Lenovo EZ cannot factory reset (SOLVED)

 Tried to factory reset my Lenovo EZ Media & Backup (HMEZ).  When I pull it up now it shows the error:
Lenovo EZ Not Ready Your device is in an inconsistent state because the original drives were replaced. You can either put the original drives back or perform a factory reset to erase all existing data and use the new drives. To perform a factory reset you must first clear the administrator password by pressing the reset button on the back of the device.
Doing this (3x) produces the same result, cannot login to manage the device, only shows this error again.
Any other way to factory reset?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You were sent an email on 11/11 however we never received an response so I sent it again.
We typically do not offer the imager to out of warranty devices without the customer understanding that we will not be able to support the device and the imager process. If you agree to this and sign the NDA by inserting your name in the agreement in the email, we can offer the imager to you. If the registration group updates your warranty, we will be able to support this.
After we get the reply we can provide a link to the firmware.
The imager should restore the device unless it is a hardware issue.

    Welcome in Lenovo Forums.
    To start the Recovery process you will need to press on the Small button next to the DC Port.
    Choose System Recovery > Restore from Initial Back up > Start.
    Note: The Recovery will format your machine and all the data saved on the C partition and the desktop will be deleted.
    Please make sure to keep the battery and the charger connected untill the process get completed

    I was trying to update my Thrive from 3.2.1.31.5.0003 to ICS 4.0.4.01.000072314 today and encountered a problem.
    I was using the Service Station to download the update.
    The download finished and I clicked the Install button.
    The software checked the integrity of the package and at that time some of the opened application encountered "Force Close."
    The checking failed, no updates applied, and prompted my to download the software again.
    I restarted my tablet and the settings/apps/files in my tablet seemed to have been frozen. My tablet run okay, but any setting changes reverted after a restart. Any files that I have deleted, reappeared again after a restart.
    My tablet is encrypted. I tried Privacy -> Factory data reset, and after it booted up, nothing got reset. I have also tried to wipe user data/factory reset by pressing Power button + Volume up button during start up but without any luck.
    Any idea?

    after a hard reset/ factory reset i get boot, but after that , all I see is a black screen with a spinning/ rotating circle in the middle.

    the problem was that I was holding the tablet in portret orientation while it boots.
    So, I ACCIDENTALLY keep it in LANDSCAPE mode and, voila! it enters the welcome settings. So easy!

  • I need to reset my apple tv due it not working following system update. I cannot reset onscreen, so need to factory reset via iTunes. However, upon plugging into iTunes with the micro usb cable, iTunes is not picking it up. Any ideas pleas??

    All that happens is the light on the front of the apple tv flashes rapidly. Itunes is not recognising the apple tv being plugged in, so I cannot attempt the factory reset. Help!

    Have you made sure that you have removed all the cables other than the USB cable when connecting with Apple TV to iTunes. Also make sure that you have connected the Apple TV to a powered USB port.

  • Factory reset  ipad from the "cannot activate" screen in iTunes?

    I recently had btea ios6 on the ipad and upgraded it to the full version from the dev account, by downloading the ipsw file, and installing onto laptop. All went well.
    Anyway, now i'm stuck on the activation screen on the ipad and also in itunes. (sorry cannot activate at this time garbage) even thouth the laptop with itunes is connected to the internet.
    I have downloaded the latest version of itunes.
    My question is, how do i do a factory reset so that itunes downlaods another version of ios6 and installs it again, when in itunes it just showes the f'ing cannot activate screen with no buttons??
    Please help before i sling the thing against a wall.

  • Cannot connect to TC, even after factory reset

    I bought a 1TB TC from apple in 08/2008. I don't recall if it was a refurb or not. It worked fine for 4.5 years with more or less no problems. About a month or two ago the Wi-Fi stopped working. I could connect to the SSID, but occasionally could not get an internet connection without cycling the power of the modem and TC. Finally, the cycling trick stopped working, and while I could connect to the TC I couldn't get internet. I switched to the WiFi capabilties that my Comcast modem had (as I didn't have time to address the issue then). I've finally gotten around to trying to fix it and could not find the TC via WiFi. I attempted a hard reset, but holding the reset button (while under power) did not make the yellow light flash, even after 30 seconds. I then performed a factory reset by holding the reset button while plugging in the TC. The light flashed, indicating the factory reset occurred.
    After the factory reset I still cannot:
    -Find the TC via WiFi
         I attempted using both my previous SSID and searching for the default "Apple Network XXXXXX" signal. No dice.
    -Find the TC via Ethernet
         I attempted to connect my MBP directly to the ethernet port (<--->) on the TC but the red light remains on the Ethernet in Network Settings (Status: Cable Unplugged. Either the cable for Ethernet is not plugged in or the device at the other end is not responding). I verified the cable works by connecting the ethernet cable to the cable modem and instantly getting the green "connected" light and an internet connection.
    -Find the TC via Airport Utility
         The TC did not appear, even when plugged in directly with the ethernet cable.
    I'm not sure if this is a firmware issue or what. The lights turn on the front and in the LEDs above the ethernet jacks in the back during power/start up but is otherwise unresponsive. I cannot attempt a firmware update as I cannot connect to the TC by WiFi/Ethernet, let alone through the Airport utilitiy.
    I'm not sure if this is relevant or helpful but the TC is also making a ticking/hissing slightly faster than once a second as if the drive is being accessed.
    Can anyone help!?! I have quite a drive to an apple store and I'm sure what they would charge to mail in and fix it would be excessive.

