Lenovo G480 webcam not working

hello, im having trouble with my notebook, after upgrading it to windows 8.1 64bit, i can't use my webcam, and there is no imaging device under the device manager, i tried to installing the driver Camera Driver (Bison, Liteon, Chicony) from support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g480-notebook, there are no driver for OS windows 8.1, so i tried with the OS windows 8 version, in the middle of installation, after extracting package, and hitting install button, nothing happen, i've waiting for couple of minute, there are no signs that this process is start, or done. and try to restart it, hope the drivers is installed, but still no change

Have you tried enabling your webcam through Pressing the FN key on the keyboard and then the Esc key?
FN+Esc while you are looking at your camera... This will enable the camera so that it will work.

  • Microphone and Webcam not working/Webcam not recognized by YouCam

    Hello,
I have a dv7-6c95dx and my YouCam  program tells me that it does not recognize my integrated webcam. I have read all of the webcam forums on this site and clicked on all of the links people have posted in the forums. I have uninstalled the CyberLink YouCam program and it still comes up with the same messages. The webcam also does not show up in my device manager. The microphone is malfunction as well, it will not work any any programs including skype.
I have heard that the webcam can come unplugged internally, will that also cause the microphone to stop working? I have run out of options and I do not want to pay anyone to fix it. I would appreciate any advice on this subject.

    Hi DillOrNoDill,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx Notebook and sound and microphone issues and Webcam not working correctly. I would be happy to assist if needed. Try these steps first.
    1. Right click speaker icon (right hand corner)
    2. Select Playback devices
    3. Right click Speakers
    4. Enable it and set as Default
    5. Click Apply/Ok
You could also try Microsoft troubleshooter located on your Notebook.
Here is a document on WebCam troubleshooting. The Webcam will be listed in your device manager under Imaging devices. You should be able to click the action button and scan for new hardware.
    Hope this helps.

If I understand your comments correctly, you took the laptop back to place of purchase for service on a web cam issue and they replaced the main system board, web cam and added in dedicated graphics and you still have an issue with the web cam not working after minimal use.
Have you opened up the device manager to see if there are yellow or red bang marks on any of the listed items?  Have you run Lenovo diagnostics?  If there are no issues listed in device manager, you may want to echage the notebook for a new in the box model instead of a repair route.
    Good luck.

  • Lenovo x201 tablet laptop Integrated Webcam not working

I recently had to reinstall windows onto the Lenovo x201 tablet laptop and I can't get the integrated webcam to work on Google+. I tried downloading the integrated camera driver but during installation it stops about 3/4s of the way and the installation cancels. Not sure how to fix this , I checked under Device Manager and the camera driver is not listed under imaging devices. Does anyone have a solution to this? Thanks.

    Hi
    Welcome to the community.
As per our concern, I would suggest you to please re-install the camera driver from the below mentioned web link.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_SG/downloads/default.page?#
After that please perform the following steps.
    1. Press Fn+F6 to enable the camera.
    2. Click the Manage Settingsbutton. The Communications Utility window opens.
    3. In the Communications Utility window, configure the camera settings depending on your individual needs.

  • Yoga 2 Pro: Webcam not working with Skype?

Hi all, weird problem. For some reason skype cannot load the webcam built into the Yoga 2 Pro.
It works in the Windows 8 camera app just fine.
I formatted and everything and it will just not work.
IT WAS WORKING two days ago, that's why I'm so confused.  I've installed the drivers on the support page and have had 0 luck.
I'm not sure if this is a permission thing or what..
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately I've reinstalled the driver after uninstalling it from the device manager 10 times. I also formatted and reinstalled, but that didn't fix anything.
The camera works for the camera app + the webcam test online. I've tried rollback on the drivers, and installing earlier versions of skype with no luck.
Very strange, all it does is show the loading sign, and never loads.
This is the desktop version of skype btw. I'm going to try it with the non-dekstop version tonight and see if it works.
EDIT: Is there any other camera source besides 'Lenovo EasyCamera'? Their are two drivers on the drivers page, which one is recommended?

  • T420, Win8: webcam not working

Hi, I'm using T420 with Windows 8 64bit, but the webcam is not recognized. Win8 Camera-App does not recognize the cam, too.
Message from Microsoft was to contact the manufacturer to support drivers for Win8 64bit.
BUT: webcam works fine with Skype and with Lenovo AutoLock.
Fn+F6 shows "Communication Utility Hotkey OSD does not work any more", I can serach a solution online or close the program. Searching online does not work too.
When will there be a solution to that problem?
    Thanks,

