Hi,
I have purchased the laptop (Lenovo Essential G500 (59-370358) Laptop (3rd Gen Ci5/ 4GB/ 500GB/ DOS)) using flipkart.

I have booted the laptop firsttime. It asked to input date and then time. Then its showing c:. Windows 8 is not loading.

Thanks! Okay!
now first make sure the system is OFF
Press the power button and start hitting F2
You will boot to Lenovo BIOS Screen and here are the settings you need to change
First go to the Exit TAB and look for these settings
Either:
OS Optimization or OS Optimized you will Need to change it to Compatible or Other OS.
Next go to Configuration TAB and Security TAB and look for Secure BOOT set it to Disabled.
Last would be to go to Boot Tab and look for these settings.
UEFI boot - Set it to disabled
Boot Model - set it to Legacy
Boot Priority - Set it to Legacy First
Now hit F10 and it should ask you to save and exit just hit Enter for Yes.
After hitting enter your system will restart now quicly start hitting F12 on your keyboard and this will give you an option to Select where to boot, just choose your ODD driver with the Windows CD in it.
(If it did not give you the options restart the system and try hitting F2 again.

Lenovo G500 fist time boot problem

I recently bought Lenovo G500 and I can not boot into Windows (to install it for the first time) or boot menu to change boot order. After starting laptop I get this screen. How can I change this to be able to instal Windows?

If I'm not Mistaken you want to boot the system to your Installation Media,right?
First you can try the hitting F12 when you press the power to turn it ON.
If your Lucky the BIOS is already configured and hitting F12 should give you the Boot menu and will let you choose to boot from CD/DVD, HDD or USB.
If hitting F12 did not give you Boot Menu Option,
Turn the system ON and start hitting F2, Now This will Let you Boot into the BIOS and will give you option to change the Boot sequence,

First time launch problems - no transition fx - iSight turned itself off

Just got a new 2gHz white MacBook. Migrated my old Home folder from clone of dead Tibook 10.3.9 via iPod. Before opening iMovie HD 6.0.2 for first time, I trashed the old iMovie I believe migrated.
Updated to 10.4.7 released today.
iMovie HD 6.0.2 imediately reported 'There is a problem with the transition effect X' repeatedly. I could Cancel or Okay, but no Fix, so I okayed each and selected Make Magic Movie.
Next I selected iSight (built in), MPEG-4 Widescreen. iSight powered up and I could see myself, but when I continued, iSight powered down, and I gave up.

Magic Movie is meant for pulling already shot video off a camera and creating a movie.
Perhaps that's your problem.
If you are just going to use your built in iSight, choose iSight as the video format when you create a new project.
Not sure about the other error message. Have you ever installed any third party plugins for iMovie.

First time execution problem

Hi All,
I have created a report on Vendors, used the tables LFA1, LFM1, EKKO, EKPO, T024.
When I execute the report for the first time it's taking around 8 Mins., On the other hand, When I execute the same report with the same variant, it's taking around 30 Seconds!
When I check the report in SM50, its showing EKPO sequential read.
Any, Hint to reduce the first time execution time.

First time post problems on older Multivision PC

Found all the posts here really useful stuff, never paid much attention to Powersupply probs before. Trying to keep the old box running, but have ordered new Carrera self spec tower, arriving in about 2 weeks. Asus mobo 3200 Barton 1 gig matched DDR etc.
General probs on system the one described in signature:
* 1700 wont run at 133 FSB, only 100FSB locks up during Windows startup about the time keyboard and mouse draw power.
locks up during large file copying or installation. Problems reinstalling XP CD stops about 80%. Won't complete SP1 installation.
CPU temps
Idle 39=40 Load 44-45 Case temp 37 (taken from BIOS and Fuzzy Logic).
Your stuff on PSU's doesn't mention much about USB devices. really the only additional stuff I have added over time to the original build. About 5 devices including FF Joypad, CF card reader, Wacom graphics tablet, Mouse, webcam.
Would this tip the PSU over the edge??
After initial large crash, tried to repair XP it deleted files but wouldn't install so bought new hardrive for clean install hence system now has 40 and 60 gig. Needed old hdrive for backup of work files (rescue poor backups) installed new CDrom writer incase prob with reading XP disks.
Bios is up to date (Live update confirms)
Via 4 in 1 drivers updated
Ffresh download of S/B live drivers installed
Fresh update of Leadtek graphic drivers.
I don't see much change from original spec, unless PSU on the limit in the first place. Only addition is now extra Hdrive and Lan card. Really want to get this running stable back at 133 FSB so before I investigae the CPU cooling and add extra case fans replace Powersupply etc. Can any one think of anything else to consider?

