Lenovo G50-30 RAM Bank Problem

Okay so I purchase an additional 4GB of RAM to stick into the laptop as i've read there are 2 RAM slots available. Ran a Speccy scan - also said 2 memory slots with 1 free memory slot. After taking off the back cover, I see Slot B is already in use with 4GB of RAM. There is a Slot A empty. But there is no bank to stick the RAM into. There is only a bank in Slot B - which would be the slot furtherest north directly on top of Slot A. Now why are there two slots but only one bank? Is there somewhere else that can take the extra RAM? Or so I just return for a 8GB piece of RAM? I've read on numerous sites that this laptop has two slots. But seems only one is capable of having RAM inserted into it?

Hi Geronimofinch,
Welcome to the Forums.
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with RAM bank in your Lenovo G50-30 laptop.
As per the specification this model has 2 RAM slots, you can refer the manual 2 RAMs can be fitted to this system.

  • Upgrading Lenovo G50-80 RAM

I have recently bought a Lenovo G50-80 80E501LRIN model. There is a preinstalled 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM & I want to add another 8GB Hynix RAM meeting the required specifications. I went over to the Hynix website and came across two products that meet my requirements (DDR3L, 1600MHz, PC3-12800) [Find attached image]. Any guesses on which I should select? Note that the specified model's memory is expandable upto 16GB.

    hi David-Spain,
From the G50-70 HMM, the system supports:
    Standard Memory:
    DDR3L-1,600 MHz  (1.35v) SODIMM × 2 (max 16 GB)
AFAIK, there's no tool yet to check the RAM slots, but you can try running the Lenovo Motherboard Test (64bit).
In addition, the identical Samsung RAM that you inserted from the old laptop, is the voltage rated @ 1.35V? If it's a regular 1.5V then this is likely the problem as the machine supports 1.35V only.
    Regards

  • Lenovo G50-80 80E501E9GE - WLAN Probleme

    http://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g50-80/downloads/DS101669
Schau dann bitte, ob die Tips aus diesem Artikel helfen:
    https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/ht080645
    Was du weiterhin testen kannst:
    - die Bandbreite des WLAN-Adapters fest auf 20 oder 40 MHz einstellen (wieder über Rechtklick auf das WLAN-Modul im Gerätemanager -> Eigenschaften -> Erweitert)
    - den Echtzeitschutz des Antivirenprogrammes testhalber einmal deaktivieren / pausieren. Eventuell ein Update durchführen oder auf ein anderes Programm auweichen.
    Gruß - Sebastian

I bought a lenovo G40 ~ 70 laptop and I wanted to upgrade my ram.It contains 4gb ram and I wanted to upgrade it to 8gb .What type of ram card should I buy and after the upgrade will my computer have problems? thank you.

    Hi Ayato,
    Welcome to the Forums
As per the query we understood that you are looking for RAM upgrade for your Lenovo G40-70 laptop.
As per the specification of this model , the maximum memory supported by this model is upto 16GB DDR3L 1600Mhz.Hence I would suggest you to look into DDR3L RAM as the RAM slots in the laptop will only support the same. And "L" in DDR3L refers to low voltage.
Click here for the model specification.
Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.

  • Lenovo G50-70 Laptop (59-417110) Ram Upgrade Issues

    I recently purchased Lenovo G50-70 Laptop (59-417110) and it has in-built 2GB DDR3 1600MHz Samsung RAM.
I have Windows 8.1 64 bit OS installed.
I had to increase the RAM capacity to 6 GB. Hence bought Kingston 4GB 1600MHz RAM - http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR16LS11_4.pdf
After installing additional 4 GB module from Kinston, windows is restarting after seeing logon screen by showing "Windows ran into a problem notification"
Is this RAM module compatible with this lenovo model? I had researched inside lenovo support and changed maximum memory from msconfig, changed power settings, still no use.
    What should I do now?

    hi deljojoseph,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Can you try removing the old module, the 2GB.
check if your system will run with just the New RAM.
    After that
Try it also with just the old RAM an check.
    Let me know your findings
    Cheers!

  • Graphics display problems (dialog boxes) Lenovo G50 AMD A6 Win 8.1

Graphics display problems Lenovo G50 AMD A6 Win 8.1 Greetings to all. After having spent a number of days trying to find a solution to a display problem, I turn to this forum for help. I own a Lenovo G50 AMD A6 Win 8.1 ever since November 2014, and have had display problems ever since the first day, be it while using internet (Firefox or Explorer) or various software (Text editors, etc.). Many dialog boxes, including colour settings and controls (open, close etc.) either have an inappropriate appearance or even do not appear at all! I manage to "click" on the right places using memory: most areas are INVISIBLE! Another example would be that I do not see any backround colour or image on most webpages such as this one).  Some suggestions included checking for graphics updates (but the drivers used were already up-to-date).  I 'd be most obliged for any new suggestions. Thank you very much. George

