What is the error message (exactly as possible) that you are seeing when it turns on?  What you are describing sounds like hard disk failure, but will not no for sure until more informatoin is posted.
Please list the following - as much detail as possible:
Machine Model (not serial)
Error codes, warning or other messages
Will machine boot into safe mode
Thanks in advance.

  • Lenovo G50 NOT plugged in, but 'charging'.

I just bought a new Lenovo G50 about a month ago. The only strange problem I have picked up in the last 2 weeks, is that even when my notebook is NOT plugged into the charger, it still indicates that it is charging from an incompatible power source. Where my previous notebook, warned me on 10% battery left, my new Lenovo does not, because it is under the impression that it is 'Charging'.
The battery life is not really affected and when plugged in, it charges the battery normally.
Can anyone help me with a solution, before I take it back to my supplier. I know simple fixes like this can take up to WEEKS if I have to take it in.
    Thank you in advanced.

    hi dentonbronkhors,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    Can you try these steps:
Open Device Manager and look Under Batteries, Right click and uninstall the item Named Microsoft SCPI compliant control method battery.
Shut the computer down instead of doing a restart like the computer ask.
Now Remove the Battery and Unplug the Ac adapter, Hold the poer button down for at least 10 sec.
Turn the computer back on and See if that resolves the issue.
    Let us know your findings
    Cheers!

  • T410 Windows 7 Recovery Media 64bit from Lenovo will not boot

I have been sent 4 sets of Windows 7 Recovery Media from Lenovo over the past week and a half. These DVDs are unusable as they will not boot because they were created as non-bootable DVDs. When looking at the DVDs, they all just have 1 file on them - 0A44006.dvd.  I was sent a set of the 32bit version and it has multiple files on it with Bootmgr and 6 directories and will boot just fine. The 64bit DVDs obviously were created and replicated without any of these files to make it a bootable DVD. Can someone from Lenovo (Morristown, NC) find out why and fix these DVDs. The support center in Atlanta can only order another set from Morristown and I keep getting bad DVDs.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There's probably a way to make a bootable DVD out of that file.  If all have the same file you will probably still be missing a DVD or two - unless the contents of the files in a set are different.  Then again if it "1 of 1" is correct this may be all you need.
You can try a couple of things (just pulling this out w/out much thought...):
Use 7zip and extract the contents to <somewhere> and then burn that as a DVD.  Probably still won't be bootable, though.  Or just use your favorite image burning tool (nero, Win 7's built in burner, whatever) and burn that file as an image.
That may require renaming xxx.DVD to xxx.ISO.  This presumes it is an ISO.  Since 7zip can unarchive it, it probably is an ISO - or something very similar.  7zip may actually be able to tell you what its format is.
Let us know how that goes if you give it a try.

  • Lenovo G560 not booting. CPU Fan 100%. No output on screen or VGA

    I have a Lenovo G560
When I power on, the fan is steady for the first 5 seconds, then it spins faster and stays like that. No output from the screen at all.
External VGA does not present any output either. HDD doesn't spin and nor does the light turn on. Removed and reseated memory modules as well as HDD. No change.
Purchased a replacement LCD screen as the current one was cracked the when laptop hit the floor! Therefore I'm thinking something's completely screwed the laptop up or is it a case of a loose connection.
Next thing I was going to try was to disconnect the CMOS battery which would hopefully reset the bios - Can anyone shed any light on this? I believe it's under the keyboard and I have the remove the top chassis. I know that it may be soldered on as well...Any advise or help is appreciated.
    Thanks, Mitesh

    hi mitster,
To access the CMOS battery, you need to remove the keyboard and the top cover. From there, just turn the motherboard over to remove the CMOS battery. (see page 54-57 of the hardware maintenance manual detailed instructions).
If reseating the CMOS battery doesn't give you a display, try to reseat the CPU. If still the same problem, the Intel HD graphics in the processor or the motherboard probably got damaged when the laptop fell into the floor. If you're near a local laptop repair facility, I recommend you take it there to test the motherboard / CPU.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lenovo S400u not booting. error 0xc0000098. Any help is welcome

