hi. i bought a new lenovo laptop. model name: g 510, core i5, amd hd 8570 2 gb, ram 6 gb, hdd 1 TB, and just after 3 days its webcam dose not working again! (note: it only works only 0.5 hr or even lessen during all 3 days), then, i returnd it to the office that i bought it and they are change and update the drivers and windows too but its not benefits, after this based on their diagnose, they are change the main board and webcam, then by this chage its graphic change to amd r5 m230 series and 20238 main board, and its webcam working properly only for 10 days, after this period its problem repeated and its webcam not detected again (with out using it webcam too much, approximatly 1 hr in 10 days). now i and those staff are confused by your lenovo device!!!!i admire you for your technology....

If I understand your comments correctly, you took the laptop back to place of purchase for service on a web cam issue and they replaced the main system board, web cam and added in dedicated graphics and you still have an issue with the web cam not working after minimal use.
Have you opened up the device manager to see if there are yellow or red bang marks on any of the listed items? Have you run Lenovo diagnostics? If there are no issues listed in device manager, you may want to echage the notebook for a new in the box model instead of a repair route.

Windows 7 Prof / X300 embedded webcam not working

I am running Windows 7 on my Thinkpad X300 since Microsoft released Windows 7 Beta. At the beginning, there was quite some trouble with many drivers, but the embedded webcam driver was working well though. When upgrading to Windows 7 RC, a couple of updates have been released in the meantime, so more IBM/Lenovo software was working well.
Right now, I am running Windows 7 Professional, downloaded all recent driver updates and reinstalled them. Everything is working fine now - except the power management and the embedded webcam. The former is not important for me right now, but the latter one even more. Unfortunately, it is not working at all. It is regularly mentioned in the section "imaging devices" of the device manager without any error. I was using the driver "7tca21ww.exe" for the webcam.
However, when trying to use Skype, there is only a blank screen in the webcam preview window. In another thread, http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-RTM-Discussion/Windows-7-Webcam-driver/m-p/155292, there was a tool mentioned called AMCap, but it is also not working though (terminates evoking the error message "Unable to render the video preview stream - the parameter is incorrect. [0x80070057 / 11878]. Also in another thread, this driver http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-66973.html was noticed to be working. Unfortunately, this not working neither.
Any advice on this issue is very much appreciated.

Lenovo is releasing official Windows 7 updates on a daily basis. I think you'll find the correct driver at this link. Obviously if it fails to work I can only speculate. Good luck.

I have a MacBook Pro Retina display: 15.4-inch late 2015 with OS X Mavericks install, only on second week.
Insight works on FaceTime, Skype, but yahoo program does not show insight cam in dropped down.
Now when I got my new MacBook Pro, I down loaded all new Skype (worked tested), FaceTime (Worked Tested), Yahoo (not worked)
Fix:
With the new Maverick you have to use there messager program Version 8.0 (4218). Once I add my yahoo account video works again.
It also supported AOL, AIM, Google Talk, Jabber.
Guess I miss it frist time... hope this helps...

I bought a compaq mini 702EA using win 7 starter and I have been all around Hp website and cannot solve this problem re: cannot get the WEBCAM to work..any help please.

I am not tech savvy and need help with getting the in-built webcam to work. I have not been able to find out how to get this Built in Webcam to work at all. I am able to attach an external one though.,
not sure how to activate it or if i am expected to download special software or the like in order to complete activation etc..etc.. please explain

XP windows restore does not work yet all is set correctly

XP windows restore function does not work. All the restore points exist with descriptions of the changes that prompted them. It will let me select them (restore points) and restore process will strart but after rebooting it will ultimatly let me know that it could not restore.
Does the Lenovo Restore and Rescue utility disable this function of XP ? ?

Well I have a 6460-8WU that came with Vista and I got the downgrade CD set and tried to restore to XP. The first time it said it failed to restore my system, but it seem to have XP and all the applications that I expected to see. Later I had a problem with the Welcome Windows screen being unavailable... used only the Classic Windows Logon, I called Microsoft and they suggested using their system restore.... which didn't work at all... I tried 5 or 6 different backup files from different days and none of them worked. At that point I decided to use the Lenovo downgrade CDs and format the hard drive restoring everything from scratch. It took me a few tries but eventually I did get it to say that it had successfully restored my system. The items I learned from like 4 failed attempts to restore it are this:
1. Don't try to restore it while in the advanced dock.
2. When the restore process says to remove Disk # x and press OK, remove Disk # x-1 (the currently inserted Disk, and insert Disk # x, and then do not press OK until you wait 20 or 30 seconds or until the little icon of a CD that flashes when Windows reads a newly inserted disk has finished. When I tried clicking OK either before I had actually inserted the next CD or too soon after I had inserted the next CD the process went downhill from there and failed to restore properly.
3. When it seemingly has read all the CD's and says it will now start the restoration process, but you are asked to press Next... well firstly there *is* no Next button to press and the other buttons other than Cancel are greyed out. The solution there is to wait, and wait, and wait... so long that you may think the process has failed and the computer is hung... but it is not. Eventually it will continue from that point.
Aside from that, I notice that there is a new version of the Recovery Application on the Support site, but
if you install the latest Rescue and Recovery 4.20.0511.00 in the readme there are 31 "considerations" listed, which are basically conditions under which it does not work properly or as expected, so I won't be trusting it to recover my system. I will make a Paragon Drive Manager image after I get the updates all installed and use that to restore from.

