Lenovo B575 Vibration in palm wrest area this normal?

I've never really had a budget line laptop from any brand I usually go with Dell Latitudes or macbooks so this is my first Lenovo and first budget line laptop....that being said the laptop is a dream considering the price except two things.
1. The palm wrest area you can feel a fairly noticeable vibration on both sides is this normal for this model?  I am guessing it is due to the budget plastics that I can feel the HD vibrating? But I'd like to know for sure.
2. The usb ports are INSANELY tight...i thought I may have to try a sledge hammer to push in a wireless mouse dongle..Good lord.

It still does it while on Battery power (i also checked the locla Bestbuy and the display model is the same thing) It could just be me not being used to cheap plastic as i tend to buy expensive business models which are built better.

  • Best option for protecting the palm wrest area from staining?

My new white MacBook is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I currently use a blackbook. Anyway, I have kind of oily skin, and I'm worried about staining on the white plastic on the new computer where my palms rest during use.
What's the best option for protecting this area? I've seen the Marware protection pack, but I've read quite a few bad reviews on it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Dave

I use Mareware's product on my WhiteBook and it is sold at the Apple Store and Apple online. It also comes with a keyboard cover cloth to put on when the Book is closed to protect the screen. The cloth doubles as a soft wipe for the screen. The palm rest is custom fitted for the palm area and is removable. I have removed it twice and stuck it back on. • Using US Mac Pro in EU, computer vibrates when charging. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

I've used other macbooks when traveling in Europe (specifically Italy) in the past with no issues. I have a new (or new-ish OSX 10.7.4) macbook pro. This time when I plug it into charge the whole laptop vibrates. I know that the computer should be capable of converting the voltage, but I don't want there to be a problem and have it fry my battery or even worse, my memory.

Could be that they use a different frequency (50 Hz vs. the standard 60 Hz used in the Americas). If so, no biggie as the power brick is universal and can operate from 100 to 240V, 50 to 60 Hz. Just make sure to use a properly grounded outlet and the grounded cable on the power brick instead of the Godawful "duck's bill" adapter.

  • Are this temperature normal

Are this normal temperature for iMac? my fan is very noise, run about 3000 rpm.
    Note: iMac MD093 21.5" Late 2012

Yes this is bit warm but according to your ambient temperature it seems to be normal. Where do you live?
You can use Macs fan control or any software that can control fan speed and you can assign fans for different temp sensors. That will reduce unnecessary fan rpm.
I am not suggesting to set FAN rpm as per my photo but you may try yourself.

  • How to Install Windows 8.1 Preview on a Lenovo B575

First off, if you try to do it the normal way (eg, download ISO and burn to DVD) it will fail miserably and you will end up with an installation that hangs during a shutdown and/or restart plus some features may not work (like your wireless perhaps) so here's how to get it to work by doing a USB Legacy installation workaround:
1- Download the Win 8.1 ISO and use a utility like ISO to USB to make it bootable via a USB stick.
2- Once installed on the USB stick, delete the EFI folder and the efibootmgr file  (on the new USB stick).
Note: This will force a Legacy USB installation - see image for more info.
3- Complete the installation using the modified USB stick and you will end up with a correct Legacy installation.
Note: It is very important to delete all existing partitions as part of the "clean install" process.
Note: See image of Disk Management below.
Now, there is only one problem left to solve and that is how to create a backup system image because this feature has been removed in 8.1 and doesn't work in Win 8.0 (with a B575) so what to do? The simple alternative is to use a free 3rd party utility like Macrium Reflect Free to create and restore your system images as required. BTW, 8.1 seems to be working nicely but I would not recommend upgrading your primary PC/laptop to take it for a test drive. In my case, I have a test rig for those purposes. Good luck.
BTW, see my tale of woe on installing Win 8.0 (similar to here):
     http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaCentre-Desktops-Home-Servers/Lenovo-B575-Update-to-Windows-8-Issue/t...
Moderator Note; subject edited.  Windows 8.1 is not yet a supported operating system, members installing it do so at their own risk.

