Lenovo B590 discharge battery when off

Good morning, I've experienced very annoying problem with Lenovo B590 Laptop (20206 with HM70 chipset). Laptop discharges a battery (about 10% per 24h) when it's off (power off or hibernate).
I disabled:
- WAKE ON LAN settings in BIOS
- Wake on * in network adapter properties (LAN and WLAN).
- Allow this device to wake the computer (LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth)
Only option I found so far - eject battery for a second after power off. In such case, no discharge occurs.
I really appreciate, if you can help me with this issue.
Thank you!

Hi rinkar,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,
Can I ask you to Enter BIOS and Return the BIOS to the factory default settings by pressing F9 inside the BIOS and then F10 to save and exit,
And then please if you have Lenovo Energy management in your application list please uninstall Lenovo Energy management and restart the system and then reinstall it back from the below link:
Windows8:
Lenovo Power Management
Windows7:
Lenovo Power Management
Hope the information helps. Let us know.
Regards
Soha

  • Macbook Pro discharges battery when turned off

I've had my Macbook Pro 15" for close to a year now (Mid-2010 revision), and this issue has only happened a couple of times, where when after shutting down the machine at night (full shut-down, not sleep), I turn it back on in the morning to find that the battery has been completely discharged. I thought that the first time, which happened some time ago, probably a few months back, had been me accidentally leaving the computer on running a program which drained the battery, but the most recent incident I am fairly certain that the machine was powered down fully before unplugging the power cord and any other attachments for the night.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and if it is a major problem? I don't have AppleCare, but may consider getting it before my warranty is up if needed (in about a month) to diagnose/fix the problem with the least trouble/cost. Not afraid to open up my machine if the forum members suggest it, but because the problem is impossible for me to replicate, any solutions (baseless or not) may or may not help and I won't be able to confirm it.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Steve

Battery health is normal, 97-100% when fully charged and discharges normally when under regular use with the power cord unplugged (about 5-6 hours of usage when under moderate load, can sleep for 6-7 hours and only see a 2-4% drop). WIll post info from the system profiler in case it helps.

  • Battery discharges abnormally when system is unplugged.

    Hi,
I buy a new Lenovo T61. Battery discharges when system is unplugged. In evrey 24Hours it  discharged about 30%.
    Thanks

Are you turning your T61 off or are you using stand-by mode as this will drain the battery?

  • Lenovo notebook E540 Battery drains when it is not powered on

Lenovo Notebook E540 battery drains when it is not powered on. My colleague said that there is a cloud connection being connected during power off and it consumes power. Is that possible? Any resolution?

    Hi Kingchechan,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As far as I know only the Windows update will be accessing to the server, or might be any other 3rd party cloud related application, which might be accessing to the cloud server.
Did you check disabling USB always on in BIOS & Wake On Lan from Windows AND BIOS
Check running command powercfg /devicequery wake_armed to see if any device is programmed to power on the laptop might be this is consuming battery power.
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

  • Lenovo T410s, T420s, T430s, Ultrabay battery falls off

    Hi,
At the company i am working at we have bought a whole bunch of T410s, T420s and some brand new T430s with a extra battery (ultrabay) instead of a DVD player, but for some reason the extra battery falls off at random when you lift the laptop. This problem is not on every laptop but i'ts on 3/10 of them.
It seems like the lock for the dvd/battery is broken, but I've open it up and made sure nothing was broken. Nada, but on one of the computers (a t430s) the battery connector was broken and some small parts of the battery was still stuck on it, like someone has bruteforced the battery to connect to the computer to not fall off.
Might this hardware problem be a cause of wrong batterys for the model? Or is this factory-related?
Ideas on how to fix this or is it just to send them to lenovo for repair?

I've found a way to start battery charge process - turn off (disable) BIOS -> I/O -> "Ultrabay CD/HDD". But the problem is that charge current is too small - it starts at 0.10A, then (very quick) drops to 0.01A value and stops when 2%  of capacity. What is this? I need to work (I'm a microelectronics engineer), not to repair notebook.
PS I'm monitoring current at Power Manager software.

  • Macbook discharging battery even when shutdown

I have a new macbook. It will charge 100%, and will run on battery, but the battery will also discharge even when computer is shut down. I have calibrated the battery, checked the energy settings and updated the software.
So, even if I fully charge the macbook (100%/5 green lights), shut it down (not sleep), the next day it will not start off of the battery. When you plug it in it indicates 0% battery charge. This has happened twice- it never has not happened.
    Help.

I've had this exact same problem. It's happened twice. Honestly I think it's possibly a fire hazzard. I shut down the machine. It was OFF. Black screen, sleep light was OFF, or at least it looked to be very much off. I put it in my crumpler pack before boarding the plane (again, no indication that it was sleeping, etc.). A few hours into the flight I go to pull it out of my pack and the backpack is BURNING HOT The sleep light at this point was solid. Opening the lid did nothing, it wouldn't start up, etc. After pressing and holding the power button and then restarting it came back to life and then threw the following error:

This definitely needs a fast fix.

  • My iPhone 3GS battery loses at least 30% charge when off for at least an hour

My iPhone 3GS battery loses at least 30% charge when off for at least an hour, I took it in to an apple retail store at the end of 2010 and they told me it was fine but advised I restore and set up as a new iPhone which I did, it got better for about a month then went back to normal losing battery. I have no hardware coverage left and my specs are: iPhone 3GS 16gb  IOS 4.3.3 white. I have had it since December 2009.

I'm afraid I don't. I don't know if the phone is still within warranty. I don't know which country you are in. I don't know what third party repair companies charge where you are.
Hang on - I do know one thing: if your phone is still covered by warranty - it's free!