Of course im using an integrated webcam. and it is turned on, enabled an all. I've Updated my webcam, download other versions of the driver, unistalled, installed back, used recovery system, looked for others drivers for the hp pavilion dv6 2150 us. But it keeps doing the same. One moment is alright, at other moment it lost the device ...
What can i do? it is really anoying and not useful at all if when i need to use the webcam it is not detected.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dm4-1162us Entertainment Notebook and issue with the WebCam not working correctly. Here is a document on troubleshooting the WebCam for Windows 7.
If that does not help I would uninstall the drivers and software.

GS70 webcam not working

I bought a GS70 running Windows 8 yesterday and the webcam isn't working.
Whenever I try to use it for skype or anything it says I dont have a webcam installed or plugged in, I cant find it in device manager or anything even though it was there and working last night.
I've scaled the internet up and down to try and find drivers/apps for this webcam but it seems as if they don't exist/
Whenever I press fn + f6 to turn it, sometimes a message will come up in the corner saying that device is not connected.
What do?

you'll need to turn on/off the webcam by pressing FN + F6 or turn it on/off by the SCM interface.
if it is still not working at all, turn off the machine pull the power adaptor, push the pin hole at the right handed side near the first usb port for 30sec to reset the EC firmware.
after that you'll need to recconnect the power adaptor to turn on the machine.

Microphone and Webcam not working/Webcam not recognized by YouCam

I have a dv7-6c95dx and my YouCam program tells me that it does not recognize my integrated webcam. I have read all of the webcam forums on this site and clicked on all of the links people have posted in the forums. I have uninstalled the CyberLink YouCam program and it still comes up with the same messages. The webcam also does not show up in my device manager. The microphone is malfunction as well, it will not work any any programs including skype.
I have heard that the webcam can come unplugged internally, will that also cause the microphone to stop working? I have run out of options and I do not want to pay anyone to fix it. I would appreciate any advice on this subject.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx Notebook and sound and microphone issues and Webcam not working correctly. I would be happy to assist if needed. Try these steps first.
1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
2. Select Playback devices
3. Right click Speakers
4. Enable it and set as Default
5. Click Apply/Ok
You could also try Microsoft troubleshooter located on your Notebook.
Here is a document on WebCam troubleshooting. The Webcam will be listed in your device manager under Imaging devices. You should be able to click the action button and scan for new hardware.

Java does not work at all upon using the update manager to update to firefox 3.6.10 for Ubuntu 9.0.4

upon updating to firefox 3.6.10, java does not work at all.
websites that use java do not work at all anymore, when they worked just fine before the updating thru update manager. e.g. hulu website cannot play any of the shows.
i can give the folder of bookmarked pages i tried.
how to do that on here, i've yet to see if possible.
i can even give saved text from the terminal concerning certain attempts.
when i updated thru update manager, it gave some weird java plugin that wasn't there before "The IcedTea Web Browser Plugin IcedTea6 Java Web Browser Plugin (execution of applets on webpages)".
i uninstalled this as instructed by an answer found in one of the pages i saved, cuz it was conflicting w/another java program the updater said i needed. right now, i don't remember for sure what it was. it perhaps was realplayer flash or Java itself. w/all the hours/days of searching i put in, it's difficult if not downright impossible for me to remember all the specifics of what i tried.
i've searched throughout many webpages (including many searches on mozilla, ubuntu, java, etc) for instruction in fixing the problem.
oh, and incidentally, on the Java site, when i try the verify test of Java, firefox pops up with that yellow bar right below the slew of tabbed website windows, giving the statement "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page. (w/link to) install missing plugins ." which is what i do, go thru the requesting plugin installation. it comes up with, guess what, the IcedTea Java Plugin. i click on the 'next' in the "Plugin Finder Service" box that pops up, & all it gives me is "No plugins were installed. IcedTea ...Plugin failed. and the link 'find out more about plugins or manually find missing plugins'". the link takes me to some of the very things/plugins that wouldn't install in the first place. the Java test failure is a LOL funny, as what plugin it is saying is required (IcedTea) is a recommended alternate program to display the very test in the first place.
i followed the given instructions on those many searched pages, in every case (barring what i may have just plain missed), but to no avail.
i've even gone to the point of trying to reinstall the previous 3.5.13 firefox version, from mozilla site. even that wouldn't install.
i've tried installing Java for my sys direct from it's site. nada.
now it's time for me to post the problem & perhaps someone will come up with some kind of "dummy" way to fix it.
until then many sites a regularly use are totally useless to me on this fast puter.
the only way i can get to use such sites, are two choices: 1. use a dinosaur laptop, which is slower than molasses & cannot handle to any streaming stuff, or 2. use an available internet access puter at the library. but useage for ea person per day is limited to only one hour a day. and one can end up waiting for an hour or more ( in the busiest periods) to even get to use one.
so, is there anyone at all, who knows any for-sure working fix for this problem?

I know how to use about:config & have had the usual problems with newtab page tiles but this is more like a bug- using 33.0.1. Doesn't show tiles icon in top right corner just shows a gear that is used to hide the empty tiles that I can't fill with sites. First it would only show 2 rows of 4 columns even though I had it set to 5 & 6 then few days later for no reason they went empty with a serrated line around the tiles & can't drag from the bookmarks---- really bloody annoying!!!!!!! Possibly a setting in the about:config but i can't fig it out?