New carrera arrived singing Barton 3200+ 1gig paired 3200 SATA HD Etc
Old system finally bit the dust, changed everthing to get it going finally picked up a ASUS A7N8X -X for £30 on Ebayn added Barton 2500+ and 512mb 3200 and all is well again.
So the MSI KT266 must have been causing the probs. But thanks to you guys I now understand a little more about power supplies (Antec Truepower installed) and CPU cooling (Vantec Aero 2) keeping the Barton 2500+ at 35 idle and 43 load.
Bought the 3200 stick for some comfort when I begin to investigate the potetial of the Barton 2500+. Currently running at stock only finished building yesterday!!
The ASUS forums aint a patch on the expertise here.

First time build, problems detecting SATA

I just got done putting together my first build, everything went well, until I attempted to boot up, I can get into the bios and the mobo beeps once, but when I'm in the bios there are no SATA detected the bios is set on IDE and toggling between all the settings is not working no dvd, and no hardrives show up. They all have power(i can hear the hard drives spin up and the dvd drive will eject)
I've attempted swapping cables and ports galore, but to no avail.
I'm out of ideas, anyone have any tips?
Also If it helps, I pulled the drives and dvd drive out of my last computer and they were working just fine.

After installation and first time boot, the F2 key won't work

It's all in the title, I just installed sol10u2 on my PC (mb: ASUS P5GV-MX, proc: Pentium IV 3GHz, keyb: ps2 some Windows compatible).
While installing it went OK, all keyboard buttons working, LCD 1280x1024 working, everything fine. After copying the files to HDD, I had to take out the DVD and reboot. That's OK.
After the system got through the POSTm checked the configs or something, the text screen appeared asking whether I want to use Xorg or Xsun server for my X. The problem is that when I press the F2 (continue) the screen is not repainted and it stays the same as before (every second line is shown, and every second line is blank - black), and none of the function or non function buttons work either. I can hear a beep as an error for pressing any key.
It would be nice to know how exactly should I have had to install Solaris to make it work. I mean I tried 2 times already, with the same results.

All you have to do in order to remedy this greyed out menu situation is to download the iWeb 1.1.1 update image directly from Apple here...

Install this right over your current iWeb installation. I think you will find that your situation has improved.

No signal to VGA monitor using Mac mini display to VGA adaptor and first time boot Mac mini

Just unpacked Mac mini and powered up using Mac mini to VGA display adaptor and VGA monitor. There is no signal to the monitor ( power is on).
How to see the display?

Using a default monitor configuration.
First step would be to create the necessary entries (easier to make a complete xorg.conf versus xorg.conf.d/##-whatever.conf).
All Desktop Environments / Window Managers rely on X. Man pages are helpful, possibly some headaches ahead as I fought a dual-monitor display this way.

Installing windows first time boot camp

I have installed windows 7 on a partition in my macbook pro and am now unable to get back to the OSX. It defaults into starting in windows 7, is there something I am missing?

You skipped the Boot Camp Guide.
There is now in Windows a quick switch icon; a Boot Camp control panel with its own startup; as well as the one in OS X. T here is Apple OSSwitcher added to Windows services now.
x = Mac OS X on startup also in addition to Option key

Windows had to be the default to do all the updates and restarts.
guess you never tried boot Mac from another OS X volume.
Also in rare cases zap PRAM to clear the default OS.

Sub Problem:
When using the advanced edit cursor, right click Is used to select a hyperlink-properties the first time the dialog box pops up it does not have “focus” (not sure that is the right term, but the box is grayed out and will not respond to the keyboard.). It must be mouse clicked to get focus. The second time a link is right clicked to properties the popup responds to the key board and will move to the action tab with ctrl-tab
It’s not clear to me where the acrobat program is at that point.
Is that a known action or problem with acrobat pro 9.4.4?
Is there a key or keys from the keyboard that can force focus to the box?
The problem is each file I open I have to manually find a link and right click it to get the box then click in the box to get “focus”. After the first one the box pops up with focus.

