machine is trying to shut down it still somehow thinks it is connected to DC. What
I also noticed are several explorer crashes while machine is on VPN.
Does anyone have same issues? All machines are Dell with Juniper NC (VPN).
    Thanks,

    Hi,
According to event log, Winlogon process takes a long time to handle logoff event. That's to say winlogon process is waiting for response to logoff.
According to your description after, this problem is most probably caused by Avecto. You can try to disable or uninstall it temporarily for test.
To make further troubleshoot with this problem, you can try to use WPT (Windows Performance Tool) to make troubleshoot.

  • "Project "name of project" is in an inconsistent state. Please wait...

I seem to be encountering a slight issue with Aperture, where it 'hangs' a dialog comes up (this has happened twice on 2 seperate occassions) where the dialog explains :
"Project "name of project" is in an inconsistent state. Please wait while the inconsistencies are resolved."
there is a cancel button, but it is greyed out. the progress bar is turning, but no progress is indicated. it stays like this and has done for a while. the only thing to do is force the app to quit and restart.
has anyone else had this happen or does anyone know why it is doing this?
I look forward to some replies.
    Paul.

I had something similar happen and the easiset way for me to fix it was to go into the aperture library (right click, select show contents), locate the project in question and trash it.
One thing you need to make sure is that Aperture isn't running. When it starts up it may notice an inconsistancy with the database and rebuild it. Once done (takes only a few seconds) you're all set.
just in case, backup the file, either by copying it to another drive or folder.
