Lenovo B590 laptops reformatting

Before I started to work where I am, my company ordered a dozen Lenovo B590 laptops with a Windows 7 Pro OS. This was about 1.5 years ago. It looks like their default operating system is Windows 8 and someone installed 7 after-market and I suspect these were refurbs. They needed to be 7 since some programs that were needed would not run on 8. These computers have been nothing but trouble. We only got factory restore discs of Windows 8 and had to call Lenovo to get 7 ones. I thought I was finally ready to reformat all these, but I got another nasty surprise. To clarify these disks, there is one called the product recovery DVD without a number. Then there are two more. One is labeled one (and 2 of 2 for some reason) that says it is Windows 7 recovery media for windows 7 products. The this is labeled 2 and says is is the operating recovery disc windows 7 sp 1 and is also labeled 2 of 2. The OS software Lenovo sent me is 7 Ultimate, not pro. I tried to reformat one laptop and it is pretty **bleep**ed up. I put in the disc labeled one, but it ran into the activation problem. There is no sticker with any number on the **bleep** things. I tried the Jelly Bean software and no dice. I then though maybe I have to put the product recovery dvd. I put that in and it was asking for a second disc. It put in the one labeled 1 and it didn't like it so I tried 2 but the same thing happened. I then told it to cancel and it keeps giving me a menu to choose where to boot from but never boots no matter what selection.I didn't think reformatting these would be this difficult. I have no idea what to do at this point. These were nothing but trouble in the beginning and it keeps getting worse and worse. I wish I can return these but there is no way at this point. Is there anything you can suggest?I can't seem to find any good help on this anywhere and frankly am getting quite frustated since reformatting these should not be this difficult.

Какие-то обновления устанавливались перед тем, как wifi адаптер пропал? BIOS, OS?

  • Lenovo B590 discharge battery when off

Good morning, I've experienced very annoying problem with Lenovo B590 Laptop (20206 with HM70 chipset). Laptop discharges a battery (about 10% per 24h) when it's off (power off or hibernate).
    I disabled:
    - WAKE ON LAN settings in BIOS
    - Wake on * in network adapter properties (LAN and WLAN).
    - Allow this device to wake the computer (LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth)
Only option I found so far - eject battery for a second after power off. In such case, no discharge occurs.
I really appreciate, if you can help me with this issue.
    Thank you!

    Hi rinkar,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,
Can I ask you to Enter BIOS and Return the BIOS to the factory default settings by pressing F9 inside the BIOS and then F10 to save and exit,
And then please if you have Lenovo Energy management in your application list please uninstall Lenovo Energy management and restart the system and then reinstall it back from the below link:

  • Installing another OS on Lenovo B590 (model name 6274)

    Hi
We recently bought a Lenovo B590 with pre-installed Windows 8, which we absolutely hated of several reasons.
We haven't used the laptop since we bought it a month ago because of Windows8, so we decided to install Windows 7 or Windows XP as an alternative, as these are the installation discs we have from other laptops.
Now, we couldn't get it to boot from CD, but have figured ot how to avoid the UEFI boot by selecting legacy in the BIOS and choosing CD / DVD as primary boot option.
After that we wiped the computer completely with Dereks Boot and Nuke and figured we then could boot from CD.
Because we haven't used the laptop, there was no data we would miss, and therefore we haven't made a windows 8 recovery CD before wiping the computer.
We then figured with BIOS set to boot from CD and no OS on the laptop, it would be piece of cake to install one of our Windows systems.
However, when trying to boot from CD the booting seems to begin, but then immidiately states that there have been an error, or returns to boot menu, depending on the installation disc.
When using a Windows 7 installation disc it just returns to boot menu again, without seeming to start booting.
Then you can select CD again and again return to menu again, soforth...
When using a Windows XP installation disc, it seems to start booting and states that an error has been found and windows has been closed down to prevent damage. Technical data: STOP:0X0000007B (0XF78D2524,0XC0000034,0X00000000, 0X00000000)
It should be mentioned that the Windows 7 installation disc is originally for a Medion PC and the XP installation disc for a Dell laptop, but we didn't think this was a problem.
So - what can we do now?
Is it even possible to install Windows 7 (preferably) or Windows XP on the Lenovo B590?
If not, how do we get windows 8 back again, so it will at least be functioning.

It's a weekend, forum traffic tends to be a little slow.

