Lenovo Erazer x510 boot problem

Hi,
I just received my new Erazer x510 yesterday.
When trying to boot it for the first time it gives me an error: Error 1962: no operating system found.
Also when checking from BIOS for bootable devices it sometimes shows HDD but sometimes it's blank.
Basically HDD is dissapearing.
Searching the error from google gives mostly an answer that HDD is faulty.
Is this true? Or is there anything else to be done?
Thanks in advance!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

I'll answer myself.
I moved the Hard Drive to another slot and it started working.
So the problem was that computer didn't recognize the HDD.

  • Lenovo G470 Having Booting Problems.

My laptop is having problems while booting up occasionally where it boots up until the mouse pointer gets dispalyed, nothing else, just the mouse pointer at the center of the screen and nothing else. I have to then shutdown the laptop by holding the power button down till it shutsdown then turn it on again in order to use my laptop. This happens often after I shutdown the laptop, but NOT when I restart, or boot from hibernation. I haven't noticed any BSODs. This problem has been there since I bought the laptop. I tried updating the drivers and the BIOS and I used the DriverEasy software also to update the drivers. Yet the problem continues.
    Any solutions?

  • Lenovo 3000 Y500 Booting problems

    Hey Everyone,
Two days back I have tried to install Ubuntu onto my lenovo 3000 y500  Intel Celeron M 1.73 Ghz, 512 MB ram and Hitachi HTS541612J9SA00-S1 120Gb SATA HDD.During the installation something went wrong and the booting could not be completed from the live cd.After I rebooted the BIOS screen (with Lenovo logo) is getting displayed and the system is continously restarting. The OS boot screen is not loading.
Out of curiosity I had removed my hard drive and tried to boot the system with no hard drive through a live cd and it booted for sometime and it hung.I had also connected my hdd to another desktop and tried to install ubuntu on it and the installation worked fine and the desktop booted with ubuntu installed on it.
To check my motherboard I used a similar hard drive from an other y500 series laptop and booted the system succesfully. So the motherboard was working fine.
As a final desperate attempt I had downloaded a BIOS update (thinking that it is a BIOS problem) for Lenovo 3000 N100 and flashed my bios with it.Then the system booted fine with my hdd (with ubuntu on it) but my no hardware was being detected correctly.SO i restored my old bios back and the problem continues.
Kindly let me know if there is any BIOS update for Lenovo 3000 Y500 that can rectify this problem. My current BIOS is Phoenix trusted core version 2.04.Kindly suggest any other reasons that might cause this problem
    Thank you

Three days back I have tried to install Ubuntu onto my lenovo 3000 y500  Intel Celeron M 1.73 Ghz, 512 MB ram and Hitachi 80 gb SATA HDD.During the installation something went wrong and the booting could not be completed from the live cd.After I rebooted the BIOS screen (with Lenovo logo) is getting displayed and the system is continously restarting. The OS boot screen is not loading.
the hard drive running better with every laptop & destop. & my laptop is working fine with another 80 to 160  gb sata. please give me different bios version.
    thanks

  • Lenovo G505s legacy boot problems

Notebook g505s hangs up on booting installed linux kernel by grub2 with legacy boot option in bios. Also hangs up on booting Windows7 by grub2 in legacy boot mode.
Single installation of windows boot's OK.
If used UEFI boot and EFI installation of linux and Windows8 all boot's OK.
    Steps for reproduce:
    1. Enable legacy boot mode in bios
    2a(optional). install windows7
2b. Install Ubuntu or archlinux (MBR disk partitioning)
    3. Reboot for booting from HDD
    4. Select OS for boot.
Also hangs up on boot of installation win7 disk's in UEFI on disk.sys. In legacy mode win7 install disk boot's OK.
Looks like bios legacy boot code not fully implemented.

    hi Zidane,
Since the G505s BIOS properly boots Win7, you're maybe right about the BIOS not properly supporting other boot loaders like Grub 2 in legacy mode but it's a bit early to tell without knowing what's causing the boot failure.
You can try troubleshooting the issue on the GRUB 2's side by checking the following:
    - Boot Repair
    - GRUB 2 Troubleshooting
If you're aiming to dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu, try to install Ubuntu via Wubi and see if that works.
In regards to the disk.sys error when installing Win7 in UEFI mode, perhaps you can create a bootable Win7 SP1 UEFI installer try again (with SATA Controller Mode set to AHCI in the BIOS).