  • WebCam not working on G580

    Hello everyone,
I'm having a weird problem with my new Lenovo G580 model 2189.
Long story short: my laptop has Win8 installed, and the webcam was working fine on the first use of the laptop. A few weeks later I installed a SSD and removed the DVD unit, using the bay for the original HDD of the laptop.
I did the image of the OS with the app that the SSD provided (it's a Samsung 840 Pro, if it's relevant) and everything went OK. And so I continued using the laptop with everything working exactly the same as the default config the laptop came with.
A few days back I tried to use the webcam for the first time since I installed the SSD, and to my surprise when I started the YouCam program it prompted that it can detect any webcam, and here's where my odyssey starts:
I have looked on the devices admin window if there's a device without its drivers installed. There's no warning sign, but what I think that's even odder is that there's no "image devices" category, which means that there's no webcam detected as a hardware component on the laptop.
I've downloaded the drivers from the lenovo website for the webcam (1 & 2) , but when I try to install it the program shows an error window saying "no appropiate driver to be installed".
I looked at the Lenovo Help Centre and followed these instructions, but the Fn+Esc didn't work, and there's no webcam sing displayed on the screen. I checked that the Energy Management was properly installed and running.
I've also uploaded the YouCam software or tried to use the webcam with Google Hangout, but the problem persists.
As you see I've tried a few things, all without success. Does anybody know how could I fix these problem? could it be related with the SSD installation, since I haven't done any other change to the laptop?
Thanks in advance for your time.

    Hi jorge_fubar,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that the Webcam is not working as expected in your G580 Laptop and also it is not displayed under “Imaging Devices” in the “Device Manager”, as this issue after changing the HDD in the computer. This issue seems to be hardware related but before considering it as a hardware issue, it can be checked if the device is detected in “Safe Mode”. If the issue is same in “Safe Mode”, below is the link for the steps to get into “Safe Mode”.
    Windows 8 Safe Mode
If the issue persists even in “Safe Mode”, I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance. Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I’m sure they will be a great help.
Do post us back for further queries.

  • Z70 webcam not working

So, I bought a brand new windows 8 Lenovo Z70 laptop, and the webcam is not working. In fact, it doesn't even show up in the device manager, even as an unknown device. It is possible that I accidentally deleted the software for it when I was getting rid of all the useless junk that comes preloaded and didn't notice it at the time (does anyone know what the name of that software is?), but even then it should still show up as unknown device. So far, I've tried installing several different webcam drivers/software from the support website, as well as a full system restore to when I first booted it up, to no avail. Any help?

ok, I called support and it is probably a hardware issue (why does shipping computers alays cause so many problems?)

  • Windows 7 Prof / X300 embedded webcam not working

    Hi community,
I am running Windows 7 on my Thinkpad X300 since Microsoft released Windows 7 Beta. At the beginning, there was quite some trouble with many drivers, but the embedded webcam driver was working well though. When upgrading to Windows 7 RC, a couple of updates have been released in the meantime, so more IBM/Lenovo software was working well.
Right now, I am running Windows 7 Professional, downloaded all recent driver updates and reinstalled them. Everything is working fine now - except the power management and the embedded webcam. The former is not important for me right now, but the latter one even more. Unfortunately, it is not working at all. It is regularly mentioned in the section "imaging devices" of the device manager without any error. I was using the driver "7tca21ww.exe" for the webcam.
However, when trying to use Skype, there is only a blank screen in the webcam preview window. In another thread, http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-7-RTM-Discussion/Windows-7-Webcam-driver/m-p/155292, there was a tool mentioned called AMCap, but it is also not working though (terminates evoking the error message "Unable to render the video preview stream - the parameter is incorrect. [0x80070057 / 11878]. Also in another thread, this driver http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-66973.html was noticed to be working. Unfortunately, this not working neither.
Any advice on this issue is very much appreciated.

    Hello.
Lenovo is releasing official Windows 7 updates on a daily basis. I think you'll find the correct driver at this link. Obviously if it fails to work I can only speculate. Good luck.

  • Any Advice to Fix/Enchance Lenovo G480 Webcam Video Quality?

    Lenovo G480-5801, 2332
Intel B960M, I can't find my Lenovo type on website, so I just assume everything is just the same like other G480 type.
Just purchased recently, it cames with 2GB RAM only, at first very slow
After upgrading to 8GB everything is great.
But there still a problem with Webcam though, and because of that I had to purchase a webcam for video chat.
    for comparison
    Built-in WebCam
    Logitech C170
Yes I know, I'm not expecting it's going to be good like C170 that, but at least I do expect the image viewable, and it's not, is that normal?
also about Mic built-in, no one can hear what I'm saying because lot's of noise/echo, and I have to disable it and use Mic from C170.
    Thank you.

    hi senthil_naga,
In addition to Catt's suggestion, have you tried adjusting the brightness/contrast setting of your camera under Skype?

  • X230T webcam not working

    Hi,
So I started using skype again after some time and I realized that my webcam wasn't working and it was working a few months ago. I went ahead and tried to reinstall the integrated camera driver and thinkvantage utilities. None of that worked and the integrated webcam program wouldn't reinstall for some reason. Anyone know how to fix this? I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that webcam of your X230T is not working properly.
Go to Control panel-> device manager -> Imaging devices and check if there is any driver with a yellow mark.
Press FN+F6 to open the Communications settings window and press Show my video image button to enable the camera.
Go to testmycam and check if camera works there. This will help you to isolate if the issue is just with Skype or in general with the webcam.
Hope to hear back from you soon!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.
