Ok, I just finished doing the clean install and everything works smoothly. I had an issue with the drivers though (the Intel HD control panel didn't work, but I downloaded the most recent version from their website and now it works fine). I didn't have any problems with the Energy Manager with the upgrage nor with the clean installation though.  However, what @dylan6994 says is true, until you reinstall the Energy Manager your battery will be stuck in the mode that it was before the update, so I would recommend to install W10 with the conservation mode disabled.Thank you for the information about Energy Manager as that would suck being stuck at 60%. Is there a thread for Y50-70 Windows 10 Upgrades? I keep seeing various posts about issues with drivers on the Y50-70 and I would like to know if any issues like a concise list. The Y50-70 is listed on the compatibility list but always nice to know what drivers will need to be manually installed. I know there was an issue with nVidia drivers has that been fixed? Anyways, thanks for the heads up!

  • Mac Slim keyboard and Windows

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a way to activate the keys that would usually work if I hit the "NUM" lock key. I've never used a mac and I bought the keyboard and mouse cause I like it better then anyone I have at work. Can anyone tell me how to activate them? Is there something I need to hit?
    Thanks!

In the future, please search the discussions before posting, as there's already an existing thread not too far down in this forum that deals with the keyboard and Windows.

Either way, since there are no Windows drivers for the keyboard, currently there's probably no way to accomplish what you're looking for.

  • T60 (8743) w/ Dock, Fingerprint KB and Windows 7 unable to undocl

I am posting this in two areas in hopes to find someone who can give me an idea if they have had success with Windows 7 and the 8743 (T60) w/ Adv Mini Dock and the USB Preferred Fingerprint Keyboard.
I have been combing through these forums as well as others and I am unable to find anyone who has this issue.
This only happens under Windows 7.  I have installed all the Lenovo drivers included in the System Update as well as the Betas but never can solve this.
The problem occurs when I try to eject the T60 (8743) from the Adv Mini dock that has the USB Fingerprint Keyboard connected.  If I remove the keyboard before undocking it is fine and the machine undocks normally.
    Thank you

I have the same issue with my X201 ....
When docked and a fingerprint keyboard is connected to the docking station, I can't undock.
It prompt me the message about the touchchip.
Have created a call at Lenovo, but until now no solution is available.

  • Lenovo Energy Management and Windows 10

Hello everyone (I don't know if this post should be here or in the Windows 10 section, so apologies if it's in the wrong place). I have a Lenovo Z50-70 and the upgrade to Window 10 it's ready to install. I just downloaded all drivers for Windows 10 but I noticed that there is one that doesn't have a Windows 10 version: "Lenovo Energy Management". For me, this is the most useful thing Lenovo has preinstalled in my computer, especially the conservation mode... And it would be extremely annoying to lose this utility. So... Is Lenovo going to release a W10 version of the Energy Management tool? Either way, would the W8.1 version work anyway on Windows 10? Thanks.

  • How to uninstall lenovo fingerprint software in windows 7?

i just upgraded from vista 32 to win7 32,  the fingerprint software that came with win 7 works but my lenovo one doesn't,  i just want to uninstall it but it won't let me.  Keep saying the software is not supported in this version of windows. Anyone else have this problem and how do I solve this?
I also tried installing one of those win7 beta software from the lenovo website.  it doesn't work and won't allow me to uninstall the old one.

i guess i'm not the only one.  right now i'm using the windows 7 finger print software and it works.  but the login screen still has the lenovo one which is annoying and the password manager finger print doesn't work with the windows 7. I don't want to have to do a clean install so I guess i'll just wait a little longer until more people get the official release and hopfully there will be software or drivers that would fix this.

  • Keyboard and Windows Prod key Question

    1. I just bought a second T61 new from Lenovo. The keys on this laptop require a lot of finger pressure to press as compared to the one I bought previously back in Feb 08. Has anything changed? I keep on mis typing and missing words while typing.
    2. Also, when I was ordering the laptop, I chose to downgrade to windows XP. It did come with windows XP, but the sticker on the bottom of the laptop says, "Windows Vista Business OEMAct". Does that mean the product key for windows printed below it may also be wrong? I am afraid if I re image the computer at a later point, it will ask for a windows prod key and if there is a wrong one printed at the bottom, I will be screwed. How do I check the product key on the sticker is correct?

I'm not sure about the Windows Key, but as far as keyboards go, the keyboard in the T61 is the exact same as the keyboard in earlier T60 models.  I just got a brand new one a month ago and it is perfect, so you may just have a faulty keyboard.  I would call Lenovo and ask for a replacement keyboard (I assume you are under warrenty)

  • MacBook Pro Keyboard and Windows 7...

O.K. I got Windows 7 installed on my new MacBook Pro with a hitch, and I activated the Function Keys via boot camp. A PC keyboard is a bit different then the one on my MacBook Pro. Is there a guide that has tips and which Mac Keyboard equals a PC keyboard?
I see that the Mac delete key works more like a backspace, is there another key that deletes?