  • Erazer X510 - AMD R9 290 4GB Graphics Card Stopped Working/Responding

    Hi,
    I recently bought a PC from amazon UK, Kindly see the link to view the PC details;
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-Erazer-Tower-Desktop-Bla...
The PC is a Lenovo Erazer X510
I had it shipped to Kenya and it arrived today. The PC seemed to work fine, I checked if the system recognized all the hardware and it did, including the AMD R9 290 Card (which it recognized). It booted well and was quite fast however it crashed about two times (The PC comes with an overclock button) and I believe it crashed after overclocking using the overclock button and I was barely maxing out the PC - I was only testing to see how Overclock works.
After the last crash, I realized the AMD Radeon graphics card stopped responding, the PC is working however the system no longer recognizes the card anymore.
Kindly advice on how to get the PC to recognize the graphics card again?
    Regards,
    Sam.

Hello, Unfortunately I have a very similar problem with a very similar machine (i7-4770k and R9 290)... https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-E-H-K-M-Q-and-ErazerX/LENOVO-Erazer-X510-crashes-and-restarts-in-game-from-day-1/td-p/2094705 The black screen and reboot happened in game though, never in idle state.I have sent back my machine around the 15th of May and have not received it back yet. The service center informed me that they would send it back unrepaired and I have complained here. No news since then. Good luck. JP

  • Lenovo laptop u430 Touch - strange UEFI boot problem

Hello!! I'm Javier from Argentina. I'm having a strange boot problem with my Lenovo u430 Touch and Windows 8.1 x64 configured in UEFI.
When I power on o restart the laptop It gets stuck at lenovo logo screen and i have to press a key from the keyboard to continue booting on Windows 8.1 x64. This is really annoying.
No hdd activity.Trying to solve the problem I reset bios to default settings, I updated to last bios available and restored Windows 8.1 with OKR but i have no luck.
To solve this problem I configured the laptop to use legacy support, but I would that someone can help me to use again my laptop with UEFI bios settings.

  • New Lenovo W530 SLOW booting

New W530 Type 2436-CTO with Win 7 Pro, 16gb RAM, 256gb SSD.  This is my second W530
Problem when I boot is it boots very quickly to the Welcome screen and then instead of going to the Win 7 Home screen, the screen goes dark except for the cursor and stays dark with hard drive activiity for about 45 to 55 seconds before the home screen pops up.  After than the computer runs as normal and very fast.
Some thing in the boot sequence must be the problem.  I did all the Windows updates, MS updates and Lenovo updates.  I am mainly a  user so any help needs to be specific with detail directions.  Hate to send it back when it all works perfectly except it takes near two minutes to boot.
Last W530 boot like lightning - Please help me

When I have had slow booting problems, I have found help via a web search for 'diagnose slow boot times Windows 7', or the like.
At the stage where you are having the long delay, there should be Event Logs listing how long each step in the boot process is taking, and whether that is a change from the previous time the computer booted.
Here is a guide I have found helpful:
    http://itexpertvoice.com/home/what%E2%80%99s-taking-so-long-how-to-fight-slow-startup-times-in-windo...
^^ It walks you through looking at the Event Logs for particular types of messages, especially related to new delays in startup.
Hope you find your issue and get it fixed.