  • Lenovo b590 power management not working

Hello! I have a problem with my laptop, a lenovo b590. (pentium 2020m, 4gb ram, intel hd graphics): the Lenovo Power Management driver not working....
Is exactly the same as here, but, the only difference is that I use windows 8.1:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/Lenovo-B590-Lenovo-Power-Management-driver-no...
As no one could solve the problem there, I thought it may be more visible now and someone can help me
So, how can I solve this problem?
Edit: I tried everything that was said there, to no avail ...
    Sorry for my english..

i'm not sure if there's any suitable cooling pads for your computer but cleaning the fan could be another solution. it may work but it may also void your warranty.
due to it's probably hardware issue, at this point i don't think i have much suggestions for you.

  • Lenovo B590 big problem, HELP!!!

    Hello,
I have big problem with my Lenovo B590 20206 laptop. [windows 7 pro 64 bit installed]
After turn my laptop to standby mode (manualy or after 1 hour without use laptop) and when I want to wake up laptop all what I see is black screen and I must hold push power button for 5 second to force off.
BTW when laptop is in standby mode everything looks good, led is blinking and after pushing any button I hear that fan and hard disk is starting but all what i got is black screen, even CTRL + ALT + DEL doesnt work.
I've tried replace RAM, reinstalled alot of drivers but without success. Windows 7 of course works perfect, only sleep mode (standby] doesnt work.
Another problem is that i cant update bios, my current is 1.10 which is not recent imho (maybe bios update would help with problem above?). Ive downloaded  BIOS Update Utility for Windows 7 from lenovo site but when i tried to update i ve got a warning like this:
so i tried to update from Windows 7 and BIOS Update Utility for CD ISO image and i got error "THE SYSTEM PROGRAM FILE IS DAMAGED. THE PROCESS HAS BEEN CANCELED."
My last question is about disk replacement in that lenovo b590, original 500gb disk is 7mm high, can I replace it with 9,5mm disk?
Any help would be appreciated, sorry for my english btw.

  • Lenovo B590 missing wireless antenna

    Hi!
Alright, so I have been investigating some problems with wireless functionality on these Laptops.
I have 3 B590's in my production environment and many users complain about the poor wireless performance.
After rummaging through some other threads on this forum, I found a few threads that matched the issues I was having and many pointed to a need to open the case and reseat (or in my case seat) the antenna pigtail onto the wifi card.
So I pop open my case, easily locate the wireless card and find that my antenna connection isn't even seated on the wireless card.  *fail lenovo*.  This is a laptop that was unboxed and fired up not even a month ago.
Anywho, the real problem/concern I have hear is that there is only one (1) antenna connection. In all my experiance with wireless hardware, their should always be two (2) connecters.  I found a hardware maintenance manual for the B590
    http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b590_hmm_en.pdf
that clearly shows on pages 50 and 77 two antenna connectors.  I also found a few independent YouTube videos of people who brokedown B590 laptops fresh out of the box and in these videos I clearly saw two antenna connections (one white calbe, one black cable).  On the laptop sitting in my lap, I only have the black connector.
So.....where is my second antenna connection?

Also, and I hope this doesn;t sound rude, but I am not looking for community advise unless its pointing me toward a statement made by Lenovo.  I am hoping that someone with Lenovo will reply to this.
But if anyone has experianced the same issue, or has an idea where I can find this missing cable in the case somewhere feel free to chime in.  But I am looking to get some offical word (previously stated or otherwise) from Lenovo on this one.

  • Lenovo B590 Memory

First of all, I hope this is the right section for the Lenovo B series laptops, particularly the Lenovo B590. If it's the wrong place I apologize.
Does anyone know what RAM is supported in the Lenovo B590? Specifically the 20208 model. I got one of these laptops through my school and it only has 2GB of RAM which simply isn't enough when you are used to a computer rocking 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Does anyone know what the supported RAM specs are for this model Lenovo? I tried to Google it, and I got to Crucials website where they have a set that is 2x4GB, CL11, 1.35v, and 204 pin, which I assumed would be the recommended specs to shoot for, but I wanted to be absolutely positive before I dumped money into some RAM kits.
Is Crucial the main RAM supplier for these laptops? Also would memory with a different CL work? I use this computer exclusively for school work, so the cheaper the better for this computer (long as it's of good quality). Does it have to be 1.35v RAM or would 1.5v RAM work as well?
I was searching Newegg and found Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BF160B, CL11, 1.35v for $67.99. Would this type of RAM be suppoprted with this laptop? Looks almost identical in terms of specs to the memory on Crucials website for $22 cheaper. There is even cheaper RAM, but it's 1.5v RAM, and I want to make sure I know what will positively work before I drop the money.
I'm a noob when it comes to laptop hardware. I've always dealt with desktops. This is the first laptop I've ever owned so I'm learning as I go when it comes to laptop hardware, so any information would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi Shashi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m glad to inform you that any RAM/Memory with the specifications provided in the image below will be compatible with the computer.