Hello. I pressed the power button for apparently more than 10 seconds without the battery by guideline mistake. Now the laptop is showing error 0xc0000098 and I can't boot properly.
OneKey recovery is not showing up properly. Appears like new button menu and few options like Normal startup(not working) , BIOS setup, boot menu and system recovery are disposed.
I never did a backup. Never used onekey recovery. I tried the system recovery option and show two options for selection:
Restore to the default backup (when I bought I suppose)
    Restore user backup.
As I said, I never used the backup and probably never made one.
I don't want to lose my archives and I dont know if I will be able to keep all my archives safe if I press any of both options.
Apparently, when I chose somewhere else to select any other user backup destination/image, everything is there. So I don't know why the boot is not loading normally.
Please sorry if my question is ttoo simple. I wish I can fix this up without losing nothing. Thank you in advance. Any question that could help fixing it or any information please help. I use win 8.1 64bit OS. Thank you once again.

    Hi Pinksoda,
Thank you for replying and sorry for the delay.
DISCPART refers to the partition while installing the operating system, if you want to backup the data you should not delete the data while reinstalling the data. Please take a data backup into your external drive and then reinstall the operating system. As you also mentioned that you have tried with both windows and linux. The DISCPART errors occurred due to clash of the operating systems, as the partition table may vary hence try to install the OS which you want to work as there will be no clashes in the operating system.
Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

  • Lenovo G230 not booting

    OS is windows vista professional.#
It has happened before. While watching youtube, my llaptop freezes, and then I get the blue screen with text. After restarting it, I manage to login but get a total black screen after. And now it won't even let me log in and I get a black screen of windows boot manager (0x......, a hardware/software upgrade may be the cause of this)
I brought my laptop to the IT techs. They managed to read my hardrive (e.g. my documents) so they think that it is probably a connection fault with the hardrive and the other bit.
Apparently this thing http://www.laptoppartstore.us/new-inspironlatitude-hard-drive-ide-connector-many-p-1349.html connects my harddrive. Another thing is that I dropped my laptop before.... and I don't recall this happening prior to this accident.
Does anyone have any clues as to where I can get this accessory? Or offer alternative causes for this?
As said the same thing happened last year, I brought it to another tech guy who said I needed another hardrive. I declined but when I brought it back home it worked....
    Thanks.

OK. A technician has had a look at it and thinks that it's actually a hard drive problem but I am still not entirely convinced as I had the same problem last time and when I brought it to the same guys they said they couldn't fix it. Though when I brought it back home it worked miraculously!
For all of you techs out there this is what happened
The problem was that when I boot it, it would only show “Windows failed”… file /windows/system/32/config/system error code 0xc000000F                    under windows boot manager.
What they did was that they managed to read the data in my harddrive off another computer but it was the windows booting that was the problem. Is this a hard drive problem then? And if so, what hard drive should I be looking to get? Are all hard drives compatible with my laptop?
    Thanks.

  • Lenovo G50 BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant

    Hello everybody !
I kinda have a problem as the title states. My neighbour has a Lenovo G50 she bought and came with windows 8.1 x64 ( which she doesn't like at all and in my opinion win7 is far more superior ). The thing is I wanted to install her the Windows 7 Ultimate but everytime the " loading files " ends right after it boots from the dvd I get a bsod with the message " The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant Stop 0x000000A5 "
I tried all kind of different settings through the bios, changed from UEFI boot to Legacy / disabled secure boot / fast boot / I set the ACHI to compatible / but the end result is almost the same ( two times with different settings my screen froze with a red line over the top after loading the files )
My question is what is the problem and is there a fix for it? (of course it is,but I don't know it )
     Thanks !

