Lenovo G405 RAM Capacity

I want to know what is the maximun RAM capacity supported by Lenovo G405. I check with dmidecode -t 17 command (linux system of course)., it show 4G RAM support only. But I got two RAM slots in the laptop, and only 1 slot is installed with 4GB RAM. It is not make any sense if there are two slots and support only 4GB of RAM while the laptop is came with 4GB (1 slot) installed.
I really want to upgrade the ram to 8GB, but I can't sure how much ram can this laptop support.
Also, the laptop is come with a 4GB 800Mhz DDR3 ram, however, it is really hard to find 800Mhz DDR3 RAM.
So, I would also like to know what are the other RAM speed/type supported by the laptop?

Unfortunately the documentation for your model is rather sketchy on the maximum amount of memory that can be installed. In checking two of the major suppliers of laptop memory, they are indicating your G405 can support up to 16 GBs of memory.
As for speed, you can use 800 MHz thru 1600 MHz DDR3 modules.

My questions is essentially, is there a maximum RAM capacity for a Macbook Pro 13 inch Mid 2009? I'm aware there are two RAM slots in my machine, but in past experiences with other laptops/desktop computers (not Apple) there was a default maximum which couldn't be overidden despite how much RAM was inserted.

You can upgrade up to 8GB using 2 x 4GB 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 modules. That's the maximum (unlike 2011 and later models which Apple tells you can only hold 8GB but can actually run 16GB).
If you do order RAM, order from a Mac memory specialist - Crucial, OWC, Corsair, etc.

The MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro with Retina display have got the memory soldered onto the logic board, so you can't add or remove memory after buying the computer. This only happens with those computers, and you can add or remove memory in the rest of the Macs

Lenovo G405 Incompatibility with Windows Vista-32 bit

Hello I'm new here so I wasn't so sure if this is properly posted here but thanks.
I bought a Lenovo G405 laptop that came with dos 6.22 or 6.2.2 or something. Then I performed a clean installation of Windows Vista 32-bit. The problem is that, I can't find any drivers for lenovo g405 that is compatible with windows vista .. Even the AMD Auto diagnostic tool refuses to install the detected driver since it was Hardware/Software Incompatible. Any suggestions? or Links for Win Vista Drivers for Lenovo g405. Thanks!

If your model is lacking the correct Vista drivers from Lenovo and Vista doesn't offer native support then I see upgrading to Windows 7 as your only option. Here is a link to what Lenovo drivers are available.......

Lenovo g405s wifi

hello.. i have lenovo g405s.. running win8 . my question is why the wifi so slow? im using 5mb connection but i get 1mb -3mb and hard to get 5mb... if i play online games like dota 2 feels lag and ping so high.. i tried use another laptop and its work.. but on this lenovo so slow... sorry for my bad english.. hope u understand

Thanks for posting. Look at your case, I was wondering if you could try the suggestion below.
>Go to Control Panel, and click Device Manager.
>Right click on the Wireless Adapter.
>Look for Power Management tab.
>Uncheck Allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

hello... i just buy lenovo g405s for 1 day... runnning windows 8.1 fully updated bios to 2.05. but why my temperature is high?... i surfing internet and facebook the temp is 89-90c ... do let me know whats the problem...

It's hard to tell which one is accurate but what I would do is to check the vents / keyboard / bottom area as you can easily distinguish 45°C from 89-90°C just by feeling the hot air or heat that's comming out from these areas.
If the vents / keyboard / bottom area are too hot to handle then the HWmonitor readings are possibly correct, otherwise, there's probably a fauly sensors somewhere. Have you already contacted the store and reported your findings?

Older Macbook Pro's Ram Capacity?

Hi.. I have the older macbook pro... (one just before the new ones came out), and it is said that 3GB is the capacity.. so if i got 2x 2 gigs of ram installed, would it not work? thanks

Lenovo k430 ram upgrade bios issue

I've just installed 32gb of 1600 Corsair ram in my Lenovo k430 that came with 16gb 12800.
The ram was recognized at firt boot but the cpu-z app reports a lower speed (pc3-10700) much lower than the prevous ram (pc3-12800).
I've entered the bios at boot but i didn't see anything where i can set the right type of ram.
Can you help me please?

Lenovo G475 RAM

I am upgrading my laptop but somehow confused on the clock speed of the RAM. Lenovo stock is DDR3 1333 but multiple sources tell me that it should be DDR3 1066. I need to know please. Does anyone have the specs?

according to kingston, it's 1066 as you said. but you can buy 1333 mhz ram, the mainboard will downclock it to 1033 if not supported.
i suggest you to check the installed ram. you should buy the same one.

Lenovo G500 RAM, SSD and warranty

I would have screwed down the cover, but one screw sticker is Lenovo.
We've always thought that the RAM and SSD into the machine at home can be done.

I have a Lenovo G500 notebook, and I would like to open the back of the computer to replace the HDD. I should remove two screws to do so, however, one is covered with a "Lenovo" sticker.
Do I lose warranty if I remove the screw (and the sticker)? If yes, how can I replace the HDD without losing the warranty?