Here is a screenshot of the 8.1 Preview on the B575 (desktop view):
    Link to picture
Here is Macrium Reflect Free preparing for a system image backup:
    Link to picture
Now, if you are so inclined to attempt this installation, I would strongly recommend the follow recovery actions:
1-Download Macrium Reflect Free and make a System Image Backup for recovery to Win 7
2-Install Win 8.1 as previously described.
Also note that I have installed the new Classic Shell Beta that works nicely with the return of the Win start button.
Please understand that all information provided is not an encouragement to attempt an installation of the 8.1 Preview on your Lenovo B575; however, it is intended to help you get through this installation if you are a curious sort (like me) and it is also intended to avoid issues when attempting this upgrade  to your B575 laptop. With that said, I would strongly advise against attempting this upgrade; especially if your laptop is considered a primary computer. The only reason I can do this without fear of consequences is that I use my B575 as a "test rig" to assist others with complexed situations so I am "routinely" switching back and forth between Win 7, Win 8.0, and Win 8.1 as needed. So, take heed and good luck with any decisions you may make.

  • Lenovo B575 screen just fades away

New here so here goes.....I own a Lenovo B575, great piece of equipment...BUT on occasion the following happens.
    1.  I am done doing what I wanted so I go to START/LOG OFF.
    2.  Now I want to resume some time later so I click on my personal ICON and the unit comes alive and goes to my screen saver - BUT the image starts to fade away to complete DARK.
    3.  Only way to get back to my screen saver with all my ICONS is to power off the unit and power back on.
    Do I have a problem?????
    Dennis in Texas

    hi xbassman,
    Welcome to the Community.
If you see a dark screen but the LCD backlights are still ON then it's possible that the explorer.exe has crashed.
    Can yu try to:
    1. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open up the Task Manager
    2. On the Task Manager, go to File > New Task (Run...) > type explorer and press Exter (this should restart explorer.exe and give you the desktop)
    3. Update your video card driver from the Lenovo website and install all Windows Update then observe.
    Let me know your findings

  • Windows 8.1-No UEFI firmware setting in advance option. Can't access BIOS with F2-Lenovo B575

There was Windows 7 Home Premium on my machine before (Lenovo B575)and I could access the BIOS and Boot Menu pressing F2 and F12. I installed Windows 8 Enterprise version first and lost the ability to go into the BIOS. I upgraded this version to 8.1 with
same results. In advanced option I don't have UEFI firmware setting tile. So I can't choose to get to the BIOS with this method. I have tried to go into the BIOS at the boot pressing F2 and many other keys with no result. The OS in both cases 8 and 8.1 hung
several times during the installation process. I had to manually reboot machine during installation several times. After the windows were installed the system still can't shut down or restart normally and I have played with different settings in power / shutdown
option. Please help. I need to be able to access my BIOS at boot or Windows level. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi,
The method to enter into advanced boot option in Windows 8\8.1 is different from Windows 7, pressing F12 during boot may not work because the booting process in Windows 8\8.1 is too fast. Here's an document from Lenovo website:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en/documents/ht081446

Please Note the sentence at the end:  Lenovo preloaded Windows 8/8.1 is set up with UEFI boot. If your computer is not fitted with UEFI boot, you can only enter BIOS setup or UEFI firmware via  the traditional method.
that means If you installed Windows 8\8.1 the U/EFI way you should be able to access UEFI options,
To check if you boot UEFI way, run in admin command prompt:
    bcdedit
    for example:
    If path ends in
.efi - you boot U/EFI way, and path ends in .exe - you boot normal BIOS way.

  • HOW DO I GET MY PHONE TO VIBRATE? ALL SETTINGS ARE CORRECT

my phone is not vibrating. how do i fix this? all settings are correct

    Hey there kgoncalves23,
It sounds like the the vibration function of the iPhone is not working correctly.
I have some recommendations to help you out here. First, connect the iPhone to the wall charger that came with it, and reset the iPhone with this article and then test the vibration again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If your device stops responding, you can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If the issue persists, I would next backup your phone to iTunes and restore it. Set it up as a new device, and test the vibration again. When it works, restore your backup and verify it is still working. This article will help with that:

  • Truly doesn't fit anywhere: Palm rest area question.

The palm rest area, toward the bottom of the computer, has started to peel/chip away.
Literally. If I got a flashlight, I could see into my laptop.
I was just wondering if this piece of plastic (that also surrounds all of the keys and touch pad) could be replaced?
It isn't a cleanliness issue. It is an overuse issue. I love my MacBook. It would be awesome to replace it and have it appear like new even though it is two years old.

You can get it replaced but I don't know how much it would be.

  • New C20's Are super loud! Over 65db! Is this normal?

We just recieved two new C20's.  However, they are super loud.  I've measured the sound at around 65db.  I've set the fan mode to "quiet" in the bios, but that made no difference.
    Is this normal?