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 A42 not booting anymore

    Hi,
We have a Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 A42 that is not booting anymore. Concretely, when the on/off button is pressed, the fan goes on for a few seconds, the HD led is switched on and the CDrom is running for a few second too, then nothing else, except the "On" led that remains switched on...
I tried this: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Value-line/Help-How-to-reset-CMOS-on-3000-N200-model-076... to no avail.
I removed the keyboard and unplugged for one minute the only plug I found with red and black wires, to no avail either...
The computer seems dead... Any suggestion to reanimate it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pierre

    Hi, Thank for the reply.
There is nothing displayed on the screen and no access to the Bios.
I did tried to reset the motherboard after having removed the AC power, the battery, the HD and the RAM (by short cutting two exposed metal traces labelled CLRP1 and by unplugging the battery cable found behind the keyboard. To no avail...
I realize that the url given in my first post does not work. Here it is:

  • Lenovo SL510 will not boot.

So I made a mistake. I've reinstalled the OS on computers dozens of times and never quite had this issue. I have the Lenovo SL510 and tried to reinstall using the dvd drive. I entered bios and changed boot settings so the dvd drive was first and then booted it up but it went straight into windows 7 on the hard drive. I tried again, hitting f12 at startup and specifically selected the DVD drive to boot from and again it would boot directly from the hard drive ignoreing the DVD drive completely. Finally I opened the DVD drive from windows and installed over top of the old OS, planning to delete the old files once the install finished.
The install went fine, everything worked, except I didn't have internet. Turns out that the wireless adapter wasn't being recognized. I opened device manager and it was showing up under "Other Devices" as Network Controller with a yellow exclamation mark. I then proceed to track down and install the wireless drivers after connecting with an ethernet cable. I tried the intel chipset program and it would fail to install the correct driver, I tried the lenovo support program and it failed to install the driver, I manually downloaded and installed the driver and nothing happened. I tried several different wireless drivers and the result was always the same. I was working on the issue for at least 8 hours.
Finally I decided it wasn't worth the trouble, and why not reinstall again. This time I created a bootable USB drive and went through the same process, changed boot order, no result booted from hard drive, pressed f12, selected the USB drive, same result. Finally I installed the new OS image over the existing OS from the USB while the computer was on.
Installing the OS over the older OS was definitely a mistake, but it seems like the core of the problem was that the computer just wouldn't boot from anything other than the hard drive itself I didn't realize the implications that this presented and during the final install of the OS from the USB the computer restarted during installation. Of course.. the computer did not reboot from the USB which meant it simply came up black screen, the OS had already been wiped from the hard drive, but it could not boot from the USB and therefore simply comes up blackscreen.
The first thing I tried to do was reboot into BIOS, wasn't happening. When I attempted to access bios it would simply blackscreen with the power on indefinitely. I obviously tried booting and using f12 several times to try switching back and forth from USB to DVD and so on, but everything just black screened.
So..... Help? If the computer couldn't boot from USB or DVD then the only option was to boot from inside the original OS, but doing that caused a massive driver error which I couldn't resolve no matter what I did. And now I'm thinking the computer is completely lost. The only idea I have is to try using a friends computer to install an OS on to the SL510's hard drive and then resintall the hard drive into the Laptop to see if it will boot from it. I've poured over this entire forum and found lots of similar issues but no one seems to be offering any answers or solutions besides an occasional "we're looking into it" message.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First of all, remove all media from your dvd drive and usb ports. Unplug the pc from the power adapter and remove the battery. Then press at least 10 times the power button in 1 second intervals. Press it another time and keep it pressed for 30 seconds.
Now reinstall the battery and connect the adapter. Press the power button normally, see if something is moving...