  • Apple keyboard and Windows XP

I am using a Mac Mini (Mac OS 10.4.6) with a KVM switching to a Windows XP (sp2) machine.
How can I get the # symbol to appear using an Apple UK format keyboard when using Windows?
I have sorted out the @ and " key problem using a small file from www.parkernet.com/applepro/
    But I can't figure the # key.
It does appear if I press the +/- key under the esc key twice, however it produces two (##) not one symbol. It does not produce any symbol if pressed once, but seems to produces other symbols if pressed before other key strokes.
    Many thanks

  • Number pad on 10 key keyboard and Windows

For some reason, my 10 key does not work on my keyboard on the Windows (XPSP3) partition. Anyone know of a button to use to turn on the number lock on it? It currently works as if the number lock is not on.
    Thanks

    Hi,
for activation of number keys you usually have to press the so-called 'clear'-key.
It's the one directly above the '7'-key of the number pad.
And you usually have to do that only once, as Windows 'remembers' that setting.
In Windows it's called the 'NumLock'-key.

  • N5902 Keyboard and Windows XP

Hello, I just received my new N5902 Multimedia Keyboard. I am wanting to move my desktop computer to the living room for some internet TV. The desktop has XP installed. When I plug in the doggle XP ask me to install the driver, since there is not drive for the keyboard I am at a loss. I have went to Microsoft and installed every update I could find for XP. I have looked foe some type of driver that might help. I plugged it into my laptop with vista and it works great and seems to do everything I want it to. All the information I have found says it will work with XP so I'm hoping I am just over looking something. Thanks in advance.

  • Fingerprint and Windows Logon

How can I use the Lenovo Fingerprint Software AND the Windows Logon with keyboard?
The Fingerprint-Software works very well, but my colleague would have both options.
When I want to use the keyboard for logon, there is a error message that requires the fingerprint logon.
How can I configure this system with both logon-options???

Well, it was working great, but now that I've let it sit in the bag with only the battery connected for about 10 hours, it's back to the same behavior.
The reader on my T500 was perfect. Not sure what's going on here, but this issue makes it unusable with the 3 try limit in the BIOS.

  • Using two fingerprint readers and a docking station

I'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader when used with an Advanced mini dock station.
I recently aquired an Advanced mini dock and a Lenovo fingerprint keyboard to be used with my T61p and Windows 7 Ultimate.
The problem is that each time the T61p is docked I need to open Windows Device Manager and disable the internal fingerprint reader - and when undocked - the internal fingerprint reader needs to be enabled again.
This is a bit tedious - to say the least.
I've heard from someone that Windows should 'remember' when you enable/disable like this when the machine is docked and undocked, but this doesn't happen here.
Any ideas on how to make Windows automatically switch between the internal fingerprint reader when undocked - and the external fingerprint reader on the Lenovo keyboard - when docked? I know there is no longer machine hardware profiles - like in Win XP. But shouldn't there be some other feature to take care of stuff like this?
    Any hints are welcome.
    TIA.

    Tinkerguy,
    Thank you for the tip.
However, although very informative - it doesn't help in my case. On the Lenovo fingerprint keyboard I'm using the fingerprint reader is an UPEK as well - and for both FPR's the same driver version is loaded.
I forgot to mention that I've already checked that the external FPR has been set to have precedence in BIOS.
I'm now in contact with tech support at UPEK - Let's see if that gives anything.
Question: Is there _anyone_ out there that is successfully using Lenovo's Fingerprint Reader keyboard with a Thinkpad and a docking station under Windows 7?
By successful, I mean without having the necessity to switch the internal fingerprint reader off and on when docking/undocking?
    TIA.

  • Advantage of Lenovo drivers/applications over Windows 7?

As operating systems mature there is less of a requirement for OEM drivers and applications. Many of the drivers/applications are designed for corporate customers specifically .e.g to give them a consistent interface across operating system versions and for other reasons that would not benefit an individual user. My windows 7 install works fine without any lenovo drivers.
I know some drivers/applications offer increased performance and stability, but which ones? Some are obvious e.g. Ultranav utilty allows you to programme your ultranv to a greater degree than the standard driver. But what about the fingerprint driver for example? Why should we install it? It would be valuable if we knew through the driver/application readme's exactly what advantage they gave over standard windows 7. If anyone who has installed any of the below packages can comment on what the advantage is over over windows 7, I think it would help many people. Please add others to the list if neccessary.
Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II for Windows 7
Conexant Audio Software for Windows 7
    Integrated camera
Intel GM45 Display Driver for Windows 7
Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver for Windows 7
Intel Wireless LAN (11bgn) for Windows 7
Lenovo Fingerprint Software for Windows 7
Lenovo System Interface Driver for Windows7
Thinkvantage Access Connections for Windows 7

For Access Connections, here's my list of user benefits over the embedded OS functions, noting that substantial work was done on all of the ThinkVantage tools for Win7 to minimize and performance or boot time hit and make them more stable.
    - More visual interface
    - Better connectivity information
    - Single interface for WiFi, ethernet, WAN, etc.
    - Auto switch for wired & wireless (fastest available network - e.g. wired and wireless can be handled in a single profile)
    - Integrated profiles for printers, browser favorites, security and more
    - Launch Programs associated with profiles (your VPN, instant messaging, etc.)
There are many IT benefits to Access Connections that are still very valid for Win7 - pretty much all the TVT's have that story