  • T400 Boot problem

I have a strange boot problem: Whenever I reboot my T400, the machine freezes immediately after loading grub. (it passes the ThinkPad screen fine). I multiboot linux/win7, and this is not a grub problem, since when I boot Win7 the machine freezes somewhere in the windows loader, (the windows logo shows) and when I boot linux it freezes in the linux boot loader, with a blank screen, showing just a blinking underline. The disk seems ok too, since I can go for months having the machine sleep to RAM and resume without problem. It freezes only at boot, and the only way to get past it is to remove the power cable+battery/hold power button and pray. Any ideas for a more permanent solution?

    loko, hello and welcome,
No answer, just questions:  "whenever" you reboot - as in every time?  And specifically _reboot_ as opposed to cold boot?  Reboot from Win to Win, Lin to LIin, Win to Lin, Lin to Win?  And warm reboot, or full power off, power on reboot?
When you reboot, is it always from an OS that has been fully shut down and _to_ an OS that has been previously fully shut down?
I've seen some pretty strange things happen when one reboots a hibernated OS where in the meantime the other OS has touched the file system.  I wouldn't expect grub to care, unless this is grub2 - then who knows?
Also have seen some pretty strange stuff when warm rebooting from Linux to Windows.  It can leave BIOS in a strange state.  On my desktop, my NIC will be dead until I do a full cold boot - from AC mains off.
Just tossing *stuff* at the wall here,
    Z.

  • X200s + OCZ Vertex 3 cold boot problems

    Hello,
I installed an OCZ 120GB Vertex 3 drive in my Lenovo X200s Thinkpad laptop (drive firmware 2.15, latest X200 bios) and have had endless problems with coldboots. I have win7 (64 bit) and ubuntu 11.10 (64 bit) installed and can only get into the GRUB2 menu once in 3-5 times (loads of ctrl-alt-delete or off until I get through). However, going to sleep then restarting the machine works fine.
win7 doesn't work with AHCI enabled (loads of random BSODs) but Ubuntu is fine. In compatibility mode, win7 boots but may not have liked the latest updates, will need to come back to that later.
I've checked other forums (including the OCZ forum) and the solution right now seems to be to upgrade the drive firmware to the latest 2.15 version and to "secure erase" the drive before reinstalling. People who have "secure erased" their drives are fine for a few days but then the problem reappears. RMAing the drive doesn't seem to help either.
So basically, what I'm asking is if anyone's been through the same cold boot problems and / or managed to fix this.
    Cheers,
    John

Obviously it is the OCZ Vertex 3 flaw. I have a friend finally threw it away and brought a Plextron one. Please have it replaced. I think you should get the hint that the drive is buggy when AHCI causes BSODs.

  • K7N2 Delta-L: Strange cold boot problem & solution

My K7N2 Delta-L has a problem cold booting when the vcore is set in the bios at 1.65v of higher. After a cold boot, you get a blank black screen. I noticed that even if you run at default speeds but set the vcore to 1.65v of higher the problem still occurs. There is no problem rebooting however.
    I found the following solutions:
    1. After you power up and get a blank, hit the reset button.
    2. Don't unplug your PC. My PC is connected to a AVR and after I power down the PC I usually turn the AVR off. If i do this, than the computer will have a booting problem if I try to boot it up 30 minutes later or so. Now if I don't unplug it/power off the AVR than everything is fine.
I don't understand why it acts the way it does though.
Does anyone know of any other solutions?

Have you cleared the cmos. If you do be sure you have the power turned off don't move the cmos jumper with the power on.
I found that turning off power at power supply and unpluging, than turning on the computer the fans will spin just a little this drains all the power. Clear cmos 2-3 than return to
    1-2 position.
Than plug the power back in and turn it back on, than try the computer again.

  • Mid 2006 iMac Boot Problem (Since latest firmware update)

I have a Mid 2006 17" iMac. Ever since the latest firmware update in early December, about every other startup I've been having boot problems. After the white screen with the Apple Logo and the spinning wheel it goes to a blue screen like normal, but instead of the 'Loading Mac OS X' white window popping up it stays blue and the spinning loading wheel starts. I've left it loading for quite a while before and nothing changes. I have to do a force shut off by holding the power button. and then I start it up and it will boot normally.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