  • Lenovo G780 will not boot up after windows update

My friend's G780 will no longer boot up after installing a windows update, one for which she cant remember, and ever since she updated it, the lenovo boot screen will appear, then turns black, and stays black. It will, occasionally, give her the option to go to the "windows did not boot properly" screen, giving her options to refresh the pc, restore the pc, advanced options, etc.
Changing boot priorities, using "repair" did not work, and neither did trying to find a system image.
She is unsure what to do, and I am as well.
    Any recomendations?

    hi connorjacob,
    Thanks for Posting!
If you can try and get the screen again where it gave you options like Refresh PC,  Restore the PC and Advanced option.
Choose Advanced option to pull up   a new page with options
With the options, You can try:
Try Selecting System Restore and see if you can find a restore point prior to to insalling the said updates.
Select Windows Start up Settings and Find two options that can help
                  - Boot to Safe Mode (See if the computer boots in safe mode)
                  - Last Known good configuration
    Let me know your findings
    Hope this helps

  • IdeaTab A2109A will not boot past Lenovo Splash screen

Tablet was charging over night, early in the morning I heard a couple of beeps, and thought it was my phone.  After waking I turned on the Tablet and first saw a green circle with 100%, then after trying the power switch again, it booted to the Lenovo splash screen with the audio and color bar, but will not boot to the operating system.

I gave up and sent the Tablet into Grapevine, Texas under warranty.

  • Wifi and Camera not working on Lenovo G50-45 80e300rgin

I bought the laptop Lenovo G50-45 80e300rgin and installed Windows 8.1 on it. The problem is that when i launch the camera app it shows that 'No camera found' whereas the camera driver was installed successfully. The other problem is that there is no trace of wifi when searching for it whereas wifi is turned on from the BIOS and the laptop is not on airplane mode. I later disocvered that Device Manager shows no wifi device. Please Help!!

    hi priyamdubey ,
    Welcome to Lenovo COmmunity Forums!!
Do you have any device under device manager that has a yellow symbol? as it may be the wireless without proper driver.
If the Wireless device is really not showing under device manager and it is on on BIOS, then it is a detection issue. the Wifi Device may not be physically detected by the computer,
Try restoring the bios to defaults by hitting F9  then F10 to save and exit.
The same might be happening to the Webcam

  • Lenovo G50-70 Screen Not Working

I have a Lenovo G50-70 laptop that is 6 months old.  Two weeks ago I noticed that when I would turn the laptop on the screen would not immediately come on.  It took a few minutes before the display would show up even though I could hear the fan running. A few days later I took the laptop to a family members house and when I went to turn the laptop on I noticed the screen again did not immediately turn on.  I heard the fan running and the lights on the front were lit up.  I then noticed that the screen had a vague flicker to it.  I left the laptop on for five hours and the display never came on.  I finally had to hold the power button down until the laptop turned off and then took it home.  Once home I turned it on and again the fan was on, lights were on, but no display.  I left it plugged in all night and when I woke up in the morninng the screen was back on.  It has done this to me twice now and it seemed that after several hours the screen would come on. The laptop is doing this again however it had been four days and the screen is still flickering black and will not turn on.  Any ideas on what the problem is or what I can do? I do not have an external monitor I can use to test but I did hook the laptop up to my T.V. through the HDMI cable and the screen did not show up on the T.V. either. I tested the HDMI cable with a different laptop and it worked. Any help would be appreciated..

    Hi Niclak,

Perform the power by removing the extrernal devices connected to the system, shutdown the system and removethe battery and adapter. Now press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and connect the battery and adapter and try to power on the system.
As you have mentioned that there is no display in the system when you turn on the system are you able to hear the windows login sound? Try to move the lid back n forth and check for the issue.
Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.

One time I`d like to use the music player with headphones and the OS stopped  and the headphones gave me a scratching, annoying noise.
I tried with an my old win 7 OS from my old laptop (yes I know should install a new but I hadn`t much time). Same problem, especially if tried to run videogames.  I installed the basic drivers like amd vga driver, lan and wlan driver etc, so the win 7 worked fine. But I started a R6V2 (rainbow six vegas 2)  and stopped after starting. Second time stopped after I quited from a the game.My question: Have anyone same problem and could give good solution to fix the problem?
Second: Could be a problem, that I laying in my bed, and moving my laptop then it crashes because of denting the inner parts?