Lenovo A6000 RAM management observations

Hi lenovo,
I have made few observations which i believe are issues and need to fixed by lenovo.
I have been using Lenovo A6000 since a week and noticed the following.
1. Initially the RAM on first boot was around 460 MB.
2. After using it for 2 days, i observed the RAM was around 50-100mb free.
3. When i play a game and pause it and go to home and again when i open it, the games starts from the beginning but not from where i paused it. This is not the case with apps.
4. Sometimes the apps like Skype, Ucbrowser does not get installed on the SD card and displays message as " Unable to install on the location"
5. When i set pattern Unlock, i have to press a bit hard at the points to get it unlocked.
6. The RAM sometime shows very low(50- 100 MB free) and sometimes show around 400mb free.
There is a problem with RAM algorithm for sure.
I have updated the phone to the latest update available.

Also sometimes
1. autorotate gets activated automatically.
2. Audio profiles changes to outdoor automatically.

Lenovo S890 RAM Value

Hi everybody. I have a new lenovo s890 come from china.
But im confused, about ram value. This phone ram value is
470MB to be seen. Is it true ?
And when i play little games then touch
screen get crash/lock/off, come back 2-3 minutes.
İ did install another roms, but didnt fix it.

Again I'm not aware of a 512MB RAM version.
My personal opinion is that you have a lower spec S890 meant to be sold only in mainland China.
Probably the seller installed a custom firmware(modified Chinese version) with GAPPS(the Chinese firmwares are only CN/EN and don't include GAPPS>Google services)...
....They do that to cover a wider international market.
The EMEA region version has 1GB of RAM...

Lenovo G565 RAM upgread issue

Hello! Im trying to put 2x4GB 1333MHz instead of mine 2x2GB 1066MHz RAM. I check the motherboard (lenovo G560) and it seems it an hold it with no problems. Anyway when I put the new RAM modules and start Windows it starts to loading and it shows the windows logo loading for 2-3 secs than blue screen appears for a sec with some kind of message like - ;( Windows ran into problem emergency shut down needed (or something like that) and the PC goes off. Ive tried to change the places of the RAM modules and checked if I place it correctly but everything seems cool. Can you help me at this please?
RAM modules are:
MT16KTF51264HZ-1G6M1
MT8KTF5126HZ-1G6E1
The logo is the "M" letter with some kind of orbital circle around it.
These modules works fine at my wife's laptop (Compaq), mine 2x2GB works fine on her laptop too.

In addition to what Majestic have mentioned, looking at the specs of those memory modules, the MT16KTF51264HZ-1G6M1 and the MT8KTF51264HZ-1G6E1 are both rated at 1.35V. Comparing these specs from the list of memory modules that the G565 supports, the list of RAMs are rated at 1.5V.

This is also likely the reason why you're getting those BSOD's as the systemboard (or its BIOS) doesn't support low-voltage DDR3 SODIMM (1.35V). In this case, I would recommend you try using a DDR3 PC-8500 or PC-12800 (1.5V) SODIMM for best compatibility..
In addition, you can also run tests on the RAM by using Memtest (memory diagnostic tool) to verify their health.

I got my first mac and wonder what is the max ram capacity?

This is my first mac and I gotten it for school for my animation and visual effects. Since they like using tutorials that uses a lot of mac commands instead of windows so I am doing this so I can easily follow along. I gotten a Apple iMac MD063L from newegg it is coming with 8gb of ram and just wonder if it can go higher like what is the max it could do? I just want to make sure it can handle programs like Maya, adobe after effects but primarily Maya and related programs. When it comes to rendering a project.

That partial part number relates to 3 different refurbished 27" iMacs at NewEgg. All 3 can be upgraded to 32GB of ram. Only buy ram from either OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/ or Crucial http://www.crucial.com/ and avoid the bargain basement brands sold by other vendors. They're all mid 2011 models I believe.

RAM capacity question

Hello and thanks in advance for your help. The Apple webpage on installing RAM for the MacBookPro4,1 gives conflicting info: In one place it says, "You can add two 4 GB memory mods for a max of 8 GB". In another place it says "4 GB is the max that can be recognized". So which is it… 4 GB or 8GB?

I had a similar doubt few years ago with a MacBookPro which according to Apple could only use 3 GB.
There was a little confusion at those times, some MBP could really use 4 and I was tempted to try.
I tried to install 4 (2+2) and they were apparently seen as installed under System Preferences Info/Memory...4GB.
BUT: I went under Activity Monitor: under Sistem Memory you get the real status with a pie chart about RAM, Installed used and free, and the addition of used and free gave only 3GB. So the extra 1 GB was installed but not used.
My advice is if you whish to try to get more than Apple suggests find a way to test your RAM with Activity Monitor at the shop where you do buy the RAM and agrre with them before, to buy only if they are seen.
To be clear: I am not to say the suggestion from wjosten about 6GB could be wrong.
Just adding a way to check the real status of the installed RAM: may be you can put more RAM into the slots than officially allowed and believe you have it installed, until you go to Activity Monitor.
