My computer has recently updated to windows 10 and my mouse pas no longer works.I use an external mouse most of the time but occasionaly use the touch pad.I hadnt used the touch pad since it updated and only just realised that its not workingusing the f6 key doesnt fix anything and my settings dont change when i use the external mouseAny ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks

hi afletcher91,
Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
If you do a left click and it doesn't respond or the key gets stucked or is stiff, that's an indication that the Touchpad needs to be replaced (probably got worn out due to everyday use). You may send the unit in for service or you can fix it yourself.
Not sure about how much it would cost but you need to replace the Touchpad Button (Part#: 31048975), you can get it at http://tinyurl.com/cqbvv5f
You can find disassembly guide at the Hardware Maintenance Manual here http://tinyurl.com/cbs9k5e
Hope this helps.

  • Notebook mouse pad not working

My notebook is relatively new and the mouse pad was working for the first 2 months.  After 2 months it stopped working and when I tried to reinstall the drivers it still didn't work.  Any solutions?

    Hi @NightFury108
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your mouse has stopped working, and that you have tried reinstalling drivers. I am happy to assist.
Did you notice any problems prior to it failing to work?
I realize that you have tried reinstalling drivers, but have you also tried a system restore? If not see the following and look for a restore point from before when the problem started. It is always possible the cause is more related to some other software that was updated or something similar that is interfering with the touchpad.
Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 8)
Also you should take a look at this, most likely Troubleshooting when TouchPad does not work in Windows 8
Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8)
Let me know whether that helps or not.

  • G500s Touch keyboard and mouse pad not working

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. The solution center says everything is fine. USB mouse works, as does the touch screen, just not the actual keyboard or pad.
    Please help.

For additional information - i now have my keyboard working, but the touch pad is still not working. I went to the lenovo site and downloaded the elan driver again. it extracted, but once i clicked for it to install, it says No Appropriate Driver to be installed.

  • Macbook suddenly dies/mouse pad not working

    Hi everyone,
I've become extremely worried about my macbook lately. I rely on it on a daily basis for work.
Last night my Macbook suddenly died on me. I was working and all of a sudden the screen turned off and the fans stopped. I thought the battery had died. But as i picked the macbook up, it started up again and the screen went on. The disk drive made the same startup noise it makes when you first turn on the macbook.
This similar thing has happened a few times in this last 24 hours. It seems to be getting more frequent. Sometimes, when it comes back on again, the little white power light stays off.
As i wrote this, it happened twice, thats the most its ever happened.
Also, my mouse seems to be double clicking everything. When i press the button on the built in mouse pad, it seems to have the effect of a double click. For example, when i click the top bar of this window once, it minimizes it - and it will not allow me to drag the window around.
HELP! This is not good! :(:(

By your description it does sound very much like your computer is in the process of failing and will soon be unusable at all.
the safest thing to do t this point would be to not use it any more and remove its hard drive (very easy to do by anyone). This will keep your drive intact. You can then get the computer repaired or get another one. You will at least have your data.
Anyone that depends on their computer for anything important such as for a business should always have a backup on the ready. Even is this means another entire computer.
Everyone that considers their computer's data, whether music, schoolwork, videos, other personal stuff etc. should definitely have an external hard drive that they backup the internal drive onto dailey, or as often as new data is added that they would not want to lose.
Thinking that your computer or hard drive will never fail is foolish. It doesn't matter what brand or model it is, they can all fail. This is particularly true of laptops and of hard drives.

  • Magic Mouse on Mouse Pad not working

Love the new Magic Mouse, except that it does not seem to track properly on a mouse pad.
I don't care for how it feels on the wood surface of my desk (though it does work properly there).
So I got just a plain old mouse pad, and for some reason it tracks poorly or not at all.
    Any thoughts?
    thanks
    ian

Ian , I use a dark grey pad and don't have a problem with tracking, albeit I've extend the mouse's capabilities with the excellent and free Better Touch Tool. Perhaps it will help you.

  • Mouse pad not working properly having downloaded Windows 8

Hi, having downloaded Windows 8 to my laptop (HP Spectre xt 13-2000ea) the mouse pad has stopped working properly. The "two finger" page down/up and left/right has stopped working.
I have looked at the mouse settings and it currenlty states the synaptics hardware is installed and working correctly.
Have even gone onto the Synaptics website but have been unable to download something that can correct it. The HP hardware updates page on their support website does not appear to have anything that deals with Windows 8 problems.
    Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Had exactly the same issue with my HP laptop. The Windows 8 driver installed with the OS works OK but the Synaptics driver in the latest Windows Update will not scroll. I had to uninstall the existing (newest) driver and install the HP Windows 7 driver from this site (an older version) then in Windows Update you have to wait for the Synaptics driver update to be offered (obviously you have to do a manual update and not allow it to install automatically) and then right click on it and select hide update.