    The power supply is dead.
    Solid amber could also be a dead hard disk.
    Apple will not fix it and do not supply parts for anyone else to fix them.
    It is really no longer economic to repair unless you can DIY. And even then if the hard disk is gone then it really is a waste.. just buy a replacement.

    I have given several methods.. some rough but very cheap to repair the TC.
    Otherwise it is just time to buy a new one.. or IMHO a Gen4 is an excellent buy.. second hand or from your local apple refurbish store.

  • Cannot update software from version 1.0 after factory reset

    Just did a factory reset on my first generation, year old, perfectly working AppleTV. Then wanted to update the software from ver. 1.0 to current. For two day now, when choosing "update software' the response is that newer software is available but the download spins and spins with nothing happening. Seems like the network connection must be good or there wouldn't be knowledge that newer version exist. Eventually a message states that the software is not available now try late. As I said, I have been trying for 2 days. What's up with this?

    Self-repaired! It was appear that the quality of reception of the ATV is problem because it cannot hold a connection long enough to download the software. I took an 11n airport express which extends my airport network and plugged the ATV to in by Ethernet. Result. ATV showed up on iTunes. Upgrade to 2.2 downloaded. And since I only stream, the system seems faster and more solid, so far. Amazing.

  • I just updated to iOS 8 on my iPad 2 and got an error then factory reset! Now I cannot see my Purchased Apps

    I just updated to iOS 8 on my iPad 2 and due to a unforeseen error on iTunes I had to do factory reset. I was using my friend's iMac iTunes to download and update, instead of OTA. Now I'm unable to see my previously purchased apps (some even discontinued that I was hanging on to as they still kind of worked)... Even after I logged into App store on my iPad (tried restoring iCloud and iTunes but no luck, somehow there isn't any backup)! I checked my App Store updates/purchases and see nothing. A forum suggested I try buying it anyway and it will say I already have it and not double charge, but I don't want to take that chance as most of these apps are over $4. I have receipts for all my purchases. Please help!

    When you do an update via a computer's iTunes the update process will backup the device (a backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their content/settings), wipe the device, install the update, and then restore the backup - the restore would look to pick up your apps, music, films etc from the iTunes library.
    You've tried logging out (tap on your id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app) and back in and seeing if they then show in the Purchased tab, and you could also check to see if the apps are hidden from Purchased : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.
    If an app is no longer in the store then you won't be able to redownload it. You haven't got copies of your apps in your own computer's iTunes library and/or on your backup of your downloads/library ?

  • Nightmare after 10.2.1.573 update (device 'coma', factory reset, cannot restore via blackberry link) (on Etisalat)

    3 days ago, I updated my Q10 as prompted to the newest software (I'm in the UAE and use etisalat)
    Following the update, I rebooted the phone and was faced with the dreaded blackberry 'coma' - where it reboots but then hangs at 99% or 100%
    Reading some advice, I let it sit for 2 days at 100% to see if it would eventually resolved - it didn't.  Battery pulls and resets etc also ineffective
    I plugged it into my computer and was able to back it up via the blackberry link software.  I then did a factory reset and installed the latest software (10.2.1.573, my OS version is 10.2.1.1925
    The phone now boots up fine and syncs with BBerry link - but it will not restore the device.  The error message I get is "restore did not complete.  There could have been a problem with the device or connection during the restore.  Verify that the device is turned on or connected"  Rebooting the computer, reinstalling link etc, does not work, neither does only reloading part of the data.
    Can anybody help, I am desperate, and currently have no way to restore and of my media or contacts!! (my plan with etisalat does not suppost blackberry protect so I don't have that)  Is it true that this is a known problem with blackberry link?
    I've heard of people having issues when then they use new leaked updates and then have to downgrade, because BlackBerry Link will not let you restore a backup from an OS that was made on a higher OS version.  However this is not the case here - the backup file was made BEFORE the upgrade so will the the same or lower version of OS

    I have the same exact problem with my Q5 I went to many phone shops but no luck ,im trying things my self I any thing worked  I will let you know and please if you have a solution share it with us . I know how does it feel.

