Lenovo Flex 15 strange cursor behaviour

Hello everyone,
I've purchased a Lenovo Flex 15 and downgraded it to Windows 7. Everything works like a charm, except that sometimes the cursor starts to move on its own to the top left corner on the screen where the "computer" and "my documents" folders are located and it starts to open them.
This behaviour happens randomly... do you have any idea what is causing this?
Thanks for the help.

I'm glad to hear it's improved! I haven't dug into the hardware too much, but usually the touchscreen is a USB device of some sort. However, the touchscreen usually uses a bus on the LVDS (maybe it's eDP now?) cable. This is why the resolution is typically lower than 1920x1080.
For what it's worth, I've had no problems with mine either. I haven't pushed any new updates lately apart from the standard Windows updates, so your guess is as good as mine .
Thank you for the update!

  • Strange cursor behaviour

    My iMac has developed some strange behaviour involving the cursor. I cannot correlate this with any other events, such as software updates.
    On web pages and similar windows, the cursor no longer changes shape when hovering over hyperlinks. The click still works and the cursor changes to the pointing finger as, or immediately after, the link is clicked.
    On menus, the selection highlight doesn't move with the mouse, and the subsequent fold out sub menus don't appear unless the left mouse button is held down, in which case the menu selection works fine.
    Yesterday, the click and drag stopped working for files in finder windows. It still works on the desktop icons, and text in windows and documents can still be selected by dragging the mouse. But I can no longer move files between folders by dragging; in particular, I can't move files out of the Trash without copying and pasting.
    I have repaired permissions and checked the disc for errors, no change. I have started up in safe mode, where the odd behaviour is still present, and it remains after restarting normally. I have tried different user accounts, no change. My MacBook has virtually identical settings, applications, etc. and this is not suffering the same problems.
    Anyone have any ideas what to try next, or what might be at the root of this issue, please?
    Many thanks,
    Stephen

    Further update:
    Following research in other topic discussions, I suspected that the problem was related to Intego VirusBarrier X5, which other users suggested caused problems when near or beyond expiry of the subscription. Mine has expired. On removing the Intego software, the drag and drop functionality was immediately restored. (The other, lesser problems are still there, but I can wait for a fix for those.)
    This is a bizarre issue, and if it is deliberate to 'encourage' renewal of the subscription, it is disgraceful. I shall spend no more money with Intego.
    Intego's uninstaller can be found here: http://support.intego.com/kb/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=214 and works well and quickly.
    I would still be interested to hear any solutions for menu and cursor problems, please.
    Regards,
    Stephen

  • Curve 9320 intermittent strange cursor behaviour

    I bought my wife a Blackberry Curve 9320 for Christmas on the Three UK network.  All went well for about 5 days, when coming out of standby using the button on the top, the cursor could only be made to moe within the app icon area, not first her up to message notification or network areas.  Also, pressing the trackpad button or any keyboard button had no effect.  I had for restore to pulling the battery out.  i put the battery back in after a few minutes and hen it restarted everythinng was back to nomal.  Approximately five days laer the same thing happened, with te same 'cure'.
    is this a known problem (OS info in sig) or is there some action I should take to resolve it?  I'm sure my wife's patience will run out soon if I don't find fix permanent fix.
    Thanks for any help.

    It sounds like what I have seen multiple times on a device with moisture damage.
    Even sitting on a bathroom counter during a hot steamy shower or bath can cause keyboard and trackball problems UNTIL properly dried out. It really is more common than you think.
    1. Remove the battery immediately!! Do not attempt to turn on your BlackBerry.
    2. Let the device dry in a warm, dry place for 3 to 5 days* (see below)
    3. DO NOT "check it each day" by placing the battery in. Leave it be to dry completely. This takes time. Replacing the battery to check it can only damage it more (moisture + electrical current = disaster).
    4. If the device is warm after the drying period, allow it to cool to room temperature before placing the battery back in.
    Suggestions on drying your BlackBerry in a warm place (open, with the battery out):
    *Place the BB in a container of dry UNcooked rice, and then you might also place it in any of the locations mentioned below.
    *On top of any dry heat emitting electronic component: TV cabinet or CRT, LCD, cable TV/Satellite converter box or plasma monitor
    *On the dashboard of your car on a sunny day