I have been working on converting a set of pdf files with 1000’s of hyperlinks like www.site.com\folder1\file1.pdf#page=10
To jump to a local copy of the files with a relative type link
../folder1/file1.pdf and then go to the proper page.
I have found that it can be done manually by changing the hyperlink to a javascript
var otherDoc = app.openDoc('../folder1/file1.pdf', this);otherDoc.pageNum = 10 - 1;
and setting each destination file with a disclose()=true;

I have resorted to the following plan using acrobat javascript, an external keyboard macro recorder and excel in combination to get around the problem
Four folder level acrobat javascripts with “buttons”
One to get all the link quads in an array, in the pdf and report the total number
The second creates a form field in the far corner of the first page and moves there.
The third jumps to each link found by creating a form field just to the left of the link and zooms in so it can be selected by a “mouse click” from the keyboard macro recorder
The forth deletes the form field
The keyboard macro recorder runs javascript 2 and then 3 then clicks on the link just to the right of the middle of the screen and uses keys to get to the advanced editing to get to edit the hyperlink .
The hyperlink is then copied to excel where it is converted using string functions to the needed javascript text to be copied back.
To the acrobat file into a java script (after deleting the hyperlink)
Rinse/lather/repeat
I have been able to convert about 150 links an hour.
Better then hand typing, but not like having java access to the links.

I didn't intend to say you must close the X box after each
apply. It's OK to apply one change and go to another item before
closing the dialogue. It's the OK button that messes up sometimes.
Even when you hit the Apply button for a very large selection
of topics, the OK button sometimes will undo the apply, not
necessarily for all selected topics. Even when you've made just one
batch change.
I think it's because OK tries to re-set all settings (that's
why it takes forever), but does not correctly pick up the mass
changes previously applied. Or maybe it takes forever because it
can't find the new info and defaults to the existing settings.
A pain in the butt when you're trying to apply a stylesheet
to a very large number of topics. Please don't ask me to define "a
large number."
Maybe it's a space limit in RH, similar to the space limit
for the number of characters in a batch of file names you want to
import. Or maybe the OK button doesn't look in the right places.

Booting for the first time in my Lenovo G500

Hi everyone!
I'm trying to boot for the first time in my Lenovo G500. It starts with the logo of lenovo and then it goes to a black screen and it is saying that is loading FreeDOS and is asking to enter a new date, new time and then it says C:/> and nothing happens.
I put in the cd with Windows 8 drivers but i can't make it boot from the cd/dvd.
Anyone can help?

I’m sorry to hear that your G500 Laptop is booting to Black screen, I suggest you to change the Boot priority of CD/DVD drive 1st and HDD (Hard Disc Drive) to 2nd, below are the steps to access BIOS:
Turn OFF the computer and then click on NOVO button which is located at the left side of the computer.
Then under Boot tab change the CD/DVD as 1st boot and HDD to 2nd device.
Now press “F10” Key to save the changes, the computer will automatically restart.
Then check inserting the Disc and check the issue.
Do post us back if the issue still persists.

First time building Comp problem MS-6390

Hey its my first time building a computer and i need help. I got everythin working , Led , fans , lights , and all but it wont boot anything up just a black screen.
Im useing
MS-6390 KM266 Motherbaord
Radeon 9200 SE
Kbytes DDR PC 2700 333MHZ 256 MB ram stick
450 W Power Supply
Sound Blaster PCI Sound Card
AMD 1700+ Socket A
Maxtors 120 GB HD @ 7200 RPM
everythin is plugged in but just a black screen boots up can anyone help me?

Are you getting a beeps at all?
Beeps can be de-coded at the BIOS manufactures website and should lead you to the problem.
Next I'd start working back removing the more essential items... start with CD-ROMs, DVD drives and floppy drives then HDD, then RAM.
All cables need to be double and triple checked for securness. Poorly seated video card is a common culprit.
Final possibility is you may have a faulty or have fried your cpu... I did once.
Hey thats not bad of an idea maybe it will work and our systems are almost the same hehe so i guess ill try it. =P
