Lenovo G500 touchpad not working

I bought a lenovo G500 laptop around 6 months ago.So far everything was good enough but suddenly my touchpad has stopped working.I looked up in the manual and used the function key (F6) to enable/disable it but this is also not working. If I plug in the usb mouse then it works fine.Di I need to reinstall touchpad drivers? Help pls...

hi Prathibha,
Welcome to the Lenovo forums!
YES,
I would consider as my first step on throubleshooting this.
Open Device Manager and under Mice and Gaming controllers, Rightclick and Uninstall the Synaptics or ELan touchpad,
Restart the system and Install the driver back,
Windows 7
Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan)
Windows 8
Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan) for 64-bit Windows
Windows 8.1
Touchpad Driver (Synaptics, Elan)
Let me know your findings
Regards

  • MSI GS70 20D Touchpad not working after login when I upgraded to 8.1

Short situation: I upgraded my laptop to windows 8.1, and the touchpad stopped working on the start/desktop screens. I could move it before I logged in, and after it would work for a few seconds, but then it would just stop. An external mouse works just fine, but I still don't want my touchpad not working.
I looked on the MSI USA technical support page, and it said to delete the old drivers for the touchpad and download new ones. I deleted the drives, but every time I try to download the new ones, I get a window that says my touchpad isn't plugged in, and that the drive isn't compatible with my touchpad, which doesn't make sense to me because I looked up my product specifically and tried all three touchpad drivers. None of them worked.
Now I can't use the touchpad at all because I deleted the drivers, so it would seem that the computer doesn't know it has a touchpad because it won't register the touchpad in my devices tab.
Does anyone know what I can do to solve this? Or to at least get the touchpad to register again? I just got this computer for Christmas, I've treated it very well so it hasn't banged up against anything or been dropped or mistreated, so I cannot understand why this is happening. It worked before the 8.1 update, so I'm pretty sure the issue has something to do with that.

UPDATE: So I managed to fix the touch pad by deleting the driver and rebooting, which is weird because I removed the driver completely and never reinstalled it, so the computer shouldn't really know it has a touch pad. But every time I reboot the computer after fixing it, the touch pad goes back to it's old problem and I need to redelete and reboot all over again.
Also, My computer has begun to randomly freeze and not respond to anything, with one such event leading to a blue screen with a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR message. The computer has frozen a total of 6 times, at different moments; when I'm typing on microsoft word, at the login screen, even right when it starts up and the msi loading screen is up. 5 of these times have required a forced shut down, the first time the computer shut off on it's own because it ran out of battery power.
Finally, my computer has begun to periodically for long stretches of time stopped detecting wireless networks and is asking to be plugged into an ethernet cable to connect to the internet. This has never happened to me before, and I know I haven't turned off my network sharing center.
I'm not sure why this is all suddenly happening. It's not like I'm banging my laptop against walls. I'm very careful when I move and use my GS70, so these problems are greatly concerning to me because I just got this computer at Christmas.

  • Keyboard and touchpad not working after Windows 10 update

after udating windows 10 on my probook 4440s keyboard and touchpad not working. if i press a key for 10seconds the key then shows up in the screen. and touchpad is worst. it freezes all the time barely moves. but with usb mouse it works fine

It's known that installing Windows from an external DVD drive on a Mid 2013 MacBook Air causes that the keyboard doesn't work after finishing the installation. The fix is to install Windows by using a USB drive. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4599

  • Lenovo keyboard does not work

I bought a new Lenovo laptop (flex 2 14) and did the required setting. After that the physical  keyboard and the touch pad don't work. I only can use the touch screen.
I did not know what's the problem. Please help me

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Hannes !
If you have you tried uninstalling the mouse / keyboard / touchpad driver, reboot the computer and then installing a fresh copy of the driver ?
The link below is for the available driver from Lenovo for your model. Just select your operating system in the top box for the correct driver listing.......
    http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g500s-n...
If you have a USB keyboard available to use does that work ?  If the USB keyboard works without problems and the driver installation didn't this could be a very good indication that your keyboard has failed.  In that case I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for service especially if the laptop is under warranty.  You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....