  • Battery life lenovo flex 14 - does not last long at all! (2h30)

    Hello , I got a lenovo flex 14 last september so it's very new.
    The battery lasts only 2 hours 45 when charged  fully.  I find it too short considering the computer is new and the battery is supposed to last between 5 to 8 hours on a lenovo flex 14.
    I am very average user. i am listening to music, typing word document, searching on the internet..
    I have already checked in task manager and no application seems to be running and "" eating" the battery.
    Do you have a similar issue to mine?
    Thank you for your help. I am wondering if my battery is defective...

    Me too im regret to buy apple product. Battery NO GOOD

  • Lenovo Flex 2 15 warranty is incorrect

    I bought my laptop on November 11th, 2014. I bought it at Futureshop in Canada. I looked up the warranty status and it has the wrong date on it.
    I have called 2 times and they said it would be fixed in 24 hours. Today I check and it is still the incorrect date.
    Can someone @ Lenovo fix this? I can show you the receipt.

    I have a Lenovo Flex 2-15, and I want it to startup with Mozilla Firefox, but it opens Firefox as it is set to do in my startup file, but then it goes to Internet Explorer.  I think this must be a Lenovo thing, because know of someone else who has same settings, but they do not have this problem.  IE is not responding at this time, so it is a pain to get out of it.  Anyone know of any Lenovo settings that could be changed that override the startup instructions?  Or does anyone else have similar problem?  Help would be GREATLY appreciated.Thanks!

  • No wifi connections with Windows 8.1 on Lenovo Flex 2-14

    I got me a new Lenovo Flex 2-14 with Windows 8.1 on it yesterday, but I can't connect to my wifi network. In the tray there's always the red cross (not the yellow symbol) and no network is found at all.
    I read that a lot of users experience this, so I tried multiple drivers but none of them works. I tried the one pre-installed on the D drive, the newest one from the Lenovo website and also some that I found via Google when I searched for my wifi-adapter (it's a Realtek RTL8723BE). But as I said, no driver works.
    Does anybody have an idea what I could do? It's a completely new notebook, so I didn't change any settings.
    Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Actually I have no idea what wireless adapter I have, on the Lenovo page both drivers are listed. When I install the Realtek driver I at least see an entry in the Device Manager, whereas when I install the Intel driver nothing happens at all. I deinstalled the Intel Tools and reinstalled the Realtek driver afterwards, but nothing changed.
    In my router's settings I can only choose between channels 1 to 13, as far as I know these are at 2.4 GHz, right?

  • Lenovo Flex 10 touchscreen stops working after 1 hour of use.

    Just bought a new Lenovo Flex 10 from a retail and it works perfectly except that after an hour of use the touchscreen stops working, the computer still works ok, but only with the mousepad. The notebook came with Windows 8.1, and I haven't installed any program on it. I need an urgent response please, since i've been looking for days in the community and other support pages, and still can't get a satisfactory answer and the period to get the a refund are about to expire.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi riglesias,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Once the Touchscreen stops responding, can you check the following:
    1. Open System Properties and see if the Touch functionality is still there
      - Link to picture (Touchscreen feature is not detected)
      - Link to picture (Touchscreen feature is detected)
    If the Touchscreen feature is detected, proceed to Step 2.
    2. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the Device Manager, navigate to the Human Interface Devices section and uninstall anything that says HID-compliant device (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen). When finished, reboot the system and observe.
    3. If the Touchscreen is still not working, hold the Shift Key and hit the restart button inside Windows and you should be able to see the image below then try to tap on the screen to test and observe. I
    If the touch capability is still not functioning, I recommend you contact lenovo for service.