Thank you for being patient with my clumsy entrance into this forum.  Please be aware that I am first a database manager and second a PC tech. My network and hardware manager has thrown up his arms on this and only my tenacity, some PC maintenance experience and a brain qualify me to get to the bottom of this issue.  I am having to look a lot of stuff up that you might consider common knowledge for someone taking on this task. This is also our first Windows 7 machine.
That said, here is what I have in response:
    1) The heat sink fan assembly (per the user guide identification) is plugged into the "brown" board header
    2) The rear fan assemblies(2) (per the user guide identification) are plugged into a white board header in their vicinity. They are the noise makers.
    3) BIOS Version/Date    LENOVO 61KT43AUS, 8/31/2010 The current version is 61KT45A so I downloaded the files per instructions on the website. However, it is much easier to say, "Have you tried flashing to the latest level..." than it is to do it. WINPHLASH failed on what the error message says is a permissions issue but is not. I will have to risk turning my brand new machine into a brick the old fashioned way, with a bootable CD. Since for me that will take an hour or more for research and execution,  I will let you know how it goes.
    4) The "driver" I mentioned is
LENOVO Fan Speed Control Driver for Windows           version 1.0.1.9, 07/31/2009
    ================================================================================
      Operating Systems supported
      Windows(R) XP/2000/2003/Vista/Win 7 Driver. 64bit.
      Process provider supported
AMD(R)    OOPS! Not applicable to my machine's processor, so I have uninstalled it.

  • (2) Lenovo B575 Windows wont start

bought lenovo b575 last week in Bestbuy as a gift for my father-in-law. Since it was on sale, I decided to get one for my self too. Both laptops were working the way they suppose to work until yesterday, mine turns on but  windows wont open, and then i recieved a call from my father-in-law saying the same thing happen to his laptop..
Any idea? Is this a common problem w/ lenovo?  Not even a week old from the date  purchased...Should I call Lenovo or Bestbuy w/ this kind of issue?

  • Discolorization around palm rest area

I don't know if this issue is new, I found the palm rest area (right to the trackpad) is seemingly discolorizing, it is a nickel sized shiny spot which resembles oil grease. My MBP is half a year old and I have noticed in this a few weeks ago and it seems like this is getting worse.
Has anyone heard of this issue? Is there a way to minimize the damage and is this covered until Apple warranty?
    Thanks for answering

It is a problem that occurs for some people either with a lot of use, constantly resting their hands in one place and/or the acids in skin secretions. As to cleaning it, care should be taken as the aluminium layer is fairly thin. I believe I read somewhere that someone tried an eraser -- safer than cleaning fluids which themselves might be corrosive.
To minimise, wiping or washing hands might be a help (I am not suggesting that you have a cleanliness problem whatsoever -- as you will see by my location, I live in a fairly warm place and my hands sweat while I am working), also wiping the area round the trackpad with a soft cloth, plus adjusting the way you rest your hands on the computer.
As to warranty, this just is not covered -- normal wear and tear.

I'm not sure if I am writing this in the correct area (this is my second attempt at posting a question), but I have a comment about a recent store experience in Sandusky, OH.  I am not a current Verizon customer, but I was visiting friends and we had to go to the store to get something taken care of.  First off, allow me to compliment the nice, new store.  Boy, its changed over the past few years ago when I was in last. My comment is mostly directed to one specific employee.  When we entered the store, we were "welcomed" by a sloppy dressed gentlemen (his clothes were probably two sizes two small), which really struck me as unusual because every other employee in the store was dressed really "casual" with nice sporty clothing and red shoes.  Either way, after being entered into the computer, the gentlemen told me to wander around or have a seat in the back and someone would be with us soon.  As soon as we walked away from the door, the gentlemen handed his "duty" off to another employee who took over welcoming people coming in.  For whatever reason, I felt glued to him as he stood out to me.  After leaving the door, he immediately went to the back of the room, hunched over a cabinet, where he stood for the next 30+ minutes playing on his phone, frowning and not speaking to anyone around him.  Again, I found this unusual because everyone else was overly friendly and smiling.  I finally decided to walk by and see what he was doing.  It appeared that he was texting someone.  He paid no attention to me whatsoever as I walked by, just continued to frown and text on his phone.  I did take not of his name tag for future reference.  His name was Justin.  I am assuming he's the manager of the location as he was just standing around while everyone else worked.  I do understand that managers aren't necessarily doing the "dirty work" of the employees, but he could have at least found some better fitting clothing (I find it hard to believe Verizon doesn't supply it), been a little friendly, pretended to be busy, and not been texting the entire time we were there.  Again, the store was great, the other employees were very helpful, but the manager seemed to be doing is own little thing and it didn't put off a good image for the rest of the store.  Just wanted to share my comments.
