Lenovo D20 XP64 Bit Installation

Okay, I am going crazy with this now. I have built at least nine D10 Desktops without any problems but now I am trying to get XP 64 bit on a D20 Model: 4155- 39U.
I have tried so many different options in the BIOS with so many different combinations:
Changed the SATA mode to Compatible
Disabled the Marvell SATA/SAS Controller
Left the Marvell Enabled but disabled the Option ROM Scan.......you name it I have tried it.
When I put in the Lenovo XP 64 Bit Recovery CD, I boot from the CD and select F6 to specify an Additional Drive. I download both the Marvell and Intel drivers but not matter what I try it will either Blue Screen or tell me it can not find a HDD.
It got to the point where I flashed the BIOS to get back to square one. But still I run in to the same problem.
I have seen similar posts on this Forum but still havent found a solution.
Any help would be great, Thanks.

Wow....i guess i was a bit premature on the issue.  I did resolve it.  Here are the steps i took and the .OEM text file as well.
boot up as you would to install XP with the Drivers on a seperate drive.  Make sure the Marvell drivers are on the root of the drive with the Intel driver.  Make sure you have the correct one, x86 in the root and leave the x64 ones in the folder in case you need those later on.
Hit f6 to specify the additional drivers, choose the intel one first, mine was the Intel ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller, then select the appropriate Marvell driver.
if it doent work then its trial and error on the Intel drivers.  took me 6 reboots to get here to figure the hardware.
here is the .OEM file:

  • Cannot Access the Service Partition after installing Lenovo Driver and Application Installation

I recently upgraded my Lenovo 3000 H210, M/T 5355-2NU from Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) to Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) with the media received through the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Fulfillment Program.
I installed the 64-bit version of the Common Components Installation v1.0.0.8 and restarted the computer and then installed the 64-bit version of the Lenovo Driver and Application Installation program, v5.1.0.0900.  After
restarting the computer, I receive a message box stating "Cannot access the Service Partition".  If I click on
Lenovo Driver and Application Installation on the Start Menu, I receive an error that the installation has not
completed.  Restart to complete the installation.  If I restart the computer, I am back to the first error.
Any idea how to resolve this situation?
Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I am having the exact same problem. It's driving me nuts. I also downloaded and attempted to reinstall the factory software from Lenovo's site. It installs but will not launch, giving me the following error message: "This software is for intallation on a Lenovo computer." Or words to that effect.
Hopefully someone knows the answer. Tried tech support twice. Ugh... Thanks in advance.

I have the answer and this might be useful for any one else wondering about this in the future. If it helped you or explained what you wanted to know. Replay to the post pls
It's quite easy actually. First have your "iTunes Library Extras", "iTunes Library Genius", "iTunes Library", and "iTunes Music Library" backed up. Download ans install iTunes 64-bit. I don't know what's so 64-bit about iTunes 64 since Win7 reports it as a 32-bit application in the task manager. But anyway. Install iTunes 64 and launch it. If you migrated your library to another drive like me go to settings in iTunes and change the directory to your location. Close iTunes. Replace the newly created files with your backed up files. Launch iTunes. iTunes will load and then update your library and from there you are set to go! so basically it is just like a normal upgrade. But if you hesitated to go from 32 to 64 like me, here is your answer.
By the way. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit with iTunes 64-bit and it works without problems and syncing with my iPod Touch also works flawlessly.

  • How to find out if the Oracle is a 64 or 32-bit installation

    Hi,
I have a customer who has a 64-bit enabled Solaris 8 machine with an Oracle installed on it.
Is there a simple and quick way to find if the installed Oracle is 64 or 32-bit installation. Something like a v$ table.
    Thanks,
    Tal ([email protected]).

    Hi,
if the database is running, start a sqlplus session. You will see in the banner something like '64Bit Production' (for 64-bit) or only 'Production' for 32-bit. Alternatively, especially if the database is not running, go to $ORACLE_HOME/bin and type 'file oracle'. The returning strings shows either 32-bit or 64-bit.
    Best regards
    Werner

  • 64 bit or 32 bit installation of oracle 9i - which one?

hi there - i have a sun solaris ultra 60 with 2gb ram and 32gb hdd and solaris 9-64bit on it. should i install oracle 9i 32 bit or 64 bit? Also after trying to install the 32 bit server version of Oracle 9i on the same machine we noticed a severe decrease in speed on the server but uptime doesnt show any processes taking over the machine. Any ideas? has it got anything to do with 32 bit 64 bit installation distributions for either oracle or solaris??
    thanks in advance guys

If you have an instance running on it, you can query the v$version view. This will give your the 32/64 bit info.
    SQL> select * From v$version;
    Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production
    CORE 8.1.7.0.0 Production

ur problem is that u install latest version and now u trying to installing old version.