  • Lenovo Flex 10 SSD upgrade

    Hi,
    This is my first post. I have just brought a Lenovo Flex 10 with a celeron n 2807 chip. I asked in the shop if they could do an ssd upgrade and they said they wouldn't recommend it because the celeron n2807 chip is not good enough to run an SSD internal flash drive. Would anyone recomened upgrading the interneral storage from the 5400rpm hard drive to an SSD?

    Pardon my lack of confidence in your shop, but that's a joke. SSDs will improve PC's right back to the beginning of the SATA offering. I have a NUC with the following Celeron:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/79052/Intel-Celeron-Processor-N2820-1M-Cache-up-to-2_39-GHz
    There is a huge performance gain from running an SSD on these. The only factor in whether or not to get an SSD should be if the size within your budget will hold all your data.

  • Bug in cursor behaviour with duplicates

    Dear Oracle guys and girls,
    first of all: it sucks that i HAVE to provide business information (company name, address, even phone number) even if i just want to participate in this forum for private reasons. I even have to "unsubscribe" to the newsletters although i never subscribed. Then i have to re-enter my timezone information and email address for the forum, because the settings in my profile are ignored. I think there's some room for improvement in this registration process.
    OK - back to topic. i think i found a bug in the cursor behaviour with duplicate keys. But the behaviour is very consistent, so maybe it's not a bug, but a bad design. (I call it bad because it's totally unexpected and not logical to me).
    I insert some dupes with DB_KEYFIRST; then i create a cursor and iterate over all items in the reverse order (!) with DB_PREV (i also tried DB_PREV|DB_NEXT_DUPE) - no keys are shown.
    Alternatively:
    I insert some dupes with DB_KEYLAST; then i create a cursor and iterate over all items in the reverse order (!) with DB_NEXT (i also tried DB_NEXT|DB_NEXT_DUPE) - no keys are shown.
    cursor->c_get returns the error code -30989 (DB_NOTFOUND).
    Why is it not possible to traverse duplicates in the reverse order? To me it looks like a bug.
    I tested against db 4.5.20.
    Regards
    Chris
    PS: I would love to hear if the bug i reported here: http://groups.google.com/group/comp.databases.berkeley-db/browse_thread/thread/ed471cf6837cb2a6/dd9cda0ad105f401#dd9cda0ad105f401
    will be fixed in the next version.
    Here's a test program:
    int
    main(int argc, char **argv)
    unsigned i;
    int st;
    DB *db;
    DBT key, record;
    DBC cursor, cursor2;
    unlink("test.bdb");
    st=db_create(&db, 0, 0);
    if (st)
    error("db_create", st);
    st=db->set_flags(db, DB_DUP);
    if (st)
    error("db->set_flags", st);
    st=db->open(db, 0, "test.bdb", 0, DB_BTREE, DB_CREATE, 0);
    if (st)
    error("db->open", st);
    memset(&key, 0, sizeof(key));
    memset(&record, 0, sizeof(record));
    st=db->cursor(db, 0, &cursor, 0);
    if (st)
    error("db->cursor", st);
    st=db->cursor(db, 0, &cursor2, 0);
    if (st)
    error("db->cursor", st);
    for (i=0; i<LOOPS; i++) {
    record.data=&i;
    record.size=sizeof(i);
    st=cursor->c_put(cursor, &key, &record, DB_KEYFIRST);
    st=cursor->c_put(cursor, &key, &record, DB_KEYLAST);
    if (st)
    error("cursor->c_put", st);
    while (!(st=cursor2->c_get(cursor, &key, &record, DB_NEXT))) {
    printf("%d\n", *(int *)record.data);
    st=cursor->c_close(cursor);
    if (st)
    error("cursor->c_close", st);
    st=db->close(db, 0);
    if (st)
    error("db->close", st);
    return (0);
    }

    st=cursor->c_put(cursor, &key, &record, DB_KEYFIRST);
    st=cursor->c_put(cursor, &key, &record, DB_KEYLAST);
    if (st)
    error("cursor->c_put", st);
    please delete the first line, it was a cut and paste error. as i said earlier: insert with KEYLAST, query with NEXT.