Greetings to all, I finally decided to express my utmost discontent with- the Lenovo G50-45 I bought before Christmas 2014,- the summary response with inappropriate links that I received after exposing  my problem- the fact that I tried to dowload the following graphics driver  (Beema) AMD Driver (VGA, HDAudio, SATA) for Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
    exe
    526 MB
    Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
    VGA V14.502.1002.1002-Logo'd_HDAudio v9.0.0.9905_SATA v1.3.1.220;VGA v13.302.1601.1001_HDAudio v9.0.0.9905_SATA v1.3.1.220
3/19/2015from here(http://support.lenovo.com/fr/fr/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g50-45-notebook-lenovo/downloads/DS100174), and after REFUSING to accept cookies and some "Lenovo Service Bridge", finally managed to obtain something  HERE(http://www.notebookcheck.net/Lenovo-IdeaPad-G50-45-Notebook-Review-Update.125641.0.html).  I find it quite disrespectful to NOT provide customers with EASY support, as well as avoiding to  answer their requests for further help when some simplistic "assistance" that one can find almost anywhere on the web leads to no further solution. I shall not repeat the problems I have faced till now: vide supra. The problem, however,  is NOT just with browsers.I simply cannot see any dialog box content and colour in MANY software programs, such as OPEN OFFICE; for instance:  PRESENTATION colour dialog boxes show BLANK squares instead of squares filled with different colours. This has occured AVER SINCE DAY ONE! Finally, a new bug has appeared: Windows 8.1 keeps popping up some email program to which I am invited to register - I never created a Windows email account, and certainly don't intend to do so.NOR shall I accept some "Lenovo Service Bridge", however "discreet and inoffensive" it might be. I don't know if there are any legal grounds for customers to complain for all these problems. I DO know, however, that I shall NEVER buy a LENOVO device ever again. The pricing and processor might be competitive => yet,  the support that ensues is, as far as I'm concerned, LAMENTABLE. To make a presentation, I have to switch to a Samsung R20 using XP..... What is the meaning of all this? George

  • Lenovo G50-70 Bluetooth/Wi-Fi problem in (32bit) window 7

hello , recently i installed window 7 32bit on my Lenovo G50-70 laptop with window 8.1 (64 bit) installed (as default).
but found bluetooth and wifi not working
    I downloaded 515mb driver file from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/g50-70-noteboo...
After unpacking  I get a Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek, Inte folder with "Setup.exe" file and when I'm trying to use it there is only a "Warning" window with message "No Appropriate Driver to be installed"
I checked BIOS settings too - there's also Wi-Fi enabled
    help!!
and as i can see, most lenovo have this problem why??? alot of people in this forum also complaning the same issues..
    Nitesh
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi Nitesh,
The "No Appropriate Driver to be installed" error usually pops up if the installer can't find the specific hardware ID(s) to install the necessary drivers. This may happen if you have a different type of bluetooth adapter (eg. Intel wireless +bluetooth combo)
    Can you try the following:
    1. If the Network Controller (wireless adapter) is present under Device Manager, can you install these drivers first and reboot if necessary:
    Lenovo Energy Manager
    21.4MB
WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek, Intel)
    267MB
    2. When finished, check if you can now see the wireless and bluetooth adapter under Device Manager (see Bluetooth and Network Adapters) and press the airplane mode key (F7) to enable these devices.
       - Sample Image
Let me know how it goes.

  • Lenovo G50-45 Wireless has dissapeared completely

I have a Lenovo G50-45 that when i bought it worked perfectly. Here recently it seems the wireless adapter has magically vanished and i say that because ive done everything i know to do and ive searched google everywhere but no one seems to have the same issue i do except one person and he was running linux and was able to resolve his issue. I on the other hand havent been able to.This laptop has a bluetooth/wireless card combo. The card handles both connections. The laptop itself has a AMD 8 processor, 4GB ram 1TB HDD running windows 8.1Oneday the laptop just wouldnt connect to wifi. I work on computers alot, and short of replacing the card itself i havent found the solution on my own.The wireless adapter does not show up in network sharing when you click change adapter settings. Only the LAN and bluetooth connections are there. I checked in device manager and there is no missing or improperly installed hardware. Opened the network connections in Device manager and there is no wireless adapter, no WLAN, no wireless anything avaliable there.I have done the following:I uninstalled and reinstalled the bluetooh driver. updated the bluetooh driver.  physically removed the card, started the laptop (the bluetooth connection dissapeared like i expected, turned off the laptop and reinstalled the card and restarted, the bluetooth connection reappeared but not the wireless.I checked in the BIOS. Wireless is enabled. I updated the BIOS. Restored defaults. Still no wireless card.I thought maybe there was an issue within windows 8.1I partitioned the HDD and set off 100GB and installed Windows 7. I didnt think id be able to install the card but i wanted to see if windows 7 detected the hardware. It actually installed the bluetooth card by itself and properly, with an out of date driver im sure but it recognized it.But it did not find the wireless adapter. No wireless card in Device manager in windows 8.1 or a fresh install of windows 7.I ignored that the card wasnt there, and i went to the lenovo site and downloaded the proper up to date drivers. installed them on windows 7 and 8.1. I get the following error message "No appropriate driver to be installed"Now i have a feeling the card itself is to blame. Maybe i have that one card that just wasnt gonna make it. Ive never had a wireless card burn out on me ever but i suppose it is possible. But before i go buying parts, even though its cheap i dont have much money. And the principle of it all, if the card works why should i buy another one? right? its a disgrace to say i work on these devices and be beaten by one of them.  So has anyone had a similar issue? Something i havent yet tried?I would just throw in a wireless adapter i have here but the port on the motherboard is different than what i see in most laptops, i assume because its both wireless and bluetooth. I only have wireless cards laying around, non of them fit properly so i will need to buy a replacement to test. But if anyone can help me out, id appreciate it.