  • Battery turns off suddenly and when restarted the date comes up as 1969

My PowerbookG4 will shut down suddenly saying there is no more battery left when it really has around 30% left.
When restarted it comes up with an error message saying that some programs may run erratically and the date and time are set at Wed. December 31st, 1969 at 4:00pm. Most times when it connects to the internet it goes to the normal day and time, however some times it has to be corrected manually.
Why is the battery shutting off and the time going crazy?

The battery might be in not good condition.

  • HP Envy Battery Problems - not charging when on, charging fully when off

I've had my HP Envy laptop for about 3 months, and yesterday I noticed that when it was plugged in it wasn't charging (the battery icon says "plugged in, not charging"). I turned it off overnight, plugged in, and this morning the battery was fully charged. It only seems to not charge when it is turned on. I have tried removing the battery, turning on, deleting the ACPI-compliant control method battery, turning off, and turning back on again (as advised in other forum responses), but with no joy. At first I thought it could either be a battery issue, but the fact it fully charged overnight whilst off would lead me to believe it's not, and is probably a software / settings issue. Any ideas please, I've run out of google search ideas!!

  • T420s drains battery when turned off

    Hi,
I am changing my T400s to T420s and during setup of a new machine I got some strange sindrom. T420s uses battery when it is turned off. To check yesterday afternoon I put on post-it note that it had 86% battery and this morning when I turned it on it was on 67% battery.
I turned off always on USB when power off.
Any ideas what is draining battery?

    1. automatic updating or backup
    2. other scheduled tasks
    3. wake on lan
    4. fingerprint reader

  • Apple ipod touch 5 losing battery even when off

I have an ipod Touch 5g on operating system ios 7.1.2 and non jailbroken. Recently, the battery has begun draining rapidly (it lasts about 2 hours on the usual apps and websites I go on rather than the normal 5-6 hours). It has also been losing battery when completely off, much like it would when on. The charging process is also rather slow.
My ipod is only two months old, and this happened once before, although once the battery had run out in the morning and I recharged it, it was okay again, but the same thing has now happened again and hasn't fixed.
I've tried resetting and restoring my ipod with no improvements, as well as trying other backups to check that one wasn't corrupt. I also tried turning off elements of icloud, because I googled my issue and some people suggested that may help; it was to no avail.
I also keep getting a diagnostic that says something like this and was wondering if this was anything to do with the problem:
    {"os_version":"iPhone OS 7.1.2 (11D257)","name":"Reset count","bug_type":"115"}
Hopefully, someone can shed some insight on this situation. I'm still under warranty so if a trip to the genius bar is needed, I guess that is where I shall have to go. Thanks to anyone who helps.

I've turned all my background app refresh off now, although I only had one on and this was never a problem before. Also, my battery is always on the lowest setting even before there was a problem with the battery.
I removed all my mail accounts and readded them, after a pop up came up about them one morning. This has significantly improved my battery life when on and off, however my battery still drops a little faster than usual (especially when off).
I've started to get something like this in diagnostics (about battery):
    {"os_version":"iPhone OS 7.1.2 (11D257)","bug_type":"120"}
i'm unsure whether this has anything to do with the problem but I thought I'd add it to this discussion in case.
I'm also thinking about updating to ios8 to see if this helps my issue.

  • Using Hold Button When Off Eating Battery?

Hi All. I recharged my Nano on Saturday. Used it for about 30 minutes of Sunday and not at all on Monday. I enabled the hold button to prevent it from coming on accidentally when moving around. I took it with me to gym this morning, disabled the hold button and switched it on. I saw that the battery meter was all the way down and about 2 seconds later it switched off and didn't turn back on. Any idea what the problem could be?
I didn't get a chance to recharge it as I had to rush to work afterward but will try tonite. I hope it comes back on while charging!
    Cheers,
    CL

Hey there, the same exact thing happens to me. I just got my Nano on Christmas day and have been using it for short periods of time. I did not do a FULL 4 hour charge on the battery when I first bought it, but I have been charging it a little bit every day. For the last 2 days, I will use the iPod for maybe 1-2 hrs a day, turn it off, with the hold button enabled, and then when I go to turn it back on, there is absolutely no battery left, and I have to plug in the USB charger to even get it to turn on.
If anyone has any advice, do you think doing a full overnight charge would help??? I am an iPod "virgin". haha
    Thanks very much in advance!!!

  • Lenovo B590 big problem, HELP!!!

    Hello,
I have big problem with my Lenovo B590 20206 laptop. [windows 7 pro 64 bit installed]
After turn my laptop to standby mode (manualy or after 1 hour without use laptop) and when I want to wake up laptop all what I see is black screen and I must hold push power button for 5 second to force off.
BTW when laptop is in standby mode everything looks good, led is blinking and after pushing any button I hear that fan and hard disk is starting but all what i got is black screen, even CTRL + ALT + DEL doesnt work.
I've tried replace RAM, reinstalled alot of drivers but without success. Windows 7 of course works perfect, only sleep mode (standby] doesnt work.
Another problem is that i cant update bios, my current is 1.10 which is not recent imho (maybe bios update would help with problem above?). Ive downloaded  BIOS Update Utility for Windows 7 from lenovo site but when i tried to update i ve got a warning like this:
so i tried to update from Windows 7 and BIOS Update Utility for CD ISO image and i got error "THE SYSTEM PROGRAM FILE IS DAMAGED. THE PROCESS HAS BEEN CANCELED."
My last question is about disk replacement in that lenovo b590, original 500gb disk is 7mm high, can I replace it with 9,5mm disk?
Any help would be appreciated, sorry for my english btw.