    Help solve the following problem:
    lenovo b590 20206.

    a blue screen A5(http://lenovo-forums.ru/uploads/monthly_07_2014/post-108705-0-61958400-1404986732.jpg)
Other systems (Win7, Win8) installed and working properly.
Please give me the previous firmware.

Hi nazalin33, welcome to the forums,
the reason you are most likely experiencing the blue screen with Windows XP is because XP probably doesn't have the required SATA driver in order to recognize the hard drive properly which Windows 7 & 8 do have.
    It is possible to install the driver during the installation of Windows XP, instructions on how to do this can be found in the driver readme file;
Driver & Readme download page;  http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-b-series-laptops/lenovo-b...
Alternatively it may be possible to change how the SATA drive is recognized in BIOS by, if the option is there, by changing the AHCI setting to compatability which hopefully can be found in the BIOS configuration menu.

  • Problema para arrancar lenovo b590 (UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME)

    Hola a tod@s,
    ¡Resuelto!
    Ir a solución.

  • Flash crashes Windows 7 Pro 64 bit IE11. Lenovo X301 laptop with Intel Graphics. Confirmed it happen

My company has several Lenovo X301 laptops with Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) running IE11. I load clean versions of Flash onto these laptops (latest version 12.0.0.77) and every single one of these laptops crashes when opening IE11.
One thing I noticed when I used the help.adobe.com site. Using IE11, the box which "dynamically displays the following information" shows the correct version of Flash player and OS but the browser says "None". If I run Chrome, it says the correct Flash version but the OS says "Windows 7 (32 bit) and the browser correctly says "Google Chrome".
The crash report for IE11, module name is Flash32_12_0_0_77.ocx.
    1. Why is the program unable to determine the correct browser?
    2. Why does it appear that a 64 bit program is trying to use a 32 bit plug-in?
    Any ideas?

    1. "User-Agent Strings"
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.Microsoft has no immediate plans to "fix" the mess they've created.
    2. Chrome is a 32 bit browser, and will identify as such, including the plug-ins in it.
IE uses the plug-in from the SyWOW64 folder (WOW=Windows On WIndows - which runs 32 bit apps in the 64 bit environment)

As you know - Microsoft forced the 8.1 upgrade on 8.0 users. The Lenovo Z500 laptop has a display problem (dim lit monitor) once 8.1 installed. There appears to be no firmware / software fix - so what is the solution ? In the event there is a hardware swap

Or Microsoft Operating System Fix ?

Look at britishdez link, it says:

  • 27" iMac as monitor for Lenovo T400 laptop (VGA out)

I thought I read that it would be possible to use the iMac as an external display. I bought a cheap cable that is Mini-DisplayPort (M) to VGA (F), and I also bought a VGA cable (M-M). I plugged the cables into each other, then into the iMac, then into the Lenovo T400 laptop I have to use for work.
The iMac didn't react at first, then, when I pressed cmd-F2, the display on the iMac changed resolutions to something like 640x480, but was still displaying the Mac. I looked at the Display control panel on the Lenovo and it could see that a monitor was plugged in, and could see what size/resolution it was. However, even when I clicked "extend desktop onto this display", it still didn't display anything from the PC onto the iMac screen.
All went back to normal when I unplugged the cables.
    Thoughts?
Sure, it could be the cable(s), but I was intrigued that the Windows Display Control Panel could see that there was a monitor there.

I read that. It says, among other things "using a Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cable or using a converter that converts other electrical, video, and audio protocols from another source device to Mini DisplayPort compliant signals. (Cables and converters available separately.)"
A 'simple' VGA to Mini DisplayPort adapter is not sufficient to provide "+Mini DisplayPort compliant signals+" as mentioned in that article.
For that you would need an Analog-To-Digital converter and those are ranging in about USD 200 or more.
Are you saying that the Mini DisplayPort adaptors that go from Mini DisplayPort to VGA, which I bought, only go from Mac to VGA monitor, rather than in both directions?
Yes, that's exactly the point (see above).
    Sorry