SaqibNo need to install a fresh OS. That's like tearing your house down just because you wired a lamp wrong and blew a circuit breaker.
There are MeaLink notes on how to eradicate an Oracle install from Windows, but it boils down to this:
    Stop all Oracle services
    In the registery:
    - Delete all oracle services from the register (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
    - Delete the entire Oralce folder from HKLM\Software
    reboot
Delete the ORACLE_HOME directory and any other Oracle related directories/files. Offhand, it seems like there is an Oracle directory under Program Files.
    reboot

    Hi,
I have installed a 32 bit program that uses a 16 bit installer on Windows XP machines.  The software developer of this program is out of business.
Can Windows 8.1 32 bit run a 16 bit installer?  If not, any suggestions as to how I might install this program?
    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi
You need to  to install Windows XP in Hyper-V, because start from windows 8, they no longer support 16bit program.
     or you already try DOSBox?

can you download a 32 bit installer for Photoshop elements 12 to install on a 64 bit system (windows 7). Thanks in advance

yes, if you follow all 7 steps you can directly download a trial here:  Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 Direct Download Links, Premiere too | ProDesignTools
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a problem starting the download, you didn't follow all 7 steps, or your browser does not accept cookies.
the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

  • 64 Bit Installer says it's made for 32 bit and tells me to install 64 bit

I used PC Mover to clone my previous XP laptop so the version of iTunes wasn't really made for the 64-bit OS of my new laptop and hasn't worked since. I try every couple of months to fix the problem before giving up out of pure exhaustion! I download the new 10.1 for 64 bit operating systems and during install it tells me that this installer is for 32 bit systems and I need to install the 64 bit installer!!! Nothing works!!! Does anyone have a clue how to make iTunes work again or where I can get a 64 bit installer that my computer will recognize as a 64 bit installer???

I download the new 10.1 for 64 bit operating systems and during install it tells me that this installer is for 32 bit systems and I need to install the 64 bit installer!!!
Yeah, it's actually the 32-bit version that PC Mover has wedged into the new 64-bit PC that is returning that 32-bit message. (When you try to install the later version, the installer tries to remove the previous version which suddenly realises it is on a 64-bit system, and everything turns to custard.)
In the best of all possible worlds, I'd prefer to remove the 32-bit iTunes by undoing the migrstion (using the PC Mover undo function). Unfortunately, my understanding is that you can only completely undo the entire migration.
If you aren't keen on that, there's an alternate strategy described in the following post:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12712585&#12712585
You may not need to search for a copy of Windows Installer CleanUp. In his/her reply to that post cmcmd reports:
Fantastic! I contacted PC Mover and they sent me a link to the Microsoft Clean Up utility. I deleted all of the Apple files, installed teh 64 bit iTunes and all appears to be working.
So you could perhaps try your luck with PC Mover too. Fingers crossed the support person you get through to will also have the link to the CleanUp download.

  • ITunes 7.7 64-bit installer crashes, won't install

I downloaded the 64-bit installer and tried to install over my 7.6 install. Part way through the installer (on the Quicktime bit I think) it crashes. I tried multiple times.
So I completely uninstalled iTunes and Quicktime and tried again. Now the iTunes installer crashes immediately rather than part way through the install (it's right after the pick install location / desktop icons screen).
Any ideas? I'm left with no iTunes whatsoever now which isn't very helpful when I need to sync my iPod.

    Hey Viper007Bond,
Try completely removing iTunes and QuickTime as described here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
Then download and reinstall the latest version of iTunes.

  • So does Photoshop elements 13 require Win 7 or will it work with XP64 bit

So does Photoshop Elements 13 require Win 7 or will it work with XP64 bit

    R_Kelly
I looked at hamrick.com again and it seems to skip over the LS4500AF scanner. I queried him a few years ago and he indicated that the LS4500AF was an odd scanner needing a odd driver. It is SCSI also which in itself is another step. I would pay someone to rewrite the 32 bit driver but it would be more cost effective to keep a XP32 bit machine for the LS4500AF which I will probably do. I have been using XP64 bit for 10+ years and am really keen on it but with PSE 13 going to Win7 I will have to also.
It takes me 3 or more months to get back to get my quality back up each time I change any hardware or software like an OS,  editor or computer. Fortunately my computer is good so I will not have to change it. And Summer is coming and that is my slow season time so aside from the several $s I should be fine come Fall.