  • Strange memory behaviour using the System.Collections.Hashtable in object reference

    Dear all,
    Recently I came across a strange memory behaviour when comparing the system.collections.hashtable versus de scripting.dictionary object and thought to analyse it a bit in depth. First I thought I incorrectly destroyed references to the class and
    child classes but even when properly destroying them (and even implemented a "SafeObject" with deallocate method) I kept seeing strange memory behaviour.
    Hope this will help others when facing strange memory usage BUT I dont have a solution to the problem (yet) suggestions are welcome.
    Setting:
    I have a parent class that stores data in child classes through the use of a dictionary object. I want to store many differenct items in memory and fetching or alteging them must be as efficient as possible using the dictionary ability of retrieving key
    / value pairs. When the child class (which I store in the dictionary as value) contains another dictionary object memory handeling is as expected where all used memory is release upon the objects leaving scope (or destroyed via code). When I use a system.collection.hashtable
    no memory is released at all though apears to have some internal flag that marks it as useable for another system.collection.hashtable object.
    I created a small test snippet of code to test this behaviour with (running excel from the Office Plus 2010 version) The snippet contains a module to instantiate the parent class and child classes that will contain the data. One sub will test the Hash functionality
    and the other sub will test the dictionary functionality.
    Module1
    Option Explicit
    Sub testHash()
    Dim Parent As parent_class
    Dim d_Count As Double
    'Instantiate parent class
    Set Parent = New parent_class
    'Create a child using the hash collection object
    Parent.AddChildHash "TEST_hash"
    Dim d_CycleCount As Double
    d_CycleCount = 50000
    'Add dummy data records to the child container with x amount of data For d_Count = 0 To d_CycleCount
    Parent.ChildContainer("TEST_hash").InsertDataToHash CStr(d_Count), "dummy data"
    Next
    'Killing the parent when it goes out of scope should kill the childs. (Try it out and watch for the termination debug messages)
    'According to documentation and debug messages not really required!
    Set Parent.ChildContainer("TEST_hash") = Nothing
    'According to documentation not really as we are leaving scope but just to be consistent.. kill the parent!

    Hi Cor,
    Thank you for going through my post and took the time to reply :) Most apreciated. The issue I am facing is that the memory is not reallocated when using mixed object types and is not behaving the same. I not understand that .net versus the older methods
    use memory allocation differently and perhaps using the .net dictionary object (in stead of the scripting.dictionary) may lead to similar behaviour. {Curious to find that out -> put to the to do list of interesting thingies to explore}
    I agree that allocated memory is not a bad thing as the blocks are already assigned to the program and therefore should be reallocated with more performance. However the dictionary object versus hashtable perform almost identical (and sometimes even favor
    the dictionary object)
    The hashtable is clearly the winner when dealing with small sets of data.
    The issue arises when I am using the hash table in conjunction with another type, for example a dictionary, I see that the dictionary object's memory is stacked on top of the claimed memory space of the hashtable. It appears that .net memory allocation and
    reuse is for .net references only. :) (Or so it seems)
    In another example I got with the similar setup, I see that the total used memory is never released or reclaimed and leakage of around 20% allocated memory remains to eventually crash the system with the out of memory message. (This is when another class
    calls the parent class that instantiates the child class but thats not the point of the question at hand)
    This leakage drove me to investigate and create the example of this post in the first place. For the solution with the class -> parent class -> child class memory leak I switched all to dictionaries and no leakage occurs anymore but nevertheless thought
    it may be good to share / ask if anyone else knows more :D (Never to old to learn something new)

  • Strange Finder behaviour since installing Mountain Lion

    I've been experiencing some strange finder behaviour since updating to Mountain Lion. Folders take several seconds to open after clicking on them (and sometimes won't open at all) and files cannot be moved around the desktop or dragged on to an app. However, it is possible to open a file by clicking on it. I've tried re-booting with Snow Leopard and everything seems OK, but as soon as I go back to ML, the problem starts again.