  • Lenovo G50-70 Screen Not Working

I have a Lenovo G50-70 laptop that is 6 months old.  Two weeks ago I noticed that when I would turn the laptop on the screen would not immediately come on.  It took a few minutes before the display would show up even though I could hear the fan running. A few days later I took the laptop to a family members house and when I went to turn the laptop on I noticed the screen again did not immediately turn on.  I heard the fan running and the lights on the front were lit up.  I then noticed that the screen had a vague flicker to it.  I left the laptop on for five hours and the display never came on.  I finally had to hold the power button down until the laptop turned off and then took it home.  Once home I turned it on and again the fan was on, lights were on, but no display.  I left it plugged in all night and when I woke up in the morninng the screen was back on.  It has done this to me twice now and it seemed that after several hours the screen would come on. The laptop is doing this again however it had been four days and the screen is still flickering black and will not turn on.  Any ideas on what the problem is or what I can do? I do not have an external monitor I can use to test but I did hook the laptop up to my T.V. through the HDMI cable and the screen did not show up on the T.V. either. I tested the HDMI cable with a different laptop and it worked. Any help would be appreciated..

    Hi Niclak,
    Welcome to the Forums.
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with the screen in your Lenovo G50-70 laptop.
Perform the power by removing the extrernal devices connected to the system, shutdown the system and removethe battery and adapter. Now press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and connect the battery and adapter and try to power on the system.
As you have mentioned that there is no display in the system when you turn on the system are you able to hear the windows login sound? Try to move the lid back n forth and check for the issue.
Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.

  • Pavilion mouse pad not working

I am about ready to return this laptop and go back to Toshiba. I have had it for less than two months and have had nothing but problems with it. Currently, the mouse pad is not functioning; I am using a USB mouse trying to fix it.
I downloaded HP updates, including the BIOS, and as soon as I restarted the cursor had disappeared. I have gone into the F10 menu and tested the cursor and it was working. I checked in device manager and there was no mouse driver installed (though of course it used to be there) so I downloaded it from the HP website, restarted, and nothing. I have done a hard reset, nothing.
Combined with the nebulous keyboard functionality and the fact that the network connection never stays connected, this problem is the last straw.

  • Mouse pad not working - envy x2 hybrid

it has been 3 days now and my mouse pad won't work, i have Envy X2 hybrid.
The mouse no longer appears, i have tried restarting/ updating synaptic drivers - shows as updated and that the device is working properly.
i have tried removing windows 8.1 and putting windows 8 on. taking screen on and off - nothing is working. i have also tried to change the mouse pointer to see if this works, it doesn't.
i press ctrl and it shows where the mouse should be and it moves as to where i touch on the screen.
    can anyone help?

    Hello bacon_face,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the mouse pad on your hybrid does not work. First, please try connecting a USB or wireless mouse to see whether or not it works.
Also, I would like you to reinstall the operating system. It will clear up any software conflicts and allow you to start fresh, likely on Windows 8.
First, please ensure you backup your files. Here is information on how to do this: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 8)
Once this is done, it is safe to reinstall the operating system. Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 8)
Once this is done, use Windows 8 for a while. If the same situation occurs on Windows 8 or 8.1, the computer likely has faulty hardware. At that point, please contact HP phone support. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, and if this helped you. Thanks for choosing the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Mouse pad not working

I have a pavilion dm3-1130us the mouse pad just stopped working and the power button won't turn it off or on. The mouse power indicator stays on. Device manager showed the device as not working correctly or the correct drivers are not installed. I installed the correct drivers and no response. So I think i made a mistake and uninstalled the mouse in device manager and now I can not reinstall it. The funny thing is that the pointer still shows up on the screen but I can not move it around the screen. Any ideas any one?

Have you tried typing MSCONFIG at start menu, then go into Processes to see if the Touchpad is turned on there (or click on Enable ALL to turn on any that are turned off for whatever reason?), with startup? Or check your start-up under Windows Defender\Tools\Software, which lets you enable/disable startup programs, processes, etc. Look for the software for your mouse/touch pad & be sure it is loading on startup, then reboot.
Does the button light up, you did try pushing the button to turn it on right? Sometime one's wrist can hit the button & accidentally turn it off.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi
Go to Device manager and uninstall the driver first then restart the unit.
Check if the Touchpad is turned on.
Go to HP website and update the Touchpad driver and Bios and see if this fixes your issue.
Last option once unit is powered on keep tapping the F11 option and see if the Touchpad works here if in case Mouse not working you may have to call HP Technical Support and get the unit serviced.
Let us know how it goes!

  • Upgrade to Win 10 mouse pad not working P35W-B3226

I have the Click 2 Pro P35W-B3226 and mouse/touchpad quit working after updating to Windows 10.  I was able to get the mouse functioning somewhat by going into Settings/Devices/Mous&Touchpad/Elan and Enabling, but the only functions it has is as a pointer and i can click by pushing in center of touchpad.  The multi touch and scrolling functions no longer work?  Anyone know how to correct?  Or when an update is planned, this is very annoying.  Thanks.

If you haven't yet, check Toshiba Service Station and Windows Update both for updates.