  • Yoga 13 touchpad not working at one spot

    Hi,
i bought an Ideapad Yoga 13 from amazon and it has one problem. One spot on the left side of the touchpad is not working. When I move my finger to that point, the cursor does not move and the little icon in the notification area of Windows 8 does not show any pressure. The area goes from top to the bottom of the touchpad but is only a few millimeters wide. This is very annoying when I move my finger from one side of the touchpad to the other for example when I'm dragging something with the cursor, because at this point the cursor just stops.
Could this be a problem with the driver or is my touchpad faulty and I should just send the Yoga 13 back? Also do I send it to amazon or lenovo?
Thanks for any answers and suggestions.

    hi pagefault,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
One way to try this out is to Uninstall the Synaptics Driver and try the touchpad using windows driver if it still the same.
    To Remove Synaptics Driver:
Go and open Control Panel / Programs and Feature / uninstall a program
You will see Synaptics as one of the programs, Uninstall that and restart the Computer.
Once restarted Try the touchpad and see if the problem is still there.
Verify that the synaptics driver is uninstalled by Checking the mouse properties
Open Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Mouse
This option should be gone if the synaptics driver is uninstalled
If Without a driver,  you're still having the same issue I would consider this as a Hardware Concern.
You can contact Amazon or Lenovo Technical Support  about the issue.
If the problem disappeared without a driver
Try reinstalling the Synaptics driver by downloading and installing this
Synaptics TouchPad Driver for 64-bit Windows

  • Lenovo G500 TouchPad and Keyboard wont function at the same time

    Lenovo Laptop G500
    Windows 8
    Synaptics TouchPad V7.5
    Driver Version 16.3.13.3
The Synaptics TouchPad and the keyboard won't function simultaneously. If I uninstall the driver for the TouchPad the keyboard and TouchPad will work simultaneously on the windows driver however the TouchPad is very limited. There is no option to turn off the palm touch listed as a fix in other forum post.
This problem makes it impossible to play games that require the TouchPad and mouse to work simultaneously I would appreciate any help in resolving this issue.
    Thanks in advance Dennis

    hi djdishaw,
    Welcome to the Forums.
    Can you try to:
    1. Lower the palm tracking and touch sensitivity to minimum, apply the changes and observe.
    - Link to picture
    2. If same problem,  try to update the Synaptics Touchpad driver to v16.3.15.1 and repeat Step 1.

  • G500s OKR not working

Hello everyone.. I just bought a Lenovo G500s laptop. It came with a C drive of 890 GB and also with a D (Lenovo) drive of 25 GB. As you can see, I had to resize the C drive partition which i did but to my surprise, i lost the OKR functioning. Now i have OEM partition with a capacity of 13.21 GB ( It shows free space of 13.21 GB also). Did i accidentally delete it?? is it empty now?? How do i use it again ( Sorry for my not so good english)
I have a few question, please help me because i am just a noob
    1. Can i again get OKR work again??
    2. Can i use windows recover tool to use that free OEM partition?? ( i tried to but windows recovery doesnt show my OEM partition).
    3. Is it necessary to make a recovery dvd or USB flash drive ( or OKR )?? Can i not recover my system just by using windows sytem restore?? ( Would i be needing any of the above things)??

    Hi Agalloch90,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear about your situation, if the OKR (One Key Recovery) software is not detecting the partition, it may have got deleted while the time of resizing the C: drive. Hence I suggest you to re-install the OKR software and check the issue, below is the link to download the OKR Software:
Lenovo OneKey Recovery for Windows 8 (64-bit)
NOTE: It is recommended to create a set of Recovery Discs at the time of purchase.
Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Sometimes touchpad seems to be hanging when I working. But with external usb mouse it works fine. 2. Some keys are not working like u, k 3. When my system run first..... If I doule click on any icon in desktop to open it...... It accept the command as "Delete"... I seems just I want to delete the icon.... by the way I want to open the program/drive. When the hidden command is executed..... I find the icon/folder/file anything in "Recycle Bin"..... and command seems to be unlimited (multiple times).... My observation in this issue: System might be work in self!! also in Windows "safe mode" I tried to fix up it by "System Recovery" and "System Resetting". But no result Please help me to fix the problem Regards, P Delwar

Bring all the express to the same room as the mac you are using to setup the network..
One by one, plug them in and do full factory reset on them.. they should then show up in the Airport utility as Other Wi-Fi devices (1) and you can select them and continue the setup.
If that fails try using the airport utility on ipad or iphone as they are far less problematic than Yosemite in particular.

  • U410 a year old, touchpad not working, have to turn it off, otherwise it clicks everything.

I have a U410, and it's a year and a half old. Touchpad is not working, so I turn it off to do anything. If I don't, it thinks I'm clicking on everything, thus causing tons of problems, freakouts, etc.

  • Lenovo AIO C440 - not working infrared remote control

    Hello,
is there any hint how to get infrared remote control working for a new C440 model? Tomorrow I will try to measure and/or replace batteries which could be bad. For now it is totally not working.
Another question: the remote should work only within AverMedia TV app or in the whole Windows 8?
    Regards,

    hi bohdik,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
The IR Windows Media Center remote control is for use with C440 models with optional TV tuner. If you have this model,  make sure the TV Tuner driver and the ITE CIR Driver from the lenovo support site are installed under Device Manager (press Windows Key+R then type devmgmt.msc) then follow  the Set up a TV signal in Windows Media Center. guide.
    Note:
You must have Windows 8 PRO to enable Windows Media Center