    Hi Kris_hm,
    Welcome to Lenovo Communtiy Forums!
Normal Troubleshooting path on this cases includes
    Power Cycle of the system
Checking of WLAN in BIOS if Enabled (Includes resetting BIOS to defaults)
WLAN card reseating (Removing WLAN card and reconnecting the WLAN again) Includes cleaning of the ports and connectors.
If these are all met - You might need to replace the WLAN card,
The WLAN Card socket supports M.2 / Ngff Connection type
Make sure you get a replacement card that is on this Maintenance Manual WLAN list and has an FRU tag.
This is to avoid getting whitelist problem

  • Can't find drivers for Lenovo G50-30 for Windows 7 32-bit

    Hi,
I can't find drivers for Windows 7x32 bit for my new Lenovo G50-30. Looks like Lenovo support doesn't have them. Am I wrong?

    hi ziris,
    Can you try these drivers:
    Chipset:
Intel® Chipset Device Software (INF Update Utility)
    Bluetooth:
Bluetooth Driver (Intel, Atheros, Realtek, Broadcom)
    Camera:
    (AVC, Bison) Camera Driver
If the  above drivers doesn't fix the unknown device under Device Manager, can you follow this guide on how to install the drivers via their Hardware ID or you may want to consider installing Windows 7 64bit (this would be best if you'll be utilizing 4GB RAM and above).

  • Lenovo G50-30 Unable to access BIOS settings after Windows recovery

    Hi
I recently 'downgraded' a recently purchased Lenovo G50-30 with preinstalled Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 using a UEFI USB install on a GPT partition. I also updated the BIOS from A7CN40WW to the latest A7CN43WW and all was working fine. However, after performing a necessary restore of an system image created using the Windows 7 backup and restore tool, I am suddenly unable to access the BIOS settings, either with the novo button (I do get the menu to select BIOS) or with Fn +F2. All that happens is that I receive a blank screen with a static cursor in the upper left corner. I can however still access the boot menu Fn +F12. This is a particular pain as I obviousl can't select USB 3.0 in BIOS.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I managed to clear CMOS by disassembling and desoldering a leg off the the RTC battery but to no avail. The problem seems to be that BIOS a7cn43ww itself has somehow been corupted. In theory this should be able to be resolved by a reflash. The trouble here is there seems to be no way to reflash with a current or previous BIOS version, so I'll have to either wait for a newer version or someone may know better.
C'mon Lenovo support this simply isn't good enough. It's a brand new laptop and I'm considering returning it for a refund.

  • Lenovo G50 BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant

    Hello everybody !
I kinda have a problem as the title states. My neighbour has a Lenovo G50 she bought and came with windows 8.1 x64 ( which she doesn't like at all and in my opinion win7 is far more superior ). The thing is I wanted to install her the Windows 7 Ultimate but everytime the " loading files " ends right after it boots from the dvd I get a bsod with the message " The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant Stop 0x000000A5 "
I tried all kind of different settings through the bios, changed from UEFI boot to Legacy / disabled secure boot / fast boot / I set the ACHI to compatible / but the end result is almost the same ( two times with different settings my screen froze with a red line over the top after loading the files )
My question is what is the problem and is there a fix for it? (of course it is,but I don't know it )
     Thanks !

recently i bought a lenovo G50-30 laptop with windows 8.1(64-bit)
the performance was low and i downgraded it to windows 7 professional (32-bit) which improved the performance drastically,
Now when ever i try to install the vga driver i get this message saying "this computer does not have the minimum requirements for installing

sorry for the late reply, here's the things you can try , try rolling back the driver or you can access the registry to adjust some values here's the step:
1- install latest driver of your graphic card
2- This step will fix the problem:
3 go to registery by regedit and change the value to 0xf048