    Library is a folder, not a file. There're more than one Library folders, one at the root and one for each user in your Mac. All of them are hidden, this is why you can't find them. But you can see their contents using
    Finder Menu > Go > Go to Folder
    And then type:
    ~/Library
    for your Library Folder
    -or-
    /Library
    for the root Library folder.

  • Strange repaint behaviour with JList & Keyboard actions

    Hi everyone,
    This is my first post to the forum. You guys have been a great help in the past and I hope to contribute more in the future.
    Anyways, I've encountered some strange repainting behaviour with a JDialog that uses a JList and a JButton. The dialog is fairly straight-forward and basically this is how it works (like an open file dialog - yes I'm implementing my own filechooser of sorts):
    * JList lists a number of simple items that the user can select from.
    * Once a selection is made, an Open button (JButton) is enabled.
    * <ENTER> key is registered (using registerKeyboardAction()) with a JPanel which is used as the main content pane in the dialog.
    * The user can either click on the Open Button or hit the <ENTER> key which then closes the dialog and runs whatever logic that needs to.
    Now, the repaint problem comes in when:
    1. User selects an item.
    2. User hits the <ENTER> button
    3. Dialog closes
    4. User brings the dialog back up. This entails reloading the list by removing all elements from the list and adding new ones back in.
    5. Now... if the user uses the mouse to select an item lower in the list than what was done in step #1, the selection is made, but the JList doesn't repaint to show that the new selection was made.
    I didn't include a code sample because the dialog setup is totally straight-forward and I'm not doing anything trick (I've been doing this kind of thing for years now).
    If I remove the key registration for the <ENTER> key from the dialog, this problem NEVER happens. Has anyone seen anything like this? It's a minor problem since my workaround is to use a ListSelectionListener which manually calls repaint() on the JList inside the valueChanged() method.
    Just curious,
    Huy

    Oh, my bad. I'm actually using a JToggleButton and not a JButton, so the getRootPane().setDefaultButton() doesn't apply because it only takes JButton as an input param. I wonder why it wasn't implemented to take AbstractButton. hmmm.

  • Strange JTable behaviour - everything is highlighted

    Hello all,
    im experiencing some strange JTable behaviour, and im not so sure why. When i run my program, the JTable appears, but all the cells are highlighted in advance. Also, i can now only select one cell at a time. I have set myTable.setSelectionModeListSelectionModel.SINGLE_INTERVAL_SELECTION);  myTable.setCellSelectionEnabled(true);and my renderer code is below. I call the renderer by using the setDefaultRenderer method with(Object.class,myRenderer).
    I have also changed isCellEditable to return true. If i dont use Object.class, and try to use my own custom class, the JTable is not all highlighted, but it doesnt seem to use myRenderer, and when i click on the header of Column A, all cells from column B and beyond become highlight, which is not normal behaviour. I thought the colum you selected should be highlighted.
    Sorry for the long post, i hope the above makes sense...this is really quite bizzare, and im not so sure why this is happening. Thanks for any advice you can give, regards, Rupz

    Hi VV!
    thanks for the reply - now the table isnt all highlight when loaded, but as for cell celection..thats a different matter. I did have myTable.setCellSelectionEnabled(true); but no, the cell behaviour is really, eally weird, quite hard to explain, but here goes.
    If i try to select cell D1 and D2 - D1 is selected, D2, E2,F2 and so on become selected. If i try to add D3 to the mix, the entire row 3 is selected, and as soon as i let go of the mouse button, the entire table except row 1 gets selected. really really weird. Below is my tableModel and what i do to the table. Thanks for your help,
    regards