  • How to restore an X61s (MBR?) to access ThinkVanta​ge Factory Reset

    Hello Community,
    I read several posts regarding different kind of boot problem scenarios, but nothing fit so far..
    I can successful boot into the Windows XP Professional partition; but somehow I messed up all my network drivers during a bluetooth software experiment. Tired of trying different drivers, but, hey, no problem, there is a hidden 6 GB Lenovo partition on the harddrive that is supposed to reset the X61s to factory settings.
    However I cannot boot into that partition. A collegue has an X61s as well; when he presses the blue ThinkVantage button on restart he gets to that Recovery / Factory Reset screen. When I press that button I only get a choice of [ESC] Continuing to boot, entering the bios or [F12] choosing a different boot device. I'm assuming that this somehow has to do with me resetting the MBR to a "standard one" with one the many MBR tools out there. (I tried GRUB on there last year for an Ubuntu installation that I removed already by now.)
    So I copy the 512 MBR from my collegue, write it to my MBR (MBRWizard); as a result the Windows partition doesnt boot anymore (dead cursor top left). Booting again from my Utilities CD (thank god I have an external USB drive), restoring to that "standard" MBR.
    At this point I don't care about the factory recovering anymore and try the Win XP Pro DVD from my desktop; after all I have the product key printed on the bottom of the X61s. Result: Bluescreen; possibly harddrive failure; which I cannot confirm returning to HD scans from the running Xp partition.
    So now I am puzzled: How can I reset my X61s to the factory standard or install a new XP on it?
    How can I get the original ThinkVantage button rescue screen back? (As suggested in a different forum post, I installed the latest Rescue&Recovery 4.2, but no differences) I found a link to an MBR repair DISK to download from Lenovo. Don't have an external drive; so also no option.
    Could anybody please point me in the direction from here? I'm ... lost.... : /

    Sorry. That was mostly just boiling rage after someone walked into the office in the middle of the day and stole multiple phones. (We develop iOS apps…) We were googling frantically and trying to figure out:
    "Okay, so we locked the phones. WTH, they just showed up at Smith Street? Okay, well we offerered a reward. Is someone gonna reset them and sell them? Can they even reset them? Should we erase the phones? Are they already bricked if they're locked? Does erasing the phone protect data? Or does it just unlock it and hand it to the thief on a silver platter?"
    So long story short, we erased them. Then became unclear whether that protected the data or whether it really just performed a factory reset and made the phones resellable. At any rate it's pretty clear they're not coming back.
    Bottom line: the euphemism of 'lost phone' is frustrating when you can pretty clearly watch your phone getting stolen. Given the number of phones that do get stolen, it's frustrating that it's so difficult to track down what the different options are actually doing and what the ultimate fate of your phone will be.
    Question 1: We click 'Lost Mode.' Is there a way for someone to do a factory reset and sell the phone?
    Question 2: We clock 'Erase phone.' Is there a way for someone to do a factory reset and sell the phone?
    Question 3: We clock 'Lost mode' followed by 'Erase phone.' Is there a way for someone to do a factory reset and sell the phone?
    Sorry for my rude or otherwise upleasant tone before. I know they're just phones, but no one was in a good mood yesterday afternoon.

  • DMA2100 how to factory reset in Windows 7?

    I've recently purchased a DMA2100 and have had it successfully talking to my Windows 7 64-bit media center PC. The problem I'm having seems to be a variant of a couple of other problems I've seen on here but not quite the same.
    I have no problem connecting using my DMA2100 through a HDMI cable, but get no picture at all when connecting it through either composite of S-Video. Given that I bought the DMA2100 to use with my old analogue set, this kinda sucks!
    A previous poster managed to get his DMA2100 to output a picture through composite by doing a factory reset by going through the menus of Vista Media Center. I'm hoping the same will resolve my problem, but cannot figure out how to do this (or how to change video settings) using the Windows 7 Media Center interface.

    Have you double-checked if your TV was set to the right TV input? Is there an existing piece of device that work on the same analog cable and TV input? If there is, then you may proceed on the next step, which is resetting the DMA2100".
    Here’s how:
    Unplug the power cable from the extender and while it’s unplugged, press and hold the reset button on the back of the extender.
    While pressing and holding the reset button, re-plug the power cable and keep holding still the reset button way down to 10-15 secs then let it go.
    Wait for the extender to completely reboot.
    When the Main Menu appears, select Settings. (If you’ll get into the Windows media center automatically, you need to exit out first from the interface to see the main menu. Just go to TASK, then EXIT)
    Press the right arrow on the remote control and select General. 
    Use the up and down arrow on the remote control to select Reset to factory defaults.
    Note: Since the extender is working with the HDMI connector, then the extender needs to be connected through the HDMI to your TV just to perform the reset. Right after the reset, you may then reconnect the analog cable to the extender. Use one TV cable at a time to avoid conflict of signal from the extender.
    Also, you might need to update the media center extender’s firmware. Click here on how to do the update.
